The Alien & the Crime Boss by Naomi Valkyrie is a really well-woven sci-fi MM mafia romance – with aliens, action, adventure, danger, high stakes, suspense, agendas, fated mates, emotion, tension, and much more. Leilphun escapes his home world and arrives on earth and into a situation he never anticipated. Kasper Kingston has a plan and can’t afford any distractions or mistakes- but fate has its own agenda. I loved this story so much. Loved the characters, the world-building, and other clever touches, and although this is a short story, it has the impact of a much longer novel. Definitely one of my favourites of this collection. Can always count on Ms. Valkyrie for an original and captivating read. Can’t wait to see what Ms. Valkyrie has in store for us next. Happy Reading…

Sweet Dreams By Claire is the second book in the Capture the Light series by Nanette Littlestone. This is the first book that I have read by this author, so I really wasn’t sure of what to expect from her writing- but do I love a sweet romance, and this promised to deliver that- so I one-clicked a copy and set off to explore. This is a touching romance with magical realism, a little drama, family dynamics, baking, intriguing characters, emotion, a small-town setting, a mysterious antique brooch, feelgood moments, tender touches, sweet developments, and delightful details – which is all set against the picturesque backdrop of the Emerald Isle. I loved meeting Claire and following along on her journey of discovery- self-discovery, discovering love, and more. Finn is such a great character- he’s arrived for his sister’s wedding, and the connection between him and Claire made the story quite romantic. They do have their challenges though- which the author cleverly wove into the story- adding a touch of drama and adding even more interest. I will definitely be going back to read Book #1 (For the Love of Brigid) and finding out what happened there (it’s Brigid’s wedding in this book that brings Claire and Finn together) before continuing with the rest of this series. This is a fantastic romantic suspense that’s full of danger, sex trafficking, secrets, hidden agendas, action, mystery, a whole lot of sizzle, intrigue, and so much more. Via Mari is known for her superb romantic suspense stories and this book showcases her talents beautifully. She easily builds gripping suspense, intrigue, palpable tension, and sizzling chemistry- while balancing it all with lighter moments and believable emotion. Auctioned: Damian has been hired to find the missing niece of Jenny Torzial, whom we first met in the ‘Prestian’ series as secondary character, and then in her own series ‘The Torzial Affair’. Recipe For Revenge is the second book in the April May Cozy Mystery series by Hazel Smith. This proved to be an interesting and fun cozy murder mystery- a whodunnit with quirky characters, drama, intrigue, a little suspense, a plot for revenge, crime and investigation, secrets, a journey of discovery, a race against time, high stakes, tension, and intrigue – which made for a light-hearted and entertaining read. April is a reporter who is new to town. Here she is drawn into a murder mystery with some puzzling developments. Along with her dog, Ralph, she sets about digging up clues, uncovering secrets, and revealing the truth. With the stakes being quite high, April is in a race against time to solve the investigation before it’s too late. What happens makes for an intriguing read. The Uncrowned King is the second book in The Blood Prince Trilogy by Ayla Marie. This follows on from the first book, so I highly recommend reading The Blood Prince before starting on this instalment. There is a lot of important information, character details, and backstory contained there that you will want to know in order to fully appreciate this book. It is another engrossing YA story which had me intrigued and invested in- right from the get-go. The story is an action-packed adventure with danger, dramatic developments, twists, powers, agendas, and much more. A really well-woven story with superb world-building and interesting characters. Seraphina is the fourth book in the Heartstrings series by Brooke May. Even though this is the fourth book in the series, you don’t have to have read the first three books in order to enjoy this one. Each book in the series focuses on one of ‘Cupid’s’ chosen ones- we follow as a member of his team helps humans find love. But, in saying that, each book is a great read in its own right, and reading the entire series helps to build a better understanding and appreciation of the stories. We have met Seraphina in the previous books, and to be quite honest from those ‘interactions’, I really wasn’t sure I was going to ‘like’ her enough to enjoy this story or be able to ‘invest’ in it. But I need not have worried as Ms. May ensured that she won me over- as did Seth and Marron- Seraphina’s assignment. I love how Ms. May has crafted such wonderfully quirky characters who each have their own unique personalities, quirks, and flaws. Seraphina was so much more than she first appears- which made this story all the more fun to follow. This is a fairly light-hearted and fun paranormal romance with cupids, drama, chemistry, connection, redemption, and emotion. Will Seraphina succeed in finding a love match for a scandal riddled hockey player? You really should read all the engrossing developments for yourself. Looking forward to Book #5!

