Maria just recently left an unhappy marriage. Sure, she has money, but she has nowhere to live and no plan in place as to what she wants to do. She hasn’t worked the last several years because she hasn’t had to. Now she finds herself trying to figure things out and dragging her daughter along for the ride. She showed up at her sister’s house expecting to find her there to give her comfort and advice. The only thing is her sister is off planning a wedding that she is supposed to be at. She instead finds an attractive man in her sister’s house that she has never seen before. Oz finds himself in a predicament when the lady of the house’s sister shows up at the door unexpectedly. It’s in his nature to take care of those in need and she was clearly in need. They are both heading for a wedding in Louisiana and it’s a win-win for both of them. Maria doesn’t need to travel alone with a child and Oz doesn’t have to worry about his car breaking down along the way. When Maria says that she is willing to finance Oz and his band lines will become blurred. Now she is not only going to be a woman he is wildly attracted to, but she will now be his boss. What will happen? This was a fun story to read. The characters were likeable, but I will say that I couldn’t fathom not having a plan after asking for a divorce. Oz was amazing for taking on his sister’s children after such a tragedy. This story was well written and I look forward to enjoying the rest of the books in this series.

This book has a bit of everything that you would think about being in a paranormal fantasy book. Vampires, Werewolves, Witches and Propehcies seems to show up somewhere. Every author has a different take on how they interact with one another which makes their stories fun to read. This story involves Amber and Chloe who both work at the Natural History Museum and become fast friends. They don’t realize that their lives are entangled due to a prophecy that was recorded over 3,000 years ago. Amber is about to find herself in the middle of something she knew absolutely nothing about. The descriptive detail was everything in this book and it makes you feel like you are part of the story. The author did a good job engaging the audience and bringing the characters to life.

There are a handful of fantasy books I have read and and even smaller portion that have kept me glued to the pages. The fight between good and evil is always such an entertaining topic to read about because everyone has a different perspective. If you haven’t read the first few books in this series I suggest you do so. I myself will be doing so as I started this series with this book and felt a bit lost at times. Even with that it wasn’t too difficult to keep up with what was happening in this part of the story. Overall it was a good read and I will be looking forward to seeing what happens next.

Catrina has one goal, one focus, and that is to make partner at her law firm. Things could possibly get messy when her latest client turns out to be a former one night stand and also a big shot in Hollywood. Nathan may have wanted the fame he is getting in Hollywood but maybe not as much as he wants Catrina. These characters have great chemistry and it definitely leaps off the pages. It definitely keeps you turning the pages and can be read in one sitting.

This was a great continuation of a good series. I can say that normally I am not a fan of novellas because they end rather quickly for my liking. However, I feel like this gave more insight into the characters that we came to know through the Crown Series. I’m not an author of any kind and I could only hope to pull something as imaginative as this series and put in down on paper for millions of people to read. Even though this can be read on its own it does make references to what happens in Crown of Stones so you may want to read those first. I leave that up to each reader though to so as they so choose. Happy reading to all and I hope you enjoy this series as much as I did.

Cecily has two things she really wants to happen right now. She wants to become an actor and be on the same city as her pop star boyfriend. She struggles with keeping their relationship not only long-distance but a secret as well. After landing a gig on a popular daytime soap opera she can’t wait to move to the big city. She has seen all the negative comments left on other people’s social media pages, but hopes that none of that will affect what she is trying to accomplish. After starring in another huge stars music video rumors start to swirl and her relationship with Andrew becomes even more strained than it was. Will she be able to handle all the new found fame and haters that want to see her fail? Or will she have to give up on her career ambitions and start over? I really liked the characters in this series and had fun reading this trilogy. The author does a great job of roping you in and keeping those pages turning as you wait to see what will happen next.

Damon “Demon” Savage may have met his match in Sky. Her best friend Gia has her eyes on Damon, but Damon has his eyes set on Sky. She is willing to play match maker, but what happens when the mutual attraction is too much to resist? I enjoy the banter the characters have in these books. Damon doesn’t have time for distractions and Sky is his biggest one to date. I’m looking forward to the next book to see how this story ties up.

I think I read this whole series out of order but even so I did not feel lost in any way. All three books in this series may be read as a standalone as they all deal with different characters and problems. In this story Jacklyn has just lost her husband to a heart attack. While working her way through he grief she finds that her husband had given their son a substantial amount of money to make his dreams a reality. They owned a flower shop together which she must now take care of, but with her world crumbling down around her how will she survive? She has no safety net for herself and must keep the shop in order to recoup the money that was given away. Her children talk her into going to a retreat but she soon realizes she has been duped and is actually in a psychiatric facility. Will she be able to prove that she is mentally stable and save her home and business? I enjoyed this book, but man did Dusty make me mad. Having a little perspective from working in the Healthcare field I get why he just wanted to put her somewhere rather than deal with his mother. His sister, Rose, just wanted what was best for Jacklyn and to help but her hands were tied. Dusty definitely had some underlying ulterior motives. I know it’s a work of fiction but I couldn’t help getting worked up. Overall though it was another good book by the author.

