Summer is on the run from the mafia after her best friend was murdered. Luc has worked hard for everything that he has required in his life and businesses, but when Luc buys the company that Summer is working at, he ends up thinking that she is a mole. He can see that she is hiding something from him. When Luc finds out that he is the heir of one of the top mafia families, will it ruin everything he worked so hard for? How will Summer react, and will she be able to trust him to keep her safe?
I seriously can never get enough from this author or this series in general! Each book they have written I am Truly captivated and hooked. Each book in this series brings secrets and darkness of the character’s own to light, and I am hooked and mesmerized! It takes a skilled author to truly to achieve that again and again!
I love how each one of these books in the series that brings on two characters that are placed together due to unforeseen circumstances. I loved Luc and Summer so freaking much. They had that chemistry that you only dream about. Their ties together seemed like it was just random, but behind every thing that happens with this Mafia in Chicago, there are secrets or skeletons in the closet that always come to light…whether you like it or not. Summer quickly became a fan favorite for me. her intuition was always spot on, and how she saw the world compared to the females in other books was different and enlightening. I learned so much from the way she sees. The moments she and Luc spent together were amazing, the suspense was to die for as well. I freaking loved this one! Loved it so freaking much!
If you have not had the pleasure of reading this amazing author, I must say read books by them as of right this moment! If you have not read other books in this Mafia series, it is best to read from the 1st one to truly understand and get wrapped up in the affairs of the Mafia. This book alone is a must read, it was perfect in every which way, and I highly do recommend it! It is a must read! I am dead serious about that!
Summer has always had bad luck, from the moment she was born she was thrust into a world of poverty and neglect all she had was the family of misfits she has built around her but when her best friend gets into trouble and she needs to escape for her life, can the dark stranger she meets be the one to rescue her and bring light into her life.
Luc has strived for what he has got in life no one has handed him anything, now running a successful business but what happens when your past comes knocking and throws you into a world of danger, family, and loyalty and to top it of an attraction to a stranger you think is trying to ruin you.
Can I just say OMG, I knew Luc’s story would be explosive but oh me was it that and more? I love this series and although they are totally dangerous and have their own set of morals the Five Families welcomed both with open arms and drew them into the family fold with easy.
Your heartaches at the beginning with Summer and the strength she must have to escape the New York Mafia but when she gets thrust into the arms of Luc you see the chemistry bubbling all through the storyline. I always love the way that the main female characters are just as smart and dangerous as the Alpha males and that the relationship between the bosses and their wives is seen as equals with each of them having their very own skill set.
The story is well written and weaves through opening more glimpses into the Chicago world of the mafia. I am so glad that there is a hint to the next and that Trey’s story will not disappoint as the other books haven’t. I can not wait for the next instalment to arrive.

Ruthless Heir is the 5th installment in the Mafia Elite Series. Though it can be read as a standalone, you’ll want to read every single one as you learn more about each character and family member involved in this series. As Luc Savino learns of his role to play in the Brambilla family, his world is tossed around with his new executive assistant/one-night stand. Secrets start unraveling. As always, I am looking forward to the next installment.
Book five of the series and I am still here! Amy McKinley is killing it! Still so in love with these ruthless mob men! Luc and Summers story is exciting, action packed and filled to the brim with chemistry! So well written making it a book you can’t put down untik it’s finished!

This is book 5 in the Mafia Elite series, and it can be read as a standalone, but I recommend reading the first 4 books as well to get the most out of it. This whole series is great. This is Luc and Summer’s story. Luc was the missing heir to the Brambilla family. One of the Chicago mafia bosses goes to collect and take him to fulfill his destiny as a mob boss. Summer’s friend got her into some trouble with a different mafia family and is on the run. They have a one night stand and the next morning she realizes she slept with her new boss. Luc won’t go to Chicago without Summer, because he believes she’s a spy for the former boss. The attraction is still there between them, but can they overcome their obstacles and be together?

I absolutely DEVOURED this book. It’s got to be the best book in the series. Holy smokes, the romance, the passion, the typical Mafia twist- it’s all just so amazing. I love, love, love, LOVE, this book. It actually gave me a bit of a book hangover and I almost cried when I found out I had to wait until May for the next one. I hope she does a follow up on Luc and Summer, because I need more! Can’t wait for book 6!
This is the 5th book in this series, and it was good. I have not read all the books in the series, so it is a little hard to keep up with all of the different characters that have come in the previous books. This was a short but good read for me. I liked how they were not part of the mafia, and had no connections previously, but were welcomed as if they had always been part of the family. I will be going back to read the other books in the series, I can’t wait for that.
The author does a great job in this fifth book of the Mafia Elite Series. This book can be read as a stand-alone, but why would you wanna do that and miss out on the other great books in this series. The five families bring Luc, the long lost brother(which Luc knows nothing about) in to complete the circle of the new rein of bosses. Luc brings Summer along, his newly met secretary, along with her being his one night stand from the night before, in to the Mafia family and little do they know what’s in store for their new lives. You don’t want to miss Luc and Summer’s story.

