This is a great holiday read. It is a fast paced story that keeps you turning the pages. This is exactly what everyone needs during the holiday season. This book is just the right length to feel like you can actually read the whole thing during the holiday season. With always being on the go and places to be, this book would be a great companion on road trips to visit families or to just snuggle on the couch for a few hours. The characters have substantial growth through this quick read. There are obstacles that they have to overcome. It has the classic bad boy that everyone loves and gets our blood pumping right away. The holiday traditions helps melt him enough to be able to fall for the girl of his dreams. I can’t stress enough how amazing this short book is. It is a must read for the holiday season.

Defiant Princess (Mafia Elite Prequel)Defiant Princess by Amy McKinley
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This is the book is the starting of the Mafia Elite Series and everything I didn’t know I was missing. It is a book that you won’t be able to put down. It shows the longing of wanting what the main females in the series can not have. It shows the softer side of all of them before everything happens. The innocent and not so innocent lives that they lead with hopes of something better than what has always been done.
This books gives, so many aspects that I didn’t know I needed that make the whole series come together. Without giving away important details just know that when you read this book if you haven’t read the whole series yet, this is the best one to start with because you will have so much more knowledge to move forward in the series. If you have already read the series you will love being able to connect even more to the characters in this series. It will give you so much more background and really let you feel what they are feeling.
This book had me hooked from the beginning and left me wanting even more. I feel greedy wanting more but this series is one of the best I have read in a long time. You will not be disappointed and will love the story lines of each female character. It is a squick read and a major page turner. You will definitely fall in love with the characters in this book if you aren’t already in love with them.

Faultless Love (The Bennetts of Langston Falls Book 1) by KG Fletcher – Review by Barbara Bohls

Faultless Love (The Bennetts of Langston Falls, #1)Faultless Love by K.G. Fletcher
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This is the beginning of a series and I must say it is starting with a strong, strong beginning. If I could rate this book higher than 5 stars I would. Not only was this book written really well, it has an amazing storyline. You would think that having the love of your life thrown in prison would make a girl change her mind and try to find love elsewhere. Not in this story she loves him fierce and waits for him. His whole family is super supportive as well. Don’t get me wrong this book does have some villains in it and they are horrible. I haven’t despised some characters in a book like this is long time. They are just horrible but I love it at the same time. It shows a depth of writing to make the reader feel so many different emotions and to actually despise a character is a pretty hard feeling to portray in a book. So kudos to this book.
The love that is shared between the main characters starts as bittersweet and transitions into full on passion. There are steamy scenes in this book that make you fan yourself. However, the drama is this book is all force and had me turning the pages and trying to read faster than I could just to see what was going to happen. You won’t want to put this book down. I stayed up way past a time that I should to finish this book because I had to know. It builds off of the secondary characters so you start to get a feel for what the next few books in the series are going to be about and it makes you love this story even more.
I would highly recommend this book to anyone who believes in second chances, love a good second chance romance (that never really went away the first time), and loves to despise the bad guy. It is a quick read that will have you sitting on the edge of your seat but will make you swoon with your net breath. I can’t wait to see what happens next in this amazing series.

I Love You Today (The Trading Heartbeats Trilogy Book 2)I Love You Today by Julie Navickas
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This book is the second in the series and did not disappoint me at all. I fell in love with Austin in the first book and this book brought me more into the character that he is. There is nothing like living the dream you always wanted to have something go wrong and then trying to figure out what happens next. I feel that the characters in this book made that journey from what was supposed to be too what is to be, full of adventure, steam, and personal growth. Can love really make someone forget about what they feel is in their blood to do? This the main topic of this book. Don’t get me wrong there are tons of emotions and growth in this book that kept me turning the pages as quickly as I could. I fell in love with this story because everyone wants to believe in a love so strong that the other person would want to give up on everything just to make them happy. However, we all know that isn’t really how things go and this book covers that completely. I laugh, cried, swooned over this story and I highly recommend it anyone who just needs to escape for the day and be wrapped up in an amazing love story. This book can be read as a stand along but I feel for you to fully get the depth of the characters you will want to read the first book in the series before this one.

