Murder She Meowed is the second book in the Bookshop Kitties Mystery series by Ruth J. Hartman. I know I am always in for a treat when one of Ms. Hartman’s books lands on my Kindle- and this definitely didn’t disappoint. As expected, this is a well-woven, fun cozy mystery- a bit of a whodunnit with murder, crime & investigation, quirky characters, feline cast members, humour, banter, drama, adventure, intrigue, drama, angst, small town charm, clever touches, family, friendship, and surprising developments. Christy Bailey is thrust into the middle of a murder mystery while helping her friend clean up her pastry shop after her aunt’s wedding. But finding a body wasn’t part of the plan. Especially since the body is her friend’s ex-husband- putting Janey at the top of the suspect list- and so things take an intriguing turn. We follow along as Christy and co set about finding some answers to prove her friend’s innocence. What happens makes for an entertaining read. Looking forward to more from Ms. Hartman. Happy Reading…

Curse of the Forbidden Island by C.A King is another fantastic, cleverly crafted, and highly original paranormal treat. And another great read from Ms. King’s seemingly limitless imagination! Selene has been on a bit of an unlucky streak of late, jobless and homeless she is desperate to find something that will get her back on her feet. Then the perfect position appears that includes somewhere to live- and it’s located on a tropical island. A winning combination for sure. But stepping onto the island starts off a bit of a mysterious and steamy adventure—- and certainly grabbed her attention… Well worth the read to uncover the mystery and discover all the spicy details for yourself…. This is a paranormal reverse-harem romance with mystery, secrets, steam, intrigue, drama, a touch of danger, tension, and engrossing developments. I am always excited when I see that Ms. King has released another book, as I always know that I am going to love every word- and this was no exception. From the moment I laid eyed on the beautiful and intriguing cover, I was hooked. The story was fun, mysterious, steamy, and captivating. The only issue I had was that I wish it was longer- as I would have loved to sink my teeth into a full-length novel, because this is a very short novella (52pgs), and although the story was ‘complete’, I really wanted to know more- and stay immersed in Ms. King’s world longer. I am hoping that this is the first book/introduction to a new series- so fingers crossed. This is a wonderfully crafted and intriguing tale that kept me entertained the whole way through. Hidden Mischief is the first book in the Shattered Embrace series by Alyndra Quinn. This also appears to be Ms. Quinn’s debut novel- so I was curious to see what lay between these covers. The blurb certainly engaged my curiosity to want to find out what lay under these covers- but as a debut novel, could Ms. Quinn deliver on the promises held in the blurb? Well, I am happy to say that she does indeed deliver a captivating story that held my attention the whole way through. There were a few minor issues that I popped up here and there- but nothing that detracted any from my overall enjoyment of the story. We meet Ashton as she applies to join an exclusive BDSM club, Shattered Embrace, and there is definitely a bit of a mysteriousness about her. I immediately wanted to know her and find out what drew her to the club scene, and what happened in her past to make her feel she had to ‘retire’ from the scene. Add in the fact that her best friend, who is a Dom, didn’t know she was a sub- and I was pretty much hooked. Then Zachery enters the scene- and yep, he delivers all the Alpha-sexiness, so I am all-in! Chemistry sizzles and sparks ignite- which results in a slowwww-burn that gives off some intense heat. This story is made even more intriguing by the fact that Ashton doesn’t realise until it’s too late, that the CEO of the company she has just been hired to consult for, is also the head of the BDSM club she has just applied to….awkward much. And he’s also her best friend’s brother- ummmm, doubly awkward. So if you love Dom/sub stories, a little mysteriousness, sizzle, and great characters, then you will definitely want to get you hands on a copy of this book to explore. This is a steamy, opposites attract contemporary romance with a best friend’s brother element, tension, palpable chemistry, banter, a BDSM club, Dom/sub dynamics, Alpha type male, protective MC, a strong independent yet submissive FMC, friendship, slow burn romance, spicey encounters, humour, secrets, emotion, drama, and intriguing developments- which made for an engrossing read. I really wasn’t sure what to expect from this book to be honest, and I certainly didn’t expect to enjoy it as much as I did- but after reading this, I immediately added Ms. Quinn to my ‘must read’ author list – and I am excited to see what the rest of the series contains. Test of the Four is the second book in The Serrulata Saga by A.E. Bennett. This continues the adventure we started in ‘Gathering of the Four’ (Book #1)- so if you haven’t read that yet, I highly recommend that you do in order to fully appreciate this story. As with the first book, this is a sci-fi fantasy adventure with a dystopian feel, action, drama, danger, a ‘quest’ of sorts, challenges, threats, friendship, romance, mystery, tension, and