Messenger (Star-Crossed Celestials Book 2) by A.L. Morrow – Review by Barbara Bohls

Messenger (Star-Crossed Celestials Duet #2)Messenger by A.L. Morrow
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This book is amazing. First thing first, you do need to read the first book in this series to understand fully what is going on. I skipped it, however, I will be going back to read it. I mean you can read this book without reading the first but it makes it harder to understand the dynamic between Jase and Cyrus. This book picks up where the other left off and it goes into detail about things but I feel I would have had a fuller understanding of what was happening had I read the first book before this one. That being said, this book is still amazing and I felt myself getting swept away with the story. It brings elements into the concept of Romeo and Juliet. There isn’t much of a resemblance to the actual Romeo and Juliet story because this one is between two males, had supernatural aspects, and really the only thing it has in common with Romeo and Juliet is the forbidden love between the two main characters. That said, it was an amazing spin on a timeless classic piece of literature. The slow burn between the charters that builds throughout the book. You can tell instantly how much they each care for each other and you can also feel, how everyone disagrees with some of their choices. It has angst, suspense, drama, love, and some good steam. You will not be disappointed reading this book if you like celestial, paranormal romance. I just suggest reading the first book in the series before this one so you are all caught up and not struggling to figure out things along the way. However, if you. just want to devour a great book and don’t mind not knowing everything but eventually being able to piece things together, go for it!!! This book will leave you wanting more, so I am excited to go back and read the first one in the series.

Under My Care (Chase Care Book 3) by R.L. Dunn – Review by Barbara Bohls

Under My Care (Chase Care Book 3)Under My Care by R.L. Dunn
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Another book that takes us back to the Chase Care Center. This is also the 3rd book in the series. I will say that I was not disappointed by this book at all. There seemed to be trauma after trauma or something happening at the turn of every page. It made this book a really quick read because I had to keep turning the pages in order to find out what happened next or how they decided to proceed with doing something. The fact that the two main characters had worked together years previously gives you all the feels. The blizzard is only the tip of the iceberg on what happens in this book. If you like a fast paced love story with some steam and intrigue, I highly suggest this book. The characters give the reader everything from heroic actions to dee character growth. I was not disappointed by this book at all and it kept with the others in the series with the amount of action and resolution it has. You can read this book by itself before reading the others in the series, however, having the knowledge from the first two books gives you the back story on how things are and how they came to be. I would highly suggest reading the other two books first because they are just that good and you will want to read every book in this series. It is a fast paced read that kept me turning pages.

The Romanov HeiressThe Romanov Heiress by Jennifer Laam
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This is an amazing historical fiction book. It is normally not my usual genre but I was caught up in the story from the first page. I am not familiar with the characters of this book, so it felt like an actual story but knowing that it is based off of actual figures, blows my mind. I feel like I might have said more attention in history classes growing up if they were presented like this. I can’t speak on how it portrays the charters based upon the actual events but I can say that this book kept me riveted the whole time. The mystery, the intrigue, the feelings these characters have, the dangers that come with being in the time period they are, all make for a page turning book. I understand that this book is only based off of the actual people and events and has a lot of fictional areas to the story. Knowing that doesn’t ready change anything for me because I didn’t know anything about these characters going into it. I highly recommend this book to anyone who loves Russian history, loves a good historical genre book, and who just wants to escape. I will definitely be reading more books like this. I feel it is a good start at getting your feet wet in this genre if you don’t normally read it.

Braving Lily (True Platinum Series Book 7) by Morgana Bevan – Review by Barbara Bohls

Braving Lily (True Platinum, #5)Braving Lily by Morgana Bevan
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This book was amazing. It had funny parts, serious parts, loving parts, and just plain roll your eyes parts. This isn’t your typical rockstar romance. The rockstar in this book is Lily. I love that the female lead is the rockstar and the male lead, Rhys, is just a normal character. They both have been burned before by people that are supposed to love and care for them. Lily takes matters into her own hands and decided to blind date by auctioning off a date with her. Rhys, decides his mother doesn’t always knows what is best for him and doesn’t go on the date. What a way to get the attention of a mega pop star. The is just the beginning of their story and it will have you feeling everything and giggling throughout the rest of the book. It is your typical opposites attract love story because of the fame but they are similar because of their pasts and not feeling good enough. Lily feels used and Rhys feels betrayed. Can these two over come those hurt feelings and make something good happen between them? Will Rhys actually show up for a date with the super star? Can Lily trust someone not to be after her for their own personal gain? These and many other questions are answered in this book. I highly suggest reading it. It is a very quick read and really well written, you will find you are finished with it right after you started it.

