Doombringer is a dark LGBTQ fantasy story that was intriguing and I really enjoyed the story. Magic, crystals, secrets, war and fate brought this story together of Oden and what is to come. Knowing a war is coming with the Mages of Red Hunger upon the village of Shard Moure, Oden will do anything to protect his daughter, especially after losing his wife. The village is scared….but destiny steps in…..but will it be enough for everyone in Shard Moure to survive…
Will Oden be able to protect his daughter….
Definitely read and find out. This is a very well written fantasy I am looking to more future stories from this author.
A Christmas Amish Courtship is the third book in the Amish Courtship series by Jennifer Spredemann. This is the first book that I have read by Ms. Spredemann, so I really didn’t know what to expect from one of her stories. But I do love a great Christmas story, and this looked like it would bring something a little different to the table, so I took a chance and jumped in. What I discovered is a really sweet Christmas romance woven with faith, emotion, heartwarming touches, forgiveness, family, community, God’s plan, and finding love unexpectedly. Anne and Andy have both been spurned by love. But can some anonymous love letter’s help bring these two the love they have been searching for? What happens? This makes for a charming read to find out… If you love faith-filled romance, with a sweet connection, Christmas settings, emotion, and heartwarming developments- then this is definitely the book for you. Happy Reading…

I really loveeeee this! Omg I got the digital copy, but you better believe I will be buying a hard copy. Especially because at the end of the book there are multiple pages that the author was fantastic enough to put in so you could write your own affirmations. I have read this a couple time already with my little one and it still grabs the attention and enthusiasm just like the first time 🥰🤣 I make it fun so it will help my little one remember. I look forward to enjoying more of this Author’s work.

Slay It With a Diamond is part of the Diamond District Mystery series by Rob Bates. This was my first introduction to this author but it did seem that the stories are interconnected. It was fine as a stand-alone though. This story follows Mimi as she and her father buy a supposedly cursed black diamond. Bad news follows the diamond causing Mimi to investigate the murder of a once-close, now estranged friend. As threats continue to mount, it puts pressure on Mimi and all her close relationships. The Book was a lovely who-done-it with some fun twists.

I am invested in this series. You don’t come this far and give up right!? With that being said I do enjoy these books but at times the series feels a little forced. I do enjoy most of the books having the same characters so you receive updates on prior focuses! Overall good read WITH AN ENDING YOU DID NOT SEE COMING! The ending really redeemed the parts of the book that had me wishing I could just end my relationship with a series I am so invested in.

This is an awesome duet. Two books in one is the best of both worlds. These books have hot bodyguards, action, romance, danger, feisty and strong woman characters, and so much more. These stories will keep you glued to the pages wanting to know what happens next and just when you think you know what’s going to happen there are unexpected twists and turns that throw you for a loop. I have enjoyed every book I have read by this author and these ones are no different. This author has a way of engaging the reader and making me invested in the outcome of the characters. There are ups and downs, times when I’m on the edge of my seat and character growth. These books have everything I want and need out of a good story. This is a must read if you want to find out more about Sasha and Jay and Merenah and Matt. I highly recommend this read.

This author was a new to me but I’m always looking to broaden my book horizons and expand my to be read list so I was excited to pick up Whispered Surrender. Via Mari is such a well reviewed author that I felt confident that I would enjoy reading one of her books and I’m glad I took that chance. Whispered Surrender is actually two books and not just one which was nice. We get to read about two possessive, alpha male, mafia bodyguards, and the woman they fall in love with. Jay and Sasha, Matt and Mirenah are the dynamic couples in these two novels that were full of drama, suspense, intrigue, and fast paced with a dash of spicyness. Sasha and Mirenah are actually twin sisters which was really unexpected but a neat twist. I’m looking forward to picking up more books by this author.