Another fantastic addition to this very addicting series. Luc and Summer will always have a piece of my heart. The world this author has created is one that I happily get lost in with each new book. I will highly suggest reading these all in order to enhance the overall storyline and world. Past characters are very much a part of each individual storyline. It’s got everything you need in a story that will keep you up reading until the very end. The action, drama, family unit and romance all comes together for a well earned five star story, I highly recommend not only this story but the series and it’s author!
Luc is set to possibly be the newest heir to rule the Brambilla family and he has no clue. Summer is working as a temp at a Financial company. Summer’s roommate Lauralee has been on again off again dating Ben, who is in the New York Italian mafia. She has recorded a conversation between Ben and someone that she feels if she blackmails him that they will have enough money to finally live how she feels they should be. Unfortunately it ends up costing her with her life, and Ben comes after Summer. Well after learning about Lauralee she ends up in a bar drinking her cares away and ends up meeting her new boss, even though she doesn’t know its him yet, and they end up having a one night stand. The following day at work as the merger is finally taking shape and her old boss is being escorted out of the building calling everyone feel that this is all her fault, she ends up being photographed and possibly exposed to Ben. Luc has come to believe that somehow Summer has drained his accounts and is working with other owners that he had taken over their companies as revenge. But much to his surprise it is the Chicago Italian mafia and he had to deal with them and he is taking Summer along for the ride. Could this finally be her place to fit in?
Luc has just taken over a company that Summer works for as an intern. They had a steamy night the evening before, but I’m sure neither expected to see the other at their place of work. Summer is on the run from Ben Amato, a soldier for the Amato Mafia family in New York. Her roommate Lauralee overheard something she shouldn’t have and made plans to blackmail Ben. She also had Summer promise to keep the evidence with her no matter what happened. Luc believes her to be a spy for the former CEO or one of the other competitors, but he will soon see that is far from the truth. They have an insane attraction and great chemistry, but will it be enough? Both of their worlds are about to be turned upside down.
Another great installment to the series! I absolutely love the way McKinley develops her characters. They are so well-rounded and she doesn’t play into the stereotypical role of women. I must say that I am missing some of the characters we’ve grown to know and love, but that’s only because I still want to know what’s going on with them! But McKinley doesn’t disappoint with her characters. I love the way Luc and Summer’s story evolves throughout the novel. McKinley does an awesome job of driving the plot forward without rushing the development of the characters or timeline. And her *spicy* scenes are perfect! There is just enough of them to entertain without being gratuitous. I absolutely love this author! I can’t wait for the next installment to the series!
This book is the fifth in a series and can easily be read as a stand alone book. Each book follows a leader of one of the 5 Italian American mafia families. This book is about Luc Savino and Summer Johansson. Luc is the heir to the Brambilla family. The only problem is that he doesn’t know it yet. Summer finds herself in the middle of the Chicago mafia as they bring Luc into the fold. She has her own skeletons in her closet and is hoping they don’t find out. Luc must make some choices in his life. Will he protect Summer and keep her safe? Will Summer be able to let her guard down to let Luc and the rest of the families in? Will they be able to make their love work? Find out in this fantastic book!

Summer’s best friend messed with the wrong crowd and took Summer with her. When Summer makes a run for it, she lands in California, working as a temp. Unfortunately for her, the company is taken over and her picture is splayed over the internet. Her new boss, as of this morning, happens to be her one night stand from last night. When Luc misunderstands what he overhears, he takes her with him to Chicago. There he finds out that he is Mafia royalty. Opinion I think this is my favorite mafia series. How McKinley is able to come up with situations that are intriguing yet plausible (at least in the realm of fiction) is beyond me. With each book that I read, I am drawn further into her Mafia Elite world. This book has it all from not knowing about your parents to enemies to lovers to an unplanned pregnancy. I am not sure that McKinley is going to be able to top this one for me.

disappears. He quickly learns the mafia did it to get his attention, but not before he accuses the companies temporary secretary, Summer, who he slept with the night before he takes over the company. He soon discovers his mom, who abandoned him as a child, was a mafia princess from the Chicago Five Families, and that he is now the next in line to head the family. This is another amazing book by Amy McKinley that can be read as a standalone, but is so much better as a part of the series that it is a part of. This is the fifth book of seven, and I cannot wait to read the rest of them.

