Makayla is back for her 4th year at Grave Digger Academy. There is a new headmistress and she has come with a lot of new ideas. There are also a lot of newer students this year and she is unsure who she can trust. This book has a lot of interesting characters that will keep you engaged. The story is a bit fast paced but it doesn’t lack for any sort of details. If you are interested in reading this series I highly suggest you start from book one as they build on one another and you will get the best understanding that way.

Shane and Winters story is here! In this story Shane and Winter meet up again at Thane University, but Winter doesn’t recognize the boy that she once tormented on the playground. Shane on the other hand recognized her immediately. He has revenge on his mind but after they share a kiss he is having second thoughts. All of these books have been great and they all build on the one previously. If you intend on reading any of them you DEFINITELY have to start with book one. The twists and turns of this story will keep you hooked and wondering what happens next. It looks like the next installment of this series could be the conclusion and I can’t wait to see how the author ties it all up.

Jamaica felt that he professor disliked her despite her always participating in discussions, asking questions, and being one of his top students. She absolutely knows that’s the case when she is paired up with the well known football player, Callahan O’Reilly, on a huge project in English. Normally Jamica doesn’t go for any type of athlete, but there is something about Callahan that she can’t seem to ignore. Callahan on the other hand can’t quite seem to get a grasp on Jamaica at first. He thinks she’s feisty and enjoys getting a rise out her whenever he can. She isn’t the typical girl he goes for, but something about her has him intrigued. This was a bit of a fast paced book but it keeps you engaged from beginning to end. As they say opposites attract and these two characters couldn’t be any more different if they tried. I liked the writing style of the author and how the story flowed. The development and growth of the characters was great. If you’re a fan of sports you’ve made a great choice. I can’t wait to read more of this series.

Makayla is back for her third year at Grave Digger Academy, but it may be her last. Not just students but teachers are also going missing. Will she be able to uncover who is behind the disappearances or will she become one of the missing? This has been a fun series to read so far. I have enjoyed the world building and character development the author has produced. I don’t necessarily feel as though you would get lost if you were to read any of the books as a standalone, however it would give you a bit more of the back story if you were to do so. I started this at the beginning and 5/5 I would highly recommend.

This was the first book by this author but I will definitely be checking out more. I’m also new to the M/M stories no matter what the genre so it’s like a whole new world is opening up to me. The story is told from the dual points of view of Mordecai and Lucifer. In my personal opinion it doesn’t always work but it did seem to enhance this story. Lucifer is new to Eden Cove and is eager to find out the mysteries surrounding the manor. He sets out to uncover these secrets and meets Mordecai. Mordecai doesn’t like that someone has invaded their privacy, but they are missing link to something and Lucifer may be it. This was a good and quick read that could have gone on for several more chapters. Even so the author got her point across and told a full story that keeps you entertained from page one.

In Lost and Found the captain of a crabbing boat is washed overboard during a storm at sea. Logan is trying to decipher what is truth and what is fiction while trying to solve this possible homicide, but the more she digs the less she finds. Is it possible it was a mere accident? As with all of the other books in this series this kept me turning the pages to find out what happened next. I really enjoy this author’s writing style and how she has just enough detail to describe what is going on without saying too much to muddy things up. I hope this isn’t the last of this series as I have enjoyed Logan as a character very much and don’t want this to be the end. With any series you want to read from book one however, I seemed to have started this series somewhere in the middle. Any one of the books can be read as a standalone but to get a better understanding of the characters and the authors writing style I suggest you read the first book where Logan McKenna came to life.

Necrosis Audiobook by C.L. Schneider – Review by Charlisa Wahtomy-Alba

I don’t know how a lot of people like to start their day, but I decided that the start of my 8 hour shift at 6am was a good time to start this book. As I was standing at my cart getting medicine ready for a resident I thought that this book would get off to a bit of a slow start, but NO! It started out with something that I never expected. I had to stop what I was doing and just listen to the first few paragraphs thinking oh my gosh, she really did that? It was a good listen and I will most likely actually read the book at some point. I know all of us mothers out there would do anything to protect our children and the main character in this story was no exception. I highly recommend you read the book or at the very least give it a listen.

Logan and Ben have recently bought a fixer upper vacation home on the Oregon Coast. Things are coming along nicely when she receives an email from her half sister Olivia stating that she would like to meet up while she in town on business for a few days. While anticipating Olivia’s arrival her reporter friend gets a call about a dead body found at The Collins hotel. The deceased is Charlotte “Charlie” Collin, 32 years old and in perfect health. Logan finds herself pulled into this mysterious case for two reasons: firstly the home she recently bought was purchased from the deceased woman’s fiancé. Second: the first time she saw her sister in person was when she was being questioned by police. Was this a suicide or murder? Who would have a reason to kill this young woman? Was it her fiancé or someone unknown?<br />Another great Logan McKenna adventure down. This character attracts trouble almost as soon as she walks out her front door, but her knack for being able to find the ins and outs of a case make up for it. This is one series that I have liked from the start and I hope there are more books to come.