Ghost Talker (Madame Chalamet Ghost Mysteries #1)Ghost Talker by Byrd Nash
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This is the first book in the series and with the name, I really was surprised by what I found out reading the book. First, I thought that the leading female being called Madame gave me a few different thoughts. Could she be a ballerina, she by all means in my mind had an authoritarian role and was elderly. This was not the case at all she isn’t even 30. She is working with police and talking with a ghost throughout the story. The author does give you a list of characters and pronunciations of everything, which I was grateful for. This is set in the 1900’s and the Madame is met with some people that don’t believe in what she does. However, she doesn’t let that bother her and she gets involved with this case. It takes so many twists and turns that I didn’t even know where the book was going to go. It was the first time in a long time that I was able to completely loose myself in a book. I completely enjoyed this book. It was well written and the characters had superior development. I am eagerly looking forward to the next book in the series.

This isn’t your typical fantasy book, it is way, way more than that. Hassan has such a huge character development throughout the story and the way the author relates the characters culture into the book has helped me understand more than what I thought I knew. This book is very relatable from the emotions that characters feel in the book. The way the author wraps the fantasy around the adventure peeks your interest and keeps you turning the pages. It really helps by putting the fantasy into reality, if that make sense. The flow from normal to fantasy is breath taking. The creatures in the story were so well written that it makes you feel like they really could exist in the world today. This is not my normal genre but I am very thankful that I stepped out of my comfort join because this book hit on some feels that I didn’t know I was missing. It is a must read for anyone looking for an escape.

This is the final books in the Mafia Elite Series. It is the conclusion of everything the author has been building up for. With all of these books you get amazing characters and scenes with so many details that you feel like you are living the situations with the characters. These books make you not want to do anything else but read them. You will get swept away with the mystery, adventure, and steamy love that happens with the characters. I highly recommend that you read Volume 1 first, so you have an understanding of the characters that you will be meeting in these books. You will want to know the background of the people you are going to fall in love with. The strong female leads in these books will satisfy your inner feminist and the broody hot alpha males will appeal to your inner hopeless romanticism. It is literally the best of both worlds. You will be sitting on the edge of your seat and feeling all the emotions that these charters will go through. You will need tissues for the tears, need to scream with the anger, need to gasp with the revelations, and most importantly you will feel included. It is easy to feel like these characters are your friends and honestly I came away from reading this series feeling like I was part of the mafia. That is how you know these are amazing books. This is a definite must read of the year!!!

This book is an amazing start for a new series. I love, love, love mafia books, they are my favs. So, having read a bunch of them, this one rates right up there with some of the best ones I have read. There is the push and pull between characters. There is growth of each character. There is also the amazing set up for future books. I cannot wait to read the next one in this series. How do you work the mafia and keep your mouth shut? How do you keep your head down when that is the last thing you want to do? What happens when feelings start to get involved where they shouldn’t be? These are all the questions that I asked myself while reading this book. Those questions made it a major page turner and kept me on the edge of my seat the whole time. I didn’t put this book down. I actually didn’t even go to sleep until I had finished it. If you love the cocky alpha males of mafia and the feisty good girl that makes their cold hearts melt, this is you next book. Highly recommend this amazingly well written mafia love story!!!

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This is a true romance book with all the twists and turns of what young love can be. This book is about second chance loves and has a triangle situation. The main female in this story goes through one of the most horrible things a woman can go through and during that time she leans on the shoulder of one while being in a relationship with another. She leaves town for years when all of a sudden these two men show back up in her life and she must finally decide who she wants to be with. The comforter or the one that shares her history. I picked who I wanted her to end up with and, well, that didn’t go my way at all. This book is so well written that I didn’t even mind her not picking my front runner. The author ties this story up with a great bow and you just know after finishing it that the other guy is going to have an amazing story in book two. This book had me constantly turning the page and feeling real raw emotions for what the main female went through. I highly recommend reading this book and keeping some tissues next to you cause your heart will ache right along with all the characters.

