This is a short historical romance. It takes place during prohibition in the 1920’s. After Bethany’s parents pass away, her aunt and uncle raise her. Being very strict religious people, they cloistered her away from experiencing life. Wanting to partake in her inheritance, they had plans for her. Bethany would soon turn eighteen and she had plans of her own. She wanted to travel and experience life. They travel to Arkansas to experience the medicinal baths for her aunt’s condition. Having a very sheltered upbringing, Bethany is way too innocent and gets herself into some trouble.

I enjoyed the time era the story took place in. The author did a great job world building with the flappers and the gangsters. The descriptions made me feel as if I was there. I understand that the main character was sheltered but Bethany was a little too naïve for me. I did like Paul a lot and the tenderness he felt for Bethany was sweet.
