There was so much in the book I don’t even know where to start. So we start with a funeral, which was not a surprise given the series is called Funerals and Weddings. The beloved coach is gone and “his” has come to pay their respect. What will happen when Rachel and Craig meet again? I laughed and cried through this book. Definitely will be reading the next book!

Something Lost is the first book of the Funerals and Weddings series by Bernadette Marie. Rachel Diaz has just lost her father and at his funeral the one man who stole her hearts returns, Craig Turner. Can Rachel put aside her demons and get a second chance at love?

This story was well-written and enjoyable on many levels. You feel every emotion from these characters, that at one point I wanted to just hug them. I am looking forward to more books from the other Fab 5.

There are so many good things that I could say about this book! The first book in the Funerals and Weddings series by Bernadette Marie, Something Lost is a great start to what I assume will be a fantastic series!

When his college basketball coach dies from illness, Craig Turner goes to his funeral and reconnects with multiple people from his past, including the coach’s daughter Rachel. Ten years had passed since he had seen her last, but the chemistry between them proves to be strong as ever as they reconnect over the span of the book.

One of the things that I loved about the book was the focus on mental illness. It was interesting to see just how much mental illness can impact a family. I hope that the future books in the series also focus a bit on mental illness, because the author did a very good job at making the reader relate to and understand what the characters were going through.

I love and appreciate the concept of second chances. I cherish rectifying wrongs, healing past hurts and mending broken relationships. I thought that Something Lost was a typical second chance story- but imagine my delight when I found out that it was something more! While I understand the importance of primary characters, I also relished the interactions of the secondary characters. This novel encompasses broken relationships, not only intimate relationships but also friendships and family relationships. Something Lost has so many layers and beautiful complexities. There are some triggering scenes; however, it does not take away from the novel but adds a realistic point of view to the book. I wholeheartedly recommend Something Lost and hope that you too will have that second chance to mend that which is broken and turn it into something beautiful.

Bernadette Marie did a great job at creating her little world within this series. I have so far only read the first book but I absolutely adore books that follow character storylines from other perspectives.
“Something Lost” is a fantastic palette cleanser for someone who is in the need of a light hearted romance with a bit of a spin. The entire story has you thinking “what’s going to happen next?!”; each sentence is like a cliffhanger!
The minute detail that was included, simply to bring the scene together in the reader’s head was absolutely on point. 10/10 would recommend!

Something Lost by Bernadette Marie is book one of the Funerals and Weddings series. Second chance romances are one of my favorite tropes and this book is no exception!

Craig and Rachel broke the rules when they dated in high school but that didn’t stop them from falling in love. As it does, the real world got in the way and they both went separate ways. Now they are forced back together. Craig and Rachel have both experienced some highs and lows since they’ve been separated but there is some rekindling of their spark when they see each other again. They definitely have hurdles in their way. Can Rachel face her traumas to be with Craig and can he handle the baggage or will these two fizzle out like they did before?

I enjoyed this book. There was a lot of emotion and the characters were well developed. It really felt like you were right next to them going through this story. I can’t wait to see what this series has in store for the rest of the characters!

This book touched on some deep situations, grief being one of the biggest. Craig and Rachel dated secretly behind coach Diaz’s back, but things ended years before they reunited. Something Lost is a story that shows, the heart wants what it wants. I enjoyed this book because it was realistic. It was just fairytales and rainbows. Real life issues surrounding grief are very well displayed.

Something Lost (Funerals and Weddings Series #1) by Bernadette Marie

Not the first book I’ve read by Marie. Something Lost is the first book in the Funerals and Weddings Series. It is a wonderful story and will leave you wanting more.

Rachel is in shock after seeing the team her father thought the world of. She wants to catch up with Craig. He was her first love and in the last ten years it hasn’t changed that. The quote I chose for Rachel is: “It was the first time I really noticed you. Before then, you melded in with the team. Hal and Theo would hang with you guys, and I was told to stay upstairs. But when you hung around, I noticed.”

Craig didn’t think agreeing to show up at Coach Diaz’s funeral would lead to seeing Rachel again. He isn’t sure if they are starting something new or if they are ending it. When something drastic happens he worries for her safety. The quote I chose for Craig is: “I loved you too. I didn’t show it well, but I thought we would be forever. I knew in time your father would forgive me, but I had to prove myself to him—and me.”

