LIES-TRUTH-LOVE by Marina Hanna – Review by Barbara Bohls

Lies - Truth - LoveLies – Truth – Love by Marina Hanna
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This book has everything that a reader would want in a romance novel. It makes you ask yourself the question of whether you could continue to love someone after you find out they have lied. Do you want to take that chance on whether they will lie again or even if you are getting the full truth, that is the dilemma that the main female character is facing. The way the story is written, you will feel everything that she is feeling. The words just jump off the pages and turn into emotions that you aren’t prepared for in a book. This is what I loved about the book. I was absolutely able to loose myself in it and kept turning pages because by the 2nd chapter, I was fully invested in what was going to happen. I felt like Olivia was my bestie and we were going to find out what was going on. You also feel yourself rooting for them. Normally when a character lies, I find it hard to forgive them. I struggled with it in this book and you will see why when you read it. I am really trying to not give anything away. Just please, please read this book, you won’t be mad that you did and you want be able to put it down.

This book took me a bit to get into but once I was into it, I was hooked. It does start a little slow but it picked up and I didn’t look back. It did start flowing easily and it became a very easy quick read. It is written from the leading females point of view. There is no switching, which worked in this book; but I do like to have both points of view. The chapters have titles so you get to ponder what they mean for that chapter. The betrayal and scheming in this story is really what got me hooked. I love a good smack down as you will. I love seeing nasty characters fall. lol. The things that Mia goes through is a lot for any one person and it does draw you in to see what else she is going to have go deal with and how she is going to handle it. There is humor in this book as well which is needed when everything keeps happening. Like I said earlier, it does start out slow but picks up and you won’t want to put it down. I would definitely not over look this book. It was a good read.

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This is the second book in this series. I would highly recommend reading these books in order as they will make more sense. I want to spill all the beans about this book but I don’t want to give away spoilers. The enemies to lovers forced proximity genre that this book has, gives a fresh take on it that makes it feel like you’re reading that troupe for the first time. Just like with the first book these authors writing together is seamless. It really feels like one author wrote the whole book. Not only do you have enemies to lovers, you also have secrets that are boiling to come out and tons of steam. The main characters have growth not only for themselves but there is growth together. I love a story where you can see the growth from all avenues. This book is written very, very well and will keep you turning pages to see what happens next, whether that is the amazing steam that seems to just come off the pages or the secrets that you know are coming. There is an air of secrecy in this book that leads the reader to know that she big things are going to be revealed in this book. I highly recommend this book and the first one to anyone who is looking for an escape from reality for a bit. You will find yourself caught up in what is going on that you won’t want to deal with anything other than turning the next page.

This book is amazing. It grabs you from the start and the steam between the characters is off the charts. You will find yourself feeling all the emotions that the characters. It is the tale of the commoner and the prince. Can they have their love or will it be ruined by everything standing in their way? However, that isn’t everything there is about this book. There is steam, intrigue, mystery, suspense, steam, love, vengeance, and of course steam. This was a very quick read for me and is the first in the series. I am excited to read the second book to see what happens. You won’t be able to stop reading this book once you start so please keep that in mind when you begin. You will be swept away with the charm of the prince and the meet cute the they have on the beach. How they fall for each other without any preconceived notions, just plain simple attraction; is what really drew me into the book. It is very well written that you can’t really tell which author wrote what part. It is like they were sharing the same brain while writing this. It makes the reading seamless and flows from one page to the next.