Savage Lies: A High School Bully Romance (Hidden Valley Elite Book 1)Savage Lies: A High School Bully Romance by Isla Vaughn
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This book was so incredibly well written that once you start the book it will feel like within a bind of an eye it was done. This book is fast paced and keeps you turning pages as quickly as you can. I almost felt like I was skimming the pages with how fast I was devouring the words. The banter between characters adds to the charm this book has. Yes, I said charm; because even though this is a bully romance it does has a warm feeling of charm to it. The push pull dynamic between the characters is spot on and hit all my feels. There is a prequel to this book but you don’t have to read it in order to pick this one up. I would recommend reading it because it does give some background information that you won’t feel is missing if you don’t know about it but would help if you do know about it. This book does leave you wanting more not only because of how amazing it was but because you actually want to know more and what happens. This book read like a dream and I highly recommend it to anyone who wants a fast paced, jammed packed, bully romance; that can be finished in a few hours. Seriously, you will read it that quickly because you wont be able to put it down.

His Forever Muse (Book 2 of The Echo Series)His Forever Muse by C.R. Alam
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This book left me in all my feelings. It addresses some tough topics but does it with grace. The main characters are pretty much searching their souls to have a more fulfilled life. They haven’t talked to each other in the last 15 years. Obviously a lot can happen in 15 years and this is their journey to see if they can find the love that they both desperately need. The book will get you feeling everything the characters feel. I highly suggest that you get a box of Kleenex’s and a good comfy soft blanket. I wasn’t sure what to expect when I sat down to read this book, but the journey it took me on was one of the best that I have been on in a while. There are the hurdles that the main characters have to overcome to be together. This only helps to heighten the love story that is between them. This is the second book in the series and it does mention the characters from the first which is a great little tad-bit that I fully enjoy. I highly recommend reading this series and even though the characters are mentioned from the first book, it isn’t necessary to read the first one to understand what is going on in this one. That being said, I would highly recommend reading the first one because this series is just that good.

Notebook Mysteries ~ Suspicions (Notebook Mysteries book #5)Notebook Mysteries ~ Suspicions by Kimberly Mullins
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This is book 5 in the series and this is the first book of the series that I have read. That said let’s break it down. I feel that you could just start with this book and be fine. I however, would recommend reading the others in the series so you can understand the characters and their friends/families better. This book has adventures, thrills, and intrigue all weaved throughout the book. There is the storyline of the main characters but in that storyline is the main theme of the book. It is like getting two stories at one time. You are able to deep dive into the main characters and who/what they have gone through but yet still have the thrill of them chasing after a huge, nasty crime circle organization. The book will have you guessing as to who is doing what, what is going to happen next, and what else could these poor kids go through. I didn’t feel much of a lull throughout this book because it constantly kept my attention with what was happening. I had to keep turning the pages to find out what was going on next. I feel that I wasn’t prepared for how amazing this book was going to be. I also find myself going back to the first book in the series to read all of them. I feel like I will have a better understanding as to what drives the main characters. However, you get a good feel for that in the book, I just liked it so much that I need to know more. I highly recommend this book if you like organized crime, mysteries, thrillers, and just good suspense.

This book was amazing!!! It has everything you could possibly want in a book and then some. It has an intriguing story line that will keep you guessing about what is going to happen, what happened to who, and the best question is can they save each other. The characters of this book have suffered throughout their life. Being a professional athlete has it tolls and other things that happen in life all compound into the very best story. The chemistry between the main characters is amazing and the banter that the author indulges the reader on is spot on. It felt as though I was there listening to these people in real life. I did cry while reading this book so please make sure you are prepared. This book was so well written that every emotion the characters felt, I felt. This is the second book in the series but you can read this book as a stand alone and be completely fine. However, if you are like me you are going to want to read the first book because of the way this book made you feel.

