This might be one of my new favorite authors. Crime novels are some of my favorite genres and this book was in my top 3 of favorite crime books. The character development and growth was amazing. You could feel everything Rose, Bobbi, and Max felt. They were so well written. The storyline was simply put … intense. You instantly hate Andrew as he seeks out Bobbi, he is the first villain. The bathtub murderer is then revealed and you encounter villain number two. The author successfully blended both antagonists storylines the complete our protagonists. The ending was equally great and frustrating. I will be counting down the days until the next book is released.

The Vilification of Aqua Marine: Superhero Slice of Life Misadventure is the first book in the Working Masks series. I have enjoyed other books by this author before and was glad to see she had a new series. The story is a delightful look at an upcoming superhero or supervillain. Aqua Marine is challenged in deciding what route she will take in life. I enjoyed her character, interactions with her parents, and potential archnemesis, The Overlord of the Dance. The story is original and interesting. This is a quick read, and I didn’t want to put it down. I enjoyed the characters and look forward to how they progress in this series. I think this can be enjoyed by teens and older. I am looking forward to grabbing the next book in the series.

This book has an interesting premise of hunters and demons. Some hunters have special abilities and Rovena is one of those hunters. She has the ability to touch someone and see their memories. This comes in handy and is used by the members of the monastery to gain information on the death of humans or demons. Rovena is on a case to determine why an innocent human was targeted by demons. Lakyn has his own issues. He ends up on the surface in possession of the body Rovena is cased with. Here upon starts the tale Rovena and Lakyn. Enemies with no trust in each other.

This book was a hard one to put down. I was so sucked into the story that I managed to finish it within a day of reading it. Very well written and has amazing suspense throughout the entire book.
This book follows the stories of the four main characters alternating between all of their point-of-views. You start out by meeting Rosalie and learning about her condition and how she currently feels about her situation. Then you meet Cate the caregiver that was a nurse overseas for the military. Next comes Ana the intelligent therapist. Finally, Vincent is Rosalie’s husband and Cate’s boss.
This book has a lot of twists and unexpected events that occur keeping you on your toes and not wanting to put the book down. In this book, you get to experience a story unlike a lot of others out there right now. The book has a very unexpected ending and makes you want to reread the book to see if you can find something you missed that led to the ending. I would recommend this book to anyone who likes suspense and wants a great book to binge read.

This book really grabbed my attention right away, the cover was full of vibrant colors, the synopsis was intriguing and of course I was super excited for a female detective as the main character. This story was packed full of action, great character development, vivid details and so much more that I physically couldn’t put it down. While I have read a couple of books by this author this one is definitely my favorite and I can’t wait to see what our author comes up with next.

This book is not something I would typically read, but I am so glad I did. The wording is impeccable and the way the story unfolds is intriguing. It really draws you in and you just want to find out what happens next. Rovena is a strong, mighty, and solid hunter. She is definitely a force to be reckoned with. I cannot wait for the next book in the series!

I was pleasantly surprised with Something About Aimee. S. E. Smith did an amazing job of drawing the reader in from the first chapter and never letting go! I found myself on the edge of my seat, invested in the romance between Aimee and Qadir. The descriptions of the different settings makes the reader feel like you are on the streets with Aimee or in the desert with Qadir. S. E. Smith uses great character building and an opposites attract romance, which I absolutely loved. There are so many twists and turns in the story, but somehow, it all meshes well. Something About Aimee is like a modern-day Cinderella mixed with a crime drama, complete with quick love and sneaky international criminals! I cannot wait to read more books by S. E. Smith.

I found this to have a really similar vibe to shows like Lucifer and Warrior Nun on Netflix. There aren’t a lot of written stories to include this genre, to the level of detail that Kristy gives us, which is just #LOVE. “Tale of a Body Thief” includes demon hunters, demons (obviously), monks, nuns, a monastery, a heap of investigation intrigue, and so much more you will just have to read to find out.
Rovena is the badass, gothic demon slayer we all wish we could be. She’s already a pretty competent individual in her trade, equipped with some unique abilities to assist her mission. Not only is she capable, witty, and a total force to be reckoned with, the author brings her to life as a real down to earth person.
Along side her trying to save humanity, are her fellow hunters. But can she trust them totally? In the midst of some pretty epic (and graphic) battle scenes, Rovena is forced to use quick and critical thinking. There is so much diversity across the board for all characters. We want good vs. evil to be drawn with a clear black and white line, but that’s not how life works for us, or for Rovena.
We as the readers are guaranteed a journey with this heroine to some pretty unexpected outcomes, a lesson in self discovery, and you might just find yourself questioning your own reality. I just love that Kristy leaves room in the world development to lure you into the next book. You really have to think for yourself, and ask yourself “is anyone safe?”. Easy to read and understand the picture that Kristy paints for the reader.

