Again another astounding read, the continuation of the YA series about Makayla and her time at theGrave Digger Academy.
ANother year another set of changes, with a\ new head teacher, troublesome crones and more students: although not all of them are those we have met in previous years. There are places where people go to go away or be forgotten about and this involves Makayla.
The author continues to weave a web around these characters that makes you feel like you are part of the group. The development of these characters is continuous and interesting as they mature and grow. The world building is very involved.
A great continuation to series.
Vanishing Day (Logan McKenna Series Book 4) by Valerie Davisson – Review by Heidi Sturgess

I’ve enjoyed this series so far but I must be honest this one has been my favourite so far !

So Logan’s new neighbour and her daughter are definitely hiding and or running from someone or something and she’s concerned for them ….

Lori was married to a nasty , narcissistic, abusive bully but she’s on the run and she’s got her daughter with her but she also has something to hold over her husband and he knows it and he’ll do anything to get his hands on it and he wants his daughter things escalate but lucky for Lori and her little girl they have Logan on their side and she’s a tough cookie our girl 😉 even in the face of danger

This was really a good read , I was in the edge of my seat quite a few times and I appreciate that the author dealt with the subject of domestic abuse in an honest yet sensitive way 🥰

Looking forward to the next instalment ❣️📚

The Befallen (The Unsung and The Wolf Duology) by Cambria Williams – Review by Angelina Frazzini

The BefallenThe Befallen by Cambria Williams
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This book is the debut novel for this author. This is a fantasy novel. It started off kind of slow for me but to be fair, I don’t typically read fantasy so I’m just not used to this style of writing. These characters were so well written. You feel Sloane’s persistence and strength. Sloane doesn’t quit and it really inspires especially given everything she’s had to overcome. The book was so well written you’d never know it was a debut novel. It made it worth reading!

While fantasy is not normally my jam, I’m glad I gave this book a chance. If you enjoy fantasy, this one is definitely for you!

A Journey for Dorothy (The Reluctant Wagon Train Bride Series) by P. Creeden – Review by Katie Turner

A Journey for Dorothy (The Reluctant Wagon Train Bride #8)A Journey for Dorothy by P. Creeden
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

A Journey for Dorothy by P. Creeden is the 8th book to The Reluctant Wagon Train Bride series. Dorothy is a volunteer nurse after 25 years of working in the nursing field. Her husband has passed away several years prior and her only companion has been her faithful dog, Scout, whom she enjoys roaming the land with. An opportunity arises for her to move westward on the wagon train heading to Oregon, and she wants to go. But the thing she has been avoiding since the loss of her husband is her only ticket to make this new life possible.

Reverend Elias Stone’s faith calls him to travel from Tennessee to the west to bring aid to lost souls. Dangers along the way lead him to Dorothy and the two of them entwining in what they plan to be a short-lived relationship of sorts. But is that really want destiny has in store for them?

I really adored the strength both characters displayed and trusting in their faith to guide them on their adventure to a new life. Beautifully descriptive, characters were well developed and yet seemed to continue their growth on their journey. For a feel-good, sweet adventure, this story was very enjoyable to read and would recommend to anyone who enjoys historical, clean romance.

The Magic Man Audiobook (The Olympic Peninsula Book 3) by Cat Treadgold – Review by Laura Jones

The Magic Man is book 3 of the Olympic Peninsula Series, and I have not read the first two books. However, I found this book easy enough to follow along with (and now I want to go back and read the first two!). This book follows the story of Maddie and David. It’s obvious they should be together, but the timing is just never right for either of them. David has his fiancée Sylvia to worry about, and Maddie is having a fling (as she knows it will be) with Kilo. There are obvious feelings there, but it seems they have a hard time admitting it in the beginning. Also, we see David’s special talent for healing the ones he loves in this book, and Maddie learns the secret. A very interesting book, indeed! And so refreshing that the author, Cat Treadgold, narrates her own book!