intrigue (just to name a few). The story/series is set in the distant future which adds an extra element of interest to the overall storyline, plus we get several POV’s which gives us a broader perspective of the story/series as well. After really enjoying the first book in the series, I was excited to embark on more of the adventure, diving this second instalment. While I did appreciate the story- there were times that I felt like this was ‘heavier’, slower going, choppier and more ‘wandering’ than I expected. The author has a very descriptive and detailed writing style, which really helps to paint a picture of the world, characters, and adventure- but at times I felt like this portion of the series/story got a bit lost in all the detail. It just didn’t have the same ‘dynamic’ and engrossing feel (for me) as the first book did…. But there was a lot of ground to cover here, so I put those above issues down to the author setting us up for what might happen in the next book/books. So, I will just have to wait and see. Leora, Roland, Aurora, and Leopold are continuing their adventure, having left the Realm- but things aren’t going quite so great. We follow along as they face threats & challenges, try to control & hone their ‘powers’, embark on romantic entanglements, and grapple with their own inner demons. Kingdom of the Ocean is the sixth and final book in the Relic Hunters series by Martin Ferguson. This was a bit of a bittersweet read for me knowing I was diving into the conclusion of this superb series, but also desperately needing to know how everything plays out in the end after everything they/we have been through. As with the other instalments in this series, this is a fantastic young adult action-adventure with wonderful characters, treasure hunting, the quest for Atlantis, family friendship, historical details, mythology, drama, mystery, danger, investigation, tension, an intriguing & complex plot, high stakes, and a race against time. This instalment picks up where the previous book left off, so if you are yet to read that book, or are yet to start the series, then I highly recommend that you do so before starting out on this final adventure. There are really important details, bridging storyline/arch, character introductions, backstories, and other important information contained in the previous books which you need to know in order to fully appreciate this fantastic instalment, as well as the series as a whole. Mr. Ferguson has done a fantastic job of delivering an exciting and fitting conclusion to the series, while ensuring that the various threads that have spanned the series were all tied up. But, I am ever hopeful that there are many more possible Relic Hunter adventures yet to come in the future — as even though the story and threads were tied up (for these six books and one novella)- things are left quite ‘open’ at the end…….. suggesting (at least to my ever-hopeful little heart anyway) that there are many more treasures/legends/myths/adventure left for the team to pursue I will again mention that this series would make a really great movie, TV series, or adventure/RPG game. Highly recommend for anyone who loves YA epic adventures, history, treasure hunting quests, and mysteries. Looking forward to seeing what Mr. Ferguson has in store for us next! Happy Reading…

Jackson Levi is a movie star with a bit of a reputation. Rosaline Butler is an unlucky in love fashion designer. So how do these two end up in a fake relationship? What happens when the lines between pretend and reality begin to blur? If you love a fun, sweet, and steamy contemporary romance with likeable characters you can fully invest in, with an engrossing storyline- then this is the book/series for you! Fade Into the Night is the fifth engrossing instalment in the Philly Heat series by Becky Flade. It is a fantastic, tense and intriguing romantic suspense- with an evil killer, secrets, action, tension, intensity, danger, mystery, drama, suspenseful developments, emotion, chemistry, sizzle, FBI, crime & investigation, and more. Philly Heat is a series of standalone books, where each instalment focuses on a different ‘couple’- but there are some interconnected characters/details which tie the whole series together. I recommend reading the previous books, too- because they are fantastic reads in their own rights. I have really enjoyed this series, excitedly pouncing on and devouring each new instalment as they release, and each new addition seems to slightly eclipse the previous ones, making it harder and harder to choose a favourite as they are all so good. Again, these two characters, FBI Special Agent Noah Danes ad Forensic Facial Reconstructionist Sadie Porter, were skilfully crafted into fully realised individuals with their own unique personalities, quirks, and flaws. They were so easy to connect with, so I was so absorbed by their story, quite quickly investing in them and anticipating the outcome of their whole saga. I really felt for them and what was/and had happened. Their chemistry and connection really simmered of the pages. While the tension and suspense was entirely palpable. Their past history also added an extra element of intrigue to the overall storyline. What happens makes for a gritty, gripping read.. Looking forward to whatever Ms. Flade does next! Happy reading!

