Amaleigha is a five year old girl who sees the world in a different way. She enjoys the little things in life, all the way down to the grass between her toes or the insects on the ground. She is very observant and enjoys the forrest and all there is to see, smell, hear and touch. She loves it so much that she wants the whole world to be able to experience it with her. Then she gets an idea, and with her families support, she makes her idea a reality.
This is such a neat story and it teaches kids to dream big, believe in themselves and with hard work they can make a big difference.

Jorja Knight is a private investigator. After receiving a phone call to look into a death that was ruled as an accident, she stumbled on something way bigger than she could ever imagine. Jorja began traveling down a rabbit hole of clues where more bodies also showed up. It seems like every death is connected to a jade statue of a jaguar that could possibly be worth millions or could be a fake.

There are twists and turns at every corner followed by a lot of obstacles that Jorja has to jump over. This case is consuming her every move, it even affects her casual relationship she has with Luis, a police officer.

One thing that made me really happy was that the book was set in Canada. As a Canadian myself, it was really refreshing to recognize places mentioned. At one point it even mentioned the province I live in which isn’t very well known.

This is a quick and fun small town romance that I found to be entertaining from Page 1. I lived the characters in this book. They were charming and fiesty and just great to read about. The main characters had a great chemistry. They seemed to be so different from each other but worked really well.
As the first book I have read by this order I thought this was a great introduction. It was short an easy to read but gave the perfect insight into her writing style. And overall great book.

Fantastic writing, great storytelling and a real gem of a book!

The main character, Soraya is a well rounded character who has yet to tap into her full potential. In this book she heads up the investigation into the killing of the Elders. She finds herself in a pickle when using her new found leadership skills while dealing with the Circle, only to find an antagonist is waiting to try their hand at leadership.

The need to unite together may take some convincing but can they survive without it!? The power struggle is real and creates a lot of drama and action in this book which is fitting for the finale of this trilogy.

I think readers will become true fans after reading this book, no matter if they’ve read the previous titles in this trilogy. The author’s brilliant talent shines throughout this story.

A fast-paced tale of romantic suspense that will have you on the edge of your seat. I found the narration to be quite fascinating. His voice was perfect for adding the right tough of suspense. That plot, the author wrote one that flows until BAM, there’s a twist and it continues through the story. I love stories like that. The characters were well developed and written into the story well. I found myself engaged into the story from the beginning. The only thing missing was my ear buds so I could listen to this all the time. Excellent story.

I was pleasantly surprised with this book, I did not realize it was the 3rd book of a series but I was still able to follow the story line! The way Brenda Hardwick pulls you into the story with emotion, connections to the ancestors and how magic is not the easy way out but does have consequences. I really enjoyed reading about Miss. Soraya and the other witches who all had unique powers and had their own apprentices to teach. They really felt like a family; they worked at doing what was best and to protect their family throughout the book.
The plot revolves around an enemy that wants to remove their circle for good. Hard decisions are made and they can be felt by everyone in the end. This book pulls you in and takes you for an exhilarating ride!! I very much enjoyed reading this book and look forward to reading more books by Brenda Hardwick!

The premise of this book is Caspian has to find a way to get a Frisbee out of a tree and while doing that (by putting on his Hot Chocolate Socks that his Grandpa gave him for his Unbirthday) he finds a kitten in the tree that continues to put itself in dangerous situations. Caspian follows the kitten to keep it out of trouble but in a startling turn of events, the kitten hops on the Frisbee and flies away. I understand the general concept of teaching children to problem-solve and use their imagination; however, this book takes too many leaps and bounds. I read this to my 6-year- old and they didn’t enjoy it as much as Wickstrom’s other books. I like the premise of the book, I just think that the events happen to fast or suddenly for them to make any sort of “sense” for the reader.

Another lovely children’s story that is filled with rhymes and illustrations about pirates. I loved it. While I have never considered where pirates go on vacation this book did make me think about that. The kids were fascinated with the illustrations. In fact, they would not allow me to turn the page until they had inspected and critiqued every single item. They were trying to name all the items in the treasure chest which I found to be so much fun and entertaining. This is a wonderful book. I highly recommend it for your kids, gift giving and even donating to your kid’s school library.