This book is one of a series that can be read as a stand alone or with the other books. I read this as a stand alone but feel like I could have grasped more of the main characters situation had I read the whole series first. That being said, do not discredit this book. It is an amazing read and kept me turning pages to see what would happen next. The quick wit and banter the main characters have, is what my souls breaths for. I could tell going into this book that is was going to be a page turner. The depth of the characters is something that not all authors can reach. I felt these characters to my core and there is nothing I love more than a great story line with some amazing characters. I like feeling as if I am there with them or part of their friend group and this book gives you that. This was a well written story line that has you turning pages from the get go and not being able to put it down. I do recommend reading the other books in this series because I felt like I could have gotten even more depth from the characters that way. I do plan to go back and read the rest of the series. My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This book is the beginning of a series and can be read as a stand alone. The fast pace, page turning action of the story line will have you sitting on the edge of your seat and dying to find out what happens. Levi has the element of fire meaning he can create, control, and cause fire to happen anywhere at any time. Brooke is your general run of the mill normal human girl with no elemental powers or so she thinks. The mystery that also follows the story line sets up for the other books to follow and I can’t wait. Levi is trying to protect Brooke which is forcing them to spend time together and what happens when people are forced to be in each other proximity in a romance book, yep you got it. The steam happens. This book has it all mystery, action, passion, forbidden love, protection, and chaos. I highly recommend this book to anyone who like paranormal and who like a good romance read. It will keep you high entertained and wanting more. I can’t wait for book two.

Kara Shieldmaiden of Eire (Forerunner book 4)Kara Shieldmaiden of Eire by Jay Veloso Batista
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This book is amazingly written. The details and the historical events that are written about really make you feel like you are there with the characters. I did not read the previous books in this series and you don’t necessarily have to do that but I would highly suggest it. I feel that if I had read the previous ones first, I would be more connected with the characters and the story does progress through each book. Just something to think about before starting this book. The characters are easy to connect with and the adventures that they go on make you feel like you are right there with them. I don’t think I can do the writing style justice. It is amazing the way the author is able to describe things and the amount of detail that is given, is just WOW!!! The multiple perspectives given during the book also helps to bring you further into the story line. The action, suspense, fantasy world, and that is not even the personal emotions you will feel, like heartache, love, and laughter; had me not wanting to put this book down. The author does give a synopsis of what has been happening in the other books and does an amazing job of helping the reader try to keep the names straight of all the characters. I would still suggest reading the other books first. I can only imagine the connection to the story line and characters you would have having started at the beginning. This book did not disappoint and has maybe given me a new genre to discover. I will definitely go back and read the rest of the series. You will continue to turn the pages to see what happens next and before you know it the book will be finished, leaving you wishing for more.

Battling Beckett: A Contemporary Step Brother RomanceBattling Beckett: A Contemporary Step Brother Romance by T. Christensen
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This book is a high 4 star read. The only reason it isn’t a 5 star read is because it took me a bit to warm up to Beckett. He is your typical nasty, rich kid that is just super mean. I feel that if it didn’t take as long as it did to warm up to him then I would have enjoyed the book more than I did. However, that being said, this could be the exact feelings the author is trying to portray. I loved Greer from the get go. She knows that Beckett literally sucks in the personality department but is still attracted to him. It made for almost a bully romance book but it wasn’t quite there. Which is another reason for the high 4 star rating. I feel like it was so close to being a bully romance that it should have a little more angst and then it would be set. I will say that it was an amazing read and I would highly recommend this to anyone who likes the sports romance, enemies to lovers, edging on the verge of bully romance genres. I was not disappointed with the story line, just the growth of Beckett but that is just my opinion.

