The Chaos Clock is an Anthology of several short stories by a variety of authors. Some of the authors are new to me while others I’ve read other books by them. Each story is just as unique as the next and they all are based on the same theme of Time. I enjoyed reading each short story . If you like Steampunk/ Fantasy and or Sci-Fi then this book is for you. I highly recommend reading this collection and I look forward to reading more from these authors.

Love Rinkside is Book #10, and the twelfth instalment, in The Playmakers series by G.K. Brady. It is a ‘meet cute’ contemporary romance with humour, fun, antics, capers, costumes, adventure, friendship, family, drama, angst, hockey, banter, emotion, sweet storyline, chemistry, and finding love unexpectedly. Even though this instalment is well into the series (Book #10), it could be read as a standalone if you wanted, without feeling like you are missing anything, as each book in the series focuses on a different couple. But having said that, there are recurring characters, and other details, which span the series, so knowing what happens in the previous instalments would only help to enhance your reading experience here. This is probably my favourite out of the instalments that I have read in the series. It is a fairly short story with a light-hearted, rom-com feel- making for a fun, quick, and easy read. Having read work by this author before I just had to give this book a try. It has a couple of my favorite tropes in it like an age-gap, second-chance romance. Even though The age gap was on the younger side it was still a great read. Anne and Declan’s story was filled with twists and turns that you’d never see coming and with chemistry,alpha-type male mc drama, and spiciness. After reading this nonstop I was thrilled to see Anne and Declan got their HEA. Akinosho’s writing style is crisp and compelling, drawing readers into the amazing world she had built. I can wait to see more from this series and more from this author 🥰
This book brings us back into the world of Shattered Embrace…but with a twist.
Derek has been working his security firm and has decided to take down the mafia boss. To do so, and protect those he loves, he will be immersing himself into the world of Shattered Embrace. He finds himself teaching a class about power dynamics in a dom/sub relationship.
Justine is attending the power dynamics class as part of the research for her dissertation. While she believes that she is not a sub, she finds herself learning more about herself the more time she spends around Derek.
Jordan has played with Derek in the past at the club and is thinking about wanting a more exclusive relationship. When she is part of Derek’s class, she can see the way that he interacts with Justine and and triangular relationship develops.
However, when the mafia boss makes his move, Derek works hard to keep everyone he loves safe while working through which woman his heart really wants. The women want to help him however they can, including one of them willing to put themselves in the line of fire (so to speak) to bring the situation to an end.
This book was different than the other books in the series as there was the club atmosphere, relationships being formed, people opening themselves up and figuring out who they are, romance, and some suspense. New characters are introduced that I am hoping will be a part of future books. Overall, another good story in the series.
Discovering Desire is the third book of the steamy Shattered Embrace series. This book allows you to see the views of Derek, Jordan and Justine with each having their own point of view. Chemistry, Action, intrigue, mafia, and family, what more does a reader need in a great story. Can’t wait to read more stories about the members of Shattered Embrace.

Every nuanced thread is woven into this historical war time tale set around the Seven Years War that is multi layered and intriguing. Peter is taken from as a captive in a darker, harsher life of one man’s depravities, a life of punishment and sexual torment aboard a British warship. Escaping this horror, he is taken in and given a life that is nothing like his past a place to learn and grow. When his past is once again in the forefront he must decide if it is revenge, he desires or a consequence of war. Danny has not only given us a story but a war well-worn history lesson as well. He highlights the actions, the struggles, the oppression, and the challenges of that time and our MC. I am not usually one for War time fiction, but I found The Sins of Men: An American Revolutionary War Drama to be interesting.

4.5 stars This Time Around is a heartwarming time travel RomCom that sees Josie Gardner’s life turned upside down when her ex threatens taking her kids away and on top of that her life as she knows it is falling apart. Suddenly finding herself thrown back in time what choices will she make? I like that Kimberly gives us a more mature woman as the main character as she has life’s lessons behind her. Kimberly got the balance right. This engaging tale had me from the start and I could not put it down. It is full of so many emotions as Josie struggles with what she wants. Reminiscent of movies like Ghosts of Girlfriends Past and 17 Again, This Time Around begs the question if your life was turned upside and you go back in time would you do it differently or do it the same all over again? And isn’t that is the million-dollar question. You may just find the life you were always meant to have but to do so means giving up everything you ever had. This wonderful tale not to be missed out on. It evokes many emotions within as you ruminate about your own past. Is love better the second time around?