I absolutely love this series! Master Sardinia is forced to turn Madria after she is attacked by the shifters. She has strong psychic powers and a necklace that could win this battle for the vampires. The history that Madria’s family has with vampires isn’t all that great so we can safely say she wasn’t too thrilled to be changed. There is of course a lot of action as they get closer to finding the rogues that want the vampires out of power. The magnetic attraction of these two, as well as the others when they found their mates, is great to watch unfold. These stories are well written and engage the reader from page one. While any one of these can be read as a standalone I highly suggest reading from book one. I am eagerly anticipating the next installment.

Mark Sutherland is a reporter for the Chicago Tribune that reports on a little if everything. We met him in the Notebook Mysteries so we know he’s always up for an adventure. The Yukon Gold Rush is happening and Mark is making his way there. As with her other works the author has put together a fun adventure that makes you want to see what happens next. This was a quick and easy read that ties in with her Notebook Mysteries nicely. I hope we get more stories of Mark in the future.

These two keep crossing paths and this time it happens to be in Texas. Both are there on business, but things take a turn when Kiera is kidnapped and is on the verge of going missing forever. She doesn’t know it but Forrest would do anything for her. He shows up in the nick of time but danger is still lurking around the corner. Will they be able to thwart it and be happy? I have enjoyed this series since book one. Every book has had a unique perspective pertaining to the main character particular talents and they have been enjoyable. In The Inquistor we got to see Kiera and Forrest go from being friends to more organically. No insta love here, not that there is anything wrong with that of course. All of these books have been well written and they don’t have to be read in order to understand anything that is happening, although I do highly recommend doing so. Bravo to the author on another amazing book in the WaterFyre Rising series. I can’t wait to read the next installment.

Brian has been living it up and enjoying the bachelor lifestyle. He’s had his share of one night stands and is looking forward to one this particular evening until he discovers who his target is: Amanda. His best friend Nick’s younger sister. As for Amanda she’s back in town and getting ready to launch ladies boutique that she’s been dreaming of opening. These two have been dancing around each other for years, but now it seems the stars have aligned. I have gone and read these out of order as I did not realize this book was part of a series. The author did a great job of holding the attention of the reader and bringing these characters to life. The story can be read as a standalone, but now that I know a few of these characters have stories of their own I want to read them.

Cahki had been kidnapped from her home in the far North to be taken to the Emperor of the Southern Kingdom to be his concubine. She is anything but fragile nor is she a damsel in distress. Sung-jin is the only heir to the southern throne and is looking to dethrone his cruel father. These two come together and create a powerful bond that not even the Emperor is willing to try and tear them apart. There is a big secret that Cahki is hiding and it needs to remain hidden or it could mean the end of her life as she knows it. I don’t know exactly what I was expecting when I picked up this book, but it was not what I expected. The opening of the book was amazing! This forced proximity, enemies to lovers fantasy was great from start to finish. I really enjoyed these two main characters together and enjoyed how their relationship grew organically. Whether or not the magic had anything to do with it I don’t know, but I like to think that it did. Hwarang was a good side character and all three of them were great together. I was sad to see the end of this story, but I can’t wait to read more stories by this author.

This book takes us on the case of a missing girl and trying to figure out who has been taken her. Jolie Murdoch is a new Deputy on the force who is trying to locate her. She stumbles upon the girls father, deceased, and already has a prime suspect. Xavier Hartmann, an ex Marine that got injured by an IED, is the local bartener and the prime suspect in question, but he doesn’t remember anything. Did he do it? While Jolie works the case the true culprit is out there trying to hinder the investigation and keep Xavier from being a free man. Will she be able to solve the case? I love how the author has brought us something new in each book. As always this can be read as a standalone, but why only read one book in the series? The characters also are wonderful as always and there is always such growth as the story progresses. It has been a great ride so far and now I’m on my way to digging into book number four.

FBI agent Liza Bartholomew is back in Eider, Iowa after tracking a scam artist there. She has been tracking this man for years and may finally have him cornered. The town Sheriff, Shane Hamilton, is dealing with a couple homicides and a bunch of arsons. Although he at first stops Liza at every turn it soon gets discovered that their cases may be connected and forces them to work in close proximity. Will they be able to get along well enough to stop the perpetrator? The McIntire County Series has been fun to read. It was a a four book series, and this being book four it looks like the end of the line unfortunately. It is sad the series is over (for now) but I do hope there will be others. This book can be read as a standalone, however as some of the characters are recurring I do highly suggest reading this series from the beginning. I’m sure you will come to enjoy the series just as much as I did.

