The Victor is the first book in The Freemasons series by Nicole Flockton. It is a moving second chance contemporary romance with a forced proximity element, past history, heartache, buried feelings, a marriage on the rocks, angst, push-pull, angst, miscommunication, separation, secrets, and how true love really can overcome anything. This is a wonderful start to what looks to be a superb series. I can’t wait to jump into the second book asap, and the best news is the whole series is available to read NOW- happy dance. No waiting…. WOOT!!! It appears that each book in the series will focus on a different couple, but with a recurring cast. Meaning four books, from what I can tell…. And did I mention our four leading men are Freemasons- which adds an extra layer of intrigue and mystique to the whole shebang. Cole and Ava have been separated for the past 6 month. She wants a divorce, but he intends to win her back. Will he succeed, or is this really the end? Will Cole be willing to do what it takes to prove his love and commitment to Ava? And most importantly, will Ava even consider giving him a chance to try to rekindle their love- or is it all a case of ‘too little-too late? The story is definitely worth the read to find out. The Second View is Book #2 in The View Trilogy by Leon Stevens. It follows on from The View From Here (Book #1) and we pick up with Thomas and April as they set out on another adventure, exploring the world they discovered in Book One. They think they are prepared – but things don’t always go according to plan. This is a fantastic second instalment in this highly original and interesting sci-fi adventure series. With fantastic detailing and descriptions- Mr. Stevens easily brought his characters and ‘world’ to life, keeping me immersed in the story all the way through to the end. As I mentioned previously, I can see it making a great movie, or TV series. Bring on Book #3! Happy reading.

An Inheritance to Die For is the fourth book in the Cozy Mysteries To Die For series by Judy Moore. As I have mentioned before, I really love a great cozy mystery, and Ms. Moore doesn’t disappoint with intriguing storylines, murder, crime & investigation, drama, suspense, danger, intrigue, family, friendship, and interesting, quirky characters. This story is very well developed and well-woven- with lots of clever touches that kept me turning the pages to find out what was going to happen and how everything would be tied up at the end. And as with the other books in the series, Ms. Moore cleverly built the suspense and tension- holding my attention the whole way through the story. We follow Beck to Miami, as she endeavors to help her college roommate figure out a suspicious suicide that leaves millions of dollars at stake. What happens makes for a great read. Looking forward to Book #5!

The Serpent Awakens by Luna Saint Claire is the companion book to The Sleeping Serpent. It is from Nico’s perspective- so it made for quite and intriguing read considering what happened in The Sleeping Serpent, and Nico’s part in that story. This is psychological fiction done well- with plenty of creative touches to keep things interesting and flowing smoothly. There is a story of struggle, challenges, spiritual renewal, secrets, a search for meaning/belonging, longing, new age/spiritual/universal ideas/truths, surrender, hope, and more. In The Sleeping Serpent, Nico was bad news, but even so you couldn’t help but feel drawn to him and see his appeal, even as everything unfolded. So, it was interesting to see him stripped bare here- and then follow him as he struggles to find his way. Again, as with the first book- this was quite thought-provoking- and isn’t a story I will soon forget. Another intriguing read from Ms. Saint Claire. Looking forward to seeing what she does next! The Intruders by Brett McKay is a bit of a gripping supernatural thriller. This is my first book from Mr. McKay so I was excited to see what he could do. I was immediately pulled into the story, avidly reading along to find out how things played out in the end. I was so engrossed that I ended up reading the whole book in one sitting. I didn’t need sleep. I needed answers lol. Dex Sanders is a down on his luck husband and father. Scraping by as a car salesman just to make ends meet. But what happens when strange things begin to happen? An odd package arrives. Then dangerous intruders abduct him and his family- and then try to torture information out of him? Things couldn’t get worse. Or could they? Dex will need to dig deep, and try to keep his wits about him if he has any chance of finding a way to escape to save his family and himself- oh, and the world while he’s at it. An intense story full of danger, dramatic developments, action, violence, agendas, time running out, high stakes, discovery, challenges, a powerful supernatural force, deadly & determined killers, and a whole lot of nail-biting tension…. it’s well worth the read to discover all the gripping details for yourself. LAB SPILL: A Dark Comedy. Maybe. is the second book in The Cool Thing series by Robert Rife. This second instalment is another madcap fantasy, with plenty of comedy, dark humour, suspense, mutants, monsters, mayhem, murder, adventure, action, drama, and entirely engrossing developments. As with the first book, this second book is highly original and very imaginative- Mr. Rife proves to be a fantastic storyteller and knows how to pull his readers into the story, easily able to hold their attention right through till the end. Just One More Egg: A Science Folktale (Science Folktale Series) by Lois Wickstrom is a cute children’s story that has an interesting storyline, colourful illustrations, a bit of adventure, educational elements, and a touch of drama to keep things interesting. What happens when a cuckoo lays her egg in a warbler nest? What happens when the chick hatches? This is well worth the read to find out… This cute and quirky story was engaging and fun, feeding both the imagination, as well as inspiring a little learning. Happy reading!

