This is the first book of the series. After being sent to the academy, Makayla learns a lot about herself. She has hidden powers as well as hidden family secrets. With her power she learns to be a digger. A digger is someone that keeps the dead in the ground. There are some that do not think that a digger is necessary, but soon discover how much they are actually needed. This is a fun read and I cannot wait for the next book.
