A King So Savage (The Savage Duet) by April Moran – Review by Barbara Bohls

A King So Savage (The Savage Duet #1)A King So Savage by April Moran
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This is an amazing dark read romance. I am such a huge fan of this genre that I couldn’t wait to get started on this book. I was not disappointed. The way the book is written, you can’t help but fall in love with the characters and yes that even includes the villain. This book has everything from the bad boy anti-hero to the horrible past but very resilient and strong girl. The crazy brother thrown in makes for an entertaining story. There is one flaw in the book but it didn’t dismiss from the story or how quickly I read it. The flaw is that sometimes the leading female doesn’t know when to stop “poking the hornets nest,” so to say. She seems to be a little naive to the situation that she is in and can’t quite control what comes out of her mouth. It was a little off putting at first but the further I read the more endearing it became. This was a fast paced read for me because it has everything that I love. The suspense, romance, drama, violence, morally grey lines being tested, and wonderful character development. I was able to escape my everyday surrounding for a few hours while I got lost in this book. I can’t wait to read the second part of this duet. I have a feeling I am going to love that one more than this one because it is a confutation of what I just started.

To Catch An Elf by Debra Parmley – Review by Barbara Bohls

To Catch An Elf: Pennsylvania Fighter PilotTo Catch An Elf: Pennsylvania Fighter Pilot by Debra Parmley
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This book was amazing. It took twists and turns that I didn’t think could happen in a holiday story. It is intense. To start, I already think that elves are a little creepy but this book makes them even more creepy in my mind. I kept turning the pages to see what was going to happen. I couldn’t decided which character I liked more or which one was going on my can’t stand list. The author writes the story in a way that not only makes it flow but also makes you more and more intrigued. Soon you will find yourself trying to figure out what the next move is going to be and almost makes you feel like a detective from your seat. While all this drama is going on there is a sweet, sweet love story going on. You will feel yourself being pulled in different directions, rooting for love, talking to the book because of what is happening, and swooning over just some really cute moments. I highly recommend this book because not only did I not expect what happened to happen but it kept me engaged the whole story and I wasn’t able to put it down. It was a quick read for those reasons.

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This book is such a great way to get into the holiday spirit if you aren’t already or to embrace the holiday spirit more than you already are. This is the collaboration of 11 short stories all centered on the holiday spirit. I wasn’t quite sure what to think when I started reading because of the different authors. Each author has their own writing style and even though this book is composed of short stories, I just didn’t know if it would flow like it a normal book. I was incredibly impressed. The book flowed from story to story but it also had the feel of the same author writing each story. It was a really quick read because of the short stories. I felt like I was on an adventure and making new friends with each story. I highly recommend this book if you are looking to just get lost in a story but maybe not have the time to commit to a full book. These short stories allow for you to leave and come back. I however, couldn’t put it down and kept reading till it was on the last page.

Whispered Surrender (Sinful Duets #1)Whispered Surrender by Via Mari
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This is an amazing read. I love the you don’t have to wait long for the next book in a duet. The fact that this is both books in one makes it so, so, so much better. This book has everything from suspense to steam. I am all about a few really hot bodyguards falling in love. Since they are body guards I both books, you can imagine that there are going to be twists and turns that you don’t see coming. I love when a book can make me think a certain thing is going to happen and then completely blows me out of the water when it doesn’t. I couldn’t put this down until I was done reading it. It has me getting angry along with the characters, shocked by some events, chewing my nails trying to figure out what is gonna happen next, and fanning my face because the heat just pours off the pages. If you like fast paced, jaw dropping stories, this book is for you. If you don’t want to wait to get the next book, this book is for you. I honestly read it and it felt like it was just a continuation, even though there was a focus on other characters. It is seamlessly written and is definitely going to be an author I keep tabs on.