Operation Pinpoint is the first book in an exciting new series, Space Force Rejects, by Landra Graf. It is a sci-fi romance- a space adventure with plenty of action, danger, drama, intrigue, suspense, mystery, alien races, challenges, agendas, politics, violence, love, loss, humor, banter, finding love unexpectedly, and as expected from Ms. Graf, some incredible world building. I loved Ravenna and Dravos- and even though they were thrust together under uneasy circumstances, they really were perfect for each other. Both what the other needed to heal and become whole again. I really felt for what each of them experienced, and was rooting for them from the beginning. I was completely invested in them and the outcome of their story. Nightfall in Deptford is the fourth book in the Crescent Moon Chronicles by L.E. Towne. Here I go again, diving into a series backwards. I was so caught up by the blurb and interesting cover, that I didn’t realise this was the fourth book in the series. Smh…. I soooo wish I had read the other books in this series before plunging into this one, as I suspect that knowing what happened previously would have elevated my reading experience of this book and taken it to a whole other level. Don’t get me wrong, this was a great read, and therein lies the problem…. I am seriously missing out by not having read the other books- but that is something I plan to remedy asap. I am more than intrigued by what might have happened in the previous three books, and will definitely be going back and reading them, as well as anything else Ms. Towne has produced. This is a fantastic historical urban fantasy with time travel, fae, magic, adventure, action, destiny, shifters, paranormal elements, the supernatural, dramatic developments, passion, life and death choices, high stakes, destiny, family, and a clever melding of fact and fiction. The story is skillfully woven, with wonderful world building, developing lots of threads and layers which all contribute to the depth and rich texture of the storyline that the author has cleverly crafted. I can see that the previous three books would have enriched my reading experience of this book as this continues a time travel story that began in book one. Although I was able to ‘catch up’ somewhat in this story, I still feel like I need to know what happened previously as I am sure all the books help to paint a much bigger picture.…. Circumstances have meant that Christopher Marlowe, famous 16th century playwright, and Tam Paradiso, a present-day homicide detective team up in a race against time, with challenges past and present, hard choices, threats, danger, and high stakes- all choreographed into quite a captivating story. I am looking forward to reading the previous book, as well as any future additions- can’t wait to see where things might lead. Happy Reading!

Chevalier is the first book in the War Horses series by Scott Warren. This is the first book that I have read by Mr. Warren, so I really didn’t know what to expect going into the story. I was intrigued by the title, the interesting cover, and the blurb’s promise of a captivating plot. So I took a chance and immediately plunged in to explore. I am so glad that I took a chance on this book, because it proved to be a fantastic Mecha military sci-fi story with an action-packed storyline, war, combat, adventure, tension, danger, dramatic developments, fantastic world-creation, and even a little humour just to keep things from getting too heavy. What happens when a tank mechanic finds himself thrust from behind the lines right into the face of war? Vandal and the rest of the Chevalier’s will need to rise to the challenge to face off against seemingly overwhelming odds if they are to stand a chance of surviving. Vandal has the extra challenge of trying to learn on the fly, to competently control and operate the upright tank, something he was never trained to do before. What happens makes for an engrossing story. Looking forward to Book #2, and exploring more of Mr. Warren’s work. Happy Reading!

Bycatch by Alexander Blevens took me by surprise. When I initially chose this book I thought it would be a ‘good’ story, something I could use as a bit of a ‘palate cleanse’ between some of my ‘heavier’ reads. But this took me by surprise- in a great way. It grabbed me right from the get-go and didn’t release me till I had read every word. I was so engrossed in the story that I ended up reading it in one sitting. Sleep is overrated, after all lol. It is an entertaining and suspenseful thriller with historical details, crime (and investigation), family dynamics, tortured souls, human frailty, tension, intrigue, challenges, complexity, secrets, interconnected details, moving moments, guilt, murder, greed, culture, and more. This is a well-written, detailed, and descriptive story with skillfully crafted characters who all had their own unique personalities, quirks, and flaws. I have been debating how to review this story ever since I finished reading it, not because there was anything wrong…. but because I don’t want to give too much away. I think I will let the blurb speak for the story and recommend going into the story a little blind and let the author, plot, and characters surprise you with a riveting read. If you love a bit of a twisty thriller, with tortured souls, secrets, murder, mystery, historical details, and gripping tension- then you will definitely want to snap up a copy for yourself to explore- asap. As this is his debut novel, I eagerly await more from Mr. Blevens. Happy Reading!

