Much Ado About Dying is the second book in this fantasy series by Rowan Day. As with the first book it is full of danger, tension, fear and uncertainty, sorrow and hope, pain and action and adventure. There are many unique and colourful characters to try to keep track of. This one revolves around Róisín and her need to put herself in peril to battle with an ancient god. If she doesn’t then the plagues will kill everyone if the god doesn’t kill her first. Much Ado About Dying is set in the beautiful lands of Ireland which made it easy to imagine having visited there.
Unfortunately it’s not just the formidable god Róisín faces but she is also in the sight of extremists who want to see her and the Unhidden annihilated. The Unhidden are still struggling to learn what they have become and their new abilities and powers and to stay alive.
This is a fast paced tale and once you get to know the vast characters, their complexities and the world Rowan has created it is easy to become invested. There is still a lot of over information which does bog you down at times and stilts the pace but it is still an intriguing story.
I wonder where Rowan takes the story next.