This is the second book in the Gemstone Massacre series, and I enjoyed it even better than the first! The series is uniquely original and will captivate ages well outside the target range. It definitely felt like a quicker read than I had anticipated, but I do find that happens often with any really good stories. One of my favorite parts about this book was the inclusion. It’s always refreshing to come across an author who can weave inclusion into a story so naturally. The development of the characters is remarkable and made them feel relatable. The story flows at a quick pace that still feels natural. If you are looking for a captivating fantasy read with mythology tied in, this should be the next book you pick up. It is possible you could read as a standalone, but to get the full experience and guarantee you won’t get lost in the details, it’s best to pick up the first in the series. I highly recommend this book and cannot wait to see what the author has in store for us next!
3.5 – 4 stars Love Rinkside is a fun standalone novella in The Playmakers series. It is a quick and entertaining read. This sports RomCom has much humour and banter and had me laughing out loud and sometimes cringing at their predicaments. This sweet with a dash of spice tale is full of emotions as well. We get to meet up with characters from previous books and what a mess they get themselves into. Drew and Katie find themselves in a most unlikely situation when they escape a fancy dress party and end up on the wrong side of the law. Unfortunately, Drew is not looking for love in fact dating is not even in his wheelhouse but when a certain someone bursts in full colour into his life he finally accepts the inevitable. Want a feel-good story that you can enjoy and escape for a few hours then this is the book for you. Love Rinkside has it all Halloween, Thanksgiving and Hockey. Crazy costumes, rough neighbourhoods, nosy friends and family and you have mayhem and madness at the ready.

This was book two in the series, following Rachel and Miguel. I read the first book as well but I’ve gotta say I loved this one more. The characters are all relatable. Rachel gets dumped by her latest bf, Ian (who was never good for her anyway) and she takes it a little harder than she planned to. She meets Miguel at pier 92 after she is stood up by someone else, and sparks fly immediately. She is a little hesitant about moving on so quickly, especially when Ian reappears and tries to get her back in a totally a-hole way. But she knows deep down that she is happier and better off with Miguel. Miguel is dealing with some past feelings as well that never became anything big, just a crush on someone he couldn’t have. Can they both overcome their pasts and insecurities and make room for each other’s future? Miguel is the perfect book boyfriend (bringing her soup when she was sick even when she tries to push him away). And I liked finding out how all the characters in the books are connected in one way or another. Can’t wait to read the third book with Rose’s story.

This book was different. It is a type of horror story. It was definitely a unique writing style. I did enjoy certain parts of the story. Its not the type of horror book I usually read but I enjoyed the characters, especially puzzleman and finding out what the deal was with him and the did to control the fear of his victims.

This book was a quick read for me. The characters were good but I kept feeling I wanted more. I don’t know if it was the characters but I had a hard time remaining engaged in the plot. I would read others by the author to get an overall base of what left me a little. It could just be this story.

Drew is just floating through his life at the moment, trying to get his business up and running but when his major contract is given to another company not because of the level of skill but that they are lower in price and know someone within the company he becomes depressed and when his sister and his brother-in-law persuades him to go to there Halloween party and he meets another misfit on the balcony, can he handle the attraction or will she put them into the friendzone.
Katie is invited to a Halloween party of her colleague but the theme is mascots so Katie pulls out all the stops and goes in the most embarrassing one but as she is escaping she spots some beers on the balcony but when she runs into a Banana things get interesting. Drew is the brother of her colleague and the chemistry between them is electric but Katie is not sure if she wants to have a relationship, but when he ticks all her boxes can she give this a chance.
This is a brilliant romance story where the characters are believable and you would love to have them in your real life rather than your book world fantasy. The story draws you in and has you rushing to turn the page to find out what happens next.
Katie’s character is full of sass and a great sense of humour which moulds brilliantly with the not too alpha character in Drew which was lovely to read, the chemistry between these two was just amazing and loved reading it. The secondary characters just add to the story and make it really enjoyable. I can’t wait to read more from the wonderful author in the future.

