What a wonderful addition to the series!! Maddie and David’s story flows so well with the continuation of all the others. Having read the previous books in the series there were some redundant parts but necessary for someone who started with this book. I’m not sure I like the ending because it just, well, ends. There’s no summation or even a fin. Overall great book!

Who doesn’t love a good detective book? I’m sure many of us read Nancy Drew growing up! I love Detective Dylan books, and this one is no exception. The author provides a story that is entertaining, fun, and mysterious. In the case of the missing mail, Dylan, his sister, and a lovely dog set out on their next mystery. Of course no story is complete without a bit of ruckus to follow. I remember growing up and reading chapter books for this first time, and this book is the epitome of that core memory for me. You just can’t go wrong with a good detective book as a solid starter series!

I had an exceptionally close relationship with my grandma, and I was lucky enough not to lose her until I was old enough to understand death and what happened. However, if it had occurred when I was younger, my younger self would have loved this story and telling of how a grandma’s love is endless and a bond that can never be broken, even by death. This story book truly lays the foundation for children with the story telling and art as well as metaphors with death, birds, and flight. This was a lovely read and highly recommend it for any children going through loss.
This is the 4th book in the series and it can be read as a stand alone but I would recommend reading the others first. It is so you can appreciate the authors writing and the way the characters evolve. However, that said, you won’t be disappointed if you don’t read the others in the series because this book is really well written. This book has it all from the chemistry between the characters to laugh out loud moments. The words that are put onto the pages make this story come alive. The relatable moments really connect you to the characters and keep you rooted in the book. It was a fast read for me because I wanted to see what was going to happen next with these characters. The danger that is presented and the thrill that goes along with the danger, makes this book more than just a romance book. It gives you humor, suspense, love, laughter, mystery, intrigue, and of course off the charts chemistry. Reviewed by: @bbohls

Often times with series past 3 books, I often loose interest, that is NOT the case with Grave Digger Academy. C.A.King know what they are doing when writing a series! Although if you just picked this up without reading the previous 3, you could read it as a standalone, I would suggest you read all 3 previous books in order, you will not be disappointed. I think the reason I am not getting bored is C.A.King has perfected the art of giving us a taste and filling us, but not over filling us, leaving room for more. I am looking forward to book 5, no desire to take a break from the series!

I absolutely love this book series, if I could give it more stars on the rating scale I would. The Magic Man is the third book in The Olympic Peninsula series, where we get to read the story of Joe’s older brother, David, and find out about what happened to cause him to return from his time working as a doctor in Africa. Not only do we get to follow along with David, but we also get to know Maddie’s story. The sparks were flying between David, Kilo, and Maddie, at the end of the last book in this series, it’s time to find out which guy she chooses to be with. Also, what is up with Sylvia, David’s fiancé from Africa, he claims he will not be marrying but has to deal with issues that are weighing heavily on him. I love that this series takes place in the Pacific Northwest, a place I know very well. Cat Treadgold has done an amazing job portraying the beauty of Port Townsend, and the feeling of unity that is so well-known in its small community. It’s great that we get to continue with the story of the main characters from the first 2 books in this series. This group has grown together, but sometimes being together all the time, can lead to feelings of being too close. Will each of the couples be able to work through their marital issues, or will we see some relationships that have been building take a turn for the worse? You will not want to put this book down once you start reading it, the best part, is you do not have to read them in the order that they were written, I prefer to do it this way, but each book can stand on its own just as well. I absolutely enjoyed the first book in the series and this follow-up definitely did not disappoint at all. The author continues to write an action-packed, fast paced story with plenty of twists and turns. I absolutely couldn’t put it down until I had read the last page! I am always a sucker for that slow burn enemies to lovers relationship and this book definitely hit it out of the park. The author did a great job of creating well rounded characters that you really love and care about. Regan and Pavlo are fabulous together and seeing their relationship with each other grow and change, during all of the suspense and danger. This is a wonderful series that can be read in the series or as a standalone. I definitely can’t wait to see what happens in the next book!
I like this series. Shadowed Agenda was a wonderful second book in the series. A suspenseful romance thriller. Keeping the reader on their toes trying to figure out what’s going to happen next. The author brought together two characters that dislike one another, did they really or was it for show? Regan and Pavlo are a pair. Matched together to do a book tour by their publicist they couldn’t be any different. Personalities as well as what they write about. The idea was because they both sold rights to their books for entertainment purposes. What Regan doesn’t know is that writing is Pavlo’s side job. His real job is to serve and protect anyone who contacts the Shadow Defense Security team. A team made up of all ex-military personnel, especially Seals. Regan quickly learns who Pavlo truly is when threats start to be made on her life. He instantly goes into protection mode. However what happens when lines blur and he wants more from this woman than to protect her. But that can’t be right, they drive each other crazy. She’s frustrating and stubborn. He’s egotistical and a player. Will she give in to what they are both feeling? The author takes us on a while ride, with a budding relationship thrown in. A book that keeps you wanting more. A book with an ending twist one didn’t see coming. A book you should look into reading right now.
This was a great 5 star read. I was pulled in right from the beginning. Ava is taken by Kingston due to her brother’s debts. Ava is a strong character that definitely called to Kingstons dark desires. Ava is drawn to his dark and dangerous side. And boy do we get some hot and steamy moments.
Overall I really enjoyed this book.We get betrayal, danger, very dark, secrets and so much more. We get dual POV which I love so we can see what both of them are thinking. The author does a great job with her writing and I didn’t want to put it down until I was done. We do end on a cliffhanger since there is a part two and I can’t wait to get my hands on the next book. My son and I read a lot of books by this author, and we usually love them. Carrie’s flight was not a favorite of his. He hadn’t heard of a lot of the birds mentioned, and didn’t know how to read their names. I think the story was a little too much of a mix of reality and imagination, and the lines were too blurred for his practical thinking 7 year old mind. I enjoyed the mixed fonts, to help bring focus to certain words along the story. I like that the Grandma and Carrie stayed connected with video chat, and could still have their special time together, when they were across town from each other. It was a cute story, with good illustrations, just not one of our favorites.
This book grabbed me from the beginning. This is a true dark mafia story. Please heed the trigger warnings if you feel you need to. I was completely drawn into this book with its drama, suspense, angst, chemistry, murder, great characters and more. King and Ava have definite chemistry but she hates him and he’s obsessed with her and he keeps going back and forth about what he wants to do with her. Both Ava and King have had a rough time in their lives and it has affected how they are as adults. This author has a way with words that make understand the feelings the characters are going through. This book leaves you on a bit of a cliffhanger. I can’t wait to read book two. I recommend this book.