Highly recommended for Contemporary Romance lovers.

In an instant, Author Bernadette Marie, has a new fan! Something Lost was a wonderfully sweet story that brought out so many different emotions in myself as I read through it. Dealing with grief is never easy and so many Authors attempt to bring out the pain their characters feel in a very real way. Ms. Marie has not only accomplished that, but made me care deeply about the characters as well. I had a real connection with Rachel and Craig. I found myself unable to put this book down and finished it in two days time. I cannot wait for the next novel by Bernadette Marie! As I said in the beginning she has a fan for life!! You won’t regret reading one of her extraordinarily impressive, emotional, beautifully written tales!

Bernadette Marie’s Something Lost, brought my empathy out in full force! I absolutely enjoy the story! Fantastic character development throughout. I was happy, sad, angry, and even cried some while reading Craig and Rachel’s story.
Rachel being a goner the minute she noticed Craig. Craig felt the same but promised his coach, her father, that he would stay away from her. Till one day they got caught. Craig disappeared and withdrew from everyone. Rachel spiraled down a path that almost lost her, her life.
10 years after Craig graduated college he returns to support the Diaz family whose patriarch, and his former college coach, has passed away. While reuniting with his teammates he hears the voice of the one who got away behind him. He’s always loved Rachel and little did he know she’s always felt the same.
The trials and tribulations of the adventures they are about to both embark on, is what kept me reading.
The author created a very real world and realistic story that could happen to anyone. Like I said at the beginning it brought my empathy out in full force. I felt like I knew these people, that I was also part of their friends group. When tears came to my eyes at one point, I knew the author had me. Had me not only push forward in this story to find out what was going to happen, but had me wanting to read anything she has ever written.
The title of it might be Something Lost, but it’s really about Something(s) found!

While there, he reunites with his team as well as the coach’s daughter, Rachel Diaz. Rachel and Craig have a past together. Is there still love there or are these just feelings from the past? Find out in Something Lost! This book was a little harder to get into but worth the read once you get going. Also important to note, there is a suicide mentioned several times in the story. This book is about a second chance for a love that was written in the stars. If two people were ever destined to be together, it’s Rachel and Craig. This is not your typical cookie cutter romance which is something I really enjoyed about this book. Sometimes life gets in the way and people can have a not so pretty past, but if it’s meant to be then love will eventually find a way. There is so much emotion in this book, it takes you from gasping and smiling one minute to tearing up the next. There are some unexpected twists and turns that truly give depth to the story. Bernadette Marie really took me on an emotional roller coaster ride with this one and I loved every second of it! I am so excited to read the rest of this series, and see where it takes the other amazing characters that she introduced during this first book.

I love a good contemporary romance and Something Lost did not disappoint! The bonds of friendship in this book are strong. The team is a group of friends that have had each other’s back for years. They had a great coach that taught them life lessons and one of the players loved coaches daughter once upon a time. Second chance love just tugs at my heart. The story line was great. Something Lost by Bernadette Marie was utterly heart-breaking. I have never cried over a book so hard in my life, and this is something that will stick with me probably forever. While I personally dislike the writing style of this book, the message and the emotion poured into it is unlike any other I have ever read.

From the start of Craig and Rachel you know there will be a lot of uncovering for us to do. They drop hints here and there until Marie dumps it all out at once. The happy parts are overwhelmingly happy, like ugly crying in the office happy. But the sad parts leave you… feeling a little lost. Although my writing preference is way different, this is a book I would recommend to everyone. The depiction of trauma is true and shows the beautiful side, like a person’s support net, and the ugly side like the things you mess up or miss out on.

Something Lost (Funeral and Weddings Series Book 1) by Bernadette Marie

4 out of 5 Stars

In this endearing story, Bernadette Marie introduces us to a team of characters. This story focuses on Rachel and Craig, but without the team the story wouldn’t be the same. The bonds shared between the friends and family in series will keep you coming back for more.