Be True with Me: A small town steamy, second chance, interracial romance (Be with Me Series, Book Three)
Another trip to Green Springs to catch up with our previous couples and to get to know a new one.
Lauren is an absolute angel, after a less than ideal childhood she has become to person to help kids and families going through a rough time. Her work as a case worker causes her to see the bad, while trying to protect her clients.
Jake is another angel, but he has a badge. He too sees the darker side if things. He runs into the one who got away on the scene, he decides then to help Lauren and the kids who are now in her care.
Being a social worker is really a thankless job, she sees these families dealing with some difficult times and full of emotions. I have dealt with case workers in my youth, they definitely left a lasting impression on me.
I adored this book, Lauren, Jake and those precious babies. I hope we get to reunite with them and the other good people of Green Springs soon.

Wayward Via Mari has a talent for crafting hot and steamy chemistry between characters with strong storylines. I used to have a preconceived notion that if a book was sexy it couldn’t have substance too, Via Mari shatters that misconception with each book I read. I have to say I loved Wayward and it may have been my favorite Via Mari book thus far. I look forward to seeing what more is to come.
Undercover How I could go from never reading a particular Author to becoming hooked on multiple series at once is beyond me, but Via Mari has me completely hooked. With likable characters and intense passion, each book I read by this author impresses me through and through. I had a preconceived notion that steamy romances meant the storyline wouldn’t have depth or substance. Via Mari has shown me this couldn’t be further from the truth. Undercover has twists and turns that kept me interested from start to finish. Looking forward to reading more from Via Mari, as usual.

Whispered Surrender by Via Mari is two books that will grab you and not let you go. Add in amazing and HOT bodyguards and the girls that they WANT and NEED to protect! I highly recommend this read and YOU will NOT be disappointed!!
Jay and Sasha- Wayward Sasha is a ballerina who is strong willed, graceful, and guarded. Jay wants and needs to protect her when she falls on the wrong side of the Mafia. Jay and his team step in to protect her. This story is filled with love, lust, and mystery. From the beginning to the end, the story held me and wished the read was longer because I truly wanted to disappear into the world of Sasha and Jay!
Matt and Marenah- Undercover
Matt and Marenah meet while he undercover, and is drawn to her innocent blue eyes. But she is family to the Russian crime family. Secrets are found out but, in the end, Matt wants Marenah to be his, and nothing will stop him. He wants her to be his, he never felt this way before, within his heart and his body.

This book is such a great way to get into the holiday spirit if you aren’t already or to embrace the holiday spirit more than you already are. This is the collaboration of 11 short stories all centered on the holiday spirit. I wasn’t quite sure what to think when I started reading because of the different authors. Each author has their own writing style and even though this book is composed of short stories, I just didn’t know if it would flow like it a normal book. I was incredibly impressed. The book flowed from story to story but it also had the feel of the same author writing each story. It was a really quick read because of the short stories. I felt like I was on an adventure and making new friends with each story. I highly recommend this book if you are looking to just get lost in a story but maybe not have the time to commit to a full book. These short stories allow for you to leave and come back. I however, couldn’t put it down and kept reading till it was on the last page.
I love everything about this book! The illustrations are absolutely beautiful, and the affirmations are short for kids to be able to remember if they aren’t looking at it. My 8- and 11-year-old had a blast saying/singing these to each other and made it a fun game as well. Little ones already have so much going on with their emotions and finding themselves that affirmations can help build their self-esteem and mindfulness. I enjoyed these even as an adult! I highly recommend picking this up and sharing it with the younger (and not so young) people in your life.

I wasn’t sure what to expect as this was my first book by this author, but I was pleasantly surprised to find a beautiful blend of sci-fi and fantasy. Something I very much appreciated was the names and descriptions of the characters at the beginning of the book. Books play like movies in my head so to have the cast set out from the start earned many brownie points from this reader! The characters are all very relatable and had me very invested quite quickly. The author goes into great detail about the world and the scenes which truly pulls you into the experience fully. I can’t think of anything I would change in this book and I can’t wait for the next in the series! I highly recommend picking this up if you love sci-fi and/or fantasy because this checks both boxes!