Doctor Frank Enstein (Doctors of Eastport General)Doctor Frank Enstein by C.A. King
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This book is a super cute quick read. It has everything that you are looking for in a romance book. It has the misjudgments at the first meeting to the growing of feelings throughout the book. Barbara went to Frank to help her with something that has Frank, who is dealing with some of his own issues, look at things a little differently. This leads to them having a horrible first meeting and yet something blossoms out of that meeting and they can’t seem to stay away from each other.
Reading this book you will get caught up in the building of he characters and their backstories. You will figure out what is bothering Frank and why Barbara needs a plastic surgeon. These two things are key to how they develop their love story. If you have a couple hours that you can sit down and get lost in the small town feel of this book, you wont be disappointed. Also, it never hurts to read about a hot doctor.

Echoing Hearts (Book 1 of The Echo Series)Echoing Hearts by C.R. Alam

This book has everything from drama, some sassiness, and romance. The book is the first in the series by this author. I was drawn in by the synopsis of what the book is about. I love a good feisty book. This story did not disappoint. The main characters from the beginning are real sassy towards each other but yet they have this independence to do things their way which makes it even better. I am a sucker for strong lead characters. Going through what threading female did growing up, it would make anyone jaded when looking at life. This is where most of that sassiness that I love comes form. She is used to doing things on her own to get things done. Meanwhile, the leading male character has had a relatively easy lifestyle compared to the leading female. However, they both bring their own hurts for the past to what they are working with now. They are reluctant to even consider a relationship because of those hurts but like any true romance story they overcome those obstacles. This book had me laughing out loud during certain parts and swooning with others. It does start out a little slow in my opinion, like it is slowing building into what the climax of the book. Normally that bothers me but this time I felt like it needed to start slow for the reader to fully grasp what the characters have bene through. I would recommend taking a day to read this book because you wont be disappointed. It is a true slow burn romance that will have your emotions all over the place while reading.

The Man in Black by L.R. Liverpool – Review by Barbara Bohls

The Man In BlackThe Man In Black by L.R. Liverpool
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This book is completely not in my wheel house at all. I first don’t normally read historical romance or western. That said, this book was amazing. It is a long book but I loved it because it doesn’t feel long while you are reading it. It is a quick read for its length so don’t let that distract your from reading it. The way this book is written is what sells me so much on it. It takes turns that you don’t see coming and has you on the edge of your seat the further you get into the story line. The intrigue that you enter when Simon starts to figure out his sexuality in a time period that it was not common and banned, brings you understanding of what it might have been like during that time. The way things unfold in this book kept my interest the whole way through. The self discovery, the feeling of being bored and complacent, and the will to do something dangerous is what had me hooked, line, and sinker. I am not one to really read westerns or even watch one but this one appealed to me because of the darker nature that was described in the book synopsis. The mystery in the book is there and it is a slow build. I feel like the first few chapters are a little slow but it completely picks up and you find yourself lost int he land of outlaws. The murder mystery will have you guessing every character that is in the story and there are a lot of them. It seems like it could be anyone and the mystery man in black that haunts Simon’s dreams……complete plot twist because it not only gets you thinking in one direction while dropping seeds of doubt in other directions. I found myself not knowing what I thought I knew. This made the book so much, much more than just a story to read. It almost felt as if I was going into this time period and living it right along with the characters. If you have a weekend that you need a break consider this book!! You wont disappointed and don’t let the length scare you off because after the first few chapters, the pages will just continue to turn without you realizing that you are turning them.