If I could give more than 5 stars, I would. This is an amazing ending to the duet and the entire series. It picks up right where Wicked Games ended. I would not start the series with this book. I think that is a given but I am just saying it. All of the books should be read in order in this series to really grasp onto the characters and their struggles. This book gave me some twists and turn from previous books that I didn’t see coming. It is what kept me on the edge of my seat reading this book. I loved seeing the other characters of the series in this book. I love the secrets that were revealed and it made me fall even more in love with this series. This book has the mystery, the steam, the amazing character development, closure, and suspense that make it a page turner. I couldn’t put the book down. I got mad at anyone who dare try to talk to me while I was reading. It is that good!!!! This series will be one that I will continue to reread, probably every year. I feel that with this book it almost makes you want to reread the whole series just to see if you can pick up on any hints throughout the other books that you missed the first time. This book is highly addictive and into it knowing you aren’t going to get much done but reading.

This story really hits home if you have ever dealt with grief of any sort. The way that everyone in the book is reacting and dealing with their grief, allows the reader to see the various ways that grief can be dealt with. Not all of them are healthy ways but that is what really connected me with the characters because everyone grieves differently. There is a twist that happens in this book which I fell really made the story. It wasn’t expected but was so incredibly well done that I can’t imagine the book without it. The growth that the characters have individually and with each other is amazing and shows how having someone to help you through grief can be beneficial. The forbidden romance that happens is amazing it is a slow burn because of the grief that the characters are dealing with but it is there and it seems organic. This was a quick read for me because I got sucked into seeing how all the characters not just the main ones were handling things and if things would get better over time. This book has it all from relatability, raw emotions, love, steam, and growth. Over all, it is a win and probably something I will read again.

Sea of Demons: A Dark Enemies to Lovers Mafia RomanceSea of Demons: A Dark Enemies to Lovers Mafia Romance by Heidi Stark
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This is not the first book in the series and it does continue on from book to book. I highly suggest reading the first couple books in the series, as it will bring more depth into this book. I didn’t read the other books first and I am wishing that I did. I will go back and read them now because I need to understand the character development and the depth of the story line. This is a dark romance and it does not let you down in that genre. It is also reverse harem with many twists and turns. If you haven’t read the first couple books, y0u will be able to keep up with this but there are already relationships that have been formed that I feel have been covered with their stories in the previous books. That said, I was not lost reading this book and it was an amazing read. It as quick because I couldn’t put it down. There is depth to the plot line that sometimes doesn’t happen with reverse harems because the emphasis is put more on the steam. This book has plenty of steam but it isn’t the driving factor of this book. Well, it wasn’t for me. I highly suggest reading this book and the whole series because if the other books are like this one, I know I won’t be disappointed at all.

The Christmas EscapeThe Christmas Escape by Belinda Williams
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This is an absolutely super cute quick read. It definitely got me into the holiday spirit. It has the, “What will go wrong, does go wrong”; mantra to it. You automatically feel drawn to Lizzie because the writer evokes compassion when writing about her. When she decides to buy her friends ticket to Australia, she could have never fathomed what was about to happen. This where I kept turning the pages in the book. I could not get enough of the setting and wonderful characters. This book will have your swooning and laughing at the same time. The way the author is able to grab your attention and keep it from page one to the end, speaks of how well written this book is. This books gave me Hallmark Christmas Movie vibes and I am here for it. If you want to have an escape or just want something to get you into the Christmas Spirit this is the book for you. I will probably reread this book a few times during the holiday season.

Dark Moon Secrets (Witch Moon #1)Dark Moon Secrets by Lilliana Rose
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This book is a great start to a series. It has everything you could possibly hope for in the beginning of a series. It has mystery, intrigue, steam, character building situations, and amazing visualization of the setting. This book has the supernatural essence down to a science. I loved the turmoil that the characters face in the book. Do they do what they know is right or do they risk everything. They need to figure out what secrets are being kept from them. I loved the way the author brings the magical aspect of the book into the story line. It really just has amazing flow. It really builds for the future books and I can’t wait to read them. This series beginner won’t disappoint with the steam, the magical powers, the flight or fight of the characters, and just being really well written. It is a quick paced read. I was able to get lost into this world of magic and submerse myself in the story. This made turning the pages almost seamless. If you have an afternoon to get lost in a new paranormal world, this is the book for you.