Lost and Found is the 9th book in the Logan McKenna series, but it can be read as a stand alone. Logan always finds herself in the middle of mysterious criminal situations. She really should be an investigator, but she is a musician, teacher and tutor, as well as a business owner of a musical school. Her husband Ben, and her friend Sam overlap into most of the stories. They are good supporting characters, but there is enough detail in this story so you don’t feel like you are lacking. Logan’s friends are fishermen, and its their busy season. This year is a little rougher, with several deaths, missing persons, and suspected murders. Logan believes the wrong man was arrested for murder and spends her free time investigating and trying to clear his name. This was a good big, keeping me engaged ’til the very end.

Oil and Water. Suspense, tension, enemies to lovers. Check. This is the second book in the Shadow Defense Security series. Yes, they technically could be read as standalones, but I felt having read the first book it helped fill in some of the background details. Personally, after first meeting Pavlo in book one was very excited to learn more about him and his story. Dual perspectives of Pavlo and Regan. Pavlo is a suspense thriller writer with a secret, he is one of five partners of the Shadow Defense Security company. He’s the perfect undercover agent and more times than can count it came in handy for a mission. Only this time the mission is in his real life not one he can just be the author looking for research on a new book. Regan is a soft romance writer that has overcome a disastrous marriage and found her own both for her and her daughter, Emmeline, who has a congenital heart defect. She has become very independent and doesn’t need help from anyone but learns the hard way, sometimes the strongest thing we can do is ask for help. One encounter month earlier left an unpleasant impression in each other’s mind of the other. Now a five-day book tour forces them together and it might be the best thing to ever happen to them. Their publicist Isla, once seen as Regan’s friend and trusted by both Regan and Pavlo, is acting desperate about a private book signing and not acting herself. New friends’ allies turn into friends and enemies turn into so much more. Why has Isla changed so suddenly? Does Regan’s ex have a deeper role? Can Pavlo succeed in keeping Regan safe when everyone is after her? A deeper dive into Pavlo was beyond anything I could have imagined. He’s very different from Cade in book one and yet both couples are similar in their desires to protect those around them. I have said it before and will say it again. I love enemies to lovers and love knowing a book has a HEA from the beginning because the hope lives inside our hearts as we discover the overwhelming twists and turns, they survive to reach that happy ending. I cannot wait to see what partner we will read about next, Javier? Drake? Or Seb? Only time will tell but, in the meantime, I will be going back and reading Gray Code Liaison, the prequel to Cade’s story.
Anytime a mercenary reveals he is a prince, the story is going to get interesting. I’m a new reader to this author but I was hooked immediately with this book. The cover art is great and the synopsis is intriguing. So I dove into the story of Leo who we learn never knew his parents. He travels to the lands of his royal bloodline to find a safe place for him and his siblings to live without the constant fear of being killed or exploited due to his true identity.
Leo is an interesting character and admittedly it took me a bit to warm up to him. By the end of the book, I think he may be one of the best characters yet.
When he’s initially faced with the idea of taking his rightful place on the throne, he immediately rejects the idea. Then he and his family try to learn everything they can about royal family, their ways. Most importantly, they need to learn who they can trust, who they should watch and how they can keep themselves safe.
I enjoyed the pace of the storyline and the complexity of the characters. I think YS fantasy fiction fans will be entertained.