Hot For Me (Balefire, #4)Hot For Me by Tam DeRudder Jackson
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This book is amazing!! I love a good rock star genre book and this one did not disappoint. This book is really well written and it almost make you feel as if you are part of the stage crew. You will feel like a fly on the wall during some of the dialogue with the main characters. What could happen when the leading female is invited to open for the leading male character? The characters deal with real life issues and they lean on each other to overcome traumatic events that have happened in the past. There are twists and turns that I didn’t see coming in this book. That in mind it does have some steam but it also has a great story line that you will feel yourself getting worked up and emotional when they characters get emotional. This happens to be the 4th book in the series but each can be read as a stand alone. I have not read the others in this series but if they are written the way this one is, I will be reading them shortly. I love series that follow the characters and you get glimpses of the other characters in each book. It makes it feel like I am becoming friends with the characters. This book kept me turning the pages to see what was going to happen, was the last going to destroy what neither of the characters had saw coming which is falling in love. Does the leading female run when things get tough and the leading man get his heart broken or do they work together to figure things out. You will have to read this book to figure it out. You won’t be disappointed when you do.

Deadly IntentionsDeadly Intentions by Anise Storm
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This book started with steam right out the gate. It has everything that you would expect from a dark romance with mafia. The FMC was set out for revenge and found a lot more than that. The MMC is your typical broody mafia guy with a chip on his shoulder concerning his dad. He also has a huge heart and even though he is seeking a revenge of his own he is always wanting what is right for the FMC. Even if that means going through some things. It is the “I will do what is best for you even if it kills me,” type of vibe. It has page turning adventure and twists that you don’t really see coming but once they are there, you wonder why you didn’t think about that to begin with. The steam is there and it is intense at times but it doesn’t deter from the story line. It enhances the love that you feel growing between that characters. I highly suggest reading this book for some steamy, twisted, traumatic, adventurous fun. It is a page turner that you won’t want to put down.

This book is SPICY!!!! Oh my goodness, this book hit on every level I look for when reading erotica. It has the forbidden love interest, the secret that is being hidden, the burn between main characters, and the writing to keep you turning pages. This book is really well written that you get instantly caught up in the story and are swept away till the end of the book. It will leave you wanting more and more. The spice isn’t the only thing that will keep you turning the pages and fanning your face, there is an actual romance story in this book. Sometimes you get books that are all steam and spice with no depth but this book does not disappoint. There is an amazing romance and love story to add to the steam. By intertwining the love story with the amazing characters and the steam; the pace of this book is quick but it is good. Maybe it seemed quick because I couldn’t put it down.?. There doesn’t seem to be anything that is really not needed in the story and you are constantly getting all things that you need throughout the book. This is only possible with the amazing writing that the author has done. I highly recommend reading this book and I can’t wait for the next one in the series.

This is the second book in this series and it doesn’t disappoint. It can be read as a stand alone so don’t fret. If you enjoy this book as much as I did, you will definitely want to read the first book in the series. To start this book took some turns that I didn’t see coming. The way that the leading female character in the book is introduced to her love interest, completely caught me off guard. It was an amazing twist that you don’t typically see in the sports romance genre. The way that the characters build their interest in each other is by “using” the other person. They each had something to gain from their fake relationship. The leading female hates that she has been put in this situation and is angry with everyone including herself. The leading man is just trying to be a good team mate, so he steps up to help when a teammate tries to hide the lies and save his marriage. What starts as an enemies agreement turns to something else. The slow build in this book is everything. It helps builds the feelings, helps the characters to have growth, and makes for a dang good story. This is an easy to read story that will keep you interested in the plot the whole time. It is all fun and games until a fake relationship isn’t so fake anymore.

This book is hitting me in all the areas that I need from a great mafia book. The main character is a very strong willed and determined female. I love the fact that her name is Luke. She is wanting to be in control of her own life and doesn’t want to feel like she needs to answer to anyone for what she wants in life. Her only downfall (as she sees it) is who she loves. He is dark and mysterious and everything that she feels she doesn’t need in life. It is one of those instances when you know what you want but feel that it isn’t good for you. This causes some tension with the main characters. It is a constant back and forth with them. Each page will have you wondering if they can overcome the issues that are in front of them? Will they be able to see how good they can be together? Will his position really strangle the freedom that she is craving? Those were the things that I constantly asked myself the whole time reading this book and what kept me turning the pages. It is a very steamy dark romance and I ate it up. It has everything from danger to angry love. This book won’t disappoint if you are a regular mafia romance reader. If you haven’t read that genre before be prepared for a steamy bumpy ride. It will be well worth it.