Tropic Heat (Flamingo Island Series) is a really fun read by C.A. King. It has the feel of a romcom with a funny, sweet, feel-good, and engaging story about a jilted groom, a nonrefundable honeymoon, his best friend, and holiday hijinks. This is a novella-length book that can be easily devoured in one fun sitting. It is a very entertaining story, and although it may be short in pages it delivers the ‘reading experience’ of a much longer novel. I have said this many times before and am likely to keep repeating it again many more times; I am a big fan of Ms. Kings work and have enjoyed all her stories immensely- so it was no great surprise that this book was a winning recipe for me as well. This definitely has all the ingredients you could want from an entertaining contemporary romantic comedy about love, loss, deception, con artists, cops, revelations, a touch of fate, finding that some things weren’t meant to be, and finding love unexpectedly. It’s a cute story about doggy adventures with their human companions. It’s an intriguing story with some educational touches, a journey of discovery, activities, sports, and more. It is accompanied by charming, bright, colourful, and interesting illustrations which help to bring the whole thing to life. This is a fun, quick, and easy read that has also has a great rhyming rhythm, a bit of a lyrical feel, that will help the readers to connect with the story and messages. Happy Reading…

A King So Savage is the first book in The Savage Duet by April Moran. It is a gripping dark romance that not only captured our fmc- but definitely captured my attention right from the very first page. Full of angsty drama, chemistry, steam, emotion, secrets, danger, debts, abduction/captive, family dynamics, agendas, tension, intrigue, and much more. When the King is owed money- the debt will be paid, one way or another. Unfortunately for Ava, her brother owes King, big time. And when he doesn’t pay up – she is held accountable. Either her brother pays, or she will. No one messes with the King. Things get more complicated as their chemistry ignites. With other agendas in play, the story takes a tense turn. The story is set to continue in Book #2, so I can’t wait to dive in and discover how everything plays out. Definitely worth the read! Intense. Steamy. Dark. Delicious. Bring on Book #2! Carrie’s Flight is the first book in the Grandma’s Closet’ series by Lois Wickstrom. It is an interesting story, with a bit of adventure, a touch of drama, and imagination. Grandma has some interesting things stored in her closet. What does Carrie find? I loved the cover illustration, but was a bit disappointed to find that the ‘inside’ illustrations are not the same type/style. The inner illustrations, although whimsical- don’t draw or hold your attention like the cover picture does. The cover picture made me want to find out what happens- but the others were a bit lacking- in my opinion. A cute story though. Hidden Scars is the first book in the Jade series by A. Akinosho. This is the first instalment in Naseer and Jade’s story- where two damaged souls find a connection that changes both their lives. With a bit of a forbidden element, an age gap, grumpy/sunshine factor, grief, drama, angst, different worlds/opposites attract, family/family complications/meddling, insecurities, jealousy, tension, pain/baggage, darker tones, secrets, and challenges. This had all the ingredients that I normally look for to drag me into a story and hold me in its grasp- but I just couldn’t find my ‘groove’ with this one. I also found it really hard to connect with the characters, which made it hard to immerse myself in their story, or invest in them and the outcome. I found myself really annoyed and frustrated with them, and myself- a lot. There seemed to be quite a lot of info dumping/repetition and niggly vibes that kept interrupting the flow of the story- continually pulling me out of the storyline. I have enjoyed Ms. Akinosho’s writing in the past, so maybe I was just having an ‘off’reading session this time around. The story ends on a cliffhanger, and is set to continue in Book #2- so I am hoping that things will fall into place for me there. Happy Reading…

