Past Storm and Fire by Christy Nicholas was an original, engaging detail read, that had me hooked.
Not my first read by this author, so I new going in that this book was going to be something otherworldly and fantastical. And I was not disappointed. This book was hooking right from the start. Opening with that storm, it not only set the stage for the mood, but it showed us right away the cracks in Val’s and Karl’s marriage. It was a heavy hitter from there, and once that fantasy plot got underway, there was no turning back for me. I loved the play on fact or fiction, and the way the author had Val escape into her writing. It was a unique twist and it made this story stand out.
Overall this book gets my super high recommendation and my stamp of approval.

Heels of Fortune in book 2 in the PJ Santini series by Lynne Russell. I liked this book better than the first, as the character development is done and we could focus on the story. It should be read following book 2, as it is the continuation picking up right where book one left off. PJ Santini is a private investigator, as well as a TV reporter, who just helped solve the murder of another local reporter. She has strong family ties and her family is very much Italian. She has a good solid network of family and friends that help her solve crimes as well as report them. In this book she has someone after her, and must uncover the truth about her dead husband in order to stay alive herself. This story is entertaining, as it has suspense, romance and comedy wrapped up in a perfect trifecta.

This is the third book in this series. We get to see the conclusion to Olivia and Ash’s story. I was excited to see what happened with them and if they get their happy ever after. They are great characters that bring the story to life and made me feel as if I was right there with them. Will their demons finally catch up with them? What does fate have in store for them? Their story is a must read. I didn’t regret picking up this series.

This is the second book in this series. I highly recommend reading the first book to help enrich your enjoyment of this series. In this book Olivia and Ash’s story continues. I loved watching them grow even more in this story. A new beginning for them or so they think. Will secrets, betrayals change things for them? They have great chemistry. I had a hard time putting this book down, a must read.

This is the first book in Olivia’s story. She thought life was over for her when her husband left but little did she know that fate might have something to say about it. She meets a man, Ash, who has everything including secrets. These two have great chemistry and are really great together. They are relatable and bring the story to life. A must read.

Things We Lost (Loving Locksley Book 1) by Shae Banks 5 stars
Let me start by saying, this was such a great book. I love second chance romances, and this one was very interesting. I connected with Nat, I felt for all she had been through. And Jason, I really really liked him. I did, i so did. He explained the past asked for forgiveness and tried to earn her trust back. If the book ended at this point, it still would have been a great read. But, we get sucker punched, for lack of a better phrase. I didn’t see it coming, I had no idea, no little voice saying “wait for it”, nothing. And then after that, a small scene and then over. Do we get more? Heaven help me I need to know more here and I will be waiting with bated breath and festering feelings as I’m so confused why I feel ok about this books actions! I haven’t felt this way in quite some time. Im on both sides of the fence here and i need to know where to go! I will be reading more from this author and hopefully we get more dual pov as the small snippet from Jason left me wanting more on his side. Ugh going to dive into some ice cream to drown my traitorous feelings over here lol

Out of the Box Everlasting (Out of the Box Book 3): A Second Chance Romance Series By: Jennifer Theriot 5 out of 5 stars
The story Out of the Box Everlasting (Out of the Box Book 3): A Second Chance Romance Series by Jennifer Theriot is the third book in a series that I can only describe as awesome and amazing. This series captured my heart and spoke to my soul. Ash and Olivia are facing tragedy and chaos. Olivia finds herself again with uncertainty and feelings of betrayal. One thoughtless decision made has the ability to destroy the relationship that Oliva and Ash hold so dear. What does the future hold for Ash and Olivia? Read this book to find out. All throughout this series the characters of Ash and Olivia have been well-developed and I found myself thinking of them more as friends than characters in a book. There are many other additional characters that are introduced throughout the three stories which I fell in love with as well. Their lives and that of Ash and Olivia are intertwined and I couldn’t see the story without any of them. Don’t miss out in the third book in a series that I couldn’t stop think about even after I had finished it. Highly recommended.

The story Out of The Box Regifted (Out of the Box Book 2): A Second Chance Romance Series by Jennifer Theriot is the next book in a series that I would call amazing to read. After reading the first one I jumped right into the second and I was not disappointed. In this story Olivia starts to become a different woman than she was before. She is starting to take control of her life and face the demons from her past. Olivia is a character that I grew to care about with each chapter that I read and I found myself wanting her to find happiness in her life. Ash’s character also becomes more defined and I loved reading about him just as much as Olivia. The story does take your emotions on a rollercoaster ride that doesn’t stop until you have finished the final page. Highly recommended.