Lost and Found: A Logan McKenna Mystery Book 9 (Logan McKenna Series)Lost and Found: A Logan McKenna Mystery Book 9 by Valerie Davisson
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This is book 9 in the series and can be read as a stand alone book. This whole series is made so you can enjoy reading them in order (for deeper character development) or to read them by themselves. You won’t feel like you are missing anything by reading them out of order or as a stand alone. I am reading each book in the series and I am remind them quicker and quicker with each book. The twists that each book takes is amazing and the character growth is par to none. I like reading about a string female that goes after what she wants and is shown as a protector of those she loves. This books mystery is a kidnapping. As you can expect from this author the scenes feel like they are jumping off the pages and you are watching a movie instead of reading a book. I am not normally a mystery/thriller reader but this series is really good. I found myself trying to solve the mystery with the characters and seeing if what I thought happened really happened. I am not so great at the solving of things but am loving the twists and turns that this book takes. If you have an afternoon to just get lost into a complete mystery that will have y0u second guessing yourself, this is the book for you.

Book 7 in the Logan McKenna Series is just as amazing as book one. You don’t need to read every book in the series and you can start at any book you want. However, once you read one of these books you will be going to read them all. The crazy twists and turns that this book takes will leave you on the edge of your seat till the very end of the book. Just when I thought I was starting to figure out who did what, I was so wrong. I didn’t see the twist coming and that is what really made this book amazing. I love being able to be surprised. Having read the other books int he series, I was really starting to wonder if/when things where going to start repeating themselves. That has NOT happened yet. Logan’s character in this series grows from book to book. She is amazing at what she does and how she just dives into every mystery. She is a supportive friend and very protective of those she loves. This book had me turning pages almost faster than I could read them. I needed to know what happened and then I hit the twist in the book and I didn’t put it down. If you feel like you could be a detective or solve crimes this series is for you. You will constantly be trying to figure out right along with the characters. I can’t wait for the next one.

This book is the 6th in the series and it does not disappoint. The imagery that I have come to love from this author is in full force in this book. Every book in this series can be read as a stand alone but I HIGHLY stress that you read them in order because they are amazing. You will also see the amazing character growth that the author does with Logan. She has bought a house with her significant other and they are working on fixing it up. Then she is meeting her half sister. Then a murder happens. Logan finds herself digging in again. The thing that blows me away is that all of this is happening at the same time. Logan does not live a dull life and she is such a strong female character that I am not used to reading about. I love it. I love that as a reader I am able to follow her journey through things. These books do not disappoint and keeps me turning pages to see what is going to happen. Will she get along with her half-sister, will she be able to solve this murder, will she fix her house up. Its just amazing to me to see how Logan handles everything in her life and still continues to live her life. I am excited to jump into the next book to see what happens with Logan and how bad a$$ she is going to be.

I am just blown away by the way the author is able to describe the scenes in this book. It makes it feel like you are watching a movie or are even in the book yourself. That being said this is the 5th book in the series and each book can be read as a stand alone. I would recommend reading them from the beginning because you are able to see the growth of the main character, Logan. This book takes us to a vacation that Logan, her boyfriend, and adult daughter go on. Personally speaking, I am now wanting to go on a vacation. Maybe, without the mystery in the book but it would definitely make things a little more exciting. This book was a quick read because I just didn’t put it down. I kept turning pages to see what was going to happen and who did what. It is always interesting to see how Logan get involved in all of these adventures. She by any means does not lead a dull life. This is book 4 in the series. This book can be read as a stand alone and you won’t feel as if you have missed anything. Each book has their own adventure/mystery. I would recommend reading them in order though, because you get the whole depth of the character development that happens in the stories. Plus each adventure/mystery is amazing and you don’t want to miss anything that happens. Each book deals with someone in the main characters life. This one is her neighbor. This books deals with domestic abuse. Her neighbor has been in hiding and then is found but the main character gets involved in the danger because she might know something. This book had me turning pages to see what was going to happen, who was going to do what, how was this going to end. These thing kept my attention and had me finishing the book in record time. I have noticed that, I am reading each book in this series faster than the last and I am so excited to be able to go straight to the next one. We are in the third book of this series and they just keep getting better. I know that sounds like what everyone is writing but it is true. There is more background information given in this book than the last but it doesn’t feel as though you are reading the same thing again if you have read the other books in the series. If you haven’t and are just starting with this book it will give you some insight as to what the characters are going through and what has happened. I like that the author does this so anyone can start the series with any book. However, I feel like to get the most out of each book starting at the beginning would be the best to get everything you can out of it. In this book we get to know the main characters daughter. We also get to know sea otters. I know weird but it works in this book and actually really gave me some emotions I was not expecting in this book. There is the adventure and mystery that I have come to love with this author and this series. I couldn’t turn the pages fast enough. I am loving to see what happens next and what adventures/mysteries we will go on in each book.