The Magic Man is the third book in The Olympic Peninsula series by Cat Treadgold. It is another well-woven contemporary romance with interesting characters, family dynamics, emotion, drama, angst, complications, a bit of a love triangle element, interconnected characters, intrigue, and more. Here we meet David O’Connell who has arrived for his sister Teresa’s wedding (Teresa & Liam’s story ->’The Guardsman’ Book #2). His family notice that he isn’t the man he used to be- what is he hiding? What happened to him to make him so serious, subdued, and secretive? As the story unfolds the intrigue mounts, and when revelations are made, the story doesn’t let go. As with the first two instalments, Ms. Treadgold has woven a great story with complex characters, interesting developments, tension, and emotional touches- which made it really easy to connect with the characters, and completely invest in their story (but, that’s not to say there weren’t a few frustrating moments with them along the way). Alien Redemption by Gloria Oliver is a great, twisty, sci-fi adventure story with plenty of suspense, tension, drama, action, secrets, mystery, agendas/plots, high stakes, blackmail, betrayal, intrigue, emotion, discovery, challenges, space travel, new beginnings, and aliens. I was pulled into the story right from the beginning- reading the book in one sitting as I really needed to know how things would play out. There were twisty moments where I wasn’t sure where the story was headed, but in a great way- it had me avidly reading to find out what would happen next. I was invested in Claudia (‘Z’) right from the get-go, I really felt for her and the circumstances she found herself in- and was rooting for her the whole way through (and her new ‘friends’). Some of the characters made me angry- Captain Bennet in particular, and spent a considerable amount of time plotting Claudia’s revenge along the way. All in all- this turned out to be an intriguing and engrossing sci-fi story… Looking forward to whatever Ms. Oliver does next- hopefully more of ‘The Discoveries of Julia Xero’ series- but I know whatever she does will make for a fantastic read! Triple Threat at Amberwood is the fourth book in the Amberwood Hall Ballet School Adventures series by Eleanor Dixon. This book continues the ghostly adventures of Lauren (and Grace) at Amberwood Hall ballet school, whom we have met, and followed, from Book #1. This is another intriguing paranormal children’s story (missile school- ages 7 to 13) with ghosts, mystery, friendship, fun, drama, unexplained and troubling happenings, adventure, mischief/hijinks, high stakes, ticking clock, loyalty vs commitment, and a touch of the paranormal. Triple Trouble at Amberwood could be read as a standalone, but I recommend reading right from the beginning to fully appreciate the story and characters. I have been enjoying following along on this charming adventure series since the beginning, and think was this is another great instalment to the Amberwood collection. To Catch an Elf appears to be the first book in a new series- Pennsylvania Fighter Pilot– by Debra Parmley. It is a romantic suspense with drama, challenges, a creepy factor, stalking, sinister intents, agendas, secrets, dramatic developments, K9 companions, an antique elf with a story to tell, abduction, connection, and more. This is Marcie Hayes and Ted Barrett’s story. Marcie has been hired to house sit, to look after a dog and document the activities of a strange elf for her employers to enter a Christmas competition. What happens when strange things start happening? Ted Barrett has a neighbouring home that he is looking forward to spending the holidays in for the first time. He and Macie seem to connect, but then she disappears while he is away for a family wedding. What happened? Things are not all as they seem. I think Ted is the twin brother of Jack from ‘Montana Marine’ – which is one of the Brotherhood Protector series stories. If so, in a way, this book/series could be a bit of a spin-off to that. In ‘Montana Marine’ though, Jack’s last name is Barr- not Barrett. So that made me a little confused. But all the other factors fit, like his fiancé being Lucy, the same as Ted’s brother’s fiancé in this book…. So, I think I am right about them being twins and the connection. Happy Reading!