Once again this author has impressed me. In this story Amanda and Elaine take us on a different type of mystery. Not who did it? But why is it? Such a fun unexpected story from a child’s perspective. I love that this story answers questions like Why does my blood look blue through my skin, but red when it comes out? So many other questions will be answered in this fast paced informative story. This author and her characters will be fun to read and learn from. Everytime this author brings out a new story, I know it will be another five star read. I look forward to reading her next story. As I know it will be a must have for my child’s library.
This is the second book in the Gemstone Massacre series. This is an incredible dark fantasy read full of action, adventure, danger, magic, corruption, friendship, gemstones, magical lands and the fight between good and evil. I do highly recommend reading theses books in order as this book follows the first and with a complex storyline and loads of characters you do need to read them in order so you can follow the story without getting lost. This author does an incredible job of weaving a magical tale which keeps the reader gripped till the end. This is also a book where the characters are part of the LGBTQIA+ community. Which was unique and the author does a great job of using this book to educate people about that community as well as being an entertaining, magical journey. Amy is struggling with knowing who to turn to and trust. With the corrupt council hunting magical beings things needs to change. Amy needs the stand up and be a leader for the sake of everyone but is she strong enough to do that?
This book is totally relatable to anyone who has been out of high school for at least five years. Lost touch with one of your best friends? Check. Still hung up on what could have been? Check. Regret how you behaved toward your parents sometimes during your senior year? Check. Your current relationship and your business are both imploding at the same time? Okay, this is where it starts to get interesting. Have a panic attack? Relatable. The panic attack sends you back in time to re-do your senior year? Is time travel real? The main character discovers new friendships as she learns to cherish the relationships she already has.

Historical fiction is a genre I read quite a bit of, and yet I don’t think this era is one I have read much in the region of. I loved the navy angle that the story was initially portrayed from, looking through the perspective of a young boy who is forced into a life he didn’t choose. I thought the author did a great job od developing not only his story but the story overall. The historic detail in the book was fascinating to read about. It really caught my attention and drew me into the events we were reading about. This is a great start to a new series and I am looking forward to discovering more.

Having read the other books in the series, I was looking forward to reading the final installment. When I read the blurb to this book, I wasn’t really sure how it would all work out, given the characters and their histories. But the author knew just how to tie them altogether into an enjoyable story. I thought the story was well written from start to finish. I connected with the characters and became invested in their journey. I really enjoyed getting a glimpse into the other characters from the previous books too. This book is a great addition to the series and one I really enjoyed.

When I started reading this book, I expected a lighthearted and fun story that involved reliving teenage years. I thought it would be an easy read with a great romantic storyline. And while it definitely felt like the book delivered on all that, but also offered a depth and emotion to the story that I wasn’t expecting. It added a whole other layer to the story that made it so much more enjoyable to read. I loved all of the characters in this story. They were so well interwoven and found them all to be so relatable, but in entirely different ways. It was great to see the main character embrace her old teenage life, in a way I bet many of us wish we could go back and do. This is a brilliant book and my favourite from this author so far.

Amy’s Betrayal is Book 2 in the Gemstone Massacre Series. It is a fantasy mythology with danger, drama, action, magic, shifters, paranormal elements, friendship, violence, and good versus evil. This book picks up events and characters that were introduced in the first book, so I highly recommend you read it first. This story continues with the adventure of Amy and Opal. Amy has realized that she and Opal have more in common than she realized. She wants to stop Opal from destroying everything in their realm and decides to fight her. Will she have what it takes to stop her and be able to do so at all costs? The author does a great job of pulling you into the story with vivid scene descriptions and imaginative storytelling. The cast of characters is eclectic, including characters that are LGBTQTIA inclusive. Looking forward to more by this author.

Raccoon Reunion is a cute story about a Racoon learning about helping each other, challenges and utilizing everyone’s unique skills. The illustrations were adorable and the story was so cute. The message was easy to understand and didn’t drag on. I would highly recommend this book to anyone with young children.
Greetings From Asbury Park was a heartfelt, emotional read!
I’m not usually a fan of WWII books, but this one was different. It didn’t take place in Germany. It depicted the brutal German occupation of Rome.
Mariella and Jack are the main characters, although Jack doesn’t appear until much later in the book. A good portion of the book is about Mariella and her family. They had already endured a horrific tragic event in their lives, and as the book opens, they are suffering from brutal treatment from the Germans and possible starvation. Fear rules their lives.
Mariella is forced to give up so much, like her education. However, her tenacity and perseverance is incredible. As the war ends, she meets a handsome American soldier and spends an unforgettable day with him. There is an instant connection between them, but he has to leave. The two become pen pals for years. As the years pass, readers see how the two of them are living separate lives, but that connection is still there. I liked that their love story wasn’t rushed, making the story so much more believable. They get to know one another through their letters to each other.
This was truly an incredible read. Vecchione’s ability to make me feel everything Mariella and her family felt is a testament to her skill as a writer. I’m eagerly anticipating the next book in the series to see where Mariella’s journey takes her next.