This was a very emotional book to read. The author’s writing is so emotive that you can’t help but feel every emotion that the characters are going through. The changing of the landscape added an extra special dimension to the story as you went along on the adventures with them to different places. As the story progresses you learn of the heartbreak and struggles that both Enzo and Phoebe have been through in their pasts and what they go through together. There are a few subject matters that maybe triggers for some people because the author talks about them in an open and honest raw way. This is story about finding love in another person but only after you’ve found love with yourself and I think that’s a very strong message. I will advise having tissues to hand because you are going to be take on a very emotional journey.

I absolutely loved this book! What a beautiful work of historical fiction! Larkin’s description and detail of the costumes for the masquerade ball were ethereal. I felt completely drawn into the story at that point. I also loved that this book gives off a Cinderella vibe but Kosta is the one that knows who Charmaine is. The emotions between Kosta and Charmaine are so intense and romantic that you can truly feel their passion. Charmaine’s character herself was really emotionally gripping with everything she is dealing with and the responsibilities she has on her shoulders. I found her relatable and Larkin’s writing makes it so easy to feel any emotion she is trying to portray. This book also exceeded my expectations with how many thrills and twists there were. It really kept me turning pages and I was pleasantly surprised. I am really looking forward to reading the next book in this series, Spellbound Seduction (The Brightley Sisters Book 2). I highly recommend giving this series a try. You’ll love what you find.

I am spellbound by this series! I adore Historical Fiction and Romance and Halley Larkin writes this series with such finesse! So far Arabella, or Bella is my favorite out of the three sisters. I was always the shyest one in my family so her and her hobbies really resonated with me. I also really enjoyed the inclusion of witchcraft. The family folklore and herbal remedies bring a new intrigue into The Brightley Sisters. The second chance at love romance was also really cute and had me rooting for Bella and Thomas’ relationship. With family secrets, lies, and true loves that were thought dead this book delivers and surpasses what it promises! I can’t wait for the final installment Enchanted Engagement to see how Larkin ends this utterly enchanting series.

Mira and Carl are siblings. They disagree on EVERYTHING unless it’s about their dad. They want to do everything together with their dad. They are always arguing who’s better at what in everything. The kids go to the beach with their dad, Carl keeps having to rebuild his sand castle, because of course Mira destroys them all. Carl finally builds the best sand castle that can’t be destroyed, it’s time to go home and they are ready to start over again tomorrow.<br />This was an absolute adorable read especially for kids that have siblings because everything is so true!

Do not be put of by the strange name of this book as it is a really great story. Described as a grinchy/sunshine holiday romance, the author got this spot on. As my first time reading this author’s work, I was pleasantly surprised by a great story that flowed well and characters that I really engaged with. Don’t be scared of trying out authors who are new to you as there are really some gems out there and this belongs to that category.
Tenley, who doesn’t believe in love is invited to beautiful Hawaiian paradise of Kamana Wanalaya by Teagan, the self-confessed Love Guru to prove to her that love really is something to believe in and to hope for.
I loved Teagan and Tenley’s story. There is so much banter between the two of them that makes for some fun, enjoyable reading. Their chemistry is off the charts hot and makes for some steamy scenes in the book.
So can Teagan convince Tenley that love is something to wish for? Will she fall in love with the beautiful resort of Kamana Wanalaya? And will she fall in love with the beautiful, amazing, sweet man that is Teagan? I’d recommend you read this great book and find out the answers.

What an adorable story! I loved everything about this book. Not only did it teach kids, and adults, a lesson regarding how to get book boxes set up in your neighborhoods, but I loved that it also included other ethnicities as well. It even included some dialogue in Spanish, German, and Chinese. What a wonderful idea! I love that the main character is such a wonderful young girl that not only loves to read but wants to bring books to all the kids in her area. With the help of the adults around her she can accomplish her goal of bringing books of all languages to not only the book box but her school library too. This is a highly recommended book for kids. In fact, I am purchasing several for Christmas gifts. I encourage you to do the same. All kids need to read this book.