When a man can’t cope, get you a woman who can. Orlaugh has been a faithful Seer to her cousin, the chief, for almost 50 years but for some reason he doesn’t hold too much stock in the Visions. A new bishop sees Orlaugh as a threat to himself and Christianity, and wants her dead on principle. Bishop Malachi insults her and outright says to kill her within seconds of meeting her. This dude got my blood boiling and I wanted to smack him. Orlaugh, however, knows what storm is coming and will not let men’s dismissal stop her from trying to prevent to war and bloodshed she fears is imminent. I love Orlaugh so much. She’s witty, wise, and doesn’t give a good gosh darn. I want to be her when I’m old. This whole series is fantastic and I recommend them to anyone who likes historical fiction.

Shortcuts by Amy Bearce is a delightful fantasy aimed towards children aged 9 to 14 years old. But I am waaaaay older than that, and still enjoyed the story. There are some tougher issues covered in this book- such as challenges, consequences, conflicts, and owning up to mistakes… which were handled really well by the author, who wrote in a way that was thought-provoking, yet would also allow the younger (teen) reader/s to understand. A story with a message/moral. The characters are well crafted individuals who were interesting, and believable. They learned and grew as the story progressed. Coming out the other side stronger and wiser. The story has a fast pace and is a fun and engaging read.

The story Out of The Box Awakening (Out of the Box Book 1): A Second Chance Romance series by Jennifer Theriot is a book that I loved reading. It draws you in from the very beginning and I found myself not wanting to put it down until I had finished the final page. It is a story that is emotional and romantic. This book introduces you to Olivia Petersen and Ash Harper. Olivia feels the pain and confusion of betrayal. It is in Chicago that she must face a challenge that is unexpected. She also meets Ashe. You can feel how overwhelmed that Oliva is and I couldn’t help but have sympathy and empathy for her. Ash is a man that has everything except the healing from losses that alludes him. Read this story to find out what happens when Oliva and Ash are thrown together. This is a book that will have you glued to the pages. Highly recommended.

Love and Ghosts (Crescent City Ghost Tours) by Carrie Pulkinen is a brilliant book that you will just have to devour in one sitting. This whole book have been done perfectly. The characters are strong and interesting. They have a depth to them that just draws the reader in to their story and instantly connects you with them. They are the absolute backbone of this story, which is gripping in its own right. And while the book has so much too it I also found it to be fun and entertaining. It brought all elements together so well and created something that was so so good to read. I have read books by this author before so I did know what to expect however this book definitely surpassed all expectations. I would highly recommend this book to everyone!
WOW- Got to say, I am LOVING this series so much! Really, if you love fantasy/paranormal in any of its guises- and you haven’t read this book/series- what are you waiting for?! Click away and dive in, you really won’t regret it! The Queen of Witches is the second book in the Wheel of Crowns Series by Brandi Elledge. It is addictive reading- a riveting, action-packed paranormal fantasy, with witches, werewolves, warlocks, psychics, soothsayers, vampires, supernatural creatures, magic, fate, missing keys, bloody battles, intensity, drama, choices, changes, chemistry, friendship, different factions, hidden agendas, and much, much more. Charlize Galloway (Charli) has begun to think that there is something seriously wrong with her, because ever since she turned 18, strange things have been happening and she can’t work out why. Then things take an even stranger, but sexy turn, when two gorgeous strangers arrive in town- both vying for her attention. One promises to help her discover ‘who’ she really is and to teach her about the unusual things that seem to happen around her. The other needs her help finding something very important. But danger isn’t very far away, and soon Charli will need to choose who she will place her trust in. There is quite a lot riding on her decision. Who can she trust? What will she choose? And will it be the right decision? OMG! Where do I even begin to do this book the justice it deserves! It is so funny, emotive, exciting, fast-paced, intense, touching, romantic, and just plain incredible. The story is told from Charlie’s perspective, which I loved- but I really wanted to hear from Jameson too- especially after meeting him briefly in book#1 and being so intrigued by him. Ms. Elledge is a gifted storyteller and excels at original, and intricately detailed world building- bringing the whole story to life. She’s a masterful storyteller, that’s for sure!! Without a doubt, one of my favourite series, ever!! Book three is set to be even better!!