Cruel Hate (Hidden Valley Elite #5)Cruel Hate by Isla Vaughn
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This is the 5th book in the series and when I say these books just keep getting better and better. I truly mean that. Let’s start with the series, you will want to read these books in order. It will help you understand the characters and the situations that are presented in each book. Now, when I say that these books just keep getting better and better with everyone, I truly mean that. The complex characters and plot twists that are presented seem to be more and more captivating with each book. In this book, the plot has some twists and turns that I didn’t see coming and it also has deep character growth. The angst that is expressed in this book is not for the weak of heart. The situationship that is being had between he main characters is something that can be relatable to some people. The growth and development of the situation and the characters will have you turning pages almost as fast as you can because it is that good. This book was a super quick read and kept me glued to the pages. You won’t want to stop reading to do anything else until you are finished with this book. Speaking of finishing this book, there is a cliffhanger but I wasn’t mad at it. Yes, I normally hate cliffhangers but this one I feel really made the whole book. You will have emotions that you don’t know what to do with. This book will sit with you for a few days after you finish reading it and it will leave you craving more because let’s be real, you really, really want to know what happens.

WOW, is all I can say. This book took me through it. It has drama, trauma, romance, steam, friendships, sizzle, and a great plot. The inner turmoil that the main character has, is the center for the book. How he reacts to everything being brought to light about his past and the way he deals with it, is what keeps you turning pages. I couldn’t put the book down. It is the 3 book in the series and there is even a prequel to this series. It would be helpful to read the other books first if you really want an understanding of everything. However, it is not necessarily needed and you will find yourself wanting to read the other books in the series after this if you haven’t already. The books builds and builds and you will get lost in the feelings of the characters. My mood even shifted while reading this book. So be advised that you might need to take a time out from other people while reading this. You won’t want to be disturbed. I can’t give this book high enough praises by the way it handled certain situations and the feelings that it provokes within you. You won’t be disappointed with this book.

This is book two in the series and it is amazing. This book makes it hard for you to stop reading and go do other things. You will find yourself sitting in your chair and not wanting to do anything but get lost in the world of mafia. You will keep turning the pages because you have to know what it next. This book has deep character connections and growth. This also has all the dark mysterious grit that you get with mafia romance. This author is amazing at developing string emotional connections between the reader and the characters; with that you get very deep character growth. This is a fast paced book because the plot keeps your interest and turning the pages. The twists and turns that the book takes will have you on the edge of your seat and scratching your head because you just don’t predict some of them. I highly recommend reading this book if you like mafia romance but more importantly like character development with an amazing plot.

This was a quick read for me and I read it in a day. That said it is an amazing read and grips you from he beginning. You get all the feels straight from the first chapter. You feel connected to the characters refuse. You can relate to either knowing someone like them or because you were one of them in high school. The situation that happens between the main characters in high school sets the tone for the remainder of the book. You will keep turning pages to figure out if the leading female will get over what happened or if the leading male will figure things out and possibly grow up. There is a decent amount of steam in this book that feels natural to the situation. There is character development and growth throughout the book as the characters get older in life. It is a sweet story that has you hooked and rooting for the characters. Even though it is the 4th book in the series it can be read as a stand alone. I haven’t actually read the others in the series and this book makes me want to go and read them all.

This is an amazingly written enemies to lovers trope. I was constantly turning the pages to see what was going to happen next. The hate to hate to maybe like to love is beyond what I was expecting. There are twists and turns that I didn’t see coming but were everything to the story line. The growth of the characters felt organic and not rushed or dragged out. The flow of the book was well done. It didn’t feel like certain scenes carried on or others were rushed. It was a very steady fast pace. Well, not super fast, I just read fast. This book made it hard to put down and I found myself getting agitated at anyone who interrupted me reading. This is how you know it is a good book. I highly recommend reading this if you just want to escape for a few and forget about your day to day.