Mission Improbable: Vietnam is the third book in the Blanche Murninghan Mystery series by Nancy Nau Sullivan. I didn’t realise going into this book that it was the third book in a series. I loved the bright, interesting cover and clicked a copy before I noticed it was well into the series. Luckily, it can be read as a standalone without feeling like you are missing anything- but having said that, I am intrigued enough to want to find out what happened in the first two books- so I will definitely be going back to explore them too, soon. This is a mystery with interesting character who set off on a quest to discover the truth- and end up on a bit of a journey of self-discovery, dredging up the ghosts of the past along the way. With travel, amateur sleuthing/investigation, history, family, discovery, challenges, adventure, and some emotion- this story made for an intriguing read. Set against the sights and sounds of Vietnam, added an extra layer of interest to the overall storyline. Another great read from this talented author. Happy reading…
Lela’s Choice by Jennifer Raines is another wonderful contemporary romance that had me invested right from the beginning. With drama, angst, family, chemistry, forced proximity, intrigue, investigation, emotion, and taking a chance on love. Lela is determined to find her missing niece, travelling from Australia to Malta to begin her investigation. Hamish McGregor has been hired by the missing girl’s grandfather to find his granddaughter. Lela sees Hamish as the enemy- but they are forced to work together if they have any hope of finding the girl. And so the adventure begins… Another great read from this talented author. Woot! Colour me happy when I saw that this book had released. After LOVING the first book so much- I was really excited to be able to dive into this one. Dreamscape is the second engrossing book in the J.J Morris Mysteries Series by J.N Sheats. It is a fantastic YA paranormal suspense with supernatural elements, mystery, intrigue, tension, twists & turns, dramatic developments, complex characters, layers, sinister forces, action, adventure, wonderful world-building, agendas, dreamscapes, danger, gripping scenes, and so much more. After loving the first book so very much, I had really high expectations for this instalment- and Ms. Sheats didn’t disappoint. This is a brilliant addition to the series- and another wonderfully imaginative and skilfully written piece of work with a complex and exciting storyline. This is a very rich and vividly detailed story that has a fast pace and a smooth flow. As with the first book, this follows Joey Morris’s adventures after discovering the paranormal world. She’s now in college, trying hard to find ‘normal’- but after the events in high school, she’s not so sure that’s possible anymore. Having a whole new world opened up to her has left its mark. And when strange things start happening, with people going missing, and a spate of fires breaking out- things take a bit of a sinister turn. If you haven’t read ‘Lineage’ (Book #1) yet, I highly recommend that you do before diving into this one, as the first book is not only a fantastic read in its own right- but it also lays the groundwork and contains important information that will enhance your appreciation of this story, too. The story continues in the next book ‘Banshee’- so I really can’t wait to dive into Book #3 ASAP. Another riveting read! Happy Reading…

Children of the Wild is the first book in the Children of the Wild series by Krysta Tawlks. This is the first book that I have read by Ms. Tawlks, so I really didn’t know what to expect going into the story. But Ido love a great YA fantasy, so I happily jumped in and set off on the adventure. This is an easy story to read- it is fairly light-hearted- offering a tale of self-discovery, magic, family, friendship, adventure, secrets, facing your fear, emotion, overcoming obstacles, a quest for the truth, mystery, dealing with self-doubts, finding your true purpose, and some dramatic developments. I thought this was a charming read, and I will certainly be keeping an eye out for more from Ms. Tawlks in the future. Happy Reading…

–Christmas Trappings By: Kendra Hatch Christmas Trappings is a fun Sci-fi story with plenty of hijinks, family, aliens, humour, capers, the joys of the holiday season, and more. What happens when alien ‘friends’ take it upon themselves to save their human family from the ‘dreaded’ Santa Claus. Alex has his work cut out for him if he has any chance of salvaging Christmas for his family.
–The Winter Queen (A Court of the Yuletide Fae Prequel) By: Cassandra Chandler OMG- this is such a sweet story. Giving a new perspective on the Winter Queen folktales. We get pulled into Kris Kringle and the Winter Queen’s story- and I was entirely captivated the whole way through. I didn’t want it to end. So, I was excited to see that it is part of a series which I will definitely be diving into asap. The Winter Queen is the prequel to A Court of the Yuletide series. It is a sweet paranormal romance with a completely charming storyline that you won’t want to miss!
