Fictional-ish by Natalina Reis – Review by Sarah Oakes

A great read about friendship. Kyle and Livie have been best friends since they were little kids. But when Kyle wants to marry her lifelong enemy, Mia, their friendship is put to the test. When it becomes too much, Livie pushes him away and goes to run a bookstore in Scotland. By the time Kyle realises his mistake, it may be too late. Can he fix his mistake and get his friendship back?
A great read. Well developed plot with twists and turns that I just couldn’t put down. Well developed characters like Livie following her dream despite her feelings or Kyle as a good friend but also struggling to find happiness. Great cast of supporting characters like the fun friend Jenny or the supportive and honest Liam. A great villain in Mia as relatable and cruel.
I loved the visual detail throughout the novel like with the wedding full of life and people with the music and the lilacs full of sound and smells. Or the bookstores sense of a small haven with the homely feel with shelves of books and coffee bar with its soft and colourful furnishings perfectly written. Or the magical sense of the fairy lights by the lake under the moon, making it feel like of another world away from the reality of the situation. I also loved the nature of Scotland with its language and culture and food and people given the respect it deserves and also giving the novel a sense of character and humour. The switch between perspectives worked well to display both sides of events and was easy to follow with names in chapter titles. Overall, a great read and I would give it five stars.

Eight Steps to Alpha (Nerdy by Nature, #1)Eight Steps to Alpha by Taylor Sullivan
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Eight Steps by Taylor Sullivan is Book 1 in the Nerdy by Nature Series, and a friends to lovers romance. These are some of my favorite stories, the friends to lovers never grow old to me, because you get to watch the relationship blossom. These characters were like friends you were sad to leave, when the book was over. This is the first book I have read by this author and I really enjoyed the character development and the story line. I would definitely read more books by this author, and I give this book a solid 4 stars.

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Eight Steps by Taylor Sullivan is not a difficult book to predict. You know how it’s going to end (that’s one reason why I picked it) but that doesn’t ruin the joy of the journey. It’s books like this that make me remember why the romance genre is much needed in my world. I love to sit back and escape my life for a little while and this book helped me accomplish that easily. I was swept away by the easy flow of the writing, the story line that made me smile more times than I ever could have imagined and the characters, Elliot and Fe who actually made me cry a little. Being somewhat of a nerd myself, I could relate to these two and I appreciated that. This book is perfect if you want to recharge for a bit, if you want to change genres for a while or are just looking for something to brighten up your day.

Im a LEGIT sucker for these kind of books!

Give me the nerds and the best friends and I’ll be instantly hooked!

There was nothing about this book I didn’t like and I’m legit dying for more from Miss. Sullivan!
I feel like Elliot is a Clark Kent. The nerd that no one looks at. He works out and is good looking but everyone oversees him. He has in mind the woman he wants to snag and she’ll be out of town for a month so he wants to be different when she gets back so he enlists his BFF and roommate Fe for help. She designs a program to help him out (an 8 step program) but it all goes to hell when one kiss happens and everything is up in the air.

This was the light hearted, funny, nerdy read I needed. This was the perfect weekend – escape – from – life – read everyone needs!

Eight Steps, by Taylor Sullivan, is a friends to lovers romance. This coming of age/contemporary romance is an engaging story featuring two roommates that are also best friends. The unexpected occurs in this story and their dynamic begins to change. Elliot and Fe are magnetic in their friendship and the story flows at a reasonable pace. I found Fe’s character charming and willing to go that extra step for her best friend to turn his life around. Elliot was cute, I found him to be endearing and just wanted to hug him! The characters were fun, the story line was fulfilling and you could feel the chemistry where it needed to be. Overall, this was a solid story that was great to read!

Eight Steps is a novel by Taylor Sullivan. This is my first novel by this author.

Best friends Elliot and Fe have been friends for five years. Elliot is considered a nerd who loves video games.

What happened when Elliot asks Fe to help him get a girl? Will sparks fly?

I really enjoyed this novel. It was a fun and cute story and very refreshing from the other novels in this genre.

I usually read the lead female having the makeover and it was a change for the male lead to be having the makeover.

I loved the progression from friends to realizing there might be something more between them.

For anyone looking for a cute fast read, I recommended this novel.