Katherine has Visions that lead her to Golden Crest and to TJ, the faceless man in her head. Newly divorced and pregnant, she is initially hesitate but cannot deny the instant familiarity and pull towards him. She is determined to start over with a clean slate and do it on her own, but she soon learns she doesn’t want to do it without TJ. TJ has recently returned home after retiring from a successful NFL career and wears his heart and his sleeve, which has resulted in a ver bad relationship and a hard break up. He is trying to be more guarded with his heart but he also cannot deny the pull towards Kat and wants to give it all to her. The character development is very good and the story gives you all the feels. You can’t help but get caught up in the story and root for Kat, TJ and Toby

Aqua Marines mother was a supervillian while her father was a superhero. She wants so very badly to follow in her father’s footsteps. Her powers are quite weak compared to the other superheroes so she tries harder than anyone else to make a name for herself. Aqua can only manipulate a cup of water at a time. One evening when she is taking on a villain called The Overlord of the Dance, she accidentally grabs the water from his heart, killing him in the process. This sends Aqua into an existential crisis and gets her to rethink her future as a hero.
Aqua finds out that the Overlord of the Dance actually didn’t die and is now out for revenge. Calling her out of her depression, she finds reason to continue her journey of becoming the superhero she always wanted to become with the help of her new nemesis.
This book was exciting enough to maintain the interest of multiple audiences. It is geared for a younger audience but I enjoyed it quite immensely. There was action, emotion, heroes, villains, a bit of politics regarding both things and even a little splash of romance. I highly recommend this book if you are looking for a fun read.

Wow, what an epic read! The details, scenery, and story were all intertwined so perfectly. The balance between humour and fear kept me flipping pages. I loved the characters and found them highly relatable. This is just an iconic gem and I’d highly recommend it to anyone!

I was drawn to this novel originally because I looked forward to a book with a female detective as a main character. So many novels have your typical, tortured male detective and I was looking forward to a different approach to your average crime thriller. I really enjoyed the book as early as the first few pages. The author uses a lot of clever metaphors and the style of writing seemed unique to me. Maybe just because I read so many of the same authors, it was a treat to read something from someone new to me. The author has a way of painting a vivid picture- this makes the trigger warning at the bottom of the synopsis all that more important. While there is some graphic subject matter, the author really does navigate the topics in a well written, entertaining matter that reads as smoothly as watching a crime movie on the big screen. The book quite literally left me wanting more and I look forward to book number two.

I don’t think my heart can take it…I thought Part 1 was a gut punch…this book…Part 2…..my emotions are running full steam…
Part 2 picks up after Part 1…I highly recommend reading this series in order to get to know that back story lines and characters. Chains is rescued after being held captive, but the Grimm Wolves can only do so much. Chains is tormented by his past heavily. In order to get back to be with his two loves, Winnie and Jackson, Chains must find out who is responsible for the captivity.
I love Winnie, Jackson and Nicholas (Chains) together as a triad. You truly feel the love between the three..but also the demons that haunt Chains..my heart…. The torture, intense and heartbreaking moments that Chains endured I could only possibly imagine.

This is the first book I’ve read by the author. The Vilification of Aqua Marine is a fantastic read. I had a fun time reading this. If you’re a young adult this will be perfect for you. This is also the first book in the Working Masks Series.
Rhiannon, aka Aqua Marine, wants nothing but to follow in her dad’s footsteps. She wants to be a superhero. She tries and ends up hurting a man. Then she gets a chance at the hero thing only to find that her mother has set it all up. The quote I chose for Rhiannon is: “I didn’t ask you to do this! I mean, come on, this is absurd. You’re committing a public disturbance at best right now.”
Mack, Aka Overlord of Dance, is supposed to be dead. Now he’s not and now he’s trying to prove that he can be a villain. Aqua Marine is his enemy or at least she’s supposed to be. Then changes and now he’s changing his tune. The quote I chose for Mack is: “That is a horrible answer. You can’t leave it like that.”