What I loved about this one the most? We got introduced to two completely new characters. In past books we had an inkling of who and what they were about. This one is such a surprise! I zipped right through it! Entertaining, dangerous and full of characters we have come to love!
The meet-cute between Luc and Summer is fresh and gives a small look into each character. I enjoyed getting to know them and I could feel the connection between them coming off the pages.
Seeing all the wives and Boss’ of the Five Families again was nice and fun. Those girls are a hoot! Their men all have that dangerous vibe. Its easy to see how Luc and Summer fit right in.
This is a perfect addition to the series. I cant wait for the next one!

The Five Families are about to go through an astounding transformation. Summer is on the run from Ben Amato, her roommate’s ex-boyfriend. Lauralee had recorded a private conversation and planned to blackmail Ben for money. Despite Summer’s misgivings about Ben’s involvement with the New York Mafia, Lauralee puts her plan in motion. When Summer arrives home from her job, she is attacked by Ben. She manages to escape with the evidence. Summer ends up in California and has a job as an assistant for a multi-million dollar corporation. When she sees Lauralee’s face with a report of her death, Summer goes into a hotel bar and attempts to drown her sorrows. She uncharacteristically ends up having a one-night stand with Luc. When Summer awakens, she sees she is late for work. As she hurries through the lobby at work, news cameras are taking pictures of her ex-boss from the take-over by another company.
Luc believes there is a spy in his company. When he finds his personal accounts are all empty, he automatically sees red. In front of his office sits Summer. The two lock eyes and he targets her. Summer jumps up from her desk and runs out of the office, only to be detained by security. During Luc’s interrogation of Summer, Max Caruso interrupts and requires Luc to travel to Chicago immediately. Still not convinced Summer isn’t the one that stole his money, Luc drags her with him to Chicago. What fate does Summer face?
I am in love with this mafia romance series. Amy just keeps surprising me and when I think she can’t do any better she does. She always ups the ante with each book. You need to read the books in order, or you are missing out on sooooooooo much. This book has it all making it a great romantic suspense story, with plenty of action and danger, violence and intrigue, murder and drama, secrets and lies, and let’s not forget the amazing sizzle factor and off the chart’s chemistry. I almost feel like I have run a marathon after reading this as. There are surprises around every corner, tension runs high, and the suspense is palpable. This is Luc and Summer’s story, and they are great characters. They are complex and fully developed and oh so loveable. I am not going to share anything because Amy’s gems need to be discovered all on their own.
Ruthless Heir is the fifth book in the Mafia Elite series. It’s a gripping series, so I couldn’t wait to read the next book when it came out! The series focuses on the Italian Mafia in Chicago, with each book centring on different members of the families. Some have been brought up in this life, whilst others are new to it and drawn in either by family connection or romantic relationships. I would definitely recommend reading the whole series in order. This story does work as a standalone – both of the main characters are new to the Mafia so we get to learn about it from their perspective – but knowing the backstories of the other characters adds to the experience. Ruthless Heir is Luc’s story. He has clawed his way from a difficult childhood to becoming a successful businessman, unaware even of the existence of the Chicago Mafia, let alone his rightful place amongst them. His background makes him a good match for Summer – both used to having to fend for themselves. A misunderstanding leads to Summer getting wrapped up in Mafia business (definitely nothing to do with the chemistry between her and Luc…). It’s interesting to see the families through her eyes – someone who is fully aware of the public image of the notorious bosses and their wives. She knows it’s dangerous to trust anyone, especially the Mafia. Ruthless Heir was another book I couldn’t put down, and definitely gets 5 stars from me! It’s an action-packed story with plenty of twists and surprises along the way. I’m looking forward to the next book, due out in the summer!

I honestly cannot ever get enough of this author. Every book she writes just seems so effortless and flawless. This book is exactly why. It is exciting and fast paced and full of off the charts chemistry. From the first page I knew this book was going to be amazing. The characters were so engaging. I felt the chemistry between them so vividly, it coloured every single interaction. The writing was so captivating. The author really knows how to grab your attention and not let go. This is such an incredible series that just gets better with each book and I can’t wait to see what comes next.
Wow okay by now I know I sound like a broken record; this author is one of my favourites as she never ceases to amaze me. This storyline captivated me from the very start! This is an enemy to lovers read and the 5th book in the Mafia Elite series, a series that should be read in order for reader enjoyment.
I love how well this storyline was written, it’s so perfectly detailed and feels really realistic and I found I could easily picture everything playing out in my mind. The connection between the characters was so strong but the relationship I loved the most was Summer’s relationship with the wives, it felt so real and I so badly wanted to join in!
If you are looking for your next mafia read look no further this is the book for you, it’s one you won’t want to miss!!