–Retired, but not Forgotten (A Madison Law Prequel) By: Natalie Palma Retired, but not Forgotten is the prequel to the Madison Law series. It is a fantastic cozy mystery, with some edgy/darker tones that made the story even more intriguing. Madison is a medically retired police detective turned PI, who gets pulled into a missing persons case that leads to more than she bargained for. With drama, danger, tension and more- this story packs a lot into a small space. I have not read any of Ms. Palma’s stories before, so I was excited to dive into this short story and get a taste of what she can do. I love that this was a mystery- and really loved meeting Madison Law. I can’t wait to continue the series and see what else she gets up to. One of my favourites from this collection.
Sunshine’s War By: Jill Wallace This is an historical romance set during WWII. We go on a journey of finding love unexpectedly in the most challenging of situations, promises made, hope, and emotion. Will the promises made during harrowing times be kept- or are they just words spoken in the heat of the moment?
Wicked Beginnings By: Stephanie Harrell Another of my favourites of this series. This is a fantastic contemporary romance with an age gap, boss/employee attraction, chemistry, secret desires, a Christmas party, revelations, a grumpy/sunshine factor, a plus size FMC, tension, drama, and interesting characters. It is told from a duel POV, which gives the story an extra element of interest- as we get to see things playing out from both the MC’s perspectives. Highly recommended.
–Magical Mayhem (Boogie Beach and The Record Series Prequel) By: Winnie Winkle This is the prequel to Boogie Beach and The Record series and is a very entertaining urban fantasy. Set during Halloween this story brings magic, shenanigans, spice, humour, fun, paranormal beings, and so much more. Cleopatra O’Keefe is forced to work on the night of her 21st birthday- which she isn’t too happy about. But add in the fact that her cocktail mixing skills have got to be on point, and serving the magical community attendees, puts extra pressure on Cleopatra to not mess things up. Being a Keeper means she has responsibilities she can’t ignore. What is a keeper? Does she manage to not mess things up? How Does the night turn out? You really should read all the fun details for yourself. “Halloween is coming up, Patra. This year, it’s falling on a full moon which means a night of absolute insanity. Either the holiday or the moon are already crazy; stick them together and it’s an epic mashup of magical mayhem. I need help, so starting immediately, you’re training on the magic side. Be prepared to recite cocktail recipes, hazards, and cleanup procedures at the drop of a hat. Screw up and you might die. So don’t.” “Billy! That’s my twenty-first birthday! My real one, I mean. –Seshka’s Gift (Mageguild Academy Prequel) By: Eliza Sinclair This is the prequel to the Mageguild Academy series, which I will definitely be exploring after reading this engrossing morsel. Seshka and Rexi set off on a tour of the city. But what should have been an easy exercise takes a dangerous turn, thrusting the pair into a high-stakes adventure. This is a great little fantasy with magic, mages, a battle for survival, being put to the test, intrigue, and more.
–Searching for Thanksgiving (A Dragonlings of Valdier Novella) By: S.E. Smith This charming fantasy has all the ingredients needed to keep me flipping the pages to find out how everything plays out. -Fantasy -Dragonlings _Adventure -A quest to find Thanksgiving -Shifters -A little drama -A sprinkle of mystery -A touch of mayhem -A pinch of the unexpected All combined to make a fun read.