This book is the second in the series but the first one that I have read. It is definitely a book you can read at any time. This book has it all, suspense, intrigue, forbidden lovers, friends younger sister, and a crazy person. All these things lead to an amazing book. The suspense keeps you on the edge of your seat and turning pages as quickly as you can. The steamy scenes in-between will make you blush and then blush even more because it is written so well you actually feel ,like you are witnessing these events. There were times where I actually diverted my eyes due to what was happening on the pages.
Will the main characters be able to end up together or will someone make sure that doesn’t happen? That is what I was constantly asking myself while reading this book. The past has a way of revealing itself and the damage that it can cause leads to page turning suspense. I highly recommend this quick read to anyone who likes to sit on the edge of their seat and loves some good steamy scenes. I am now going to go read the first book in the series and then probably have a book hang over.

In Plain Sight: A Logan McKenna Mystery Book 8In Plain Sight: A Logan McKenna Mystery Book 8 by Valerie Davisson
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This book is not in my normal wheel house of genre but was an amazing change of pace. I would consider this book an amazing palette cleanser from what I have been reading. That being said, lets get into the nitty gritty of this book (without spoilers of course). Let’s preface this with I haven’t read any other books in this series, so I can in starting fresh. Most times you will need to read the rest of the series to figure things out but I don’t feel like that is the case in this series. Granted after reading this book, I now want to go back and read the rest because it was just that good. Logan is an amazing character with a lot of depth that I didn’t foresee her having. She has an amazing relationship with her husband Ben. She plays a violin that she named (love that). She starts a new job doing something that she feels gives her purpose and is helpful. Then a murder happens to a co-worker. Well, not everyone thinks it is a murder. So, Logan decides to take matters into her own hands and investigate what happened. This book took so many twists and turns that when I thought I knew who did it or what was happening, I turned the page and found out I was completely wrong. It reminds me of the board game Clue. Everyone is trying to figure it out, you go to prove it but then there is another card that is shown and all your thoughts come crashing down. That is what kept me turning the pages and not being able to put the book down. This book is full of mystery, suspense, drama, danger, edge of seat scenes, and an amazing love story. I highly recommend reading this book and I am going to start at the beginning of the series.

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

When friends make deals over a weekly poker game, what could possibly go wrong? That is what you will be asking yourself during the beginning of this book. The twists and turns that this book takes you on aren’t brought on by suspense or mystery but are more emotional than anything else. What happens when the leading female swears she will not date anyone who has money but her friend has another idea. When the leading male starts to let his friends know that he just hasn’t had any luck dating, his friends suggest he go on 4 blind dates and they all come to the agreement that if all his dates go horribly wrong they will let him be. However what both leads don’t know is that their fiends have set them up together and their first date doesn’t go smashingly well at first they do seem to have a connection. What happens when they find out they were set up by their friends? What happens when she learns he has money? What happens when she discovers that not only does he have money but he also draws attention from the media? This book is really well written and was very easy to read. I felt like the characters are completely relatable. I can’t wait to read the upcoming books in this series to see what happens with this friend group. If you have never read a book where you just feel like the characters are your besties, this one will do that for you.

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I am giving this book 5 stars because of the way it was written. There is a bunch of dialogue between the characters, whether it is with someone or just self talk. It is amazing. I felt like I was a fly on the wall reading this and listening to someone’s conversations. The journey that the characters take you on is full of twists and turns, but also love and intrigue. What would you do if everything that you thought was true ended up not being so? Do you believe what you always have or the new information that is being presented. That is what one of the characters must decide and the journey to get to the point is full of self repressed emotions. Doing something that is for an amazing cause and that can help people is what the female lead character did. She did everything for others, giving of herself no matter what the toll it took on her. She taught out someone who might be able to help her and used him to accomplish what she knew was the right thing. How long would you wait for your mate? That is what the lead male needs to decide and even though he knew she was hiding things when they met, what are those things? This book is everything that you would expect in a werewolf paranormal romance but it has an amazing twist that I have yet to come across in any paranormal books I have read. It took a fresh light to a genre that I love and made me love it even more. I did read this in one day because I had to know what happened and I couldn’t put it down. If you are wanting to look at this genre with a different eye, I highly recommend this book. You won’t be disappointed.