Cray Saves the Day is the second book in The Adventures of Cray series by G Pa Rhymes. This is another really cute story that features Cray the crab and his friends- Hay the fox, Fay the turtle, Ray the seagull, with a special appearance by Queen Mer May (the mermaid). This adventure follows their quest to clean up the beach. The story is accompanied by lots of lovely, bright, colourful, interesting, and captivating illustrations — which help to bring the whole story to life. It is a really cute tale – told in a rhyming/rapping verse that adds an extra element of interest to the whole story. It also has some valuable messages woven into the story, environmental messages, teamwork, friendship, kindness, and a little whimsey. Easy to read. Educational. Fun. Interesting. Beach-side setting. Animal friends. Wonderful illustrations. Cute story. Well worth the read. Cutter: Devil’s Spawn Daddies by Victoria Saccenti is a contemporary romantic suspense with a DDLG dynamic (she’s a Middle), BDSM, action, danger, chemistry, tension, angst, emotion, dramatic developments, mystery, secrets, intrigue, and more. Cutter and Emily have quite the tale to tell. They have an intriguing past history that gives this story an extra layer. Things get quite intense when they team up- and not just on the ‘mission’ side of things. Their chemistry certainly sizzles. These characters are well- crafted into fully realised individuals with their own unique quirks and flaws. Both our MC’s have their own complexities- which adds an extra element of angst, emotion, and interest to the story. Even though I am not a huge fan of the DDLG (middle) genre, it came across well in this story- but I did have trouble connecting with the characters and that was frustrating as that didn’t allow me to fully immerse myself in their ‘world’ or fully invest in them and the overall outcome of their story. But that might just be a ‘me’ issue- so if you love DD/LG and romantic suspense, then you might want to grab a copy of this and make up your own mind. Happy Reading!

