Josh Blevins is tired of being hunted by creatures out for revenge. He has decided enough is enough and is done running. Before he goes out with a bang, he decides to write his story. We are then transported back to the beginning of the end for Josh.

After he fails at his career plans, Josh decides to move back home. After living in New York in a small apartment, he thinks it is time for him and his trusty husky, Nimrod, to go back to his country roots. He settles into a life in the small town of Midnight Falls. Everything seems calm and dull but in reality, it’s a town filled with secrets.

Being an outsider, Josh has no one he can trust except for Nimrod and a few other outsiders; Lizzie, Joey and Brad. Things start heating up between Josh and Lizzie when Nimrod gets outside and there is a gunfire sound. They come across a creature they have never seen before and it all goes downhill from there.

I was afraid this would not be my jam as I don’t normally read horror (I scare easily) but the cover intrigued me. I am a fan of werewolves and the monsters resemble them. I found the book to be more like a thriller than horror which was perfectly fine by me. The author did an amazing job bringing the characters to life and keeping you on the edge of your seat in anticipation. I also loved the detail the author went into writing Nimrod. He was so goofy and stubborn. It reminded me of my dog who is part husky. She is also a stubborn goofball.