Carrie’s Flight (Grandma’s Closet) by Lois Wickstrom – Review by Megan Conley

Carrie's Flight (Grandma's Closet)Carrie’s Flight by Lois Wickstrom
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Typically Wickstrom’s stories have a very overt lesson to be learned in them. This one takes a little longer to come to the surface. This is not one of my favorites from Wickstrom and it’s because I think that what she’s trying to convey to her readers isn’t overt enough. I understand that she is tackling the IDEA of loosing a loved one; however, it’s not clear and I think it may be hard for children to grasp that concept with the way that it’s been conveyed here. However, I think Wickstrom has opened the door for parents to talk about the loss of loved ones with this book and that may have been her intention all along. I always love Wickstrom’s combination of nature and science and learning into her life lessons. And per usual, the illustrations are wonderfully done. This book is just not as whimsical as her others (and dealing with the topic it does, it makes sense) so that could be why it just doesn’t catch my eye like most of her other books do. But like I said earlier, I think this book can open up a conversation about a very difficult topic.

Unexpected by Laylah Abrams – Review by Megan Conley

UnexpectedUnexpected by Laylah Abrams
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This is a very cute, angsty read that will have you silently cursing at the characters until the very end. It’s a whirlwind of a romance for Claire, the beautiful celebrity heiress, and Nick, the struggling artist, who meet while Nick is serving Claire and her friends all they could want and more at a high-end restaurant. Nick and Claire rendezvous by chance in the hallway that night and things go from there…but little do they realize that they are falling in love and that may pose a problem. I really enjoyed the plot line of this book and I absolutely loved that we get a dual POV in a roundabout way. The story is really sweet and does end in an HEA. The spice is there but it is very behind the scenes. I really recommend this book. It’s quick and great if you are wanting a palette cleanser between bigger reads.

Auctioned Surrender (Sinful Duets #2)Auctioned Surrender by Via Mari
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This was an amazing book. I couldn’t sleep until I finished it. It was a quick read because I became so involved in what was going on. There is so much in this book that I am having a difficult time trying to say why y’all should read it without giving anything away. You will get so emotionally involved in this duet that you will find yourself talking out loud to the characters and wanting to smack them at the same time. I always think that if you can get emotionally attached to the characters, that is how you know the book is written really well. The suspense in the stories if this duet is amazing. You will be on the edge of your seat waiting with bated breath to see what happens. You will also be blushing at the steam and romance of this story. The only exclaimer I can suggest is to be aware of your surroundings while reading this duet. I say that because I. did walkout loud and groan while reading this and my kids looked at me funny. I found myself having to walk around or to just stand up because of what was happening in this duet. This is an incredible duet that had me physically reacting to what was going on. You will not be disappointed when reading this.

A Journey for Dorothy (The Reluctant Wagon Train Bride Series) by P. Creeden

A Journey for Dorothy is the eighth book in The Reluctant Wagon Train Bride Series and is a wonderfully written Historical Romance. I’ve read a couple of books by this author and I really like her style of writing and her attention to detail. Her characters are fully developed and make the story come to life. This is a story about Dorothy who is a Widow and is still heart broken over loosing her husband she’s looking for something to make her happy she sets out on a journey to her sister’s hoping for a new life and fresh start. Reverend Elias is on a journey himself to the Wild West. Will he make there? These two are just wonderful characters both having heartache. Can they be what the other needs? I highly recommend reading this book to find out what happens next. I look forward to reading more from this Author.

This is the fourth book in this school age children’s book. The series is about a boarding school for children not only studying the expected curriculum but also learning ballet. We continue to learn about Lauren and Grace (the resident ghost and Lauren’s best friend) in this paranormal adventure series. There’s mischief, drama, loyal friends, some misunderstandings between good friends and so much more. The author has created wonderful characters and world where young readers can learn about friendships. Each book in this series can be read as a standalone but I recommend reading them in order. The books are geared toward 8-13 year olds but can definitely be read by those young at heart. I know I would have loved this series as a kid.