Whispered Surrender (Sinful Duets Book 1) by Via Mari. I love anything by this author and anything Mafia so this was a book made in Heaven. I loved every second of it. The first story is Wayward about Sasha and Jay. I thought Sasha was a snot because she is a beautiful ballerina but when you really get to know her she’s not. Jay fell for her the minute he saw her but she only had eyes for her boss. How will Jay every get her to see him for the decent guy he is? Sasha is wrapped up in herself and Jay is doing security for the Mafia. Will the good guy win in this romance? The second story was Undercover and its the story of Matt and Marenah. Marenah is Sasha’s twin sister and is a lot nicer than Sasha. Many people are after Marenah to kill her. Matt and Marenah meet when the Chicago mafia kidnap them and meet back up in Russia. Marenah has a huge secret and she will do anything to keep it. Matt finally figures out who Marenah is and their chemistry is off the charts. He tries to dig as deep as he can to get to know her to find out her secret. Will he ever discover the truth and if he does will he feel about her the same way. These stories will keep you flipping pages until the very end. Amazing book!

Quick Affirmations for Children (Quick Affirmations Series) by Kim Ann & Yobe Qiu. This is such a awesome book for children aged 3-6. Life is so hard anymore especially for kids who have had to deal with this crazy world we live in. This is a book with affirmations starting with the ABC’s. Its easy for kids to understand and it lifts them up. My 5 year old nephew lived thru COVID and started school shortly after so he has a lot of anxiety. This book has helped him immensely. The pictures are vibrant and so cool, he loves it so much. It also promotes other learning tools such as vocabulary. The discussions at the end of each day is amazing. I loved this book so much I bought the Affirmations for Women! Such a great book for your child’s library and would make a great gift.

I loved this entire series of the elites. Each book was better than the last. Most of the same characters are seen in many of the books so it’s good to get updates. Shane and Winter have such a past. They knew eachother as kids. Both are completely different people now. Is there a chance they can work out their issues from their childhood? There’s a lot of action and suspense in this book. Who was there the day Winter and her sister were pushed into the water? Was it Winter’s mom? Was it a friend? Wow just wow. Never saw that ending coming. What a great ending to an amazing series. I hope this author continues writing amazing books like this series.

Be True with Me (Be with Me Series) by CA Miconi. This is such a good small town, second chance, holiday, interracial romance. Its the story of Lauren who was so hurt and embarrassed by her college boyfriend that she decided to run and change her identity so that no one could find her. Lauren was a foster care child so she reminded me of a scared rabbit. She had trust issues, self confidence issues and especially love issues. Jack never meant to hurt Lauren but when someone borrowed his phone and shared some pictures for his eyes only things were over with him and Lauren. He looked for her and tried to fix it but she was long gone. After 1o long years they meet up again to help some deserving kids have a Christmas like no other and they have to work together. Genie and her great-great aunt Adriana, who happens to be a ghost, are travelling to Italy. While there, they find themselves in the middle of a mystery that they would love to solve. There is an auction house that is holding onto some of Adriana’s belongings and they are about to auction them off to the highest bidder. Genie plans to purchase as many items as possible, as those items help Adriana to maintain her connection to the present world. When a fire takes place and the location is deemed a total loss, not everything is adding up. It’s up to Genie and Adriana to solve this mystery.
This was a fun read! I love Adriana, she’s a hoot with all her antics! She talks to animals too, and they make great witnesses! While this is the second book in a series, this could be read as a standalone.

