Delicious Death (Madame Chalamet Ghost Mysteries Book 2) by Byrd Nash. This is such a fun book. I loved the first one so I knew I would enjoy this one as well. Its the story of Elinor who is a ghost talker in the 1800’s and her best friend is a doctor and a woman which is unheard of in that time. Both Elinor and her best friend are looked at as oddities in their time. Elinor is beside herself with excitement because she got an invitation to the Winter Revel’s where Chef’s compete. She is dreaming of all the food she is going to eat. During this event someone tries to kill her father, the King. The Duke who is sweet on Elinor helps her try to figure out who is trying to kill her father. When the prime suspect ends up being one of Elinor’s favorite chef’s she knows she has to prove his innocence. Will she find out who the real killer is before its too late? Read this fun fantasy, ghost read to find out!

Elinor is invited to attend the king’s Winter Revels – where chefs compete for the king’s favor. She is thrilled to be attending because life has been a tad boring, and her favorite chef will be competing! Elinor brings her friend, Dr. LaRue, along so they can both enjoy good food and some relaxation. However, when the king is poisoned and there is trouble afoot, who better to help the king’s man, Duke Archambeau, solve the mystery than Elinor? Can they find the culprit before it’s too late?
This continuation of the series did not disappoint! I feel like I was drawn in even more to the mystery of Elinor and the duke! The other characters and their issues were well rounded and a fantastic addition to the story. I am truly enjoying this author’s work. They explain what is happening well enough that you do not feel inundated with information.

Elinor is a Ghost Talker in league with the Morpheus Group. She works with the local authorities and her friend, Dr. LaRue, who works in the morgue to solve murders. When a man related to the king winds up dead, a crown goes missing, and everything is hanging on both to be solved before it becomes a political nightmare… Elinor finds herself adding yet another accomplice to solve this mystery. The widowed Duke Archambeau is the king’s man, not one to look for help, and definitely NOT a believer in Ghost Talkers. However, as he finds himself in need of Elinor’s help, he can’t help but become a little intrigued by the whole ghost talking thing, as well as Elinor. Will they be able to solve the mystery before it causes political unrest? Can Elinor resist the lure of solving Duke Archambeau’s supposed ghost?
I really enjoyed this book. It was quick moving, well written, and I loved all the characters. I couldn’t help but love Elinor’s frankness with the duke, and how he just didn’t really know what to do with her. I like that they didn’t instantly fall in love, but all signs point to a slow building relationship. This is a fresh hearted and informative read. I am looking forward to reading the next installments of this series. I truly cannot wait to see how their relationship continues to grow!
This is book number two in the wonderful Chalamet Ghost Mysteries series and after reading the first book I could not wait to get my hands on this one. Oh, my goodness, IT WAS BETTER THAN THE FIRST BOOK! I could not believe it. I loved that the location changed and that the author managed to develop the main character even more in this story. I could not put this book down. I read this book until the wee hours of the morning because I had to get to the ending. And it was perfect. Please, please, please do yourself a favor and pick up this book to read.

I really enjoyed this book. I haven’t read the first one so I did feel like I was missing out on a little bit of the backstory, but it didn’t hinder the story at all. The characters were well developed and there was enough going on to add to the list of suspects in the mystery. I did not have it figured out until the culprit was revealed and was surprised. I enjoyed the spunkiness of Elizabeth and also like her commitment to her independence, especially in that era. I also like that her ability to see and communicate with ghosts wasn’t the only way she could solve a crime. It was an enjoyable read and I look forward to reading the next one (and the first one!). The pacing was good and I really didn’t feel that it bogged down anywhere. I really enjoyed it!

This gas lamp fantasy novella is number 2 of a 6 part series that mystery lovers will enjoy.
Mysterious deaths, Royal families, unknown motives, and a chef competition makes this a lively and endearing mystery.
Elinor is a strong main character that appears witty and charming. She’s also quite intelligent which comes through quite clearly throughout the story.
A little ghosts and intrigue makes for a good read. I look forward to reading the next novella in this series.