This is the second book in the next generation of the Hawke Family Saga. I can not get enough of these books. The way this story is written gives you so much to digest. It has amazing characters and you get to see some characters from other stories. The character development is so well done that you feel yourself going through the emotions of all the characters. While reading this you feel like you are right there along with then and going through everything that they are going through. Adding in the forbidden thoughts of your best friends sister, gives the reader just enough intrigue to see how things end up. There are some controversial topics and traumas that the characters work through. This gives the readers opportunity to get gripped into the story. This book is another page turner that you won’t be able to put down. You will want to know what is happening, who did what, etc. This book can be read as a stand alone but you won’t want to. This book is not the first in the series but when I say that it is okay if you haven’t read the others; I actually mean it. The author does an amazing job with making sure that the reader is able to pick up and carry on through the book as if they have read the entire series up to this point. Reading this book gave me all sorts of emotions. First and foremost, at the beginning I did not like Wyatt at all. I just couldn’t get behind him and felt like this book was going to drag on because of it. However, that is not what happened. I actually read this book pretty quickly and got over my dislike for Wyatt throughout the book. He has some redeeming qualities that only Serena and his team mates can help him find and figure out. In this book Serena has a job that requires her creative thinking and always seeming to be on call to handle any bad situation that the team comes across. This sounds like a draining job to me but the way it is written makes me think that maybe in another lifetime I should do this. She deals with a lot in this book not just professional but personally as well. This is where we get to see the character growth of Wyatt in the book. He steps up and helps Serena. This book has a lot to offer the reader. It has the slow burn romance, the character growth and development, the page turning urgency, and it is a quick read that leaves you feeling good after you finish it.

This book has me wanting more and more. The writing grips your attention and the story line keeps you turning pages. This book also kinda piggy backs iff of the Elite Series by this author. It deals with the siblings that have been around but not prominent and now they are. If you like everything tied up with a pretty bow then this not the book to read at the moment. You will want to wait till you have time to read the next book as you are left with a cliffhanger. This book took me through it. It is the continuation of Sky and Damon’s story and you won’t be disappointed with it at all. I love the angst that is Brough forth in this book. It has some amazing character development. I really thought that Damon had growth before but this book makes him turn into something amazing. He digs deep to figure out what he wants and how to get it. He has pure determination to go full steam ahead. Sky is trying to do what she thinks is right and almost makes herself a verbal punching bag for Gia. It is crazy. However, that said, if she didn’t do this, I don’t think the book would be nearly as good as it was. Yes, I got frustrated because, seriously, she didn’t need to be a doormat and stay away from Damon. However, that brought on a layer of tension and angst that I didn’t know I needed. The push and pull of these two make this book a page turner. It was such a quick read because I couldn’t put it down. It has everything that you have come to expect from this author in her stories, the passion, angst, character growth, being able to keep up with other characters in the earlier books, etc. If you haven’t started reading this series yet, you must it is amazing and you will be entertained for hours on end because, you will want to keep reading all the books in the series.

I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book. I felt that it has the push and pull of the main characters that always leads to an epic story. Maria didn’t start out as a favorite character of mine because she seemed almost weak at the beginning but that did change and she had some amazing character growth throughout the story. I did end up really rooting for her and enjoying who she becomes in this story. Oz is amazing and compassionate. He cares a lot about everyone around and almost has a white knight complex. The story makes you feel like Oz would protect anything and everyone he loves from anything they may face. Don’t get me wrong he does have his moments and they just make him more humanized in the story. I had to keep reading this book just to find out what was going to happen. I needed to know not only what happens between them but also the secondary characters in this book are phenomenal. I hoping that they get books as well because they really helped the story flow and me turning the pages. I highly recommend this book to anyone. This book really deals with adult situations and what happens when couples think their relationship isn’t meeting all their needs. a M/M couple wants to expand on their family or have one for that matter. This means opening the doors to situations or ideas that could possibly hurt their relationship or make it stronger. I haven’t read a lot of M/M/F books before so with that said, I feel that this books approaches the subject matter in a safe and educating way. I feel that the author was able to take this relationship and not only make a great story but also inform the readers in something that not everyone is well versed in. That is a true talent. I read this book quickly because I became emotionally invested in what was happening with the couple and how things were going to end. I recommend reading this not in public because the steam is off the charts and made me blush a bunch!!