Eight Steps: A Friend to Lovers Romance
By Taylor Sullivan

I enjoyed this friends to lovers read, I thought it was fun and had great characters. Elliot and Fe are roommates and best friends and Elliot is a nice guy and a bit nerdy. Fe has decided that they are going to make him an alpha male in eight steps, and it’s a lot of fun to read about all the banter these two have. I had to keep reading to find out if these two were ever going to admit their feelings for each other or is Elliot going to get the girl that he wants to notice him? This book was fun and entertaining I recommend this romantic story.

Eight Steps to Alpha is book 1 in the Nerdy by Nature series by Taylor Sullivan and a first for me by this author. Elliot wants to get a girl in his office to notice him so he goes to his best friend Fe for help. Fe takes on the task of changing Elliot from a nice nerdy guy into a hot alpha male. But will the plan backfire on them and spark something between Fe and Elliot?

This was hilarious sweet friends to loves book. I laugh from the beginning to the end of this book; Fe and Elliott were sweet and lovable. I can’t wait to see if there is going to be more books in this series. If you’re looking for a good romantic comedy, you need to pick up this book.

Eight Steps to Alpha (Nerdy by Nature, #1)Eight Steps to Alpha by Taylor Sullivan
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Eight Steps is a deliciously intense love story by Taylor Sullivan. A story that just left me breathless and desperate for more. As far as friends to lovers romances go, this was one of the best I have read. So riveting was these words, I read it in one go. These characters were so endearing,  so charismatic, it was hard to put their story down.

Elliott and Fe were best friends. Dorky Elliott was thrust into Fe’s hands to give him a new look. The almost non existent flame of arousal, passion and realisation was slow moving, the tension was so palpable, it was felt long after the book ended. So intense, every muscle in my body was pulled taut, ready to snap at any moment. If you love slow intensity love stories, then this story is one you must read. NOW. A riveting, emotional tale of exquisite discovery and soul deep feelings of love. 5 stars.

Eight Steps by Taylor Sullivan a five-star read that will help you get your nerd on. This is the first novel in the Nerdy by Nature series and the next needs to be here. This should come with a warning, do not drink while reading as you are likely to spit it out, I laughed so hard I wore my drink. I got my copy after the re-edit and it was great, it showed us how bad editing can ruin a great book after reading some of the other earlier reviews. I knew I wanted to read this as I adored another book by this author, and I am glad I did as it was so much better. Elliot was great, he had a great charm about him and when you get to know him, he will clearly become a fave new book boyfriend.

EIGHT STEPS: A FRIENDS TO LOVERS ROMANCE BY TAYLOR SULLIVAN – REVIEW BY MELISSA AGENA

Eight Steps to Alpha (Nerdy by Nature, #1)Eight Steps to Alpha by Taylor Sullivan
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

A romantic comedy for the win! Eight Steps to Alpha is A Friends to Lovers Romance by Taylor Sullivan. This book was so cute I couldn’t put it down! Fe (the element for iron) is a science teacher’s assistant. Elliot is her roommate of 4 years and best friend of 5 years. There has never been any romantic chemistry between them. That is…until now. Elliot is enamored by a co-worker, Mary and want to get her to notice him. Fe devises a plan so that in 8 simple steps, Mary will be putty at his feet. What Fe didn’t plan is that during this process, Elliot and she would become closer than they ever have. With the push of their family and friends, things shift for these two and what ends up happening is magical. I will be a bit of spoiler and say that this is a happy ever after book. But, it’s the journey that makes this book so great! I loved this story and the way that this author writes is really awesome. The words flowed like they should, which caused me not to be able to put the book down. There were so many funny parts, frustrating parts and a few sexy scenes that were smoking hot. I loved the banter between the two main characters and then the interaction of the secondary characters made me fall in love with the book even more. This is a definite recommendation and I cannot wait to read more books from this author!

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Eight Steps to Alpha was a fun 4 star read.
This is a good friends to lovers romance.

Elli wants a certain someone to notice him, so he asks his best friend Fe to help him. He wants to be just like the men in the books Fe reads, an alpha. They have a month to get him ready, will they be successful? Can he get the girl he wants?

I’m tired of being the nice guy. I want to be that guy. The guy they have fantasies about. Just once. Elli

Fe creates a list of steps for Elli to complete. I had so many LOL moments as these two went through the steps. Something else starts to happen as well, they are starting to feel a connection that is drawing them even closer. Will they realize the connection before it’s too late?