Love & Ghosts is the first book in the Crescent City Ghost Tours series by Carrie Pulkinen. The first book in her exciting new series, and I was thrilled to get my hands on it. I devoured it the very moment it landed in my kindle, hooked from the very first page, reading it all in one spellbinding sitting. It is a fantastic paranormal romance- with ghosts, second chances, new beginnings, grief, loss, supernatural elements, Voodoo, mystery, suspense, action, danger, drama, obsession, and plenty of sizzle….. set against the vibrant, colourful and mystical backdrop that is New Orleans. The characters are quirky individuals who really made this story come alive. They were really interesting and very well developed. I loved Sean and Emily, and was cheering them on right from the get-go! There was a lot more to them, and the story, than meets the eye, that’s for sure! The story is quite intense at times, and superbly suspenseful- with a real ‘mystery’ to try to unravel. There are funny moment- with witty quips/banter that made me smile- lots of emotion, and a wonderful romance, too. I have developed a severe addiction to Ms. Pulkinen’s work- one that I am more than happy to indulge- no rehab needed! I can’t wait to see what book two has in store for us!

The Mourning Islands By Douglas Wells took me on a journey of secrets, lies, intrigue, suspense, mystery, murder, discovery, romance, violence, and danger. This is the second book that I have read by Mr. Wells, so I am still ‘getting to know him’ but was eager to find out what this story had in store for us. The plot was very intriguing and suspenseful, as it twisted and turned. I was left guessing as to the outcome, because every time I thought I had it pinned down, BAM- there was a twist I didn’t see coming. The story does have some dark, emotional, and depressing moments which really sets the mood and tone of the whole story. There were lighter moments, and a little romance sprinkled through the story- but overall this is a ‘moody’ read. Mr. Wells has written a descriptive and detailed, multi-layered storyline, that has several threads running at the same time- and it’s not till towards the end that the threads begin to come together- again, leaving me wondering how things will ‘end’. When the end did come, I sat looking at my screen, somewhat in shock- “No! It can’t possibly end like that!”, I was thinking to myself! Oh, but it does! My mind is still trying to come to grips with it, and it’s been a couple of days since I closed the book! I can’t go into detail without spoiling it for you, suffice to say that when you read the book you will know exactly what I mean. I really wanted good things for Tamlon- he deserved good things to happen to him!!! Looking at you Mr. Wells……. If you like a suspenseful mystery, with murder, twists, and a plot you can’t pin down- then this is definitely the book for you!

Shortcuts (Singularities) by Amy Bearce was a hooking fun, engaging, well crafted and just, made me fall back in love with YA.
My first read by this author,. and I have to say I am going to be adding her to my watch list. This book is fresh, different and just had this wicket vibe to it. It had things I love about YA, and it has the things I wish other YA series had. It felt almost real, even with the powers. Man I’m having a time trying to get out how special this book is. On a technical side, this book is as I said, well crafted. The writing is smooth, connecting and it draws you in. The detail was spot on, and I felt at times I was watching a movie, I just got completely lost in this book. The characters, not just the MC, are loveable, realistic, and properly some of the best I’ve read about this year.
If anything you need to give this book a chance, and if you were like me and falling out of love with YA, this book will drawn you back in rekindle a new love. This book broke the mold, and it gets my super high recommendation, and my golden stamp of approval.
Blinded by Betrayal with Spin Drift by Lisette Kristensen is a great thriller. Lisette Kristensen grabbed me from the first page until the last word. The description of the characters and scenery makes everything realistic. I could see myself in these stories as well. I would not like to be in the situation they are in but I could be the character in the background that people could depend on. Sloane is a strong character with a good head on her shoulders. That in itself makes me what to read the story, but the page turning action was the other reason. When Betrayal enters the picture what will happen to Sloane? Can there be a recovery after emotions fly around?

I enjoyed this page turning, sitting on the edge of my seat story. It has mystery, murder and romance. This is a well written story that pulled me in right from the beginning. I enjoyed how the characters brought this story to life and made me want to keep turning pages. This is a story about Talmon who is hired to investigate but there could be another reason. The risks are high for all characters. I highly recommend picking up this book.

This is my favorite in the series yet. This book is creative, well written, engaging and pulled me in from the first page. The characters bring the story to life and kept me turning pages. I enjoyed watching them grow throughout the story. Orlagh takes you on a journey or quest of finding an heir for her magic brooch. It has magic, page turning action and you have to find out if she succeeds but it is worth the read. I highly recommend this book.

