The Vilification of Aqua Marine by Megan Mackie – Review by Deborah White

The Vilification of Aqua Marine (Working Mask, #1)The Vilification of Aqua Marine by Megan Mackie

I wasn’t sure what to expect when starting this book, but the cover art caught my eye so I decided to read it, and I’m glad I did. The story of superheroes and villains was well portrayed and left me wanting more. The book is geared towards a younger crowd, but poses as a great read even for older audiences.
Aqua Marine aka Rhiannon, has to face the dilemma of having both a superhero and an evil villan for parents. Her mother Black Fox, constantly reminds her that even though she is retired, she still possesses great influence. While she tries to be a great superheroe like her dad Reboot. I highly enjoyed the push and pull relationship dynamic of mother and daughter and thought it added an air of comic relief to an already enjoyable story.
I would recommend this story to anyone who is interested in a story of someone finding themselves in a world full of people who constantly try to persuade them to be who they want instead of being true to themselves. This story is full of adventure, sibling rivalry, and hero villian dilemma that makes for an interesting read with surprising twists. This book left me wanting more and I couldn’t put it down. I’m looking forward to the next book in the series to learn more about Rhiannon and the heroes and villains of Phoenix City.