Encounters with Old CoyoteEncounters with Old Coyote by Laura Koerber
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This was a wonderful story of a woman’s life, and her search for the meaning of the world beyond. Andrea was a successful woman who loved to write and tell stories and was ready to leave this life behind after being told she had a short time left to live. After much planning and preparation, she travels to a place she deeply connects with and slips away while under the stars. Andrea has an out of body experience, realizing that she is now a ghost floating above her body, unsure what comes next. She comes upon a coyote, who she questions about all of the topics that have been weighing on her mind, but instead of giving her direct answers, as spiritual coyotes, tricksters, are well known to do, he tells her a story. Throughout the story we are told multiple stories, mostly by Andrea, who has a talent for recounting tales and stories. In the end the coyote tells a powerful tale to Andrea and a small group of friends while around a campfire, with Andrea snuggled into her sleeping bag, under the stars. This story was so beautifully written, and has such an impactful influence about it, with deeper meaning. I really enjoyed the telling of the tales between the two companions.

I was drawn in right from the start as with the others, the author’s writing style is wonderful. Lots of good twists and turns, drama and action to keep you going. The topic of sex trafficking is such an important topic in this world right now, and something to be aware off. All the characters are wonderfully written and well developed. Sweet Dreams By Claire is the second book in the Capture the Light series by Nanette Littlestone. This is the first book that I have read by this author, so I really wasn’t sure of what to expect from her writing- but do I love a sweet romance, and this promised to deliver that- so I one-clicked a copy and set off to explore.
This is a touching romance with magical realism, a little drama, family dynamics, baking, intriguing characters, emotion, a small-town setting, a mysterious antique brooch, feelgood moments, tender touches, sweet developments, and delightful details – which is all set against the picturesque backdrop of the Emerald Isle.
I loved meeting Claire and following along on her journey of discovery- self-discovery, discovering love, and more. Finn is such a great character- he’s arrived for his sister’s wedding, and the connection between him and Claire made the story quite romantic. They do have their challenges though- which the author cleverly wove into the story- adding a touch of drama and adding even more interest.
I will definitely be going back to read Book #1 (For the Love of Brigid) and finding out what happened there (it’s Brigid’s wedding in this book that brings Claire and Finn together) before continuing with the rest of this series.
Happy Reading…

Thank you, Nanette Littlestone!

Action-packed thrill ride! Pavlo maybe the alpha-hole that you think he is but he totally seems worth it. Regan is almost everything you want in a FMC, except too selfless. She should totally care about what happens to herself, which she never does.

Regan is a romance author on a short book tour with Pavlo, a spy thriller author. Pavlo is also a highly-skilled private security contractor. That part of Pavlo’s world is just kept on the DL. When Regan is unknowingly pulled into an assassination plot, she tries to figure it out on her own but gets in way over her head. Pavlo and his former SEAL friends are there to protect Regan from the crazies and, as it seems, herself.

There is a major twist when the action starts going down. People Regan thought were not loyal turn out to be her allies. People Regan thought would always have her back were only using her for their own benefit. All except Pavlo. He has been there from the beginning of this mess and despite him saying that he could only be a short-term situation, he appears to be very much in for the long-term.

This author writes genuine characters. There was some great banter. Even a few laughs along the way but what gets you the most is the selflessness Regan shows for her daughter. Fantastic read!

This book has a little bit of everything a hot protective alpha, mystery, danger and romance.

Pavlo and Regan worked from the very beginning, even though they didn’t get along and were thrown together due to the book convention.

Regan is the type of woman I strive to be and stick to my beliefs no matter how difficult it may be and it was very difficult for her to do it.

