Souls Collide (Collide Series #3)Souls Collide by Kristina Beck
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Souls Collide is the third book in the Collide Series by Kristina Beck. I didn’t realise going into this book that it was the third in the series- having said that though, it can be read as a standalone- but there are characters who appear in this book who have obviously had their own book previously- and they are quite intriguing and likeable also, so I have decided to go back and read the first two books and get up to date with this wonderful cast of characters and their stories. This is also my first read by Ms. Beck, and colour me impressed! I love her witty, fun and flirty writing style- she pulled me into the story right from the first page and easily held my attention the whole way through. I am an insta-fan and will absolutely be stalking her ?, I mean following her work closely from now on!
Kent Hayes is a prickly, bitter and angry man. He carries his pain like an anvil around his shoulders, and pushes all, except the few closest to him, away. He hasn’t had a relationship in ages- as he wrote women off a long time ago. But his bad attitude and beastly manner are about to get a battering from a perky, bubbly little ray of sunshine who is able to inject some light back into his grey world. He’d really love to hate her, and really does try to do so, but finds that he just can’t fight her charm. He can’t help but be impressed that she doesn’t take his rubbish, instead she gives it right back. He may just have met his match!
Alexa Kramer has a great life- a successful job she loves, close family and good friends. She may be blonde and beautiful, but she’s far more than just a pretty face. She’s the whole package- smart, confident, independent, loyal, and generous- even if she tends to swear like a sailor. But her world is shaken when she literally collides with an incredibly HOT police officer. She’s immediately attracted, but he is so rude she’s left thinking he’s incredibly obnoxious. But still, there is something behind the prickly facade, and she really wants to be the one who gets close enough to figure it out. She also secretly loves the challenge he represents, as he’s the first man who doesn’t immediately fall at her feet. As they begin to cross paths fairly regularly, the frost between them begins to slowly thaw. But soon there are concerning developments when it appears that she has attracted a stalker. Will Kent’s protective nature kick in and keep her safe?
The story is a fantastic read- it’s sweet, sassy, suspenseful, humorous, dramatic, touching, romantic, emotive, fun, and unpredictable. It is really well written, with wonderful attention to detail and descriptive scene setting. Ms. Beck built the tension and suspense really well, and had my mind reeling with possible scenarios, trying to predict where the storyline was headed.
I can’t wait to go back and read the first two books now- and I look forward to seeing what Ms. Beck does next.

Thank you, Ms. Beck!