The Rocklyns Collection is a boxed set containing seven books in The Rocklyns series by Alicia Street. This is my favourite series by Ms. Street, so far- so having these seven books in one romantic package was a fantastic find, especially as there was no waiting between books- and I got to have a great binge session. Each book in the series could be read as a standalone if you wanted- as the series follows the Rocklyn siblings, with each sibling getting their own book. But trust me, you are going to want to read them all as they are all really wonderful characters. This is a fantastic, well-written, contemporary romance series- with characters who drew me into their story and kept me turning the pages to follow them while their story unfolded. They are all so well developed and complicated individuals with their own unique personalities, quirks, and flaws. They were crafted in such a way that they were entirely realistic, relatable and believable. I was invested in every one of them and the outcome of every story. There’s a lot to keep you engrossed- from second chances, different worlds/opposite attract, secret baby, grumpy/sunshine, forbidden love, finding love unexpectedly, secrets, drama, angst, and the healing power of love- just to name a few. Seven books for the price of one- now that’s a bargain! Master Botosoni is the ninth book in the Masters of the Consulate series by Sylvia Black. It is a captivating dark paranormal romance with an underworld society/vampire mafia, enemies to lovers, rogue vampire faction, shifters, witches, psychics, pure bloods, politics, magic, agendas, fated mates, age gap, danger, drama, high stakes, chemistry, sizzle, emotion, action, loyalty, bonds, mysteriousness, intrigue, tension, emotion, and a centuries-old feud/war. The story is told from a duel POV- which gave me a much richer perspective and added extra depth and interest to my reading experience. This is Master Botosoni and Catina’s story- which grabbed me right from the beginning and held my attention the entire way through. There was no putting the book down, with all the ingredients of a dark, tense romantic suspense- I really had to know what would happen, so I ended up staying up well past my bedtime and read it all in one sitting. #sleepisoverratedright This could be read as a standalone as each book in the series focuses on its own separate character/s, but I highly recommend reading the other books in the series before beginning this one, as there are many interconnected details and recurring characters that span the series- including a bridging background story that’s being built/expanded with each new addition- so I really recommend reading from the beginning, so you know what’s happened right from the start. The best part about this series is that there are 12 books planned…. 9 down, 3 still to come —– which means more sexy vampires on the way! Bring on Book #10 — “Master Oradea” — I can’t wait!!! So get set- things are about to take a dangerous turn. Will Margo manage to survive her ordeal? What secrets will she uncover? This story is well-worth the read to find out. A New Day For Cray is the first book in The Adventures of Cray series by G Pa Rhymes. This is a really cute story that is accompanied by lots of lovely, bright, colourful, interesting, and imagination-capturing illustrations which help to bring the whole story to life. Cray the Crab is a pincher, and a bit of a bully- he learns a valuable lesson on friendship as his adventure unfolds. The story is cute- and told is a rhyming verse that adds an extra element of interest to the whole story. It also has some valuable messages woven into the story, about friendship, kindness, and (anti-)bullying. Easy to read. Fun. Intriguing. Wonderful illustrations. Cute story. Well worth the read. Betrayal of the Gods is the fifth book in the Relic Hunters series by Martin Ferguson. It is a superb young adult adventure- with plenty of action, historical details, Greek mythology, drama, mystery, danger, investigation, intrigue, tension, dynamic characters, a complex plot, and a race against time. I was excited to see this book pop up on my recommended books as I have really enjoyed the rest of the series- so diving into this story was a no-brainer. As I have mentioned many times before, and will probably do again- this series would make a really great movie, TV series, or adventure/RPG game. Mr. Ferguson attention to detail is apparent in his cleverly crafted tales- his world building/storytelling is rich and vividly detailed- making for quite an engrossing read. This action-packed adventure kept me glued to the pages from beginning to end as Adam and Matt are thrust into an epic adventure that will test them like never before. In a race against time, these two are about to face their biggest challenge. What happens makes for a great read. I really recommend this series to anyone who loves YA, adventure, and history. And even though you could read this as a standalone, I highly recommend reading the previous books before starting on this one- as this is definitely a series you won’t want to miss a moment. Elusive Surrender is the third riveting instalment in the Sinful Duets series by Via Mari. This is a fantastic romantic suspense duet that contains two standalone stories- ‘Elusive’ and ‘Tenacious’. As always, I love the way Via Mari weaves her stories with plenty of chemistry, sizzle, danger, secrets, hidden agendas, action, mystery, a whole lot of intrigue, emotion, and so much more. I’m always guaranteed of a unputdownable read when I dive into one of her stories, and that’s certainly the case for this duet too.
Elusive: This is Alexis and Sheldon’s story (whom we have met previously)- where Alexis finds herself in a sticky situation when an international sex trafficker sets his eyes on her and Sheldon is tasked with protecting her. What happens makes for an exciting read.