What is better than a bad boy romance? Nothing but adding in the mafia, makes it even more better. The main characters in this book are amazing. The lead female is a sassy, bright, intelligent, and beautiful. The lead male in this book is your classic tall, dark and handsome with an edge. He gives bad boy vibes and she is there for it. The way the meet is actual funny and involves pepper spray….Yep, that good. However, that fluke of a meeting is the best thing that could have happened to either one of them. They both have secrets and need each other to overcome them. What looks like two people from two different worlds might just not be the case. This book had me on the edge of my seat the whole time. It was either from wanting to know what would happen next, to laughing, to just being that darn good. I’ve read a lot of mafia books before and I have to say that this one is right up there with my favorites. I will certainly be going back and reading the rest of the series. Between, the page turning suspense, the drama between the characters, the steam, and the final outcome, this book has it all. I highly recommend reading it if you have an afternoon free.

This book was a complete slow burn with a few twists that I didn’t see coming. It was wonderfully written and the characters all had growth throughout the book. Anna has set terms to this “fake” relationship that leave Phillip unsure of how to act or behave. Everything is going swimmingly with these two and their relationship until something happens and Phillip seems to think he knows what is best for all parties involved. These characters are relatable and the dialect that is used throughout the book really makes you feel as if you are in Scotland. I highly enjoyed this book and would recommend it to anyone who loves a sassy female lead. This book is a quick read because it is a constant page turner. This book had a bit of everything and didn’t disappoint. I haven’t read the rest of the series before jumping into this book but I will be reading every book in it now. The book tackles serious issues but with a sense of dignity and class that is not always given in your typical sport romance books. It is based around hockey and the leading male character shows huge growth throughout the story. The leading female character seems to be the perfect match for the main man. She has a job that requires her to pay attention to non-verbal ques from others. This sets the tone for some serious topics which are eye opening and allows you to fully connect to the characters in the book. This was a good quick read but not one that you read and completely forget within a few days. It makes you become fully immersed into the book and the details allow you to feel like you’ve been reading it forever when you haven’t. I don’t mean that in a bad way but when you don’t want a book to end because it is so good, you get that feeing with this one but don’t feel like the books ends out of no where. Moving to a new town can cause anyone some anxiety but throw in missing kids and it just hits different emotions. This is also a prequel to the series and I am hoping it will give some more background into the characters as the series continues. I felt a little disconnect with them during this story but not enough to make a huge difference. The mysteries in the book keep you hooked throughout and turning the pages to see what happens. Victoriously Yours (Titans Of Manhattan #4)Victoriously Yours by Anise Storm
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

The Titans of Manhattan series does not disappoint with this 4th installment. This book is an easy read and a page turner. It takes you on a roller coaster of emotions. The main characters met in high school and a bet led to a series of events that unfolded both good and bad. 10 years later, they see each other again with a job on the line. Can they overcome what happened in high school that changed the trajectory of events for them? Can the hurt ever go away? When the female lead thought she had overcome everything that had transpired just to see the male lead and realize she wasn’t as over things as she thought. This book is really well written and the angst, family issues, torture, secrets and love will have you reading all the way through the night. You want to see what will happen and you become physically and emotionally involved in the progress of the characters. Don’t get me wrong there will be times that you are mad like spitting nails mad but it doesn’t last that long.

