From the summary I knew that this book would be one that didn’t fall within my normal reading queue. That said, the author, for me, didn’t belittle or make light of the lifestyle she explored. The characters were relatable and complex. The relationship between the main characters was well established and layered. The plot had a natural ebb and flow to it. I connected to the characters insomuch that I cared about them and wanted to know how things would resolve. A very good read and one I look forward to seeing continue in future books of the series. Hawke was an exotic, romantic, erotic, and action packed novel that was addicting from start to finish. Word of caution though it does have mention of rape, a use, alcohol abuse, and drug addiction in the storyline. Hawke comes from a brutal past but has turned what he knows into something productive. Through his BDSM club he opens he is able to find an outlet that is until Charlotte sets him into a tail spin. Her character is a blessing and the affect she has on Hawke was astounding. The two characters changed quite a bit as the story progressed. Also the serial killer really surprised me. I mean wow! Totally not what I was expecting. This novel was amazing and I loved everything about it. I highly recommend it!

Hawke (Men of Syn Book 1) By: Anise Storm 5 out of 5 stars
The story Hawke (Men of Syn Book 1) by Anise Storm is a book that had me hooked from the very beginning and didn’t let me go until the final page. I loved reading about the characters of Charlotte Maxwell and Nathaniel Hawke. Charlotte is a woman who is determined to be independent. She runs her own business. She realizes that her latest client is someone from her past. She finds him handsome however also if asked she would say he is rude and arrogant. Nathaniel is a man with a dark past. He also can’t stop thinking about Charlotte. She is different, makes him feel different. He knows that his wants her, he tries to keep her at arm’s length. Charlotte is determined to prove to Nathaniel that there is something between them. What does the future hold for Nathaniel and Charlotte? Read this book to find out. This is a story that had my emotions going up and down the entire time I was reading it. There are some very steamy scenes that will make the temperature in the room rise. There is also some moments that are suspenseful and had me wondering what was going to happen next. This is a book that you don’t want to miss out on. The characters are well-developed. I came to care about Charlotte and Nathanial with each chapter that I read. This is a story that I would recommend reading.

I loved this book! It has a little bit of everything in it from hot, steamy situations to suspense to just an awesome story line. I loved how I was pulled in from the start and made to feel as if I was part of the story. This is Hawke and Charlotte’s story. He is dominant and hard headed and she has a determination to go after what she wants. Together they are steam but will they be able to overcome demons and realize that love is possible? You don’t want to miss this one. A must read book!

Arrogant. Sexy. Eerily Familiar – All were true when it came to Charlotte Maxwell’s newest client in need of a party planner. She experienced deja vu the moment she met the sexy club owner, and soon realized that he was the faceless Dominant responsible for the most mortifying night of her life just one year earlier.
Beautiful. Innocent. Submissive – Nathaniel ‘Hawke’ Hawkins knew the gorgeous blonde was off limits to him the moment he realized their connection. He’d allowed her to get under his skin once, but he was determined to hold her at arm’s length this time. Of course, that was much easier said than done once passion erupts between them at the masquerade party.
Addictive. Obsessive. Dangerous – While Hawke remains haunted by skeletons from his own past, Charlotte is determined to show him there is something between them. In denial about his growing attraction for her, someone much more sinister develops his own deadly obsession with Charlotte. Will Hawke be able to conquer his own demons before his potential future is taken away from him?