I have read many books by this author and have really enjoyed each and every one. Ritual Obsession is a romantic suspense tale. This great story is enthralling and engaging and it certainly had me engrossed. The danger, suspense and mystery, lies and deceit are raw and innocent lives are being taken because of one evil monster. I spent a lot of time with my heart in my throat and my jaw clenching whilst reading this book. It is a thrilling and enticing read that is nonstop action from the start to finish. R.L. did a masterful job of weaving it all together to come out with a story that will have your heart pounding and your emotions on high alert.

There are people out there who will do anything to make a quick buck and there are those out there who fall prey to these people, but when one shifty couple plunder a UFO and try to sell the pilfered items, they are found out and get into more trouble than they expected and now they have to work out how to escape from the predicament they find themselves in.
It all starts with a filthy man, moves to a drunken man in a loveless marriage working in a shop with questionable morals and motives, through to someone who charms their way into selling wares of questionable value to those who are easy to fleece. From here, an old house is discovered which is ripe for rumours and riches, but is it really worth the hassle associated with gaining access to the contents within?
With aliens, monsters, madness and love all taking turns to twist and manoeuvre pieces into place, so that devious experiments can be carried out, but is there any escape from probably pain and possible death, when you are a terrified female, paired with a blundering fool? This is a story told through the eyes of many different people, some are loveable and some are not, but the overarching theme of this comedic horror will keep you keep you reading and likely giggling until the end.

Aqua Marine is a young woman with dreams of being a superhero and despite having stellar parent, one a villainess and the other a superhero, she hasn’t quite inherited their prowess. The only thing she can do is control a cup of water, she can make it swirl, move and jump, but that’s it and what kind of rubbish power is that?
One day she is watching the news with her mother when there is a report of a villain, the Overlord Of The Dance who is strutting his stuff and using this to make everyone around him strut their stuff as well. He isn’t the most well known villains, but Aqua Marine spots her chance to make a name for herself and decides to confront him and stop him in his musical tracks. When she gets there however, he is less than impressed with her powers and pretty much laughs at her attempts to stop him, that is until he feels something squeezing and pulling him backwards, that something is actually a someone, it is Aqua Marine.
All she thinks is that she has hold of a cup of water, but until she watched him die in front of her, Aqua Marine doesn’t realise that the cup of water she was controlling was in the Overlords heart, so she calls in some help and he is rushed away in an ambulance. A few days after she fears she has killed the poor man and she is ready to turn herself in, instead she attends a function with her mother, something she is unwilling to, but expected to attend and it seems that her opportunity to become a hero has passed her by, that is until the Overlord appears and insists that she becomes his arch nemesis.
Will Aqua Marine take up the offer of being the hero nemesis to the Overlords villainy, or is the road to hell paved with good intentions, which are not the same as what everyone else wants? This is a super fun fantasy adventure where heroes and villains abound and mayhem ensues, all while you try and figure out which side will win in the end.

This book is about Bobbi, her new job as a NYPD agent and her coworkers at NYPD. In this book these NYPD agents are trying to catch a serial killer while going through multiple life changing events. Bobbi and Rose are an excellent example of strong relatable female characters and make you feel for them when they go through heartbreak and traumatizing experiences. I really enjoyed the steady progress of the story and the fact that there are multiple storylines. It definitely hits all the marks but it could be very heavy sometimes as it touches the subject of murder, sexual assault and the aftermath of surviving sexual assault. The characters are funny, relatable and intriguing. I gotta admit that the character Max stole my heart and his relationship with Bobbi had me going through all the feelings. On the other hand some characters will make your blood boil (no spoilers so I’ll let you decide who they are by yourself). This book is definitely a great start to the series. I can’t wait to read more from RL Dunn.

Murder in the lightning room is one of those books that is so different from any other book you’ve read. I’m always excited to learn about history, and lately I’ve been digging into a lot of non fiction books. I was excited to read this as you find out that the main character Cora is living at the time of Nikola Tesla, and working so hard to solve the mystery behind his apprentice’s disappearance. With every chapter I was just itching to find out what Cora would find out next. When I realized she was basically investigating the disappearance I was even more invested in the book. I could barely put it down! I’m looking forward to more of the authors work. The twists and turns and the story telling ability if the author was very vivid! I literally read books just to escape d somewhere and this book does not disappoint!

I went into this one not really knowing what to expect as I’m not usually one to pick up a “cop drama” type novel. Boy, do I need to rethink that. Dunn writes amazing, well-rounded characters, and fleshes them out as they “come into view”. By this I mean as they become more important to the story and the main characters, which I love! I’ve always despised having an entire cast named and described to me, then having to come back some hundred pages later when some of them become pertinent. Our main characters are Two female detectives, Rose and Bobbi. This follows them through both their personal and professional time while working the case of the Bathtub killer. Both women experience some major growth as characters and we really get to see that. There are some graphic scenes, and the cliffhanger at the end definitely had me screaming at my kindle app! Well played Dunn, well played.