This book in the series did not disappoint. It was amazingly well written, had great characters and world building, even had the steam that I crave, all while being a little angsty. All of those traits lead to a very fast paced, quick read for me. I couldn’t turn the pages fast enough to see what was going to happen. What would you do if you BFF decided she wanted your crush? That is what happens with this story. The twists and turn, the lies being told, the wanting of someone you know you shouldn’t. It is all in this book. I can’t stress enough how amazing this series is and I feel like with every book that comes out in the series it is just a bit better than the last. Now, I normally state whether you would just pick this book up and start the series. However, this time I am going to say that you should start with the first book in this series because you do meet the characters for the future books throughout the stories, you don’t know how they will play a part in the upcoming books but you get a glimpse of who they are. I also might be biased because I absolutely love this series and think that everyone needs to read it!! If you do find yourself starting with this book in the series (which if we face it sometimes happens). You will be able to follow along smoothly, you just won’t have some background information on the characters. However, you will want to go back and read the other books in the series because you will be hooked. This book caught me off guard. I really wasn’t sure if I was going to like it because I am normally not one that is drawn into the circus theme because I don’t care much for clowns. That said, I was blown away with the elegance in which the writer conveys the storyline. The aerialists in this story really are captivating in the way they are described in this story. I love the determination of the leading female character. She sets her mind to something and runs with it. This book brought out a lot of emotions for the characters that help give the reader a sense of being. It really drew me in and made me feel everything they were feeling. There is suspense, love, danger, and a lot more that I wish I could talk about but don’t want to spoil this for others. Wasn’t sure what to expect going into this book. It is a more modern take on Sleeping Beauty. When I say modern, I mean it in the form of the love interests in this book and the updated surroundings. The reason I wasn’t sure what to expect is because whether we want to admit it or not we all have preconceived notions when it comes to a retelling or even to using the same plot lines just enough to draw reference. There is magic, love, friendship, and fantasy. This version allows for you to take what you thought you knew about a Sleeping beauty story and have it recreated in your mind to the possibility of what it would have been like if the main characters were both males. This story builds and builds which shows character depth and world building scenarios. The magic that is involved isn’t done to where you need a glossary of terms to understand. This made the book enjoyable for me to read. It was classically done with an amazing twist. I highly suggest reading this book to allow yourself the opportunity to reimagine what Sleeping Beauty could be like. It is a quick read that you will find yourself falling in love with the story as it progresses. I highly recommend reading this if you like a twist on a classic.

This is another great book in a great series. This is an age gap romance but it is where the leading lady is older. It is a gripping story that allows you to be able to get caught up in all the action within the first few pages. If you haven’t read the other books in the series, I highly suggest you read those because the characters from those books make appearances in this book. It would also help you to understand their situations as well. This book did not disappoint it has everything from dark intense story line. It has romance and steam all throughout. It is well written that you feel like you are part of the group or at least a fly on the wall to what is happening. I wish that I could go further into detail about what went down in this book but I can’t because that wouldn’t be doing you the justice you deserve by being able to read it without any spoilers. I find that going in knowing that the character development, the dark, twisty suspense, and the romance are all there is better than knowing what actually happens. It leaves an air of mystery to the whole book that will have you turning pages as quickly as you can. It will be an easy read and won’t take much time because of how invested you will be.