Tenacious: Here we join Nick and Allie for their story, picking up one month after they met in ‘Elusive’ (Book #5). Nick hasn’t been able to get Allie out of his head. But he is certain that the danger hasn’t passed- she will definitely need to be protected until the threat can be completely eliminated. But that doesn’t necessarily mean she will fall at his feet. Chemistry sizzles and sparks fly!!! I loved Nick and Allie- and I also loved getting answers in the trafficking story that has been running through the series!
I love that we get a duet, two fantastic stories brought together in one book- it really allowed me to sink my tenth into two enticing stories. I love the Billionaire Bodyguards, and this is a great way to immerse yourself in their world. So well woven- Via Mari is known for her superb romantic suspense stories and this book showcases that brilliantly. Again, she easily builds the tension and suspense to an all-time high, then throws in a massive amount of combustible chemistry- all the while balancing the intensity with lighter touching moments and heart-aching emotion. Another riveting read from this talented author! Happy Reading…

Deja Brew All Over Again is the third entertaining book in the Love on Tap series by Sylvie Stewart. I have loved the previous two instalments, so I had pretty high expectations for this third addition, so I am happy to report that Ms. Stewart definitely didn’t disappoint here (does she ever though). This is Miller and Maisy’s story, and we have previously met Miller the first two books, and he hasn’t had an easy run- so I wasn’t sure what to expect- but I LOVED getting to know these two- and this book just might be my new favourite of the series. It’s getting harder to pick a favourite as each new instalment comes out, they just seem to get better and better. This is a superb romcom with a ‘runaway bride’ element that certainly made things interesting right away- the story also has plenty of feels and emotion to balance the fun and humour. The funny quips, banter, one-liners, chemistry, sizzle, family dynamics, drama, small town setting/dynamics, sizzle, and intriguing developments made this an entirely engrossing read. I really recommend this book, and I can’t wait to get my hands on Book #4! Happy Reading!

The Round Box is the second book in the Grandma’s Closet’ series by Lois Wickstrom. It is an interesting, illustrated children’s storybook- with a bit of adventure, a touch of drama, a little whimsy, and plenty of imagination. Grandma has some interesting things stored in the closet. What does Carrie find this time? Carrie opens the FASCINATOR box- and finds a special hat that looks like a boat. What happens makes for a cute read. As with the first book in the series- I loved the cover illustration, but was disappointed to find that the interior illustrations are not of the same type/style. The inner illustrations, although quite whimsical in a naïve style- weren’t quite as ‘interesting’ or appealing to me- and I don’t feel that they draw or hold your attention like the cover picture does. The cover picture made me want to find out what happens and captured my imagination- but the inside pictures were a bit lacking- in my opinion. Good Enough is the first book in The Deadman’s Tribe and debut novel by Nicole Craig. I was immediately hooked by the blurb of this book, not realising that it was the author’s debut novel. I had already let my ‘one-click’ finger loose and snapped up a copy before I realised that this was the author’s first book. That made me even more curious to see what she could do. So I found a comfy spot, coffee in hand, and set off on the ’adventure’. I have to say that I was pleasantly surprised by what I found- engrossed in the story right from the get-go, I wasn’t even halfway through when I decided that I would definitely be keeping a close eye on Ms. Craig and will pounce on anything else she releases. This proved to be a cleverly woven story with a multilayered storyline. Ms. Craig crafted a superb romantic suspense with a protective alpha-type MC, a strong & sassy FMC, a security/military element, with plenty of dramatic developments, twists & turns, chemistry, sparks, connection, danger, violence, tension, intrigue, intensity, mystery, secrets, action, humour, emotion, and more. I loved how well-developed the characters were, and how they were masterfully constructed into fully-realised individuals with their own unique personalities, quirks, and flaws. I loved the cheeky, funny banter, quips, and the team/character’s camaraderie. Getting an alternating, duel POV added depth and intrigue to