Distant Memories (Nurse Morgan Series Book 2) by Kate MacInnis – Review by Ashley Mertz

Distant Memories: A Nurse Morgan Series: Book TwoDistant Memories: A Nurse Morgan Series: Book Two by Kate MacInnis
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Distant Memories by Kate MacInnis is sending out all the ghostly vibes. Our MC Morgan is an Emergency Room nurse working in Metro Detroit with twenty years’ experience. Following a brain aneurysm that led to a lifesaving craniotomy, Morgan now experiences psychic abilities. Morgan lives with her ghostly roommates, The Wilkerson’s, and experiences spirits who haven’t crossed over at the hospital daily.
Morgan must deal with an evil entity, Esmeralda, who is causing havoc in the hospital and in Morgan’s personal life. Esmeralda is a man obsessed ghostly seductress. She moves through the hospital touching patients, harming hospital employees, stealing food, and encouraging patients to “check out” and cross over. Esmeralda is great at flirting with men. She has her eyes set on Dr. Caleb Lightfoot, Morgan’s current “fling”.
When Esmeralda becomes destructive, destroying the lab and the pharmacy, Caleb and Morgan realize they must act to remove this entity from the hospital. They request the help of Father Roberts to perform a cleansing. Will this be enough to rid of the horrible Esmeralda from the hospital and Morgan’s relationship with Caleb?
Distant Memories is a fun, entertaining, paranormal romance full of ghostly drama, mischief, and humor. The characters are strong, well developed, relatable, and instantly likeable. The storyline flows with ease and gets straight to the point without dragging on. I did feel the book ended abruptly. I am desperately hoping this means there will be more to come with a 3rd book. Distant Memories can be read as a standalone or following the first book: Distant Heart Sounds.

Nathan has a secret he has kept for years. Holly witnesses something she shouldn’t have. One secret keeps them tied together, but is it enough? At first, I thought the story was going to be slow, but it surprised me and I couldn’t put it down! This book hits on a very important social issue and is an inspiring story!

I love a good werewolf romance but they can get repetitive. Prepare for divergence with this one!!

Nolan the “spare” alpha heir has been bullied his entire life but his entire life changes when Archer his brother is killed and he becomes the next Alpha. He goes away to a neighboring pack to train to become and alpha and for the first time in his life finds friends and excels but still doesn’t believe his pack will accept him as Alpha when he returns.

Without giving away major story lines this book is full of turmoil personal growth slow burn romance action and has a lot of heart. The ending left me in tears… albeit happy tears

Nicely done book!

I have such a weakness for cover art and this is a perfect example of why ❣️📕

So Sol is Mr May and Ember has always has a soft for him but he’s also been her mentor and guide at the firehouse ….

Sol got hurt saving 2 children and he’s hailed a hero by many and rightly so but in his own eyes he’s a failure and he tries to drown his sorrows in the bottle when he’s forced to retire ….

Ember reaches out to him and soon enough friendship grows into something deeper and stronger well it flames up into hot passion 🔥

Sol is older than Ember and I think it’s just what she needs band I’ve always been one to like an older man 😉

Loved you Ember and Sol ❣️🔥

The Last Lie Told (Finley O’Sullivan Series Book 1) by Debra Webb – Review by Colleen Noyes

The Last Lie Told (Finley O’Sullivan #1)The Last Lie Told by Debra Webb
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Holy YES PLEASE! I got this book early as part of the Kindle first program. It is set in Nashville, Tennessee one of my favorite places. Right from the beginning you can sense the mystery, suspense, and secrets. This book had me hooked from page one and never let go. The character of Finley is a very complex character that I appreciate tremendously. There are so many facets to her you’re not sure what is what or who she really is until you dive deeper into the story.

This story has many layers of suspense not just on the case Finley and Jack are working, but with Finley, her past, and her husband. The intrigue as you turn each page grows and you find yourself on the edge of your seat unable to stop turning pages.

The last chapter of this book was so amazing with more twists and turns than you ever saw coming. I cannot wait to see what happens or what is discovered regarding Finley and Derrick. This was my first book by Debra Webb and now I must go buy more!

Falling in love with a pop starlet has its drawbacks

Lack of privacy, for one

Gossip, for another

But falling in love with Kiki Ramirez was the best thing I’ve ever done

And the stupidest

One story planted by her agent and now I look like a fool

Played by the starlet

Looking like a simp for the world to see

But none of its true and I can’t defend my woman how I want

The urge to fight for her, to defend her is too strong

Even against the Hollywood machine working hard to keep us apart

Falling in love with a civilian wasn’t part of the plan

I didn’t believe in love

Not for me and not for my life

But a small town mayor was the man who’d torn down my walls

Snuck past my defenses

And now with our future hanging in the balance its up to me to find a way to make it all work

A crazy agent

A ravenous paparazzi

And a pregnant belly I’m powerless to hide

I want Eric and the life I see for us

But how can I invite this madness into his quiet, small town life?

Blood & Vengeance (The Casket Girls Book 2) by A.D. Brazeau – Review by Crystal Jimmo

Blood & Vengeance (The Casket Girls #2)Blood & Vengeance by A.D. Brazeau
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

To be honest I was a little sad that this wasn’t centered around Geer and Theron, but it was nice to see it from Desiree’s perspective and how she felt with all of the events that happened. In walks Jaxon who turns her world upside down. The two bicker and fight like siblings it was a breath of fresh air. Poor Theron has his hands full with Desiree, and the situations she gets into is funny and scary at the same time. The brief view we see from Geer made my heart hurt and want more information, but I know she will be okay. With witches, vampires and demons oh my! Throw in a little romance and you have a wonderful story. It was written wonderfully with no hiccups. I can’t wait to see what book 3 brings, and I hope i get some answers!

