A tendency dark and dangerous by Emmalyn Danvers is a novel written in verse. I have never read a novel written in verse before nor have a read a book by this author before. I thought the book was well written. It really wasn’t my cup of tea if you know what I’m saying but, the author did a good job describing the scenes and the feelings.
Addictions come in all shapes and forms. One could be addicted to gambling, drugs, alcohol or even a person. In this book, Evangeline finds an addiction in this book that is hard to break. She seemed to have it all. A great job, a sweet, caring boyfriend and awesome friends. Is she willing to lose it all for her addiction?
Landon Kelly is a dark and mysterious person she meets at an art gallery. Her life changes when she meets him. She is living a double life but soon that will change. Will it be a happy ending or will she lose everything?

Holy Wow what a raw and powerful read. Very emotional yet the twists and turns had me on the edge turning the pages fast to see what happens next. I couldn’t put it down once I started reading. I’m definitely going to go back read this again. I’m just speechless. Wow! I’m definitely going to be reading more from this Author. This is a definite read I highly recommend it

I’m not entirely sure where to start with this review; it certainly evoked a whole host of emotions from me whilst reading it. It did take me a little time to get to use to the way in which the author had written it but it actually fitted the storyline quite well. I’m not sure I really got to know the characters all that well however I did really like them. I actually really felt for Evangeline, I think I could tell that she was desperately unhappy with her life but seemed like she wanted to please people until she had the opportunity to please herself for once. I did have this thing for Landon at the beginning of the story – however that didn’t really last all that long! I have to admit the author did an amazing job with the twists in the story because it absolutely did not go the way I had predicted at the start! I was a little gutted when the story finished so I am hoping there will be more to come from this author! Her writing style was intriguing and engaging! I can’t wait to read more from her in the future.

Sitting here wondering what in the world I just read…… Not even sure where to start with this review.
I have never read a book that was in the free-verse format and when I read the synopsis and it stated this it had me totally curious…Can I just say Holy Mackerel I loved this…I read it in a little over an hour, that was with a break and just focussing on the style I was completely impressed. It read so easy and so smooth and there were no little details that didn’t need to be there, I loved how it moved and I hope to read many more books like this.
Now onto the story itself…Ummmm ok, that didn’t go anywhere near like I thought it would, my jaw was on the floor and i sat just staring trying to wrap my head around it. I wanted to scream at Evangeline and I wanted to completely beat another character and shake another one and then I was laughing at others, this just had me a complete hot mess, but I wanted more when I finished. This was an awesome story and had me guessing till the very end.
Don’t let the free-verse turn you away from this book, it worked in every way it was supposed to in my opinion and I have already looked to see if this author has anything else available and I don’t see anything, so I’ll keep watching and hoping that she writes more because this was completely and sincerely Amazing!

A Tendency Dark and Dangerous by Emmalyn Danvers is a dark romance with a twist. This story is told in free verse. I’ve never read a book that was written in free verse so it took a little bit to get used to it but once I did, I couldn’t put it down.
Evangeline has everything she could want, which is hard to believe after enduring her childhood but as far as appearances go, she has the perfect life. Good friends, great boyfriend, and a job that may land her a promotion, what more could she want. When she least expects it, she meets Landon Kelly and there is something about him that draws her in. Landon is persistent, dark and commanding. Surely, it’s only a matter of time before Evangeline gives in. The question is, what will happen when she does? Perfect isn’t so perfect anymore and as the reader, we are there to witness it all.
This book is so emotional, I felt all over the place. I can only imagine how Evangeline felt. This story is not a light read but it is so worth it. I highly suggest, even if you’ve never read a book in free verse, you give this book a chance!

A Tendency Dark and Dangerous by Emmalyn Danvers is a dark and raw intriguing read. It is a quick read but it is a powerful story of temptation that is not good for the soul. A temptation that leads to a place where you don’t recognise yourself and what you have become. A temptation that you crave that you feel right down to your bones. A temptation that destroys your life. It is a story that toys with your emotions and shows that addictions come in many forms.
Evangeline has it all until she doesn’t. She has been tempted by the devil himself and destroyed everything she held dear, including her soul. Will she ever be able to find her way back from the black hole she finds herself in.
It is a uniquely written story that is so intense you can not stop reading.

A Tendency Dark and Dangerous by Emmalyn Danvers is a love story with a difference. It is told in verse. It is twisted, sexy, thrilling and dark. I was instantly intrigued with what went in to a story that is written in free verse. Having never quite developed a love for poetry, I just felt I needed to experience all that is new to me and this exciting author had to offer. I was immediately glad I got to read this.
Evangeline coasts along in life, going with the flow. Landon changes all that. A hunger is awakened that she didn’t know existed. Career orientated, she embarks on an addictive, sensual journey of discovery. An emotional journey. Landon is sexy domination. Drawn to him like no other, he introduces her to lustful addiction. A gripping and intriguing story that has highs, lows, and everything in between. A mesmerising story. A beautiful story. And unlike anything I have previously read. 5 stars.