the story, and I loved being privy to the characters inner dialogue- it really added an extra element of interest to the whole story. This first book has definitely given me a taste for more, and I can’t wait to find out more about the tribe as the series progresses. If you love protective alpha-types, a military/security team vibe, romantic suspense with an engrossing storyline, chemistry, and sparks- then you will definitely want to grab a copy of this to explore… Bring on ‘Bad Enough’ (Book #2 – which is TB’s story). The Scent of Snow (The Winemakers Series) by Giovanna Siniscalchi is a wonderful historical women’s fiction story – with Christmas wishes, a grumpy/sunshine factor, age gap, sweet & tender touches, spicy scenes, romance, emotion, quirky & complex characters, humour, mysteriousness, and enough drama, challenges, and angst to keep things interesting. As this follows Anne and Pedro, adding to their story that we read in Book #2- “The Taste of Light” (Book #2 in the series), I highly recommend reading that book before starting on this one as the whole story foundation, character information, backstory, and other important details are found there. Having all that information on board will definitely enhance your reading experience of this story. The whole series is definitely worth reading. Having met Anne and Pedro before and loving their story, I was excited to see what this novella would hold. Set in Portugal in 1874, we join Anne and Pedro during Christmas. With all the romantic touches I have come to expect from Ms. Siniscalchi, as well as a sprinkle of Christmas magic, and some mysteriousness- she had me flipping the pages to find out what happens. These two have a few ‘bumps’ to traverse- and will Anne get her Christmas wish? Well worth the read to find out. This is the last book in The Winemakers Series- which would have been sad, except Ms. Siniscalchi has promised a spin-off series, which soothed the sting of this being the finale. I can’t wait to see where we go from here, and what Ms. Siniscalchi has in store for us in the new series…. bring it on! Happy Reading…

The Human Mating Site Box Set 1 is a 4-book box set which contains the first four books in The Human Mating Site series by B.L. Wilde. Mr Wimp (Book #1), Mr. Smooth (Book #2), Mr. Player (Book #3), and Mr. Kinky (Book #4)- are the first four books in this thirteen-book series which follows Bella as she plunges back into the dating pool after being married for twelve years. Her ‘adventures’ make for fun reading- sprinkled with all the sexy antics that come with dating, emotion, drama, interesting characters, and more. Bella has been blindsided by a cheating husband (Mr. Wimp)- with twelve years of marriage down the drain. She’s ‘back on the market’ but feels quite lost – so she sets out on a journey to re-discover (find) the ‘woman’ she was before, who was lost and overlooked during her years of marriage. Things get a little messy, angsty, spicy, and fun- as we plunge into the dating pool alongside Bella as she enjoys a few Mr. Right(now). I love Liam (Mr. Smooth) and also Jensen (Mr. Kinky)….. I am rooting for Liam at this point though. I would love to read longer versions of these stories as they remind me a little of ‘The Calendar Girl’ series by Audrey Carlan, and the ‘Rebel and a Saint’ series by Kitty Kendall. These are all very short, novella-length stories, with a new instalment set to release every month as we follow Bella along on The Human Mating Game. Mr. Heartless is next (Book #5) – can’t wait! Kingdom of 7 Sovereigns – Wolf is the first book in the Kingdom of 7 Sovereigns series by R.C. Reigh. This is the first book that I have read by this author, so I really didn’t know what to expect from their work- but I adore a great fantasy, and the cover and blurb promised great things- so I took a chance and dove right in. I discovered a fantastic YA fantasy story woven with adventure, action, magic, romance, mystery, suspense, drama, angst, a quest, fate/destiny, shifters (wolves), Fae, dragons, tension, friendship, family, high stakes, agendas, plots/ploys, nothing is as it seems, betrayal, and lots of intriguing developments. This is Dane and Amelia’s story primarily- which sets the foundations of the series, but also gives us multiple POVs of the other ‘main’ cast- which gives us a broader perspective and more to ponder as the story unfolds. There is definitely more at play here, and there is more going on than first meets the eye — so I can’t wait to see what the rest of the series holds. Kingdom of 7 Sovereigns – Dragon (Book #2 – Dax’s story) is next – and things are set to be great. Happy Reading…