Regan and Pavlo are quite the match. They have a history and can’t stand each other. When they have to spend time together due to being paired by their publicist on a book tour the lines between love and hate start to blur. Things are going as expected until Regan starts to get threats. As much as he would like to let her deal with this situation on her own he can’t turn his back on her, especially when there is a child involved and he may be starting to catch feelings. Being in the field of protecting also plays a huge part in Pavlo throwing himself in between Reagan and any harm that is coming her way. The suspense will make you keep turning those pages to find out what happens next. The slow burning romance will make you wonder why they weren’t a couple to begin with since the underlying attraction was clearly there. I’m not sure how many books are in this series, I’m banking on five at least since in book one it mentions Cade and four of SEAL brothers, but the next one can’t get here soon enough.

Unexpected by Laylah Abrams – Review by Robin Rankin

UnexpectedUnexpected by Laylah Abrams
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Unexpected

The title of this book couldn’t have been more perfect and I absolutely adored both Claire and Nick instantly.

Claire is nothing like the friends she’s with when we first meet her and it’s obvious to anyone who was paying attention to her and Nick was paying attention. Claire wants for nothing. Her Dad has money, she is a successful model trying to find her way.

Nick is a grad student getting a masters in art and struggling to make ends meet. Works as a waiter on top of his class load and never knew how much of a difference his job would make in his life.

Claire was a great woman but she was also quite frustrating and closed minded with her beliefs on love not matter how understandable they were.

This was a great introduction to Ms. Abrams and her writing. The storyline kept me engaged in the book and was a little sad when it was over. I look forward to see what she releases next.

Carrie’s Flight (Grandma’s Closet) by Lois Wickstrom. This has quickly become my favorite children’s author and my 5 year old nephew agrees. This book is a lovely description of being so close to a grandparent and trying to keep that relationship close. This books teaches that you can keep memories alive by things that make you think of that person. When Carrie’s grandma moves across town she is very lonely without her. Carrie and her grandma used to watch the starlings together so when she sees some she calls her grandma and then she finds some wings in a box that was left by her grandmother. Can she figure out how to fly to her grandmothers? This book teaches you about lots of different birds and the bond between a child and grandparent. All of this authors books have a life lesson in them and the pictures are always amazing as well. Another 5 star read!

This was definitely an interesting read. Having grown up in an indigenous community on a reservation, I grew up hearing all about Coyote and his tricks. This was an interesting and enjoyable take on that character. Andrea wasn’t a spiritual person while alive and it seems to have carried over into the afterlife. However, through the stories she tells to Coyote she was actually a fairly spiritual person as she preserves the life of a spider (if we’re being honest a good chunk of us would either squish it or run and stay up half the night wondering whether it was in bed with us, haha) and she has a great appreciation for, or is at least is in tune with, nature. Even though it was a short book it was enjoyable to read these mini stories and learn more about what the main character was like while alive. If you want a different take on Coyote, outside of being the trickster, I suggest giving this book a try.

Tom Grant has retired but when Operation “SweetPea” shows up at James’ door, Tom is asked to help. Two young girls, Annika and Melody are asking for help and Tom can’t resist. Samantha always seems to bring out the human side of Tom and makes him seem like a real person and not some machine. I love all the characters and the setting is written so well I felt like I was there. This is a buckle up and hold on to the edge of your seat read and you won’t want to put it down. I loved every word. Full of danger, adventure and the ugly side of human trafficking, this book will rip your heart out!

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This was a thrilling 5 star read. I really liked these two and their story. They love to hate each other until love brings them together. This was a slow burn but it really pulled me in. We get so many twists and turns. We get danger, drama, LOL moments and so much more. I was on the edge of my seat waiting to see what was coming next. I love protective alpha male characters and Pavlo definitely was that. All of the characters added a great element to the story. The story was in dual POV which I love so we can see what they are both thinking. The author did a great job with her writing and I can’t wait to read her next book. 1-click and get started today.

This was a great book to read with my family! It has wonderful affirmations that warm my heart, and the illustrations are brilliant. Diversity and representation are incredibly important, and I believe starting these positive messages as early as possible is game-changing. I will definitely be looking for more books by this author. I highly recommend sharing this with anyone in your life, especially younger kiddos!