Seductively Yours (Titans of Manhattan Book 3) by Anise Storm – Review by Barbara Bohls

Seductively Yours (Titans Of Manhattan, #3)Seductively Yours by Anise Storm

This is the third book in this series and I feel like each one gets better and better. This book takes you on an adventure. What happens when you have a ballerina take to pole dancing? You get one of the biggest guys in New York to take notice. What happens from there……a bunch of things. There is steam in this book!! What happens when that beautiful dancing girl is the girl you happen to have a one night stand with? Guys, this book is amazing!! It is a very easy read. You will find that you are constantly turning pages just to see what happens next. I got embarrassed when the characters did. I got angry, sad, flustered. It was awesome. It also has some triggering sequences in it but I feel the author has been respectful of the situations and did their best to portray a difficult situation for anyone to go through. I highly recommend reading this book and the whole series.

The True Garza (Red Cage Book 3) by S. Ann Cole – Review by Barbara Bohls

The True Garza (Red Cage Book 3)The True Garza by S. Ann Cole
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

First thing first, I did not read the previous books in this series. That being said, this book can be read as a stand alone. You do not need to read the previous books in order to understand what is going on in this book. However, after reading this book you will want to go back and read the other two in the series. That is what I am currently doing. Now, let’s get into the meat and potatoes of this book. It is a really fast read!!! You will fall in love with the characters because of how the author us able to put feelings and actions to words written. I am a strong believer that, “If a book can make you feel what the characters are, it was written amazingly.” This book did not disappoint on that level. This book not only has all the steam you could ever possibly want but it also has mystery. You not only get to experience the quick whit of the female lead but you also get to see the strength of the male lead. Together they are an unstoppable team. You will keep turning the pages to see what is going to happen next or to even just feel the chemistry the two main characters have. It is definitely a book that will make you not quit reading until it is done. So, if you have a day where you can sit on the beach or next to the pool or even just on the couch and read, I highly recommend this book.

Everything to Me (Playing for Keeps Book 2) by Lauren Fraser – Review by Barbara Bohls

Everything to Me (Playing for Keeps Book 2)Everything to Me by Lauren Fraser
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This is the second book in the series but can be read as a stand alone. That is what I did. This book has tons of steam and is a very quick easy read. I got sucked into story right away with how the female lead (Kendall) behaves. She is upfront with all the feelings. The book gives a back story so you can see the growth. I love that Kendall isn’t a push over or a needy female that can tend to happen in some sport romance books. The leading male (Pete) is a perfect example of your typical boy next door. He is kind and follows the bro code of not dating your best friends sister. This book was fast paced and I wish there was a little bit more to the romance of them falling together. I loved that the characters were able to grow throughout the story. The journey that they take feels genuine just a little lacking in verbiage. It really is an amazing book and a very simple read. I feel like I am just being picky with wanting more romance between the two of them. The steam is there and it is a “fan yourself kind of heat.” I do recommend this book for a quick little beach read, I mean if you’re already red from the sun – no one is gonna notice the lush you get while reading some of the scenes in this book.

Collateral Damage (Mafia Elite Series Book 6) by Amy McKinley – Review by Barbara Bohls

Collateral Damage: A Second Chance Mafia Romance (Mafia Elite Book 6)Collateral Damage: A Second Chance Mafia Romance by Amy McKinley
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This is the 6th book in the series and it did not disappoint. There wasn’t as much action as in pervious books in the series but don’t let that sway you from reading it because the twists and turns are there. This book is like walking through a haunted maze in the middle of the night with only the light on your phone. I was constantly sitting in the edge of my seat. I couldn’t get to the end of each page fast enough or turn to the next page even faster. The push and pull between the two characters in the book is a vibe in itself. I don’t normally go for the back and forth with characters. However, with this book I couldn’t get enough of it. I needed more banter and more jabs. It is so, so good. The friendship that builds between them makes it even better when they fall. This book is an easy to read, page turning, won’t want to put down, can’t sleep till it’s finished, and will leave you wanting more. Do yourself a favor and get a great escape into the world of mafia love in its finest.