This is the story of Ted and Robyn who have been high school sweethearts until the unthinkable happens. Ted is wrongly accused of a crime and spends time in Prison. Robyn swears she will wait for him but he begins to think she has forgotten him. When he gets out and moves back home he returns to his family Christmas Tree Farm and hopes not to run into Robyn. Robyn has moved on with her life and is in a relationship with someone else although not happily. When Robyn and Ted do run into each other they can tell the feelings are still there. The more time they spend together the more those feelings come back. Ted is scared though and is terrified to give her his heart again. Will they be able to get the love back they had taken away from them? Read this awesome book to find out!

I haven’t been this interested in a mafia story in ages. I couldn’t put it down! Adrik and Annika are this unlikely, yet perfect pair that fit together in the most unexpected, wonderful ways.

Learning about Adrik’s traumatising past, along with Annika’s, and seeing the similarities was absolutely insane. There are twists, turns, and love in all corners of this story that will keep you on the edge of your seat for the entire book.

I loved every minute of this one, and I just KNOW you will too.

This sounded like an interesting story and I have read one other book by this author so I grabbed it. I was not as pleased with it as the previous one I read. It has a few funny moments but not a lot of laugh out loud (other than the sneeze comment). It seemed slowish and I found myself in the beginning skipping a bit. Once the story got going it was cute. Their interactions with each other are ideal.

In here there are a lot of secondary characters at the resort. I “felt” they must be previous characters as some of them get their own chapters (which is something I did not understand through most of the book). I see at the end they are from other books she has written. I like that idea but honestly I did not care when I was reading since I did not know them.

Overall this is cute and I liked it for the most part. The story was different and the two main characters both have strong beliefs for their cause. The grinch was the female which is a different angle and he is Mr Sunshine.

Amaleigha Loves a Good Story is another cute story by Janice Pratt. It’s such a sweet read. A beautifully illustrated children’s story that captures the imagination of both young, and old alike.
Amaleigha sets off again, to make more of a difference in her community coming up with another fantastic idea that she hopes will better her local community. She might be little, but she thinks big. And her community are about to reap the rewards of her clever mind.
As with Amaleigha’s other story, this book also inspires the imagination, but also promotes the idea that anything is possible if you put your mind to it. It has a sweet, interesting, and fun plot- with bright and colourful illustrations that will definitely hold a child’s interest. The messages are inspirational and easy for children to understand.
This cute and quirky story was engaging and fun, feeding both the imagination, as well as inspiring creative thinking, being productive, making a difference, reading, and contributing to community.

I didn’t realize this was book three until I had already read a few chapters. With that being said I was still able to get the concept of the stories. I thought it was an interesting read. I enjoyed the magic and use of ancestor and elders. It is such a common thing for black people to refer to our ancestors.

The main villain Shawn, was very well written. His pride and need for revenge got in his way. He was extremely self-serving and no one mattered but himself. And he even hated hisself because of his lineage. I plan on going back to read the first two installments. This was a good read and I recommend it to anyone looking for an ethnic fantasy novel.

Where Do Pirates Go On Vacation is the latest adventure in the Go On Vacation series by Kim Ann. My 6-year-old grandson and I really enjoyed this clever and engaging little adventure. It pulled us in from the beginning with interesting, bright, and colourful illustrations that captured our attention while bringing the whole story to life.
My Grandson read the story, and had no trouble reading, or understanding it. We enjoyed the rhyming verses that told the story as well as the guessing games along the way- following the pirates as they decided what to do, or where to go on their vacation. We discover if pirates even need a vacation as they are always sailing all over the world, looking for treasure and finding adventure….
Highly recommended. Engaging, fun, imaginative, and enjoyable children’s picture book. Looking forward to whatever Kim Ann brings us next.

This is quite an interesting book. I read this one without reading the first two books in the series so there was a bit of confusion for me on backstories and such. However, I do plan to go back and read the first two books, then this one again, for the proper context.

This book focuses on Soraya who is now in charge of leading The Circle. She finds herself in various predicaments having to go and save people, replace those lost, and strengthen the ones that she has. There is a lot of mischievousness going on with magic, a good vs evil point of view, removing people from the land due to the color of their skin, broken relationships, and so on. Not much different than what we see today (minus the magic).

The characters are very engaging and you’ll find yourself as a character in this story as well possibly. It’s hard to put down this read but, as previously mentioned, it would be beneficial to read the previous books first.