Another wonderful read from the Mafia Elite Series. Summers best friend got mixed up in the wrong crowd which means summer has to run and hide. She moves from the east coast all the way to California, she has a new name, a new job and things are going well. That’s until she goes into work one day and finds that her new boss is last nights, very great, one night stand. When he sees her there he immediately thinks that she is the reason all of his money just went missing. Summer has secrets, Luc is taking over as a Mafia Boss. Luc and Summer grow on your quick. Their story of learning to trust one another with their amazing one night stand lingering in the back of their minds is defiantly one to read!

Let me start with a list of things I love about this book: One, I love the way Nicole has been accepted now that her husband is gone. It is a beautiful thing. Two, I love the way the ‘wives’ accepted Summer. Three, I love how easily Luc accepted and became a part of the family. Four, I love the relationship between Luc and Summer (Lummer???). Five, EVERYTHING!!!! I have been in love with this series (and author) since I read No Way Out. The characters are fun, intelligent, bad ass, strong, funny, and dedicated to family.
Now, what I didn’t like about this book: The length!! That is it. I didn’t want it to end!! I wanted to hang out with the family a little longer.
This author knocks it out of the park again with a stellar addition to the series. I am as hooked now as I was after the first one. Meet me in the warehouse with a saint card, the dagger, and I will swear my allegiance to any one of these families. I am all in until the end.

This is book 5 in the Mafia Elite series. I have lived all these books. Each one is unique however I do recommend reading them from the start so you know how the families work and who is part of what family. The stories are full of danger as well as the romance. The men are hard and dark which only increases their appeal.
In this book we meet Summer. Summer is on the run after her friend tried Cross a member of the New York Mafia. She escapes to Chicago where she has a one night stand with the person who turns out to be her new boss. Now she is forced to accompany him as his assistant when she is accused of stealing his money but things aren’t what they seem and the secret that Summer is trying to protect as well as her safety could now be in danger. Luc is the heir of the Chicago Mafia although he isn’t aware of this fact until Max turns up and explains things to him. Luc can’t help the attraction he feels towards Summer. However he knows she is hiding something and what that is he plans to find out. As things start to work through Luc realises just how much danger Summer is in. Will he stand up and protect her? Or will he deliver her back to the New York Mafia to avoid more conflict between the Mafia families?
Phenomenal book! The story of Luc and Summer was exciting, intriguing and entertaining. Susan is running from the Mafia. Luc is joining the Mafia. They have a unique set of challenges to overcome. The story is very engaging with its characters that are contemporary Mafia characters. They will pull you write in. You get to reading and can’t put the book down. You have to know what’s coming next. I love the fact that previous characters from the series are tied in. The author has written the series in such away that it all intertwines in such a comfortable way. The plot is really challenging. I love how it takes a twist that you weren’t expecting. This is a terrific book in a fantastic series that you must read. Just one-click it, you know you want to. I would give it more than a 5 if I could. It’s one of my favorite reads for 2022. Highly recommended.
Now we know what it would be like to be welcomed into the folds of the Mafia Elite. Thus far in this series, we have been getting to know this specific group of family and friends within the Five Families, and almost all of them have known each other since birth. This installment introduces two new characters that have had no ties to the Chicago Mafia until they are abruptly swept up into the whirlwind of the lives of these folks that we have come to love throughout this series. I would say this was my favourite so far, but I just love them all!
Self-doubt can damage one’s soul and self-worth and this is clearly represented within Summer’s character, having the reader root for her from the very start, and it’s lovely to watch her blossom throughout this novel. In comes Luc, who has grown into a successful business man through hard work and dedication, and can see the doubt and the emotions that run through Summer, but finds it difficult to move forward with the contrasting emotions that he holds for her, and vice versa. The writing style of this author has become my absolute go to when I’m looking for something to bring me out of a funk, and she delivers every single time. As always, highly recommend this series, and look forward to reading more!
This is the fifth book in this series which I enjoyed and it just keeps getting better and better. This is an author that I never hesitate to pick up as I have enjoyed reading her books from the first book. The author’s writing style is such that they pull you in from the first word. Her attention to details make her stories realistic. They are engaging and well written. This book is no different. I enjoyed being pulled into the story from the beginning by the characters. They are relatable and kept me coming back for more. They bring the story to life on each page. Their chemistry is great and they have great growth. This is a mafia series that I highly suggest reading all the previous books which you will enjoy just as much as this one. A story that is full of romance and action. A fast paced story that you don’t want to miss. A story that has great plot growth and is hard to put down. I highly recommend this book and this author. You don’t want to miss Luc and Summer’s story.