I decided to pick this book up because of the college course I took on Mythology. This is my first read from this author but is not my last. I will say that I liked how this was written more so than the actual Epic of Gilgamesh. Only because dang was that hard for me to comprehend. The difference between the two is wonderful and to see it written as more of the male to male romance you assume when reading the original is breathtaking.

Italian American is a poignant exploration of family dynamics, sacrifices, love, and hope set against the backdrop of significant historical events. The novel’s narrative is deeply rooted in the experiences of the Italian immigrants, making it a compelling read for those interested in family sagas and historical fiction.
This is the continuation of Jack and Mariella’s love story, set against the backdrop of significant historical events. The novel opens with Mariella and her adult daughters, a poignant scene that sets the stage for Mariella’s journey to America and her adaptation to her new life. The historical context adds depth to the immigrant experience, making it more relatable to readers.
The couple finally reunites in Italy when Jack returns to bring her to America for her new life. I loved seeing through Mariella’s eyes the first sight of America. It made me stop and appreciate this wonderful country in which I have had the privilege of being born.
As she begins her new life, she experiences some bumps in the road. There is a language barrier as she is still learning English. She also encounters some nasty housewives, and her mother-in-law is nasty to her. However, none of this stops her determination to make a happy life with Jack. As the years move on, she and Jack become parents, and she must return to Italy because her father is ill. Will this trip back home make her second guess her decision to make her life with Jack? Or will it make their love even stronger?
Mariella emerges as an extraordinary woman, a beacon of resilience. She endured the horrors of the German occupation during her childhood, and she bravely left her family behind for a new life in America, a journey not without its trials. Her unwavering determination to carve out her own happiness is truly inspiring. What’s more, this is a story based on a real woman! While the book’s pacing felt a bit hurried towards the end, I was left wanting more. I yearned to see if her relationship with her mother-in-law had evolved, and I was curious about the fate of her sister and brother. Nevertheless, this was a powerful read that further opened my eyes to the atrocities of the Nazi Regime and the profound damage they inflicted.

What an amazing ride !! I was pleasantly surprised! Definitely the best in the series yet! I couldn’t put it down. The story was well written and kept you reading, the characters had amazing character development and kept you rooting for them ! Definitely would recommend to anyone, would also inform them of trigger warnings and adult themes 🙂

This Time Around is the first book I’ve read by Kimberly Packard and I’m really glad I took a chance on reading it. The premise of the book is what drew me in. I mean the biggest ‘what if’ scenario that most people have thought about is going back in time to make better decisions, change things, try different paths, and will she actually be able to get back to her own time. In This Time Around Josie Gardner, a forty seven year old, nearing divorce, and a custody battle gets the chance to do just that. She discovers just how much our past influences our future and she tells the story with such humor, interesting characters. This story actually felt believable, was fast paced, and such a fun read.

I loved this book! And I was more than excited to realize that Finding Love is a spinoff series of one of my favorite series I read. This author knows how to tell a story and bring two characters together. I’ve enjoyed the previous series so much that as I was reading this one it wasn’t clicking right away on why the restaurant name sounded familiar. I was wracking my brain till about 25% of the way through and it all clicked. This author is amazing and you definitely don’t have to read the previous series this book spins off from. But I recommend you should. Rachel was dumped. By a guy she didn’t really see herself with. She was having fun, well so she thought. The break-up was hitting her harder than she imagined. After a quick talk with her twin brother she decided to put herself back out. Yet only to be disappointed again. Or was she? Miguel is struggling. His business is successful but extremely short staffed. Feeling like he’s letting his previous own/friend down, he stumbles across a stood up Rachel who he’s about to give some more bad news to. Deciding to make her a special dish and spend the evening at her table he realizes she’s a wonderful person. Even better when he finds out she’s his neighbor. But there’s some looming issues in the past that they both need to let go of. His are more twisted amongst mutual friends of theirs. What will happen? Does the past come back to haunt them? Or does Rachel and Miguel end up having a whirlwind romance? Com’on you know as well as I do that none of these books are simple. But they keep you turning the page. Giving you hope the right decisions are made. I look forward to more books by this author in the future!

The Fallen Man written and narrated by Cat Treadgold
What a wonderful book to round out the series. This is the fifth book and Edward’s story, but it brought the whole gang back together. This series should be read in order as the book build off the previous books in the series. It flowed well and Cat certainly brings her characters to live in these audio books. I loved the whole series, but this was my personal favorite. I really look forward to what this author will bring us next. Loved how the epilogue brought an update on the couples from previous books!