Byrd Nash delivers one more with the second book in the Madame Chalamet Ghost Mysteries Series, Delicious Death. The reader is taken to the time shortly after the first book. Madame Chalamet and Tristan Fontaine find themselves, again, at the center of a mystery and must work together to solve the crime. This book has a little less to do with ghosts than the first book, but there is still bits and pieces of that paranormal aspect. This second book includes all the drama, mystery, and suspense of the first book! I don’t think the reader necessarily needs to read the first book to understand this one, however, I think having a grasp on the characters introduced before helps the journey progress easier in Delicious Death. Overall, a great, fun read by Byrd Nash!

Byrd Nash is a first time author for me, but I was certainly not disappointed. As the first book in its series, Ghost Talker, introduces the reader to many characters, including Madame Elinor Chalamet and Tristan Fontaine. Chalamet is a medium and sleuth who works with the police in aiding death investigations, while Fontaine is a Duke in service to the king. All of the characters are so well-developed, realistic (especially to the time period), and personable. I found myself cheering when Chalamet triumphed and held my breath whenever there was a suspenseful bit. Ghost Talker is full of suspense, drama, ghosts, paranormal, and even a bit of slow-burn romance. I am moving directly to the second book in this series, because I can’t wait to continue!

Madame Chalamet is such a fantastic character! And her friend, the coroner in charge of the city morgue, Dr. Charlotte LaRue, is my favorite and so atypical of a female in the setting of this story! Back to Chalamet though. Chalamet is a trained medium who can see and speak to ghosts. She lives in a beautiful hotel and often helps Chef Pedersen with his dead boyfriend that creates quite the uproar in the kitchen. She was invited to the Winter Revels in Vouvant to be a guest during the food competition and tries to enjoy her vacation unfortunately it turns into work for her. The king has been poisoned and it’s up to her and the Duke to find the accused culprit while trying to rid a quest of the dead husband who cannot seem to leave the plane of the living. So much is going on and so much more happens in this great masterpiece of storytelling and mystery! No spoilers here so you must read the book! I am such a huge fan of Madame Chalamet from just this one book! The writing is elegant and flows off the page! Easy to read and to find one’s self engaged with all the quirky characters. The storyline is well written and is so easy to just get lost in the times and events of the story. Definitely a must read as we follow along and solve the mystery behind the culprit who poisoned the king, how the dead husband storyline turns out and why did Chalamet bother to save a young woman from a lecherous man. Never a dull moment and one book you will be disappointed when it ends. I now have to read the other 5 books to follow along with Chalamet and her story!
Madame Chalamet continues her professional obligations as a ghost talker day and night in this second Ghost Mysteries novel. I love a series that picks up almost directly where the previous left off, and this one does not disappoint. Elinor Chalamet manages to snag an invitation from the King to a dining competition with the upper crust of nobility and brings along a plus one, her friend and confidant, Dr. Charlotte LaRue, coroner. While enjoying fine dining and the occasional conversation with the un-dead, Elinor and her previous acquaintance, the Duke de Archembeau, servant to the King, discover a plot to harm the King.
Byrd Nash has a knack for moving the plot along quickly while intertwining love affairs, tales of rebellion and clashes of nobility- I enjoyed the first book immensely, the second even more and eagerly look forward to reading the third!

This book is book 2 in the series, We follow Madame Elinor Chalamet, who is a ghost talker, as she attends the Winter Revels for the first time. She and her friend Dr. Charlotte LaRue are put into situations that most of us would run from. As I read, I felt like Elinor, didn’t really feel like she belonged there. There is a romantic feel throughout this book between Elinor and Tristan, (the Duke de Archambeau), do they get together? Read and find out. I will tell you once you start reading this book, you will not put it down until you have finished it.

I absolutely adore Elinor! We are now in book 2 of the Madame Chalamet Mysteries series, Delicious Death. When Elinor attends the King’s Winter Feast, someone makes an attempt at the King’s life. When the Duke thinks he can find the suspect first, Elinor along with her friend, Dr. Charlotte, tries to find out who the culprit is. This book had more of the wit and fun from the first book. We got to see more of the friendship between Dr. Charlotte and Elinor. We also see more of the slow-burn romance between Tristan and Elinor and the issues that their difference in status may cause. This is a well-written continuation of the series and is able to be read as a stand-alone story.