Hope for a New World is the first book in the Hope Series by Renee W Peek. This is my first book by her, and I was not sure what to expect.
There were a lot of characters through out the book, but Ms Peek did a wonderful job developing them all. They each brought valuable information with each of their POV.
This is more Sci-fi than most books I’ve read, but it was well written. Def recommend and can’t wait to read more by Ms. Peek.

Dorothy is a widow who believes that she will never need anyone again. This story is one of hardship, faith, and healing. It is an interesting time in history when those going West walk for months to get there. There were many sweet moments along their journey. I enjoyed the characters, their service to others, and their reliance on the power of prayer.

The cover is what drew me at first. I’m happy to say that the story quickly grabbed my attention. The twists and turns, the mystery..loved it all. First book by this author and I realized I didn’t read the first of this series, so I’ll be going back to read that! I felt Joey’s character and I loved the way the author made it so easy to feel that with words. Incredible.
The Cold Kid Case (Sparky of Bunker Hill Mystery Series) by Rosalind Barden. This is such a good cozy historical, mystery. I loved 11 year old orphan, Sparky, who is in the Bunker Hill, Los Angeles area in the 1930s. Sparky is a smart mouthed, spunky, know it all that is now accused of murdering another young kid in the area. Since she is a amateur private investigator she knows she’s got to investigate this because if not she will end up in jail. Sparky meets lots of different people in her investigation and sees lots of things in the area. She is very old for her age. I felt bad for her being accused of something she didn’t do and I was rooting for her. Will she be able to help the cops find the real killer before its too late or will she end up going to jail. Read this fun mystery to find out!

Encounters With Old Coyote by Laura Koerber. This is a wonderful collection of 13 short stories or episodes with the same main character. She’s a 70 year old professor named Andrea or actually Andrea’s ghost. Andrea decides she wants to die in the Nevada desert under the starts. That is the story that begins it all. She also sees a spirit called Coyote and he wants to hear stories of Andrea’s life. The other stories are those…one being a camping trip to Arkansas (which was one of my favs, because I live in Arkansas), stealing a dog and stories of getting drunk on beauty. Andrea keeps asking Coyote about the afterlife and he keeps avoiding it at all costs. Such a different book that I was not expecting. In the final story we meet other spirits and they set the closing of the book. I was very surprised that I enjoyed this book as much as I did! Do yourself a favor and read this interesting and thought provoking book!

Once they get back to earth things amplify and Claudia finds herself traded to the admiral to stay with the birds to be sure they complete their “duties”. Claudia learns much about the species and continues to be shocked by them the more she learns, but the disturbing truth within the admirals plan leaves Claudia scrambling to find a way to help her Avian friends. I was nervous to read and unpack this story due to past experiences of my own.. however, I found the journey beautifully healing. Tina is a complex soul just trying to survive the world that broke her. The experiences are raw and emotional, and all too real. The author did not hold back and while some may find that triggering, I appreciate it. Tina’s healing journey was emotional and heart wrenching, but everything I needed to experience with her. There were a lot of loose ends in the story, but I know that leaves rooms for other characters to develop and the story to continue which I am SO here for!

Porter and Midge: Paw and Playtime is a fun, educational and colorfully engaging story. Lora and CJ take their dogs, Porter and Midge around to learn all about new activities that can the dogs be happy and healthy. Learning as we go from food and treats to sensory and sniffing. Lora and CJ learn so much to help Porter and Midge gain confidence in teaching them daily and taking it slow each day.
This story can be enjoyed from young to young at heart. I even learned some new activities I can work with my dog, Boe. This is a great story and I love the educational value and learning lessons.

This is book 2 in the series but can be read as a standalone. While I loved book 1 an wanted to love this one, I just couldnt get into it. Pavlo and Reagan have alot going on in this book so pay close attention but hopefully you will enjoy it more than I did.

This book was fantastic. The character development was great and and the author really brought everything to life. I was blown away by the amount of detail and humanity that she breathed into this book. I absolutely loved every page of it! I highly recommend this book.

Carrie’s Flight by Lois Wickstrom- 5 out of 5 stars
I love how this author’s books always have such beautiful illustrations. Each book also has their own meaning but in a way that makes hard life events or choices more understandable to children. I appreciate that this author goes out of their way to help teach lessons to children in such a unique way. I highly recommend this book.