I enjoyed this book, it has a little bit of everything in it from romance to mystery to ghosts. It is a creative, well written story that kept me turning pages until the end. This is about Emily and Sean. Emily doesn’t believe in ghosts but Sean is a medium. When a mysterious box shows up on Emily’s doorstep will Sean be able to convince her to believe? There are many great characters that make this story come alive and keep the story engaging. I highly recommend this book.
Out of the Box Collection: A Second Chance Romance Series: The Complete 3-Book Collection By: Jennifer Theriot 5 out of 5 stars
The three books in the Out of the Box Collection: A Second Chance Romance Series by Jennifer Theriot are both awesome and amazing to read. They are stories that pulled me in from the very beginning and didn’t let me go until I had finished the last page. When I was done reading my first thought was “Wow!” These stories are romantic, steamy, and gives you a warm feeling. I loved reading about the characters of Oliva Peterson and Ash Harper. Olivia is a woman who is a wonderful mother. Her life changed the day that her husband left her. She is a woman what wants to feel independent and wants to feel like she has control over her life. She also is attracted to Ash. Ash is a man who is handsome, attentive, caring, and kind. He is a gentlemen who finds himself attracted to Oliva. What does the future hold for Oliva and Ash? Will they act on their feelings and emotions for one another? Will they take the second chance that seems to have been set before them? Read this book to find out. This story has both heart breaking and heartwarming moments. The characters are so well-developed that you feel like they become friends. Oliva and Ash are characters that I came to love and care about with each chapter that I read. You feel deeply for them both and want them to be happy. There are many other characters that are introduced and they become just as important as Oliva and Ash. The way that they interact with the main couple and how their lives intertwine is wonderful to read about. The story includes conflict, romance, and even a bit of mystery. Don’t miss out on this book set that will have you reading way into the night to finish. They are unforgettable and I found myself thinking about them even after I had finished them. Highly recommended.

Nathalie’s past has left her scarred and untrusting. Can she find it in herself to trust Jason or will her past come back to haunt her? The story line was so good and the characters are great! This is the first I’ve read from Shae Banks and I cannot wait for the next book! While it doesn’t end a cliff hanger, you know there is more to come for these two and I need to know what it is!

Heels of Fortune is the second PJ Santini book, it picks up where the first left off but with more spunk and attitude. This story answers some of the questions I had about the first one and I am more than happy with the result. PJ is definitely not a woman I would want to mess with especially when her family is involved. Since this story focuses so much on her past and her family, I couldn’t help but see her as a ruthless woman determined to protect those around her while she tries to solve the mystery that is chasing her. This book was just what I needed, a quick escape for a few hours.

The Mourning Islands By: Douglas Wells 5 out of 5 stars
The story The Mourning Islands by Douglas Wells is a thrilling book that I loved reading. It has suspense and mystery. It is a story that had me turning pages wondering what was going to happen next. I enjoyed reading about that character of Talmon Bonnett. He is a veteran who has taken a job to befriend the man who is responsible for building a new resort on Mourning Island. He is able to hold his own when he needs to and begins his assignment. He can be stubborn. What will Talmon discover? What does the future hold for Talmon? Read this book to find out. There are other characters that I enjoyed reading about. They are all both interesting and intriguing. I enjoyed reading about Marlene. She and Talmon start an affair. She is feisty and one that speaks her mind. Talmon finds himself falling for her. There is also Rusty and Claire. Add in two mobster brothers who are in a dispute and you can’t help feel like you’re on a roller coaster ride that doesn’t end until the final page. I enjoyed that the story is detailed and there are times when I felt like I was right there with the characters seeing what they did. Don’t miss out on a book that is exciting and entertaining to read. Highly recommended.

Things We Lost is the first book in the Loving Locksley series. It tells us the story of a second chance romance between Jason Locksley and his childhood sweetheart Nathalie. Nathalie hadn’t seen Jason since he left her 13 years earlier without looking back. When she bumps into him the same day she gets a new job that will move her closer to home, she is reluctant to rekindle their flame but Jason doesn’t give up easily. I enjoyed this book although I did keep waiting for a wow moment which didn’t come. The lead characters were well-written and the story moved along at a good pace. I liked the fact that the characters could meet up after many years and try to start again, despite the mistakes they had both made in their life. Nathalie’s straight-talking best friend was a breath of fresh air too, although once Jason came on the scene there was not as much from her. I enjoyed this book and look forward to seeing what Shae Banks has next for the characters.

Wild Heart (Hollywood Hearts Book 4) by Belinda Williams
Five Stars
Can I just say that I am in love with this book. The characters, the plot and the author. Cole is hot not just handsome but stop you dead in your tracks hot. But what really hot me was that he stepped up to be a father. That he thought of his family before himself. Then there is Faith. My heart hurt for her. She had been through so much. She had finally had enough of being on the go. I was so excited after reading this story that I have to go back and read more. The author really captures your attention from beginning to end. Things We Lost by Shae Banks a four-star read that you won’t want to lose. I enjoyed this story and the writing but I do have to admit that its not my favourite second chance romance, that being said I cant wait to see more from this author in particular where she will go with the rest of the Loving Locksley series as the writing is good. Nathalie Johnson and Jason Locksley have a good story, its well plotted and is very real, and just like most relationships it ebbs and flows but also there isn’t any fireworks, well not enough to make it memorable. This story shows us great promise.