Curse of the Elf Lord is the second intriguing book in the Kingdom of the Elf Lords series by Heidi Vanlandingham. It is a fantastic fantasy full of paranormal elements, romance, elves, shifters, magic, action, danger, drama, emotion, adventure, superb world building, challenges, past history, interconnected details, complexity, depth, family, a quest, and high stakes. After reading the first book, ‘Return of the Elf Lord’ I wasn’t about to pass up the opportunity to read this instalment. I had high hopes for what it might contain- especially after finding out about the curse that turns an Elf into a werewolf… I was already hooked by at that stage and my anticipation was set on high. After excitedly diving right in, I was soon engrossed in all the intriguing developments- and devoured every word. WOOT!!! She did it again!!! Another feather in this talented author’s cap! Boss’s Vendetta is the first book in the Sicilian Gods series by Via Mari. This is a fantastic start to a new series, but is also a bit of a nod to ‘The Larussio Legacy’ series as this first instalment gives us Salvatore Larussio’s story- and wow, what a story he has! It is a fantastic dark mafia romantic suspense with an enemies-to-lovers and forced proximity element- as well as danger, intensity, drama, action, chemistry, sizzle, agendas, mafia politics, high stakes, emotion, and more. As I have mentioned so many times now, I have read all of Via Mari’s book and have loved every one of them. She never fails to deliver a sexy and enticing read that keeps me glued to the pages as all the gritty developments unfold. And this story didn’t let me down! With wonderful characters, superb chemistry, attention to detail, as well as palpable suspense cleverly woven throughout the plot… all this gripping tension definitely had me on the edge of my seat- avidly reading to discover how it would all play out. It’s a fantastic addition to the series, building on what we have previously experienced, while diving deeper into things, building a bigger picture of what is going on through all the action-packed adventure. This series just gets better with each new instalment, keeping my intrigue set on high, and always leaving me anticipating the next addition. This is a wonderful Young Adult fantasy adventure- including paranormal, supernatural, and sci-fi elements, as well as lots of action, mystery, drama, danger, emotion, magic, secrets, family dynamics, challenges, agendas, and discoveries. This story is again from Rei’s point of view, so I really recommend reading the previous book/s before starting on this one, to give you all the important backstory, character information, and other intriguing details which will help you to better appreciate this story, as well as the series as a whole. WE Blend is the first book in the Falling For the Rockstar’s Daughter series by Willa Drew. It is a fun contemporary romance with secrets, drama, chemistry, and finding love unexpectedly- all set around the music scene. Willa Drew is a new to me author and upon further investigation I discovered that this is the pen name of two talented authors who collaborated to bring us this flirty and fun read. I am glad I stumbled on this book and these authors, and I will definitely be adding them to my list of authors to keep my eye out for. I won’t go into the story here, as I really don’t want to spoil it for you. I think it is worth going into a bit ‘blind’ and let the authors, characters, and story surprise you- in a great way. I loved the whole secret identity element, as well as the music ‘scene’ aspect to the story- it gave the book its own unique identity and feel. The characters, Wil and El (WE) were well developed and likeable- I was easily invested in them and the outcome of their story. This book ends on a cliffhanger, so everything is set to continue in Book #2…. Bring it on! Happy Reading.

Defying Ella is the fourth book in the True Platinum series by Morgana Bevan. This is the first book that I have read by Ms. Bevan- and I have to say, what a great introduction it was. I didn’t realise when I snapped up a copy of this book, that it was the fourth book in the series. But it appears that each instalment in the series focuses on a different couple- so each book can be read as a standalone. But having said that, this story has left me with a taste for more of Ms. Bevan’s work- so I will definitely be one-clicking the rest of the series to explore. I can’t wait to discover more about the other characters and what has happened previously. Here we meet bad boy rocker Jared, whom I both wanted to throttle and lick, sometimes simultaneously. At first I wasn’t sure if I was going to like him- but he won me over. Ella, Ella, Ella- I wanted to hug her- and then shake her, hard, out of complete frustration. All the push-pull, hate-love-hate, angsty tension and drama played a fine tune with my all my emotions, that’s for sure. If you love your bad boy Rockstar romances, then you won’t want to miss getting your hands on a copy of this book and diving in asap. Happy Reading!