I can’t believe that we are already three books into this series. That being said you can definitely read this is a stand alone but seriously why would you want to. You have two other books before this of amazing mafia men that you won’t want to miss out on. Okay, this book is hands down amazing and grips koi to the words within the first chapter. You won’t want to do anything else other than read what is on the pages. You will try to figure things out as you go along but you won’t be able to. That is what I loved the most about this book. When I thought it was going to go one way it went a different way. I am a huge fan of the mafia trope and these books do no let me down. You will find the right amount of suspense, steam, character development, and just honestly good writing. The book brings into the plot the other two books but if you haven’t read them, you will want to. However the author makes it to where you understand what is going on and aren’t left clueless. It is a quick read with the need to finish it in one day. I personally recommend reading the other two books in the series first because I love this series and the mafia men in them. However, if you don’t have time you will be fine. This is a fast paced story that packs a punch. It has mystery and romance which will keep you on the edge of your seat the whole time reading this. The steam in this book may make you blush a little, maybe even have to fan yourself. It’s good. What I really liked was the leading female had a role that is normally given to male characters. She has grit and whit. I love a strong female lead. Don’t think that just because the female lead is strong that the male lead isn’t. He is just as strong and who doesn’t love a good looking firefighter in their stories. This book is semi-relatable because everyone has a crazy ex out there, maybe not to the extreme of his crazy ex. These are just glimpses of what lies ahead for you when you read this story. The suspense and drama that unfolds is completely worth it and will keep yo turning the page to see what happens. It is really well written and flows seamlessly. I can’t wait to read more in the series. Trust me you won’t be disappointed by picking this up to read. It is worth it.

Then some stranger swoops in and tries to protect her. He has secrets of his own. The two together try to navigate things with their powers while keeping them a secret. All while this is going on there is another attack. This attack brings in another male character and causes some tension between the two leading men. They have to figure out who to trust and she has to figure out if she can trust either of them. This is a great beginning to a new series and I am thoroughly looking forward to what happens next. This book will leave you turning pages to see what happens next. It has everything that I look for in a book; suspense, action, paranormal characters, and angst. This book is written in multiple POVs and I feel that it adds different views of things happening in the story. It is a really well rounded book that is a very quick read. It has the main male character being the one you want to have but just can’t. The leading female is still a kicking butt and taking names kind of girl and I am here for it. This book has all the steam that you could possibly want in a high school bully romance. You will have all the answers to everything that you were hoping form book one. It was a very fast paced read because I was constantly turning pages to see what was going to happen next. There is suspense as well which just takes things to the next level for me. I highly suggest reading this when you have a day to dedicate to doing nothing but reading it, you won’t want to put it down.

The Sweet Temptations Trilogy (Sinful Delights) by L.M. Mountford – Review by Barbara Bohls

The Sweet Temptations Trilogy (Sinful Delights)The Sweet Temptations Trilogy by L.M. Mountford
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This trilogy is a very quick paced, fast read. I was verysrurprised with how quickly I was able to read each book. That said, let’s talk about the books in this trilogy. I feel like this has a bit for everyone since every story is a different trope. You may not like them all but you can definitely find one that you do like in this collection. The steam is in full force from the very first story and doesn’t really let up until the end. The plots of each book are there but do happen to get lost in the steam, which I think is intentional. Don’t get me wrong the plots are good for each of these stories in the trilogy. They just seem to take a back seat to the steam. Which in all actuality is what I was expecting to happen during this trilogy. I found it interesting to see what was going to happen to Richard in every story. I loved the continuity that flowed from book to book. Even though the tropes where different, you felt a connection because of Richard being in each story. I would highly recommend this trilogy to anyone who likes steams, enjoys a variety of tropes but keeps the main character, and someone looking for an easy quick read. I was not disappointed in this series at all.

Messenger (Star-Crossed Celestials Book 2) by A.L. Morrow – Review by Barbara Bohls

Messenger (Star-Crossed Celestials Duet #2)Messenger by A.L. Morrow
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This book is amazing. First thing first, you do need to read the first book in this series to understand fully what is going on. I skipped it, however, I will be going back to read it. I mean you can read this book without reading the first but it makes it harder to understand the dynamic between Jase and Cyrus. This book picks up where the other left off and it goes into detail about things but I feel I would have had a fuller understanding of what was happening had I read the first book before this one. That being said, this book is still amazing and I felt myself getting swept away with the story. It brings elements into the concept of Romeo and Juliet. There isn’t much of a resemblance to the actual Romeo and Juliet story because this one is between two males, had supernatural aspects, and really the only thing it has in common with Romeo and Juliet is the forbidden love between the two main characters. That said, it was an amazing spin on a timeless classic piece of literature. The slow burn between the charters that builds throughout the book. You can tell instantly how much they each care for each other and you can also feel, how everyone disagrees with some of their choices. It has angst, suspense, drama, love, and some good steam. You will not be disappointed reading this book if you like celestial, paranormal romance. I just suggest reading the first book in the series before this one so you are all caught up and not struggling to figure out things along the way. However, if you. just want to devour a great book and don’t mind not knowing everything but eventually being able to piece things together, go for it!!! This book will leave you wanting more, so I am excited to go back and read the first one in the series.