Stitch by Stitch is a cosy mystery tale. It is a small-town romance with some humour. Marie-Thérèse has given readers a story that is an intriguing murder mystery. I really enjoyed the wit. The flawed, tough and sassy protagonist is likeable and relatable. Some characters you will like and others you just want to ring their necks. With one chauvinistic ex-husband, a boy who left her broken hearted, kids to look after and much much more Marie-Thérèse certainly puts Elizabeth through her paces.
Hoping to better her life for herself and her children Elizabeth finds herself falling in an even bigger hole.
This is a wonderful page turner that is easy to read which makes it perfect for a few hours of escaping the real world.

Elizabeth is my hero. She is a single mom working to recover from a bad divorce. She has a crappy ex and an ex-sister-in-law with a bad attitude. This poor gal has family drama coming out of the corners. You name it, she’s dealing with it. Toss in an ex-boyfriend who’s now the police chief (he happens to be investigating a murder). You’ve got drama, murder, romance, humor. Who needs ‘Real Housewives…’? I’ve got Elizabeth and her issues. I fell in love with this story. So relatable because the struggles are real. She’s just trying to take care of her family and dig a little time for her. She got duped into an “opportunity” to sell lingerie but, oops….her upline was murdered. Now, she’s stuck with this large investment to try to get rid off. I do fell the murder took a back seat while the other issues got more front line but it all ended coming together nicely. I don’t think I’ve laughed quite so much. Minus the murder, I’ve lived most of that life. My favorite part was watching Elizabeth grow and discover what she wanted as a person and going for what was important to her. It can be sad to see the romance not work out but to see her grow was exhilarating. Good book that I will recommend to all.

I enjoyed this paranormal story. I enjoyed how the author was able to use her writing skills to bring the story to life. The author’s attention to details made the story realistic which added to the story. This is a well written story about Rovena. She is used to hunting and killing demons but now she needs to keep one alive which totally changes the game for her. She is such a strong, supportive character that she made the story easy to read. I enjoyed how the author pulled me into the story from the beginning. This is a fast paced story that is hard to put down. An engaging story that you don’t want to miss. I really enjoyed reading this story and I highly recommend it.

Her job gets turned upside down when she is tasked with watching over a body that was originally in the morgue. Never before has she seen such an occurrence. Turns out the body is no longer inhabited by the original soul and now houses a demon. Rovena must keep him alive until they know what is going on. More demons are coming to Earth than ever before, something isn’t right in the underworld. Can she do this job correctly or will all Hell break lose, literally? This was such a fun read! This book kept me entertained and wanting to find out what happened next.

What a start to a new series! This book grabs your attention right from the word go and really doesn’t let up at all. I loved everything about this book – the characters, the story, the writing style. The author has created a book that really stays with you even after you have finished reading. The book is entertaining as well, in a way I don’t often find books like this to be. Honestly, it ticked all the boxes for me and if this is just the start I can’t wait to see what is to come next.

Goddess of Everything is unlike anything I have ever read. It is twisted, entertaining, and I couldn’t figure out what was going to happen next! It isn’t a shocking, too-scared-to-sleep type of read but will instead invade your brain slowly, almost unnoticeably, which is scarier to me. There is nothing like the love a mother has for her son, but this read will have you questioning everything. Are your own perception filters blocking you from seeing something that is obvious to others? Gabriél has been raised to love his mother above all else, but once he marries Consuela, there is no black and white choice anymore it seems. Everything is a shade of gray, and he can’t figure which way to go. Helping kids is Gabriél’s passion yet he finds something disturbing about some of the happenings at the orphanage where they live, and where his mother is in charge. I like that Consuela tries to gently yet consistently help her husband come to the truth without forcing her view onto him. There are some disturbingly graphic parts of this story that may affect sensitive readers but overall, this is a tremendous book.

This is part 2 of Chains story and I could not wait to dive right in, especially after reading part 1 (A Tormented Man’s Soul). Chains has been through so much in life that up until now he hasn’t been able to truly see all the good in it. We get to see so much growth in his character in this book. This story brought out so many emotions and I had a hard time putting it down once I started. The author did an exceptional job pulling me into the storyline and connecting me to the characters with her attention to detail. I have loved every book in this series and it is my recommendation that you read them. This is a must read.