A Tendency Dark and Dangerous by Emmalyn Danvers will leave you speechless, in a good way. It took me only a moment to get used to her free verse writing style and I noticed something, I am a speed reader and inhale books but having this book in free verse, it made me slow down and feel … feel the story…feel the need…experience the darkness…you get deep into Evangeline’s being and once you are caught, it doesn’t let you go…oh my… The writer has given us some great characters – Evangeline, our happy-on-the-surface heroine, her partner Jesse, her obsession Landon and all those great supporting characters that play such a huge role! Please do not be put out by the free verse, give yourself a moment and you will not regret slowing down and digging into the story. I will leave you with Evangeline’s thoughts that shook me and made me ask myself the same – “Who am I? and What do I want and need?”

Wow what a story!! This is a dark, intriguing, twisted, steamy, poetic, read and so much more than I’m able to articulate right now. This is the first book I have read by this author and I’m so glad that I took a chance because this book left me wanting more. It took me a little while to get used to this writing style but I loved every minute of it. This story was full of emotion, Evangeline’s life turns completely upside down when she decides to give into her desire for Landon. What price will she pay for her new addiction? Will she lose everything she cares about? These are things you will find out as you read this amazing story. I wish I had more words to describe how much I truly enjoyed reading this book. I highly recommend this story.

A Tendency Dark and Dangerous written by Emmalyn Danvers is a great debut story for this author. It’s sexy, hot, dark, and quite addictive. I just couldn’t put it down and when I got to the last page I was cursing because I wanted more. The characters are great and the emotions in the words where awesome I just loved it. Evangeline has been living her life happily so she though until she meets Landon. She knows she should stay away from him but there is something addictive about him. If she takes what he’s offering she might lose everything in her life and even her mind. Will she take that step towards Landon? Will she get caught if she? Can she give up everything? Reading in verse takes some getting used to. But it was a different form of writing that had me taking notice. Every verse flowed together and made this story intriguing. This is the first book I have ever read like this and it won’t be my last. I found myself forgetting the food on the stove because the author weaved a story filled with poetic darkness. Evangeline is at a point were she has to choose to live for herself and destroy people’s lives. Or go back to being everyone’s shadow. She tasted that dark and dangerous life by the hands of a real bad boy. He didn’t play nice and he didn’t want to hear no. Landon is like your favorite sweet or wine. You know you shouldn’t indulge too much but the addiction is too strong to resist. I believe the story was better because it was different. I think this is a turning point for writing styles. The author took a leap off a cliff putting this story in verse. I think the author will land beautifully once people really dig into this style.

What can I say but wow. This book is the dark side of Fifty Shades and I wasn’t disappointed. I found the author’s writing style to be very unique. The author is new to me and I was very impressed. The darkness of this book just really grabbed me from the start. I was sucked into the world created and couldn’t put this book down.
I found Evangeline’s character unique and I could relate to her in a way. I was drawn into the situation with Landon. I could feel my heart breaking for her when her whole world comes down. I have to say that this author really hit on a big fantasy that some woman have and also highlights the downside and dark side of it. The forbidden lust and the secrets that it leads to wind up really effecting her life and I found myself in her place as it all comes to a head. It really was a well written book and I really enjoyed its format as it was new and refreshing. I would like to read more from this author in the future.

A Tendency Dark and Dangerous was a great 5 star read. Wow, what did I just read?
Evangeline meets Landon at an art gallery show. She is quickly attracted to the dark, handsome, demanding man which threatens her happiness with someone else.
Evangeline can’t stop thinking about Landon and when he texts her to come see him, she goes. That night changed everything for her. Somewhere on this battlefield at the edge of who I’ve become lies a casualty whose name I’ve nearly forgotten.
She becomes obsessed with Landon and his dominance. There is something about the thrill of being bad that keeps drawing her in, needing it like an addiction. I have become a slave to my own sins.
There are some unexpected twists. I think I’m still floored at how Landon was with Evangeline. This is a quick read that has some shocking moments, for me anyway. This is my first read from Emmalyn Danvers and I loved it. I like how Landon never backed down or went soft in his character, I love the dark and demanding men in a read and Landon didn’t disappoint.

“The word addiction could have a thousand facets…”
I read this in under an hour while sitting at my desk. It is “A dark, twisted tale told in free-verse” and I think every dark, twisted tale should be told this way.
I won’t say anything about the content. I will tell you it packed quite the punch and was wonderful and poetic. Sure it is dark too, but without darkness there would be no light.
I will be searching for more stories penned by this author IMMEDIATELY!!