Under My Care (Chase Care Book 3) by R.L. Dunn – Review by Barbara Bohls

Under My Care (Chase Care Book 3)Under My Care by R.L. Dunn
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Another book that takes us back to the Chase Care Center. This is also the 3rd book in the series. I will say that I was not disappointed by this book at all. There seemed to be trauma after trauma or something happening at the turn of every page. It made this book a really quick read because I had to keep turning the pages in order to find out what happened next or how they decided to proceed with doing something. The fact that the two main characters had worked together years previously gives you all the feels. The blizzard is only the tip of the iceberg on what happens in this book. If you like a fast paced love story with some steam and intrigue, I highly suggest this book. The characters give the reader everything from heroic actions to dee character growth. I was not disappointed by this book at all and it kept with the others in the series with the amount of action and resolution it has. You can read this book by itself before reading the others in the series, however, having the knowledge from the first two books gives you the back story on how things are and how they came to be. I would highly suggest reading the other two books first because they are just that good and you will want to read every book in this series. It is a fast paced read that kept me turning pages.

The Romanov Heiress by Jennifer Laam – Review by Barbara Bohls

The Romanov HeiressThe Romanov Heiress by Jennifer Laam
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This is an amazing historical fiction book. It is normally not my usual genre but I was caught up in the story from the first page. I am not familiar with the characters of this book, so it felt like an actual story but knowing that it is based off of actual figures, blows my mind. I feel like I might have said more attention in history classes growing up if they were presented like this. I can’t speak on how it portrays the charters based upon the actual events but I can say that this book kept me riveted the whole time. The mystery, the intrigue, the feelings these characters have, the dangers that come with being in the time period they are, all make for a page turning book. I understand that this book is only based off of the actual people and events and has a lot of fictional areas to the story. Knowing that doesn’t ready change anything for me because I didn’t know anything about these characters going into it. I highly recommend this book to anyone who loves Russian history, loves a good historical genre book, and who just wants to escape. I will definitely be reading more books like this. I feel it is a good start at getting your feet wet in this genre if you don’t normally read it.

Braving Lily (True Platinum Series Book 7) by Morgana Bevan – Review by Barbara Bohls

Braving Lily (True Platinum, #5)Braving Lily by Morgana Bevan
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This book was amazing. It had funny parts, serious parts, loving parts, and just plain roll your eyes parts. This isn’t your typical rockstar romance. The rockstar in this book is Lily. I love that the female lead is the rockstar and the male lead, Rhys, is just a normal character. They both have been burned before by people that are supposed to love and care for them. Lily takes matters into her own hands and decided to blind date by auctioning off a date with her. Rhys, decides his mother doesn’t always knows what is best for him and doesn’t go on the date. What a way to get the attention of a mega pop star. The is just the beginning of their story and it will have you feeling everything and giggling throughout the rest of the book. It is your typical opposites attract love story because of the fame but they are similar because of their pasts and not feeling good enough. Lily feels used and Rhys feels betrayed. Can these two over come those hurt feelings and make something good happen between them? Will Rhys actually show up for a date with the super star? Can Lily trust someone not to be after her for their own personal gain? These and many other questions are answered in this book. I highly suggest reading it. It is a very quick read and really well written, you will find you are finished with it right after you started it.