It is a fun enemies to lovers contemporary romantic comedy with plenty of chemistry, sparks, banter, angst, touching moments, pet rescue, cats vs dogs, antics, and just enough drama to keep things interesting. This is my first read from Ms. Blume, and after reading this I can honestly say that it definitely won’t be the last. This was such a fun read; I can’t wait to explore more of Ms. Blume’s stories. If you love a fun read, that will make you laugh out loud at the antics- then you should snap up a copy for yourself and discover all the funny, fur-flying, sweet, and feel good moments for yourself. Stumble & Fall is the second book in A Legacy of Silence series by Amy Rivers. It is an intense and gripping story- a suspenseful psychological thriller with crime and investigation, tension, danger, dramatic developments, action, mystery, tragedy, a quest for justice, challenges, family dynamics, and emotion. This book follows up Complicit (Book #1), which I hadn’t read going into this story, but luckily this was able to be read as a standalone. But I would like to know more about the backstory of Kate and Tilly, and the events that occurred in Book One, so I will be going back to read that book asap to discover what happened there. The story pulled me in right from the beginning and held me in its grip the whole way through to the end. I thought the author did a fantastic job of building the tension and suspense, while weaving lots of dramatic and intriguing elements, cleverly, throughout the plot. These characters were really well-developed individuals with their own unique personalities, quirks, and flaws. They were both damaged from past events, but still had the strength to start over and face new challenges, and dangers, head on. I quickly found myself investing in them and the outcome of the story. The ending leaves a couple of threads that will lead us into Book Three. Can’t wait! Happy Reading!

It is another well-developed crime thriller- following along with Hunter Devine and his crew as they investigate what appears to be a fairly straight-forward blackmail plot- but things aren’t quite so simple and take a sinister turn as they get tangled in a deadly web of murder, drugs, prostitution, and perilous danger. What happens makes for a gripping read with plenty to keep you glued to the pages- mystery, suspense, agendas, investigation, intrigue, tension, violence, danger, plots, action, and lots of dramatic developments. Friends With Benies: An AMBW Paranormal Romance is the seventh book in the Paris in Springtime series by T.B. Bond. I didn’t realise when I one-clicked myself a copy, that it was the seventh book in the series…. but thankfully it can be read as a standalone without feeling like you are missing anything by not having read the previous six books. But it has made me curious about what has happened in the first six books, and wanting to ‘meet’ those characters- so I will probably go on a bit of a book binge soon to see what they contain. This is my first ever AMBW witch and her panda shifter best friend story- so I was really curious to see where the story would lead. It turned out to be a sweet and romantic story where two best friends-with-benefits finally take a chance on forever love- after some help from their meddling relatives and a romantic singles cruise in Paris. There is plenty of humour, fun, and antics along the way- as well as some adventure, angst, and drama to balance things out. All while their chemistry steamed up the pages along the way. My Bronc Riding Cowgirl is the sixth book in the My Cowboy series by Brooke May. I have read quite a few of Ms. May’s books now, and as I have mentioned previously, I really love how well developed her characters are and how realistic and believable they seem- and how easily they are able to pull me into their ‘world’ and get me entirely invested in them and the outcome of their story. This contemporary western romance has drama, chemistry, angst, finding love unexpectedly, emotion- and set amongst the bronc riding circuit. Cord and Tori are wonderful characters and were perfect for each other. Even though this is the sixth book in the series, it can be read as a standalone. But, having said that though, I recommend getting your hands on the entire series as there is plenty to love about the previous five books- with lots of other characters to get to know. Looking forward to seeing what comes next!

Break the Darkness is book #2.5 in the Vigilant series by L.M. Preston. This story is from Rei’s point of view, so this book is building on what we have previously experienced and lets us dive deeper into things- which is all helping to build a bigger picture of what is going on. Again, as with the rest of the series, this is an action-packed YA fantasy with paranormal/supernatural/sci-fi elements, action, adventure, mystery, drama, danger, emotion, challenges, agendas, magic, secrets, family, choices, and more. This could be read as a standalone, but you would be missing out on all the other stories, character introductions, and interesting background information that will help you better appreciate this book, and the series as a whole- as well as adding to the bigger picture that is being painted. Moby Plays the Flute by Eeha Bhatt is such a cute and sweet children’s story with the most delightful illustrations which give the story a bit of a whimsical feel. The story is well written with a thoughtful story that was so easy to read. It is full of heartwarming moments, as well as lessons teaching about patience, hard work, believing in yourself…. and so much more (see the list below).