Ghost Talker by Byrd Nash is a fun and witty novella that starts off the Madame Chalamet Ghost Mysteries series. Elinor Chalamet is a medium that is searching for the person that killed her father. While she is hunting for his killer she aids the police when a dead body is found in a canal. This case puts her in the path of Tristan Fontaine, duke de Archambeau. There are nice sparks between Elinor and Tristan. I enjoyed their budding relationship. The writing is wonderful and the characters, are well-written. The ghost story is well-balanced. This was a very good read.

Madame Elinor Chalamet is knee deep in murder, mystery, and ghosts again after being invited to attend the Winter Revel being held in Vouvont. All she wants to do is relax and enjoy the delicious foods being prepared by some of the best chefs around. Instead of enjoying her holiday, Madame Chalamet finds herself face to face once again with the Duke de Archambeau, Tristan Fontaine, and his overbearing mother and sister who criticize her every chance they get.
Madame Chalamet tries to make the best of her holiday and uses her ghost talker powers to help a young girl in a bake shop with her ghostly brother as well as a widow who has her husband’s ghost attached to her. When someone tries to poison the king, Madame Chalamet attempts to solve the mystery but finds herself instead working with the Duke de Archambeau who has taken it upon himself to solve the mystery of the attempted murder of the king.
This was Book 2 in the Madame Chalamet Ghost Mysteries series and builds on the story from the first book. In the first book we are introduced to Madame Chalamet, her sidekick Charlotte laRue, the Duke de Archambeau, and the Duke’s sister and mother, Lady Valentina, and the Duchesse de Chambaux. Lady Valentina and the Duchesse de Chambaux do not think highly of Madame Chalamet or what she does for a living. Madame Chalamet does not live up to their ideals or fall into the same social class as they do and is therefore beneath them.
Book 2 builds on the romantic tension between Madame Chalamet and the Duke de Archambeau. Both try to ignore any attraction to the other because they are from two different social classes and a relationship between them is forbidden. This book is action packed from the beginning with murder, mystery, mayhem, ghosts, suspense, and even a bit of humor. I loved learning more about our beloved characters from the first book and about who they are as well as their strengths and weaknesses. I loved both the historical and the paranormal aspects of the story. This book was very well written, and I cannot wait to read the third book in the series!

Delicious Death is the second book in the Madame Chalamet Ghost Mysteries series. It can be read as a stand-alone but is best enjoyed as a continuation of the series so you can follow Elinor’s development and the slow-burn romance from the start. This series has a gaslamp fantasy feel, set in a fictional world. Elinor’s abilities as a medium help her to solve mysteries as well as helping people who are grieving and having difficulty letting go of those they’ve lost. Delicious Death is a fun read for fans of food, as the story takes place at a competition between six top chefs. Details about the food, and Elinor’s awareness and appreciation of good quality cooking, are essential to solving the mystery. We also hear about the many tasty delights she encounters along the way! Elinor’s medical friend, Dr Charlotte LaRue, accompanies her to the event and proves indispensable, not least to fainting noblewomen. It’s great to see her character developing and she brings some interesting science to the story as we learn about poisons and how they could be detected. This is an entertaining read – a rich fantasy setting with an intriguing mystery and plenty of other storylines flowing through it. The next two books are due to come out in February and April this year and I can’t wait to read them!

This is book two in the series of the gas lamp fantasy genre. I’ve grown fond of Madame Chalamet and her talents for ghost talking. We are introduced into a new city with some new characters and another mystery. There’s a lot of action that doesn’t require Chalamet’s skills as a ghost talker but she sure does get into a mystery. Can’t wait to read book three!