All the stories are so engaging, with wonderfully written plots, and well-developed characters. I have read books by several of these talented authors before- but most of the authors were new to me… so I was excited to not only read the contributions by the authors I knew and loved, but also to get an introduction to the authors who are new to me. Whispered Surrender is the first book in the Sinful Duets series by Via Mari. This is a fantastic romantic suspense duet that contains two standalone stories- ‘Wayward’ and ‘Undercover’. I love the way Via Mari weaves her stories with plenty of chemistry, sizzle, danger, secrets, hidden agendas, action, mystery, a whole lot of intrigue, emotion, and so much more. I’m always guaranteed of a unputdownable read when I dive into one of her stories, and that’s certainly the case for this book too. I love that we get a duet, two fantastic stories together in one book- it really allowed me to sink my tenth into some ‘meaty’ stories. I love the Billionaire Bodyguards, and this is a great way to immerse yourself in their world. Via Mari is one of my ‘go-to’ authors, and her superb romantic suspense stories come with gripping suspense, intrigue, palpable tension, and sizzling chemistry- while balancing everything with believable emotion. A Christmas Amish Courtship is the third book in the Amish Courtship series by Jennifer Spredemann. This is the first book that I have read by Ms. Spredemann, so I really didn’t know what to expect from one of her stories. But I do love a great Christmas story, and this looked like it would bring something a little different to the table, so I took a chance and jumped in. What I discovered is a really sweet Christmas romance woven with faith, emotion, heartwarming touches, forgiveness, family, community, God’s plan, and finding love unexpectedly. Anne and Andy have both been spurned by love. But can some anonymous love letter’s help bring these two the love they have been searching for? What happens? This makes for a charming read to find out… If you love faith-filled romance, with a sweet connection, Christmas settings, emotion, and heartwarming developments- then this is definitely the book for you. Wicked Ends is Book #8 (but the 10th instalment) in the Hidden Valley Elite series by Isla Vaughn. Not going to lie – this was a bit of a bittersweet read for me as I really needed to know how Shane and Winter’s story turned out – but I also knew that this was not only the conclusion to their story, but to the series too……and I’m not ready to say goodbye! But what a great way to round out the series! Gah, this series has been one heck of a ride, and I’ve loved every minute! Each instalment just seemed to get better and better as we went along. It is incredibly hard to choose a favourite out of them all. But I really wish there were more to come still…. As with the other books in the series, this is a New Adult, enemies-to-lovers “bully” romance with plenty of chemistry, sizzle, angsty drama, love, hate, passion, emotion, tension, intrigue, suspense, revelations, family dynamics, and a little mystery. As we previously discovered- The ‘Elites’ are brothers Cole and Damon and their cousins, twin brothers Phoenix and Shane. Each of the elites get their own book/s – and this one (Book #8) is the engrossing conclusion to Shane and Winter’s story. And OMG Ms. Vaughn has made them jump through hoops to find their HEA- or do they? I’m not going to tell. Again, as with the other instalments, this is not a light and fluffy read- as there is a lot of darker content, which I won’t go into because I don’t want to spoil anything for you. But highly suggest checking the content warnings before diving in, because there are some disturbing/unsettling details contained in the book/series. So keep that in mind, especially if you have any triggers. Yes- I was expecting it, and Ms. Vaughn certainly delivered- but pretty sure she enjoyed toying with my anxiety and playing with my emotions the whole way through the book and series! And I would happily turn around and do it all over again. I am excited to see what Ms. Vaughn might do next! Happy Reading…

Master of the Abyss is the third and final book in the Painted Souls Series by Rob Samborn. It follows up from The Prisoner of Paradise (Book #1) and Painter of the Damned (Book #2)- so if you are yet to read the first two books, then I highly recommend that you do so before diving into this final instalment. This is a continuation of the story and there has been a lot that has happened previously that you will want to know going into this book. There is a lot of important storyline details, character information, interconnected elements/threads, and intriguing backstory that you need to know in order to get the ultimate reading experience from this book. Julia O’Connor (and friends) has her work cut out for her here- as she is thrust into a quest to not only to save her husband and the multitude of souls trapped in eternal torment, but turns out that she’ll need to save the world from a psychotic religious fanatic bent on utter domination, as well. What happens makes for a page-turning read. Although