I was not disappointed by any means. An explosion, what a way to create some drama and mystery. Then the author adds in another element of the Vet. It is like getting two stories in one but the way the author has merged them is flawless. It is amazing. This book grips you from the start. It is written so well that you actually connect with the main character. She is amazing and I am not sure anyone can resist liking her. This book has it all the mystery, the multiple points of view, excitement, and has you turning pages as fast as you can. This is the first book in this series. I wasn’t sure what to expect going into this book and to say that I was pleasantly surprised is an understatement. Well, I am not sure you could say pleasantly surprised since I didn’t have any idea what I was getting into. The way the author writes this book just draws you in. It gives you a great background so you instantly feel connected to the main character. You go through the emotions that she goes through. Her friends are there to help her rebuild and start over. I immediately wanted to be their friends. This is how you can tell great writing, if you feel as if you are one of the group or want to be one of the group. What happens when there is a dead body and the main characters friend is being looked at? This is exactly how things end up. She is a strong female in this book and she decides that she needs to help her friend. This is a series and I feel like we are going to see amazing growth with this character. I can’t wait to see the journey she takes and if her super sleuthing will help her friend. I am also wanting her to find love but that is the romantic in me. She isn’t in the market for that in this book but it is a series so never say never.

This book has everything packed into it. It is an amazing start of a series. This book is a quick read because it sucks you into the characters and the plot. It will have you ignoring what you need to be doing in order to continue reading to see what happens. The character growth is spot on and it doesn’t feel like it is rushed or dragged out. The author gives background information, this allows the reader to have a more complex understanding of the story and the characters. It is written in multiple person point of view, which I love because I feel like it gives you more depth and better understanding why something is happening. The inner turmoil that is presented relatable when dealing with making the right or wrong decisions. Everyone has been there where they wonder if following what someone is telling you to do or your own gut is going to be beneficial. This book has moments of suspense, intrigue, steam, love, and amazing characters with great personalities. This is a very strong beginning of a series book and I can’t wait to read the next one in the series. After reading this book, I have decided that I actually love historical romance. This book is amazingly written and allows you to picture everything non your head with a clear concise picture. What happens when the person chosen to escort you is your brothers best friend but also a huge rake? All of that is described in the book and you won’t be let down. This is a very quick read because the words flow off the pages and you will get caught up in the story. There is a banter between the characters that has me wishing for more. The passion and the chemistry is off the charts in this book. While the steam in the book is amazing, you will also love the story line. I love the way that the character growths also involves the political satire of the time period. This book has so much depth that I am sold on reading everything the author writes. Even though this is the third book in the series, I feel that you could just pick it up and read it. I am going to read the others in the series because I can’t get enough.