Overall I really enjoyed this book. I really liked both Elli and Fe, the secondary characters were good also. Taylor Sullivan does a great job of pulling you in with her writing. Watching the friendship grow through the story was great, you felt like you were right there with them. I look forward to reading more from Taylor.

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Eight Steps: A friends to lovers romance by Taylor Sullivan was a fun book to read. The easy going Elliot and the not as easy going Fe are best friends and roommates and everything was great until one night and them having too much to drink. I know I have had some nights that ended was too much drinking and too many regrets.

I loved the sweetness of Elliot and how much of a Southern gentleman he is, but what would you expect from a man from Texas. He takes such good care of Fe, my husband is good but not as good as Elliot is with his best friend.

Fe really wants to help him find happiness and is willing to do just about anything to help him find it including help him with someone else.

Very cute story and I look forward to reading more books by this author.

Eight Steps To Alpha by Taylor Sullivan is a fun new adult quirky romance. Elliot is a nerdy guy who is tired of not getting the girl. He teams up with his roommate Fe and they had a plan to make him more alpha and hopefully more appealing to a certain woman. Overall I enjoyed the story and found the characters to be likeable. Eight Steps is a excellent friends to Lovers romance read, that’s captivating and brilliant from the start. It’s fast paced and easy flowing and has you hooked. Taylor Sullivan is a new author for me, and boy has she given me even more reasons to read more of her books and what else is to come to this series.
She has created a brilliant plot line that could really be a real and relatable thing, she has created lovable and relatable characters in Fe & Elliot, to where you would like to see more of their journey and connection after this book ends. I loved reading about their connection, whether as being friends or slowly figuring stuff out, I loved that this book at times was laugh out loud funny, not many books get you laughing like that but this had me doing so on some occasions.

I really enjoyed this book, and was so glad I got the chance to delve into this authors writing. I highly recommend this read and I can’t wait to see what else this author brings.

“Eight Steps” by Taylor Sullivan is a lovely book about two roommates, Elliott and Fe. They have been best friends and roommates for five years and one fateful night will change their friendship forever. I love this story because it felt like Elliott and Fe could be any set of friends that live together, where the relationship could turn into something more. I am a believer in being friends before dating someone and this book really reaffirmed my belief in that. Elliott and Fe know most of the gorey details that, in my opinion, made them more compatible. When you know someone as well as Elliott and Fe know each other, it is hard not to see them for more than friendship eventually. Elliott was a wonderful character to read about. I loved following his journey to discovering who he really wanted to be like and who he wanted to love. So, I give “Eight Steps” by Taylor Sullivan five stars!

This is a contemporary romance with friends becoming more to each other. I thought that this story had some sweet moments as well as humorous moments. Elliot and Fe had great chemistry! Although I do like the love at first sight stories, my favorite type of story is this kind of story when the love between the two characters grow during your time with them! This was a fun, sweet read that I enjoyed.

Eight Steps: A friends to lovers romance by Taylor Sullivan is a fun read. The story is about Elliot and Fe who are roommates and friends. Elliot asks Fe to help him get the girl because he is the nice guy often overlooked. What will happen when they complete their experiment? I enjoyed the characters and the nerdiness of Elliot and Fe. The banter was fun and realistic. The two show that friendship is important between men and women. This was a cute story and made me laugh at times. I overall enjoyed this book and recommend it if you are looking for a light, fun read.

Eight Steps-A Friends to Lovers Romance by Taylor Sullivan. This is a cute friends to lovers Romance with Elliot and Fe who begin as best friends and room mates. Fe being the shy, nervous girl who loves to read decides to help nerdy, “nice guy”Elliot become the ultimate alpha male character to get the girl he thinks he wants. Can they pull this off? Better question can they pull It off without realizing they might feel things more than friendship for each other. The story was cute, with funny moments, it flowed well and kept you entertained. I liked the characters each had their own issues which made them seem more real.

Five Stars

Eight steps to help you find out who is right for you. I found it funny that they didn’t realize what was happening. Eli needs a confidence boost. The details from the author had me imagining a very hot guy. I love how Eli described Fe. The things we do to try and get what we think we need. The author made the story both humorous and serious. The author gave these two a great foundation to start and through some emotions in the mix to make them rethink their bond. I could understand why Fe acted out in anger. You know this person as your best friend and yet your thinking inappropriate things about them. Overall I liked this story and how the author played out every roll.