Shifter Shorts by T.K. Lawyer is a bit of a nibble platter of bite-sized morsels of tempting tasty treats. Having read and enjoyed several of Ms. Lawyer’s stories in the past few years, I thought I knew what to expect… but she surprised me (in a good way). This is a collection of six short paranormal romance stories bundled into one. The collection of stories are all shifter romance and range from friends to lovers, to darker more dangerous tones, sprinkled with some sweetness, a little sexiness, some spice, a touch of creepy tension, intriguing developments, gargoyles, wolves, cats, sharks, and hellhounds- just to name a few. ‘Gargoyle Mine’ was definitely my favourite- but I was surprised by the shark shifter story- ‘Haven’ as I had not read another shark-shifter story before, and wasn’t sure I would like it- but Ms. Lawyer has given me a taste for something new. While I did enjoy the collection, I felt like I wanted more. There were times I felt like the story was rushed, or abrupt. I think these stories are ones I would like to read longer, meatier versions of- as there are a lot of intriguing possibilities here. Looking forward to seeing what Ms. Lawyer does next. A Heart So Savage is the second book (and conclusion to) The Savage Duet by April Moran. As this continues on from where Book One left off, I highly suggest reading ‘A King So Savage’ before starting on this one as otherwise you will be missing important storyline information, as well as character introductions and other relevant details that you will need to know in order to fully appreciate this second book, and the duet as a whole. It is another gripping dark romance that captured my attention right from the very first page. Full of angsty drama, chemistry, steam, emotion, secrets, danger, debts, abduction/captive, family dynamics, agendas, tension, intrigue, and so much more. As we discovered in book #1, when the King is owed money- he will ensure that the debt will be paid, one way or another. Unfortunately for Ava, her brother owed King, big time. And when he doesn’t pay up – she is held accountable. Either her brother pays, or she will. No one messes with the King. Things get more complicated as their chemistry ignites. With other agendas in play, the story took quite a tense turn and as things unfold here- I was reading as quick as I could, flipping pages, just to find out what happens. There were intense, gripping moments, and some frustrating moments where I wanted to shake someone, as well as times when the screen of my Kindle steamed up from all the heat coming off the pages. And I was completely invested, through it all. Definitely worth the read! Intense. Steamy. Dark. Delicious. Can’t wait to see what Ms. Moran does next- it’s bound to be great! Happy Reading…

Song of Earth and Claws by Lena Abram is a high-fantasy adventure with Fae, complex world-building, drama, danger, agendas, family dynamics, challenges, and more. This is the first book that I have read by Ms. Abram, so I really didn’t know what to expect from one of her books- but as fantasy is one of my absolute favourite genres, and the blurb sounded quite promising, I one-clicked myself a copy and dove right in. I have to be honest here, there is a LOT of information and details in this story, and the start proved to be quite slow and somewhat confusing. The story jumps right into aspects of the ‘Game’, but nothing (about the Game) is really explained enough to know how it works and what’s going on… I felt like I was starting a book in the ‘middle’ and was missing a lot of details. The flow was also slow and a bit choppy, which added another challenge to my reading experience. These issues did improve as the story unfolded, but I still struggled to stay in the ‘groove’ or invest in the character/s and the story. There were quite a few frustrating moments for me and quite a few characters that I detested or wanted to kick/shake. The underlying story had so much more potential, which for me, it just didn’t quite reach. I have been on a bit of a dark fantasy binge lately, along with some gritty thrillers thrown into the mix- so I’m really not sure if that has coloured my opinion of this book, or not. Taking that into account, I have decided to revisit it again in a few weeks to see if I still feel the same way about it- or if my opinion will change. So, stay tuned. But don’t let my opinion put you off reading this book, because looking at other reviews, I seem to be the only one with any issues. So, if this book interests you at all, I suggest you grab a copy and decide for yourself. Happy Reading…