This series is becoming one of my favorites and thus author is becoming one that I will read anything she writes. This is the 7th book in the series and these books keep getting better and better. This is the first part of a duet in a series. So, make sure to read this one-first before you move onto the next book. This is also a book that you will want to read the rest in the series before this one, just so you have some background info about this amazing group. This book has everything you could dream of from angst, to steam, to intrigue. Since this is a duet story it does end in a cliff hanger and I normally detest cliffhangers but this one actually makes me want to read the next book, instead of being angry. I suggest that if you absolutely hate cliffhangers that you could wait for the second book to read it but you would be missing out on the start of an amazing story. The enemies to lover vibes that is given will have you turning pages faster than you can read them. The mystery into who did what will have you creating how things are going to go. This book has you wondering if they will figure things out. It also feels like everything is coming full circle with the series. This book is really well written. It is the 8th book in the series and I decided this was the one I was going to start with. You can just start like I did or you can read the whole series. I would highly suggest reading the whole series. I am personally going to go back and read them. I feel like I wouldn’t have been as lost as I was and would have a lot more background information with the characters in this story. However, I was able to pick up on things rather quickly and my lack of knowledge didn’t hinder this books plot at all. The way the main characters grow throughout the story and the steam that they give off is amazing. It is a quick read as I couldn’t put it down. This book has everything from steam, too romance, too crazy vampires. I was highly entertained and found myself a little disappointed when the book ended. I then remembered that I get to read the other 7 books in the series. That made me happy. If you are one that like vampires and steam and mystery, this series seems to have all of that and more. You won’t be disappointed when you pick this book up to read it. Again, I would probably read the first books in the series because I feel like I would have enjoyed the book more had I had more information but it didn’t deter from the story.

This book is a great way to start a series. Shifter romances are not my normal go to for reading. I was not disappointed with this book. The author does an amazing job describing details of the MCs and the settings that you actually feel like you are there as a fly on the wall. All of that being said, this book explores the shifter world of a mountain lion, which I have never heard of before. I probably shouldn’t have been surprised as anything can be a shifter. That is was intrigued me with this book. It was my hook into it. Once I started reading, I was not able to put it down. I kept turning page after page to see what was going to happen or how something was going to end up. It was a very fast paced read and kept me entertained the whole time. I highly suggest reading this series. If you aren’t into the shifter genre, this book is still worth it. If you haven’t dabbled in this genre before, this is a great series to start with.

This is something that I haven’t read about in other shifter books. It is something that I can come into this series and consider a new take on the shifter genre. That said this book was excellently written and very descriptive. I was able to picture everything in my mind like a picture. There are some twists and turns that I didn’t see coming. It definitely kept me turning pages to see what was going to happen and where everything was heading in the story. The romance in this book is spit on for the story. It isn’t too much and not too little. I feel like this book was really thought out. It is part of a series and I would highly recommend reading them all. I was bot disappointed at all while reading this book and I intend on reading the rest of the series. This is a fast paced book and will keep you turning pages. This book drew me in with the blurb that the author wrote about it. I want to tell you, that I was not disappointed. The MC’s are amazingly well written and you can actually visualize everything that the author describes as the settings in the book. The situations that the characters find themselves in are not typical but make complete sense in the book. You know how sometimes things happen and you just can’t imagine it any other way. That is this book. The series of events in the plot are amazing and once you read it, you realize that yep that needed to happen. The character growth is great and that is normally what really draws me into a book but this book it was the plot itself that kept me turning the pages. It is a really good read that had me flipping pages as quickly as I could because I was so engrossed in the storyline. I am actually having a hard time writing this review because I want to spill all the beans about the story but I don’t want to give anything away. That is how you now this book is really, really good. There are many twists and turns. Just when you thin you have everything figured out, boom, n something happens and all y0ur thoughts are gone. I haven’t had a book keep me on my toes like this one did in a while. This book has so many amazing characters that have been described to the point that you can really picture them. It has so many details in the surroundings. This book paints vivid pictures that your mind can actually conjure what the author is describing. It has parts that had me rushing to the next page to see what is going to happen. If you like historical romance with a twist, I highly suggest reading this book. I was pleasantly surprised. I didn’t want it to end.

Mr. Wimp (The Human Mating Site Book 1) by B.L. Wilde – Review by Barbara Bohls

Mr Wimp (The Human Mating Site #1)Mr Wimp by B.L. Wilde
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This book is the start of a new series. It is an amazingly quick read. If I have one complaint it would be that I didn’t want it to end. I wish it was a little bit longer. It is about how to gain our strength after divorce. Well, that is what I took from it. It has some amazing real life scenarios that is relatable to some readers. Not necessarily the divorce but any break up and rebuilding your confidence. Since this is a quick read I feel that the time spent on the getting over the relationship was given the right amount of length. I love he Bella that main character of this book, after her pity stage, was able to go out there and discover what she was missing. It is a journey into self discovery. I really enjoyed the steam, the sass, the humor, and the story overall. I can’t wait to read the rest of this series.