I didn’t want this series to end, because it has been such a great read- this conclusion to the series is everything I could have hoped for, and more. Mr. Samborn didn’t rest on his laurels, and yet again, upped the ante to bring us another well-written, multi-layered, gripping, and incredibly ‘visual’ story. With plenty of dramatic developments, tension, action, danger, supernatural/paranormal elements, a high stakes quest, an ancient relic, suspense, twists, intensity, adventure, intrigue, historical details, agendas, complexity, layers, mysteriousness, an ancient journal, and so much more – made for a very gripping historical thriller. This was edge of your seat reading at its best- OMG I devoured this book in one sitting as I had to know how everything played out in the end. And as expected from Mr. Samborn- the tension mounts to an all-time high- making for a quite a riveting read. The Painted Souls series would definitely make a fantastic movie, or epic television series! I am eager to see what Mr. Sanborn has up his sleeve for us next. Happy Reading…

Hope For A New World is the first book in The Hope Series (Gaia’s Voice Series) by Renee W. Peek. This is the first book that I have read by Ms. Peek, so I really didn’t know what to expect from one of her stories. But the cover intrigued me, and the blurb sounded interesting- so I set off to explore. What I discovered is an original story with quite a lot going on. There are multiple characters, and multiple POVs too, which expands the story considerably. It is a Sci-fi fantasy, with a bit of a ‘message’ about the world/environment, and our part in it all. From environmental messages to telepathic messengers, new-age type beliefs, giving the planet/s a ‘voice’, tension, challenges, drama, and hope – this story takes place in a futuristic setting (2133 -2138)- so over a hundred years into the future. Whilst I did appreciate the story and messages it contained, I found it difficult to connect fully with some of the characters which made it hard to fully invest in them and the outcome of the story. Some of the characters were very ‘fleshed out’ while others not so much, even though they were part of the ‘main cast’. I really wanted to know more about them, I guess. Some of the dialogue seemed a little stilted and curt/blunt, which made for choppy/clunky interactions. Also, some of the transitions were abrupt, making for a rough flow at times, and adding a little confusion (for me), which kept pulling me out of the flow. But the overall story was intriguing, and I really liked the premise. Don’t let my opinion put you off grabbing a copy and diving in, as looking at the other reviews, I seem to be the only one with any concerns at all – so this is probably a ‘me issue’. Snap up a copy and make up your own mind. I am curious to see where the series goes from here, so will explore the other books to find out. Happy reading…

Shadowed Agenda is the second book in the Shadow Defense Security series by Mavery Ellscott. It is another engrossing romantic suspense to follow on from Shadowed Obsession, the first book in SDS. This series is made up of standalone stories, each one focusing on a different operative of the Shadow Defense Security team. This time we get Pavlov Barislov’s story. We met him in Book #1 and I was immediately intrigued by the former Navy SEAL turned security operative who is also an author of thrilling novels. So I was excited to be able to get to know him better here. And WOW, what a story we got. Ms. Ellscott certainly put her characters to the test, and delivered a gripping read along the way. As I mentioned above, this is a romantic suspense, but it also has a bit of an enemies to lovers dynamic, danger, dramatic developments, tension, chemistry, agendas, action, and mystery – all the ingredients needed to keep me invested the whole way through. Renewed is the sixth book in the Fateful Justice series by Sara Vinduska. I think the cover of this book threw me off a little, as it gave me the impression of a sweet, Hallmark-esque romance- which would have been great – but what it delivered was so much more. And I mean that as a good thing. I probably should have read the blurb, but sometimes I just like to choose by the cover and see if the story meets my expectations. It is an engrossing romantic suspense with a bit of a forced proximity element, sexy cowboy, drama, adventure, intrigue, a little mystery, secrets, action, and tension. Ruby has left city life hoping for a fresh start away from her past. But things don’t live up to expectation when she ends up saving a sexy cowboy who’s bleeding out from a gunshot wound. Yeah, so much for the quiet county life. Things heat up pretty quickly, but when her past comes back to haunt her, Hayden steps in to help her. What happens? Here Ms. Williams shows us how a disabled young woman and a banished knight come together to save the kingdom, becoming heroes, finding redemption, and finding themselves along the way. It’s a bit of a dark fantasy adventure with magic, challenges, a curse, emotion, good vs evil, an epic quest, high stakes, friendship, redemption, courage, and hope.