Rachel Diaz, daughter of a beloved basketball coach, is picking up the pieces of her heart once again. Rachel’s father has just passed away. His team, a group of five now men, have all agreed to be pallbearers. The only problem is that the love of Rachel’s life, the one that broke her heart, is one of those five. Craig Turner had dealt with plenty of his own issues. His drunken father that showed up for all of two minutes was part of the reason Craig left town, left Rachel. When he received the call to honor his coach, Craig knew he would see her but was he ready? Does he still love her? Will she even talk to him after ten years apart?

This story of redemption, forgiveness and second chances is heartfelt and wonderfully told. The characters are all regular people just trying to live their lives and find their way. Rachel, Catherine, Alex, Toby, Craig, Ray, and Bruce are interconnected and woven throughout each other’s lives in ways they are just starting to realize. As the series continues, I look forward to reading about each one! I love this casual, cozy series.

It contains suspense, character development, tragic life struggles, loves being brought back together due to unforeseen circumstances, and an amazing group of friends. The author keeps you on the edge of your seat by building the suspense about what happened and where things are going to go. The character development seems genuine and is completely relatable. You can feel the burn that the main characters have for each other, their love makes even the most skeptic people believe in love.

This was a great 5 star read, my emotions were all over the place.
We start with a funeral where five teammates come together to honor their old coach. Craig is one of those five, he hasn’t seen coaches daughter Rachel in years and isn’t sure just how she will be with him. Craig and Rachel were high school sweethearts that didn’t end well.

Rachel invites Craig to meet and catch up and things take off from there. They start to rekindle old feelings. Her brother is very protective of Rchel and isn’t happy about what is happening between them. Rachel has some secrets from the past that need to be shared with Craig. Will they be able to move forward once the secrets are revealed?

Overall this was a good second chance romance. I really liked all of the characters, they added a great element to the story. The author does a great job of pulling you in with her writing. I look forward to reading more from this series. 1-click and get started today.

This is the first book in this series by Bernadette Marie. I really connected to the characters. Coach Diaz passes away and five of his players are called back to be pallbearers. They were his core players when his own son passed away, and he really took them under his wing. It made me really think about the impact we make on other people and the impression we leave. How many people do we lose contact with that were so important in our lives as we grow older and make our own way in the world?
Craig one of the fabulous five and he comes face to face with coach’s daughter, Rachel. She wants to catch up. He is torn, he broke coach’s rule once, Rachel was off limits. Will they find their way back to each other? Or is there too much standing in the way?
I love second chance romances, as I am engaged in mine right now. These always tug at my heart and make me glad that we can choose to open our hearts and love again.

In Something Lost by Bernadette Marie, you are drawn into a wonderful book filled with emotion, heart and beautiful characters you grow to care more and more about with each turn of the page.

Craig Turner attends the funeral of his beloved coach Diaz and reunites not only with his former team mates but also the coaches family, to honour the man who truly meant so much to them all but especially Craig. This proves to be more than he could have ever imagined it to be when Rachel Diaz , the coaches daughter and the one girl to never leave his heart, wants to catch up.
Rachel doesn’t know if asking to catch up with Craig is the right thing to do but she feels as though they have unfinished business. He has always had her heart even though they haven’t seen each other in years. Only time will tell if it is closure she is after or if the years apart have given them the time to grow that they needed to have a real relationship.

I can’t wait to see what is in store next for us in the rest off this fantastic series. I have all ready pre-ordered the rest of the series!!

Rachel and Craig dated behind her father’s back when they were in high school. He was the coach’s star player and she was the coach’s daughter. Once graduation came…they went their separate ways. Craig went one way to try to chase his dream…while Rachel followed her father’s expectations for her and became a high school therapist. Years pass and the two are brought together once again when Rachel’s father passes away.
One thing is certain when these two meet again…their feelings for each other never went away. They have both grown and changed. There are secrets and traumas between them that may stop them from exploring their feelings for each other before they can even begin.
This is a story of love and loss…trauma and healing…friendship and family. I enjoyed Rachel and Craig’s characters and feel like they were people I knew back in high school. The secondary characters are great and I can’t wait to learn more about them in future books. I was pulled into the story from the beginning and didn’t want to let go when I got to the last page. I am hoping that we will get glimpses of them in future books!
