Fairly Royal was good, but I struggled getting into it at first. By categorizing it as a “slow-burn” romance, I feel like that was an understatement. It’s definitely slow, but even with that being the case, you need to push through. It’s worth it.
A sweet romance by an Earl and commoner, but is it really viewed that way? Maybe to some of the characters in the book, but it’s a romance about two people who are finally giving something a chance. Though it may have started out as pretend.
Philip, Earl of Arburne, and Anna have known each other for years. Her brother’s best friend, that she’s been secretly crushing on since the first time she saw him.
So what happens when a tabloid speculates they are together?
Philip gets this idea that they could pretend. He must’ve been foolish, because one can never truly keep feelings out of it. Anna on the other hand will take what she can get, while trying to protect her heart in the process. Sure enough his plan backfired.
Now pushing back against society Philip and Anna need to learn how to not only be themselves with one another, but also how to navigate the upper class. All the while dealing with Philip’s mother and other family members trying to remind Anna she doesn’t belong. As well as trying to make her run.
Will Philip & Anna Survive?
Will his mom come out victorious, in her own right?
So many questions and so many answers, just keep in mind it may take time to get there.