Into the Light is the third book in the Moon Harbor Series by Kate McWilliams. I have come into this series a little backwards because I grabbed a copy of this without realising it’s Book Three in the series…. But luckily, it can be read as a standalone, and didn’t make me feel like I was missing anything by not having read the previous books first. Having said that though, I really enjoyed the story, and I would love to know more about the other characters, so I will be going back to read the previous two books before continuing with the series. This is an emotional and steamy romantic suspense. A forbidden romance with a ‘brother’s best friend/best friend’s little sister’ element, sweet and tender moments, intrigue, dramatic developments, a swoon-worthy leading man, dirty talk, a little mysteriousness, and more. Raf and Ellie were so easy to like, and I soon found myself completely invested in them and the outcome of their story. I like the suspense/mystery element, it was really well done and cleverly choreographed by Ms. McWilliams. She definitely kept me completely engrossed the whole way through. Although the last part of the book did feel somewhat rushed, but thankfully that didn’t detract too much from my overall enjoyment of the book. I am looking forward to exploring the rest of the series. Happy Reading!

Necrosis by C.L. Schneider is a gripping zombie apocalypse survival story that grasped me tightly in its hold. I have read and loved all Ms. Schneider’s books, so it was a no-brainer for me to snap up a copy of this to dive into. This is a bit of a different direction to her other books that I have read- but, hello, zombie apocalypse….. which turned out to be my favourite of all her stories. This is the story of Amy’s fight for survival for herself and her young daughter after a deadly virus sweeps the world- leaving chaos, destruction, and masses of infected in its wake. This fast-paced, tense, and gripping story is full of action, adventure, horror, danger, dramatic developments, intrigue, sacrifice, challenges, mother’s love/mother-daughter dynamics, family, hope, darker themes, and emotion. Grave Digger Academy II by C.A. King follows on from Grave Digger Academy and continues the intriguing adventures. It is a fantastic YA paranormal fantasy with plenty of mystery, action, tension, intrigue, and dramatic developments. As we discovered in Book One, Makayla didn’t want to attend Grave Digger Academy, but didn’t exactly have a choice. She soon discovers that there was definitely more to Grave Digger Academy than she expected. In this instalment Makayla is about to start her second year, and after what happened in Book One, things are off to an interesting start. With an inter-academy challenge thrown into the mix, there’s plenty of tension in the air, while bringing a huge dose of the unexpected – and so the supernatural adventure begins. Another fun read! Burn is the first book in the Elemental Warriors series and debut novel by Joanna Morgan. This is a fantastic paranormal romance with plenty of originality, danger, Elemental warriors facing off against a powerful supernatural adversary, action, adventure, mystery, intrigue, tension, intensity, chemistry, steam, and agendas. I was drawn to the book by the interesting cover and the fact the blurb promised something a little different in paranormal romance… and, to be honest, Ms. Morgan had me at Elementals. So, I didn’t waste a minute and grabbed a copy and began to immediately explore. I was soon immersed in an exciting story that pulled me in and kept me flipping the pages, avidly reading to discover how things would play out. I loved the creative and original world-building, it really added an extra element of interest to the whole story for me. The whole Elemental Warriors, Sleepers, Chaolt thing was really well done and had me invested right from the opening passages. I think this book sets the series off to a fantastic start and I can’t wait to get my hands on Book #2! If you love paranormal romance you will definitely want to grab a copy of this book to explore. True Colors is the third and final instalment in the Colors Trilogy by K.R. Raye. As with the other two books in this series, this is a contemporary New Adult story with romance, emotion, challenges, friendship, drama, angst, and humour. As this is the conclusion to the series, I highly recommend reading the first two books before starting on this one- as knowing what happened previously will help you to better understand the characters, and their motivations- while also providing important backstory/storyline information (etc) that will definitely enhance you reading experience of this instalment (and the series as a whole). Imani, Melody, and Lance have been through quite a lot since the beginning of the series. Together they have faced some serious challenges as they navigated their way through life. Their friendship was tested, and cracks opened up. In this book they are working at rebuilding their bonds, but it’s not quite that simple. We follow all the highs and lows and what happens makes for a great read, and is a fitting conclusion to the series… Happy Reading!