This book is completely different from what I normally read but I wanted a palate cleanser, so to speak. Plus, it is a boxed set and I am a sucker for series and collections. Let’s start this by saying that this collection will take you on an incredible journey that flows really well from book to book. I wasn’t sure what to expect going into this but I was so pleasantly surprised by the way the author took certain aspects of everyday ideas and used them to give you a different view into things or to expand what you already thought you knew. It was a fresh take on things like spirituality, time travel, wisdoms of the world, connections through multiverses, and character development through each book while maintaining mysterious twists and turns. Since, I am not the most educated in Sci Fi, I was not sure how easily I would be able to follow the books or be able to get into the story. It is amazing how the author makes it easy for readers like me to follow along and get just as swept up into the story as if this genre was my normal go to genre. I was intimidated at first because I felt like there was going to be a lot of things that I would have to keep going back to read over just to make sure I don’t forget anything. That is not the case with this collection. The way the author makes sure that things are intricately written but yet in laymen terms make the books even better, in my opinion. I was able to visualize the creativity of the authors words and actually feel what the characters were feeling. This collection has inspired me to read more Sci Fi because I thoroughly enjoyed them. I feel like if you are just starting in Sci Fi or been around reading it for a while this collection would be a great to add.

This book is amazing. It is a short quick read that will keep you wanting more. I am normally not one that likes a cliff hanger but for some reason, I don’t mind it with this book. It is probably because, it was an incredible story that hit on everything I needed in a book. I was definitely left wanting more and feel that even if it did have a definite ending, I would still be craving the next book. IT sets the stage for what seems like an amazing new series. There is character development throughout the book which is something I always hope for. The twists and turns that this book takes surprised me but in the best way possible. There is everything one could hope for in a bully romance; heartbreak, love, angst, twists that you don’t see coming, and will leave you wanting more. This book was not what I was expecting at all. It was way more. This is the third book in the series and I have not read the first two books. I was able to catch up on everything but feel that reading the beginning of the series is going to be really beneficial. However, that doesn’t mean that I didn’t enjoy this book. It hooked me right from the beginning because of the vivid way in which the author writes and creates this magical realm of amazing possibilities. You can almost visual this book to the point of feeling like you are watching a show on the television, rather than actually reading a book. The author takes you on a journey through the whole book which gives you glimpses of paranormal things and magical powers. This book has an amazing narrative and dialogue throughout the book. It isn’t over done with conversations and there are no super long winded narratives that don’t need to be there. The twists and turns this book takes you on will make you feel as if you are on a wonderful rollercoaster and can’t see when the next drop is going to be. It will give you just the right amount of romance for the action that is in the book. It isn’t super heavy in one area but a good combination of everything. It didn’t take me long to read this book. I would have loved more to the story, for it to be longer. The leading female in the book goes through her fair share of trauma before the story really begins. It highlights those life changing events and what has lead her to where she is. She meets the love of her life but there is a huge, HUGE, huge problem with that. Can they overcome that issue and can she figure out what she really wants in life? Those are what you will be asking yourself while reading this book. I finished this book in 2 hours and am really wanting more. There is a slow burn romance that flows throughout the book. This book is the second in the series and I did not read the first book and felt like I could keep up and follow along just fine. However, after reading this book I am definitely going to read the first book. The character development in this book is spot on for you would want in an erotic romance story line. There is plenty of steam to keep y0u turning the pages, making this a very easy quick read for anyone who loves this trope of books. There is emotions here that make you feel close to each character and you love seeing the growth that they go through while dealing with these issues. I felt myself getting caught up in the story line and not really paying attention to what was actually going on around me in my house. So my only disclaimer for this book, is to make sure you have time to finish this once you start or have someone who can make you food and bring you drinks cause you will not want to put it down. Side note, I even got angry at my family when the characters were going through things. So, you will feel the emotions from the book and they will be projected to the people you are around.