I read this story in one sitting! I took an immediate liking to all the characters and their differences. They’re no stranger to tragedy and rough situations, but are a close knit family and the new nanny Beccy fits right in. This definitely was a wholesome cowboy romance and I can’t wait to visit these characters again in future installments of this series.

I look forward to reading more of Edith’s books! I can tell she is very knowledgeable about horses and writes a story you could make into a movie. It was an entertaining read and I can’t wait to read more. Thrilling and romantic! A great combo.

The Second Alpha HeirThe Second Alpha Heir by C.L. Ledford
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Totally Brilliant!! I loved this book from beginning to end full of action, love, werewolves, fated mates and moments that left me speechless. The story of what fate has in store when you are only the second son of an Alpha….Nolen was just that. Nolen was small and not as strong as his older brother Archer. When fate had other plans…Nolen is trained to become the new Alpha of the Rhyolite Pack and is determined to make his family and late brother proud. There are definite obstacles that try and hinder Nolen from becoming a successful Alpha….I was rooting for Nolen all the way from the training to his friendship with Sawyer and finding his mate.

This book was totally fantastic and highly recommended…I look forward to more books from this author!!

Secrets, lies and drama
This book is interesting and deals with some tough issues with sensitivity. Holly and Nathan felt genuine and the romance aspect was well done. There were moments within the story where I felt disconnected and the story lulled but there was an emotional undertone that kept me reading. YA romance with a little bit more.

To be a Fae Guardian (Realm Chronicles Book 2) Audio Book by Tricia Copeland – Review by Shelly Kittell

This story is so packed full of action, adventure, suspense, and intrigue. Titania is one of my favorite fantasy characters. She is badass and strong by putting her kingdom and people before everything else. She really isn’t afraid to break laws to protect people. This is book 2 of the series and continues Titania’s adventures of dealing with consequences of trying to protect the kingdom. Now one person is facing those consequences. Can she save him and her kingdom? She has so much pressure all around her and secrets to hide. The author does a great job in writing her and developing the plot around her struggles. It’s been a delight to listen this story. I’ve enjoyed going through and hearing Titania battle through and get what she needs. I have read this story but to listen to it on audio gives it a whole new level of comprehension because you can picture it, listen and basically create your own picture in your mind. It’s another level of imagination. The narrator did a great job of changing the voices around and giving excitement to the story. She kept the story going. I really enjoyed the story. Everything came together and made it all work.

Levi (The Brothers of Creekside Ranch Book 1) by Edith Mackenzie – Review by Jennifer Gordon

LeviLevi by Edith Mackenzie
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This was an enjoyable and engaging western style, clean romance, which kept me happily turning the pages. Bella Orstwell, is an English aristocrat who helped get her abusive Russian mafia boyfriend arrested, but is now in hiding whilst awaiting the trial. Bella has to pretend to be both the housekeeper to the Delaney Brothers and a nanny to their younger sister. Although all three of the brothers are attractive, it’s cowboy, Levi that catches her eye, however, it’s also ex-Navy SEAL Levi who is in charge of protecting her. Levi is busy enough helping his brothers run the ranch and raising his little sister, without having to take on a ‘babysitting gig’.
He definitely wasn’t expecting Bella who is both annoying and lovely at the same time, and all he can think about is kissing her, when he’s not ordering her around, for her safety. Meanwhile, Bella is determined not to follow all of Levi’s many orders, but although she has sworn off men, there is something about wounded hero Levi which makes her want to heal him. Soon the couple have more dangerous things to deal with as any HEA can only happen if Levi can keep Bella alive when her past comes looking for her. The main characters are all likeable and relatable, and the chemistry between Levi and Bella came across in the narrative and in their banter. I was hooked from start to finish and I felt immersed in the storyline, which was a good mix of, drama, suspense and romance.

This book was good for my 8 and 9 year old daughters. They love mermaids, and this book was no exception. This was a quick read for both girls, who are still working toward being strong, independent readers.

Trezzie the Mermaid has found a rock that she thinks is interesting, and gives it to her friend Maia. Maia is playing with another friend, Fig, who can’t see Trezzie and feels left out when Maia and Trezzie are playing together. Trezzie wants Maia and Fig to try to figure out what the design is in the stone she hands them, but due to Fig making a water magnifying glass, they are able to see that it’s not a design, but rather a small creature.

If I could give a series more than 5 stars it would be this one. I’m so glad I started with the set because once I got started I couldn’t put it down!

Every story follows one of the Dark Brothers finding their true love. There is some dark themes , suprising match ups (think … NUN!), intense chemistry, opposites attract and then a finale that will answer the questions I had to know about finally defeating their father or “donor”.

Dark Romance , spice, intrigue , Action… this one has it all and you don’t want to miss it!!!

I love being able to follow up a good book with the audio version so I was excited to get to read this one. I thought the narrator did a great job of bringing the story and the characters to life. They made them feel so much more real and I could visualise everything with ease.

Levi is an ex-SEAL that is settling into life on the family ranch. After the tragic loss of both their father and stepmother, Levi and his two brothers are also raising their much younger sister. Things become interesting when Levi is asked to keep a mysterious woman safe so she can testify against her criminal ex-boyfriend. Posing as “Beccy”, a nanny for their sister, Bella is not anyone’s nanny, let alone housekeeper. One small act upsets the whole operation and puts the little sister at risk. How can Bella make things right with the brothers, especially Levi? This is going to be an excellent series. The first book sets the stage for some interesting stories to follow. Highly recommended!