This is book one in the historical gas lamp fantasy series. This is my first time reading this genre. I’m enjoying this novel! It’s set in my favorite time period historically. There’s judacious use of metaphors and impressive world building. I laughed at the use of a woman’s weapon described as man-stopper! Mediums are ghost talkers in the wonderful mystery with a little bit of romance.
Madame Chalamet converses with the dead. She is a professional ghost talker, one who belongs to a society of repute in the ghost talking business, and consults regularly with the gendarme, officers of the law. She does not partake in the dog and pony show by which fraudulent Ghost Talkers swindle the wealthy. It is by her police consulting that Elinor Chalamet finds herself under house arrest with the Duke de Archembeau while dead man is identified as a relative of the Crown and items of political importance are discovered missing
This novel was absolutely riveting- various storylines interwoven with commonalities turned the pages quickly. I look forward to many more Madame Chalamet Ghost Mysteries!
This was a quick, fun read. It is the second story in the Madame Chalamet Ghost Mysteries series and I would recommend reading book number one first, because this one picks up not long after book one ended.. It was fast paced, funny and we go along with the main characters trying to help solve the mystery. I enjoyed this book and well written book. I am looking forward to reading more by this author in the future. Happy Reading!

Fun, quick and easy read for me. It felt like a cozy mystery with a few ghosts thrown in, which makes total sense with Elinor being a Ghost Talker. Being a visual person, I enjoyed picturing each and every scene. This is the second part of a six-part novella, and I read it first for one reason only; I wanted to see if it truly stood alone. In my opinion, it does. I would even feel comfortable suggesting this book to my 16-year-old granddaughter.

I was delightfully surprised by how much I loved this book, even more so than the first! A twist of romance in this paranormal delight made it easy for me to devour this book in a short time, despite the romance part moving a bit slower than the previous novel. I am so in love with how the author puts hard work into developing each and every character in his books, makes it SO much easier to feel like you are a part of the drama in the story. I was happy that this picked up shortly after the ending of the first book and also talks a bit about what happens between the novels. No doubt will I be reading the next book in the series!

As someone who has always been interested in what lies await for us in the afterlife, upon hearing that this series focuses on a medium in the Morpheus Society, I knew it was a no-brainer that I had to read this book. I have always been interested in the 1900s, which is when this book takes place, so enjoyed seeing ‘signs of the times’ throughout the story of a heroine and a duke up against a ghost. I loved the slow-burning romance that takes place between the two main characters, and found other characters you encounter to be well-written as well. I hope to see more of these characters in future novels, this one is certainly not the last that I will read by the author. Delicious Death, here I come!
Byrd Nash has done it again with the second installment of Madame Chalamet Ghost Mysteries. It is filled with humor, mystery, death, and so much more. We pick up not long after the first volume ends and both Madame Elinor Chalamet and her friend, Dr. Charlotte LaRue, are disappointed that there hasn’t been much death. That soon changes as all of Elinor’s worlds quickly collide and she has to work quickly to help solve the mysteries that plague the King’s Winter Revels. While you don’t necessarily have to read the first volume, I highly recommend you do simply because you will have a better understanding of the characters and their relationships. I absolutely adore these novels. They are a quick read and while they do deal with paranormal and death, they don’t tend to be heavy.

This mystery has it all…ghosts, royalty and murder. Elinor is supposed to be on holiday when someone attempts to murder the king. She is trying to solve the mystery before someone else does. I loved that this all took place during a cooking competition to see who is the best chef in the land.

Ever since finishing book 1 in this series I’ve been looking forward to the second and it didn’t disappoint! I love how the author made me feel part of the story and that I was right there with Elinor trying to figure things out. I really enjoyed the angst going on between Elinor and The Duke – the blossoming slow relationship that’s starting between them is a great addition to the story. This was a great novella and I am definitely looking forward to reading more about Elinor in the next instalment!!!

In this delicious book 2 of Elinor’s story; We find Elinor trying to enjoy delicious food in the southern town of Vouvant. Not is all it seems in this town. A young society and a widower have come to Elinor for help. On top of all that someone has tried to poison the king! We follow this wonderful story as Elinor tries to help and solve a mystery all at the same time. Will she do it just in time to save the king? Or will she be bested by the oh-so-frustrating Tristan Fontaine, duke de Archambeau? Just like in book one you are taken for a ride in a wonderful story that does not disappoint!

Supernatural delight Delicious Death is the second volume in the Madame Chalamet Ghost Mysteries series. It was just as good as the first. A Gaslamp fantasy tale that has murder, mystery, ghosts and romance. Elinor is a medium and finds herself needing to solve an attempted royal murder. I love the layers of humour and the slow burn romance. Looking forward to book 3.
