Hawke (Men of Syn Duet) by Anise Storm – Review by Katrina Evanochko

Hawke (Men of Syn, #1)Hawke by Anise Storm
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Hawke is the first in a BDSM romance series, Men of Syn. Nathanial “Hawke” Hawkins is the owner of Syn, a BDSM club opening in Denver. He hires Charlotte Maxwell’s company to plan the grand opening party. Neither of them realize at first that they actually know each other through a BDSM club in another city the previous year.

I did not like Hawke at first. He is abrupt, rude, and dismissive of pretty much everyone around him. He did grow on me, and learning about why he acts the way he does helped, as did the development of his character. I liked Charlotte immediately, and even though she is submissive in the bedroom, she is anything but outside of that. I liked her independence and fire. The chemistry between Hawke and Charlotte is real! They are like 2 objects being pulled together by gravity.

Overall, I liked the story, but there were a couple things I had a hard time with. I felt their emotions developed fairly quickly, especially with all the conflict. The part in the hotel room also made me a bit uncomfortable. Despite that, I still liked the story and am glad I read it.
[The knife part in the hotel room made me uncomfortable and the speed at which feelings developed when there was so much conflict bothered me a bit. (hide spoiler)]

Despite that, I still liked the story and am glad I read it.