Its the continuing story of Makayla who has returned to school for a third semester. The only problem is none of her friends or professors have shown up? Where are they and what could have happened to them. Makayla is now tasked in finding them. Makayla finds a few new friends while her other friends are missing and they help her look for everyone. A Christmas Amish Courtship (Amish Courtship Series) by Jennifer Spredemann. I have loved this series and I really enjoyed this book. Its the perfect book to get you in the Christmas spirit. Its a clean Amish romance which I enjoyed as well. Its the story of Anne Eichner whose favorite time of the year is Christmas but she sure wishes she had someone to share it with. She loves everything about Christmas, the baking, the gifts, the snow but it just would be better if she had a special someone. When she receives a letter from a secret admirer she is smitten. Andy Stoltzfus was engaged to Anne’s younger sister and when she dropped him like a hot potato he was hurt but realized he really was in love with Anne. She is strong, independent and just a very sweet woman who would be loyal to Andy and love him for all the right reasons. Andrea found out she was dying of cancer and decided to die on her own terms so off she went into the Nevada desert and under the stars. Being an Atheist she expects nothing to happen after death, just gone forever, so when she wakes up as a ghost, Andrea is shocked.
After a bit, a wandering spirit with the face of a coyote and antlers stopped in front of her and asked if he can use her fire to make himself a coffee. From there starts a weird kinship between the two. Andrea starts to question everything, most in the spiritual aspect. While Coyote seems to be there to make her transition easier, letting her tell him all about her life. Stories from her childhood all the way into her seventies.
I tend to not like the slice of life genre but I really enjoy this author’s writing style. They always implement things from a supernatural element which interests me. I think the author does a really good job in describing their world and their characters.

What better way to get ready for the Holiday season than to have this limited-edition anthology with 11 fantastic short stories by best-selling authors and a few lesser known all in one place. No need to think about which books to buy because it is all there just waiting to be consumed like a fine apple cider or wine.

‘Twas the Fight Before Christmas by Pauline Baird Jones. This heart-warming tale sees Doc quaking in her boots at the thought of family, ugly sweaters and Christmas, together, near her, she doesn’t do it. But then Santa has an army…………
The Winter Queen by Cassandra Chandler. This lovely romance tale gives you all the feels. The Winter Queen despite her name is not what she appears. Can one human man and a Fae woman find their way together?

Sunshine’s War by Jill Wallace. It’s not every day you find a man in your vegie patch. Two people from opposite sides of a war are thrown together in the mist of war. Will they survive the danger all around them or will they become casualties of war………. This heartfelt tale will pull on the ol’ heartstrings.
Retired, but not Forgotten by Natalie Palma. A fun tale. Out of luck. Out of work and one missing cheery Christmas spirit. Follow along with Madison as she tries her hardest to work with one far too cheery PI whilst trying to solve the mystery of a missing coworker.
Unwrapping the True Spirit by Electra Gajdos. Winter Moon Holiday is all but forgotten. They need to find the meaning of the holiday and reunite as a family, or all will be lost. Magic and mayhem come about in this tale.
I enjoyed each and every story and know that you will too.
So excited to get to continue to read this exciting and engaging series! Book 3 follows Makayla’s return to school, where there are all sorts of strange things happening and people are missing. I love that Makayla isn’t afraid to start digging into the secrets to figure out what is going on. The author continues to keep the audience engaged with the characters and really makes you feel connected to them. I definitely couldn’t put the book down until I got to the final page, I definitely was kept enthralled with the tale and I can’t wait to check out book 4 to see what will continue to happen!