I didn’t read the original series and found that I could stay caught up with everything in the book. This book is a romantic suspense genre but I found it to have more suspense than romance. The twists and turn this books takes was everything I didn’t know that I needed. It does have some romance but not as much as I have read in other romantic suspense books. I think that this is great as it will appeal to the romance lover but also the thrill seeker readers. I highly recommend reading this quick read when you are wanting to escape from the day to day. It is well written and will have you constantly turning the pages to see what happens. I am new to this author and will be completing this series along with reading the original series.

Night Hawke (The Hawke Family Second Generation Prequel) by Gwyn McNamee – Review by Barbara Bohls

Night Hawke (The Hawke Family Second Generation #0.5)Night Hawke by Gwyn McNamee
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This is an amazing prequel. It was spicy right from the start of the book. This is such a quick read but it does not disappoint in any way. It gives you a little taste of what is to come in this new series but it definitely leaves you thirsty for more. This book will have you blushing and squirming in your seat. I couldn’t sit down through the whole book because I was so caught up in what was happening with the characters. This book is so well written that you feel like you are part of this whole group and what is happening in the book feels like it happening right in front of you. It is an amazing escape for a few hours (I’m a quick reader) and it will leave you wanting more. You do not have to read the first generations series in order to understand what is going to happen in this series. Sometimes I feel like authors say that but then you find yourself lost in the story line because you just don’t fully understand what is happening. That isn’t the case here. You truly don’t have to read the first generation. However, I have a feeling once you finish this book you will want to because it is that good. It will also help fill the time till the next book arrives.

The Hawke Family Complete Collection by Gwyn McNamee – Review by Barbara Bohls

The Hawke Family Complete CollectionThe Hawke Family Complete Collection by Gwyn McNamee
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This is hands down one of the best collections I have read in a while. I haven’t read anything from this author before, so this way a great way to immerse myself in the books. If y’all are like me you like reading one book after the other in a series. This is amazing cause you can just keep reading and go form book to book without having to search for the next book or wait for the next release. This series takes you on twists and turn that will have you sitting up in your seat a little straighter or even getting angry at the way things are going just to be replaced by complete happiness when things go the way you had wanted them to go. This complete series will have you quickly turning the pages to see what happens and you won’t even really realize that you switched to the next book because the writing is that spot on. It flows so seamlessly from bool to book. I was able to read this whole collection in about 3 days. Granted I didn’t do much of anything else because this story just consumed me to where I would get upset if I had to do anything else but read. These characters are written with so much description that you honestly feel as if they are just your friends but you are watching everything unfold in front of you. There is growth between the charters with not only their emotions but also in the way they view themselves. It is a read that you won’t be able to put down. That said, grab your drinks, snacks, and a great comfy blanket; sink down into your couch and get ready to be transplanted into the whole story of the Hawke Family. It will be worth your while.

Underboss’s Retaliation (Sicilian Gods Book 2) by Via Mari – Review by Barbara Bohls

Underboss's Retaliation (Sicilian Gods Book 2)Underboss’s Retaliation by Via Mari
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This is the second book in the series and it didn’t disappoint. You will find yourself invested in the characters from the very beginning. If you didn’t read the first book in the series, I would recommend it but it isn’t necessary as you will pick up things along the way to fill in the blanks. I think that this series is amazing and is really well written. There is the danger that you would expect in any mafia story but the twists and turns that this books takes are things that even someone like me who reads everything mafia didn’t see coming. The passion that takes place between the characters will have you fanning yourself and blushing at the same time. This book has it all, mystery, conflict, romance, steam, danger, and an everlasting love. If you are a fan of mafia books or just a really good love story, I highly recommend this book. Enjoy reading this book as you wont able to put it down once you start and be prepared to feel all the emotions as the characters, that is how you know it is a good book.