This is book two in the Millerville series but can be read as a standalone. Even though the story takes place in the same city/town the characters and circumstances are different. Jasmine’s father is diagnosed with a rare lung disease and she is determined to come up with the cash that could potentially save his life. She decides that turning to a life of crime is the easiest way to go but is robbed blind by some bogus officers. Time is running out quickly and she must find a way to make all that money back plus some. What will her plan of action be? And will she be able to get the money in time? This book really does make you question what you will do and how far you’d be willing to go to save your loved one if you have the chance. I don’t think most people would choose to become criminals, but in a world of fiction anything is possible. This was a fun fast paced read and I’m glad I jumped into the series.

This book started out a bit on the odd side for me but as I turned the pages I was hooked. After having set a motel room on fire, and damaging several other, Miranda finds herself at a resort. While there she comes to realize that she has been set up and nothing is as it seems. There is a whole underground operation going on and she is one of the latest test subjects. They have a huge advantage over here since they know everything about her life from the tragedy that happened in her younger year up to the point we read about in the book. She must face her past as well as her fears if she is to find her way out. The question is will she be able to do that? I did enjoy this book. While I felt it started out a bit slow for me it did get better and it kept me turning the pages.

This is the first book I’ve read by this author and I enjoyed the storyline. The characters were good and relatable. I mean, who hasn’t had an ex that was a borderline stalker? While the story and development of the characters could have been expanded upon it didn’t take anything away from the story. If you have an hour or two to spare this could be read in that timeframe. I look forward to reading the next book in the series.

If you enjoyed the story of Cinderella you will also enjoy this retelling set in the 1800s. Our main character, Eleanor Banneker, has been under a spell for the better part of a decade that was cast by her stepmother. She has been desperately wishing for someone to help her, but all seemed helpless until her childhood friend Benjamin Grimm rekindles their friendship. He seems to be the only one immune to the curse as even her own father has been unable to recognize her all these years. Ben has come just in time it seems, but time is almost out. They have until midnight to break the curse or Eleanor and her father will be bound to their current roles for the rest of their lives. Will they be at to break the curse in time? I enjoyed this take on the retelling of a classic tale. I’m unsure if the author purposely did so, but I’d like to think that perhaps the last name of the character Benjamin is a nod to the brothers Grimm? Whether that is the case or not this was still an enjoyable book and I do hope to read more books by this author.

Let me just say that the beginning of the book kind of threw me off, but it got me hooked and had me turning the pages. After 20 years Sloan Hadfield is still trying to recover from the death of her brother. It seems like she has come to terms with it, but she is in the middle of a divorce when she gets the news that her father is about to be out of prison and her mother is being discharged from a mental facility. She has to face her past by going back to her hometown where it all went down. Her brother was never found so she had always wondered if he truly was out there living a good life like her mother has been saying. When another young boy turns up she is determined to get to the truth no matter what. A lot of secrets come out and everyone will be shocked when they finally hear what truly happened. Will Sloan be able to reconcile the past and the present?

Obedience (Ties That Bind Book 1) Audiobook by Liza Snow – Review by Charlisa Wahtomy-Alba

This book was great from start to finish. An age gap, teacher student romance that will keep you entertained. The story flows flawlessly and the voices of the narrators fit very well with the dialogue. I have never seen any kind of performances like the ones described here, but it makes me want to go and watch the live action. Chandler has been a master aerialist mastering his craft over the year in his family’s business. Cassandra saw his perform once and got his autograph after a show which made her want to become an aerialist and to study under him was her dream. He has been waiting for a protege of her magnitude for a long time and now that she has arrived, she has not only captivated the audiences with her performances but his heart as well. Both are keeping secrets from one another which adds to the mystery of the book and keeps you trying to figure out what is happening. If you have children, I will definitely say don’t listen to this in their presence. The steamy scenes are a bit too steamy for little ears. I can’t wait to see what happens in the next book of the series.

While I am a fan of fantasy books it has been a while since I have been completely immersed in one. These books have all been great from start to finish. Don’t get deterred from seeing how many chapters there are because you will be disappointed once there are no more pages to read, you won’t want to the story to end. So in this third and final installment we have losses and victories. His father wants to rule over all as the newly self-appointed Emperor. While he tries to find out the secrets of his people, the Shinree, he continues to add scars to his body every time he uses his magic. In the end he finds that in order to defeat his father he must destroy the Crown of Stones. But what will it cost? I didn’t want to see this series come to and end, but I was NOT disappointed. I was happy to have been put onto this series and I will definitely be re-reading them when I am in need of some entertaining reading.

He has been running from his past, but the past can never be outrun as it sticks with you forever. This was another good book in the Madeline Dawkins series. I like that the author has a few different cases being worked simultaneously but the way she writes never makes you feel lost. Any one of the books in the series can be read as a standalone, you don’t have to read them in chronological order to get any back story. This books deals with a divorce, someone sending poison pen letters to a senior living facility, and a father trying to find his daughter. The team has to split up so all the cases can be worked simultaneously and it will take some coordination and co-operation from each member to keep this well oiled machine running. Will the daughter be found safe? Will they catch the culprit behind the nasty letters and get to reveal his motive? How much more will the wife in the divorce be able to take before she throws in the towel? So many things were going on in this book but it was sure entertaining.