Wow… this was a melodious and poetic tale. I truly loved every moment of it from start to finish. Emmalyn Danvers was a completely new author to me when I first picked up A Tendency Dark and Dangerous, but I can tell you this will not be my last foray into her writing mind. I absolutely can’t say enough how much I enjoyed the out of the box writing style that she used. Now I will preface it with I am a huge fan of poetry, and this book read to me like a sonnet, a poem of love and life. I was grasped by the emotion I felt just with the way this story was portrayed in the writing itself. Then to have such a wonderful story to be told by it as well? Well lets just say this was an easy five star read and review for me.
Evangeline would appear to have it all. The perfect job, great friends that she can count on and loves, and the perfect boyfriend that she adores. Life is finally perfect, and she damn well deserves it after the past she has endured. Then one day Landon Kelly walks into her life and everything is about to be turned on its head. Everything Evangeline thought she knew will be thoroughly evaluated and tested… and this makes for some juicy reading. I won’t divulge much more, for that you will have to scoop up this gem for yourself and clear a few hours of your evening. I know I needed it, I finished this in one sitting and could have easily gone back for more! Thank you for such a wonderful story and I can’t wait to see what will come next from you Ms. Danvers!

a great read about temptation. Evangeline is happy with her life until she meets Landon Kelly at an art gallery showcasing a friends work. Upon meeting him, she is instantly drawn into a world od fire and temptation without even knowing his name. She tries her best to resist the call, but her heart betrays her. As events unfold, will this temptation make her happy or ruin everything? A great read. Well developed plot with twists and turns that i just couldnt put down. Well developed characters like Evangeline trying to put herself first but still vulnerable or Jesse as kind and caring. Great cast of supporting characters like the control freak June or the calm Mira. i loved the visual detail throughout the novel with the sense of art bright and colorful in vivid colours of pinkd and oranges as something more and to tell a story. i also loved the imzgery of destruction with the shipwreks and fire as conduming but emotive. Or the house by the lake as one serene moment in all of life with the sunrise and the cool waters. Or the busy sense of the cafe bars and Evangelines work fill of life and people all conveyed through verse was wonderfully written. Or the use of the sense throughout with smell and touch and taste as ifyou were actuslly there. Setting the novel in free verse was a brillaint idea to display Evangelines thoughts and feelings. The lack of punctuation in short stanzas was a brilliant addition, for a fast paced feel that even pulled the reader into the spiral of events and was also easy to follow. Overall, a great read and i would give it five stars.

A Tendency Dark and Dangerous by Emmalyn Danvers is a surprisingly intriguing and engrossing read. It is sexy, hot, somewhat dark, and quite addictive. The story isn’t like any I have read before- because this is written in ‘free-verse’, and does have a poetic pace and structure to the way the story is told. That did take a little getting used to, and I applaud the author for taking the chance to be different from other books in similar genre’s. Evangeline is twenty seven- years old and from all appearances, has the perfect life. A great job, good friends, and a loving boyfriend. She is focused on her career in a publishing house, and will soon be up for promotion. She has definitely come a long way from the difficult childhood that she once endured. But her life is quickly turned upside down when she meets Landon Kelly, a sexy, successful businessman- with a dark and commanding edge. She becomes beguiled by him- as he stirs a powerful need within her. He has a reputation as a player, and has a ‘way’ with women- who seem to be drawn to him like moths to a flame. Evangeline is pulled to him, like nothing ever before. Her emotions are all over the place, and especially feels guilty for being so attracted to this man, when she already has a loving, safe and dependable boyfriend. But Landon is nothing if not persistent, and Evangeline can only fight their intense chemistry for so long. When she finally gives in to desire, it starts a fire that won’t be put out. Her ‘perfect’ life begins to crumble as addiction takes over. And we’re right there, with front row seats, to see how it all plays out. Intriguing. Emotional. Heartbreaking. Gripping. Dark. Sexy. Well worth the read! This story gave my emotions quite a battering, and I really felt for Evangeline. This is a fascinating look at a particular facet of addiction- it’s definitely not a light and fluffy read. I was so angry in parts, there was a certain character whom I really wanted to kick in the ‘family jewels’ for being a total PIG! But I won’t get into the reasons why because it would give away too much and spoil the story for you. I do recommend looking past the fact that this is written in free-verse, give it a chance because the story is worth your time. I am definitely looking forward to reading more of Ms. Danvers work!

I loved this book! The format of this book is a little different but I loved it! This is a dark, twisted story about Evangeline becoming addicted to something she wants but may not be good for her, Landon. Her problem is that she just may lose everything that she cares for. Will she pay the high price to have what she wants? This story pulled me in right from the beginning. I couldn’t put it down until the last page. I felt as if I was right there with them.