Revenge Never Rests (Tallie Brown Suspense Book 2) by Laurie Lewis – Review by Barbara Bohls

Revenge Never RestsRevenge Never Rests by Laurie L.C. Lewis
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I am not sure where to begin with this book because so much happened. It is amazing and really well written. Everything is in the details. There are so many twists and turns in this book that once you think you figured things out, plot twist, and you are back to square one. This book kept me on the edge of my seat constantly turning pages to see what was going to happen next. The suspense in this book is a slow burn that build throughout the book. This book has so many things going for it that you don’t miss the graphic scenes or foul language, which are normally on my must read lists. I was able to keep a steady pace reading this book. I was able to get sucked into the story line and wasn’t able to stop reading until I was done. This is the second book in the series and while it can be read as a stand a lone, I would highly recommend reading the first book in the series. It will allow you to be able to keep up with characters in the book faster. This can be done without reading the previous book but it will take a few chapters to really understand what is going on. If you do go in without reading the first book in the series, don’t worry the character development and the way the author goes in depth will bring you up to speed. I just recommend it because everything just builds with the characters. If you are looking for a fast paced suspenseful read, I highly suggest this book.

Taming Beckett (The Playmakers Series Hockey Romances Book 1) by G.K. Brady – Review by Barbara Bohls

Taming Beckett (The Playmakers, #1)Taming Beckett by G.K. Brady
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I didn’t know what to expect going into this book. I wasn’t sure if we were going to have an affair that led the main female character back to her family or if the bad boy hockey star was going to ruin a marriage and return to hockey. I know I am shortsighted when those were the only two outcomes I could think of. Let’s begin the journey that I took through this book without giving away anything (it can be done). So going in, I was already a little miffed with this book just because of the before mentioned outcomes that I could think of. I instantly fell in love with Beckett and Paige. They are both facing obstacles that would be tough for anyone to go through. I did not even fathom what was going to happen in this book and I am glad that I decided to give this book a chance. The love story that unfolds throughout the pages is amazing. There are parts of the book that made me wrinkle my nose because I didn’t care for what was happening but I persevered through the book and it has the most amazing ending I didn’t even think would be possible. I have to give this a 5 star rating because the author did an amazing job with touchy subject matter. It really made me realize that there is away more to the picture than just what can be seen in the black and white. They grey area that lives around what can and should be done is where this story thrives. This book made me feel as if I was part of the story. I even got snippy with anyone who tried to dare interrupt me while reading this. The author has shown me that I must give every book a chance even. if I think I know what is going to happen. Whether the ending was one that I predicted or something completely different, when you read this book you will enjoy the journey the characters take and the amount of growth they have. The book is really well written and kept me turning pages. There is some angst, some steam, love, heartache, and growth all throughout this book. You will not be disappointed with this read.

Amaleigha and the Big Idea by Janice Pratt – Review by Barbara Bohls

Amaleigha and the Big IdeaAmaleigha and the Big Idea by Janice Pratt
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This is a super cute story. It can be enjoyed by both little kids and adults. It shows how with a little work big things can happen. I think this a lesson that everyone needs to be reminded of every now and then. The amazing illustrations in this book really help showcase the authors words. This book also touches on being seen as weird to others because the main character is wrapped up in what she loves. It shows that just because people don’t see things the same way doesn’t mean that everyone can’t enjoy them. Amaleigha wants to share her love for the outdoors with the world and her big thinking can help get that accomplished.
This is a super cute short read that has some valuable life lessons that everyone can relate to. I highly recommend reading this book to yourself and your kids.

Beast (Popov Bratva Book 5) by Leslie Georgeson – Review by Barbara Bohls

Beast (Popov Bratva #5)Beast by Leslie Georgeson
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This book is a very easy to read book. It went quickly for me because I couldn’t put it down. The characters grasped me by the heart strings in the very beginning. This book has its share of drama and edge of the seat suspense. The characters have trauma and growth. This book hits on everything that I enjoy in a book. It gives the characters a voice, almost as if they are speaking to the author in person. The details in the book are in a class above most. Being able to actually visualize the events in the books AND feel the emotions that the characters have makes this book one that can’t be put down. You will feel yourself giving off the emotions of the characters to anyone who dares to try to talk to you while reading it. Tears to raging anger and everything in-between is the emotional roller coaster you will go on. I highly suggest this book to anyone who is wanting to escape from their own reality for a little while. Must read!!!