King – Review by Amanda Haller-Doris
Whispered Surrender is the first book in the Sinful Duets books by Via Mari is another fantastic read from this talented author. Whispered Surrender is the collection of previous books Wayward and Undercover.
I see Via’s name and jump straight in. I don’t even read the cover because I always know I am in good hands when it comes to her books. It is a great start to another of her fabulous series and has many of my old favourites from her other series. Hot alpha men looking out for their own with the backing of their employers who trust them like family. And the romance is all hot tamale and sizzling to the point of boiling. Via has once again woven her magic and puts you through hoops where the drama and secrets, fear and pain, love and lies is palpable and we travel to exciting place. There is conflict with some of the most powerful and dangerous men in the world including several mafia families.
There are two stories to one book and the first is Jay and Sasha’s story:
Jay met a siren, but she only has eyes for his boss. The beautiful ballerina takes his breath away but how does he get her to see she is made for him and him alone but when a secret is brought to light, he may just have to walk away with his heart in tatters.
The second book is Matt and Marenah’s story:
It is another exciting and titillating story in this series which is a spin off from the original Prestian series and another spin of being the Torzial Affair. Each of these series are fantastic and now we get to see the wonderful alpha hotties who look after and manage the security of the billionaires get their own stories. All the characters intertwine within each of the series so now we are getting to know so much more about them and get reacquainted with them much more intimately. As always Via leads a mighty dance keeping it all together without compromising on the great story. The action and feelings, the secrets and danger, love and drama is described so vividly that it is palpable and draws you in. I always lose out on sleep when reading Via’s stories as I have to know how it will all end, and it is so, so easy to get lost in the journey they travel in.
In this book we get to see where Matt came from and what he has been through. And when a mysterious blond comes into his life, he won’t let her go but when he finds out the truth, he may just have to do that.
I suggest you start at the beginning with the Prestian series and work your way through, because as I said they are all intertwined characters, and you will see where it all starts. You will thank me later.

Master of the Abyss is sadly the third and final book and the end to this unique historical thriller Painted Souls series. It is a fast-paced ride and as with the other books in the series I was fully lost in the story. It is a tale that takes place between the past and present around the world but predominantly in 16th century Venice and is rich in history.
Eternal purgatory, an age-old journal, lost and tortured souls, ancient relics, global supremacy are just some of the things Julia and friends encounter in this gripping tale. They are in a race against time and in a deadly game to stop an unhinged and dangerous man who will stop at nothing. Rob cleverly woven intricate threads of magical realism and fantasy where his vivid narrative transports the reader in time and place as you explore the beauty and wonder of Venice and the darkness, secrets and lies beneath. This clever and multilayered plot is compelling and complex with danger lurking in the shadows, suspense that is palpable, tension so thick you can cut it with a knife. There are twists and turns that you don’t know what is going to happen next.
I was so lost in the story in another time and place that my husband kept checking on me because I was so quiet and hadn’t moved for hours.
I can’t wait to see what comes next from Rob.
If you are a lover of historical thrillers, you are going to love this series.

Children of the Wild is an YA historical fantasy tale. Krysta Twalks is a relatively new author and one to be watched. This unique and vividly imaginative tale is original. It is refreshing to read something a little different from the norm.
Mythological creatures, shape shifters, magic, magical abilities and transformations are just some of the things that you will find in this magical tale.
One boy is about to find out who he really is. I mean it’s not everyday that you suddenly sprout feathers and can magically produce sparks. He finds he is surrounded by magical creatures he never knew existed. He finds himself in a world full of wonder and danger.
Elbert must learn to wield his magic along with learning to be who he is and accepting who he is. He must learn to deal with the grief of losing a sister whilst looking after his other siblings. He finds himself in a fight with a friend and being aware of enemies that could threaten it all.
Acceptance, overcoming grief and hope is just some of what he must learn…

A Christmas Amish Courtship is book 3 in the Amish Courtship Series by Jennifer Spredemann. Jennifer is a new author to me so I thought I would give the story a go. I have not read the first two books in the series but didn’t feel like I was missing anything.
It is a heartfelt clean romance tale full of faith and religion and it is set around Christmas time. A magical time for love.
I have only read a couple of Amish stories and quite enjoyed them. Learning of a different way of life was interesting. It is a second chance romance tale full of love and healing.
I did like the characters and found them interesting, and it was hard not to feel for them.
Annie is afraid to get hurt again after a courtship gone wrong. She wants to have what others have but can she open her heart to possible heartbreak again.
Andy knows he is the one for her he just has to get her to see it.
If you love an Amish clean religious romance tale, I am sure you will enjoy Jennifers work.
