Goldilocks and the Six Simple MachinesGoldilocks and the Six Simple Machines by Lois Wickstrom
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Goldilocks is a smart young girl and she loves to fix things, but when she went on a bicycle ride through the woods, the last thing she expected was to find an unlocked front door. The Three Bears are about to have breakfast, but unfortunately, it was too hot, so they decided to go for a walk, but when they returned, something was different.

Goldilocks discovers that the breakfast left out needs some adjusting, so she uses a machine to fix it, then she uses another one when she accidentally breaks a chair and after all that hard work, she finds a comfortable bed to lie in. Meanwhile the Three Bears find the breakfast, the chair and finally Goldilocks herself, they too use a machine to wake Goldilocks up and ask her if she fixed everything and when she says yes, they ask her to help on a final one, but can she help Baby Bear, or will she fail to find the machine she needs?

This is a charming and ingenius way to retell a family favourite and is something that all ages will be able to understand and enjoy.