Beyond Friendship (The Irresistible Series Book 3) by Marlyn Love – Review by Barbara Bohls

Beyond Friendship (The Irresistible Series #3)Beyond Friendship by Marlyn Love
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This is the third book in the series but I feel like you would be able to read this series out of order. If you accidentally stumbled upon this book and read it, you wouldn’t be lost and would find that this is an amazing story. The characters are written beautifully that you will feel like they are your besties. There are times that you just want to face-palm yourself because you are the invested in what you’re reading. You will love all the angst that this story brings. The steam is really well written that it just flows off the pages. I found myself turning the pages as fast as I could because I needed to know if the characters will overcome what they are facing and how it will end for them. This is a book you don’t want to miss and I would suggest reading the entire series because you can’t go wrong with reading books that are really well written.

This book is a great escape from the reality of every day life. You will be swept away into a historical fantasy romance. The book will have you turning pages to find out what happens. Not only is the story about romance but, there is adventure, secrets, second chances, mystery, and evolution of characters. You will want to know what happens when two people who met once and couldn’t forget the other one, meet again. It will have you wondering what is going to happen to the traitors in this story and who is it going to affect. Being able to be get lost in the words on the pages and so caught up in the story that you won’t get much done until you finish this book, speaks of how well it was written. This is the first book in the series and it will have you wanting to keep reading every book that follows. I know that I am going to be reading the rest of this series. It has been a long, long time since I have been sucked into a fantasy romance book. I can’t stress enough how amazing this book is and how if you are remotely considering reading, you should just go ahead and do it.

Cruel Love (Hidden Valley Elite #6)Cruel Love by Isla Vaughn
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This book is amazing and will have you hooked from the jump. There is the mystery, the intrigue, the spice, the love, and the character growth. It picks up right where it needs to. If you haven’t read Cruel Hate, you will want to do so before reading this book or you will not know what is going on. I wasn’t sure what to think going into this book based on how the other one left off. I was not disappointed. It was so worth the wait on every sense of the level. The characters are relatable. You are ale to find traits with all of the that resonate with you. These books keep getting better and better with every single one of them. It is a fast paced read because you are sucked into their world and can’t wait to see what is going to happen and who is going to do what. You are going to find yourself sitting on the edge of your seat in anticipation. You just want to be able to scream at the characters sometimes because you are so caught up in the moment. If you haven’t read any of this series, I highly recommend that you do. You won’t be disappointed and it will go on your reread pile. I know that every book is on mine. They are just that good.

Wild For Me (The Balefire Series Book 3) by Tam DeRudder Jackson – Review by Barbara Bohls

Wild For Me (Balefire, #3)Wild For Me by Tam DeRudder Jackson
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

First thing first, this is the third book in the series and each book can be read as a stand alone book. I feel that if you start with book one in the series you will have a better flow but, you don’t have to do that. Each book in the series does a great job at making sure you could pick any of then up and just start reading. Now, for the fun stuff. This book has steam, passion, second chance romance, and obviously the life style of rock n roll. So it has everything to keep you turning pages and not stopping until you finish it. There is humor in this book that actually made me chuckle out loud because you can legit see these things happening in real life. I am not going to say what parts made me giggle because I want you all to experience it for yourselves when you read this book. The character development in this story flows and seems really authentic. The spice is at an amazing level but is still tastefully done. I hope that makes sense. This book has everything in it that I would ever crave from a rockstar romance. It even had things I didn’t know I needed but will now require in other books going forward. This was a quick read because I couldn’t put it down and I know that once y’all start reading it; it will be the same for you. Don’t miss this book or this series, it has become one of my favorites and will be one that I will read over and over again.