This trilogy is a quick read with lots of steam. They are interwoven and center around Richard and Alice Martin. In the first book, The Babysitter, Richard is tempted by the neighbor downstairs and the family babysitter, Rebecca Blair. She has a crush on him and becomes flirty when he shows up at her door one evening. He begins to have lustful thoughts, but will be able to resist temptation and refrain from acting on them? Book two, The Boss’ Daughter, follows Richard and his boss’ daughter Scarlett. She has evidence of his affair with his babysitter and uses it to get what she wants from him. In book three his wife Alice is the one doing the dirty. She has found out about his encounters and wants to get some revenge. She has fantasies of her own that she had never been brave enough to act on until now. Will the Martin’s marriage survive all the turmoil that has been created or will it be time for them to go their separate ways?

As with the other books in this series that I have read so far this one is just as good. It can also be read as a standalone so you don’t feel lost. Dr’s. Walter and Anderson have crossed paths once again. They had worked together previously in the Air Force and are once again working together at a hospital in Montana. A huge blizzard has moved in and they are trapped. Supplies are being sabotaged and they are having to fight for not only their survival but that of the patients as well. Will they be able to make it out of the blizzard without losing lives? Will they find the bad guys? Follow Rowena and Pete as they not only try to survive the storm, but figure out what the feelings are between them and figure out their relationship.

Doctor Frank Enstein is a well known plastic surgeon but it’s not the real kind of medicine he aspires to do. His real goal for getting into medicine was to help burn patients that suffered traumatic injuries. He jumps at the opportunity to head up the new Burn Unit at Eastport General where he feels he can make a difference. Frank meets a barmaid named Barbara Labomba when he is invited out for drinks with a colleague. She tries to strike up conversation having to do with his old work but he wants nothing to do with it. When he finds out her reason for seeking his advice he seeks her out to not only apologize for his rude behavior but to help her any way he can. One thing Frank was not looking for was a romance but Barbara is not someone he can easily forget. Even though things start off rocky for these two there may be a happily ever after on the horizon.

Moving to a new place isn’t easy, especially when it means moving into a new home with people you don’t even know. Riley’s life got turned upside down when her mother moved them in with her boyfriend and his two boys. She shared a steamy kiss with Cole once and then ran the other way never thinking she’d see him again. Cole is battling the hatred building inside that he has for his father. While their chemistry is off the charts he still doesn’t want to let her in. How will they cope with living together? The story is good, the characters have great development and the author did a great job in keeping me, the reader, interested. I’m looking forward to how this story progresses in the next book.

Just as a fair warning that this book does talk about a sensitive topic so do read it at your own risk. Ben has nothing to gain by slumming it for lack of a better word but he has everything to lose. When he lets himself be talked into going to a party with a few friends he never intended becoming a witness to a S.A. He has carried this guilt of not coming forward with him for forty years and is now finally ready to come forward. How different would his life had been if he had made that call all those years ago? This story is told from Ben’s point of view so we get to delve into his thoughts and emotions. Although he did not speak up for the victim at the time he was ready to right a wrong. This is definitely a story that will have you engaged from cover to cover.

The pranks between Cash and Hollis are harmless until they aren’t. When there is a likelihood that Cash will lose not only his bar but his family’s livelihood he finds himself accepting help from the enemy. Hollis feels that she had a hand in what led to this and wants to fix it. Will these two be able to work cohesivly and make sure the brewery is able to stay in the Brooks family? If you like romantic comedy this one will have you laughing until you cry. Also if you don’t mind the funny looks from your significant other when laughing out loud in a quiet room this is worth it.

Just like the books before we have another great story. If you are a fan of suspense and mystery this is a great series to pick up. In this story, which is the 5th installment of the Notebook Mysteries Series, Emma is working on three different cases. The past will meet the present and relationships will be tested. Will Emma be able to solve the mysteries while keeping her relationship with Jeremy intact? Any one of these books can be read as a standalone but why would you want to only read one? The author does a good job of keeping you engaged in the story and keeping the characters interesting. I’m really glad that I picked up this series and took a chance on this author.

This is book three of the Madame Chalamet series and is just as good as its predecessors. Elinor and Tristan are on the hunt to find out who and why someone has kidnapped the daughter of a nobleman. The nobleman thinks the Society, a group that Elinor works for, is behind it. Will she be able to remain impartial and do some good investigating? What will the fate of Elinor be when she comes up missing herself? How will she dig herself out of this mess? These books are pleasant reads and can be read in one sitting. I felt like the chapters were a bit short but they still packed in a lot of information that kept the story moving forward. While I can recommend this book on its own I strongly feel that one should read books one and two to get a better understanding and feel for the characters.