So far of all the books in the Logan McKenna Series this is by far my favorite one. Logan befriends young, single mother who just moved into her neighborhood. As we know our girl likes to help people, she soon becomes embroiled in this mystery. Her new neighbors, Lori and Shannon, have secrets that they are keeping as close to the vest as possible lest their stalker find them. When Lori is attacked, Logan may hold the only clue to solving the case. She unwittingly draws the attacker ever closer the more she dogs into this young woman’s past. How will she keep herself out of danger this time? This book does touch on the heavy subject of abuse so it may be triggering for some. It is a very well written book and the author did an amazing job as always.

In this story a young she wolf named Jasmine has been successful in saving herself for her fated mate. Her mate however wasn’t as careful. The Moon Goddess has given Jasmine the opportunity to choose her mate or be with the one who would complete her in ways nobody else could. Who does she choose though? I have read many books of werewolf romances and each one has been the same, but different and it just fascinates me. I will say as a warning that the steamy scenes in this book are not suitable for anyone under the age of at least 16. I haven’t read anything by this author before ai picked up this book, but I am definitely looking forward to reading the rest of this series when I some more free time.

This is the 3rd book of the Tessa and Jordan series. As with the other books in the series the author gets you hooked from page one. The story flows well and even though it is quick paced you don’t feel lost, nor do you feel like you are missing any kind of information. Although the characters may seem to dislike each other you can see their connection and how it becomes stronger as their relationship develops. Even though this is part of a series you could read this as a standalone. Come and enjoy the story of how Cade and Lindy started off rocky, but pulled it together enough to discover that they had more in common than they thought.

Vanessa is heading home upon hearing about the death of her uncle. She thinks she is going to a nice, quiet place and will be on her own but boy is she in for a surprise. Upon her arrival not only does she encounter her guardian but her aunt by marriage and her relatives as well are all residing on the premises. There also seems to be a ghost haunting the home which makes her uneasy. Her guardian, Jacob Southall, Earl of Danville, doesn’t want to be bothered with having to take care of her and tries to marry her off. There are those that would like to get rid of Jacob whether their whether their reasons be personal or business to get to Vanessa and her wealth. What Jacob doesn’t expect is to fall in love with her himself. Will these two end up becoming man and wife? This book had many twists and turns that kept me turning the pages. I have read a couple of other books by this author and also enjoyed them. The way she describes the characters and how she has them speak seems to keep with the time period she is writing about. The paranormal aspect of this book kind of threw me for a loop but it was a pleasant part of the story. Of the few books I have read by this author this is by far my favorite so far. If Historical Romance with a touch of paranormal interest you then look no further. The author did an amazing job breathing life into these characters and I look forward to discovering more of her work.

The Logan McKenna Series has been a great adventure. I hate to admit this but ai started reading these books around book four or five and then read books one through three. All have been great and all can be read individually without needing to read any of the others. I do however highly suggest reading all of them because you will fall in love with the characters. This is book two of this series and we see Logan dipping her toes back into the dating scene having started a new relationship. On a trip to Portland, Oregon she makes a new friend in Than, a Vietnamese vet trying to get back on his feet and owner of a food truck. When an explosion destroys Than’s truck, he is one if the main suspects. Logan is determined to help get him cleared as a suspect and find the true culprit. Not knowing anyone on the force in Portland and not having her normal access to any evidence she is on her own. Who can she trust? Will she be able to find this guy before he strikes again?

Poor Logan had recently lost her husband and the life she has known for years. Even though she is grieving, she drops everything to help one of her good friends clear his name when he is accused in the death of a young artist. She throws her all into uncovering the truth so an innocent doesn’t end up in prison. The closer she gets to the truth, the more antsy the real culprit becomes. Will she be able to find the perpetrator before he or she strikes again? This book was a great start to a great series. It will keep you engaged and turning the pages.

A new Otter Rescue has just opened on a plot of land, but there are people who don’t want it there. They’d much rather have condos sitting there. Who wants the Otter Rescue demolished and will they succeed? Logan found herself in the middle of an investigation when she shows up for her shift at the Otter Rescue to find a co-worker deceased and another barely clinging to life. A severe storm is rolling in and she must hurry as her daughter Amy is missing. Will she find her before she perishes as well? This was a fast paced book and it was fun to read. I enjoyed learning about the sea otters. I have always thought they were absolutely adorable, especially how they hold hands when sleeping. The Logan McKenna series if you’re looking for something new to dive into.

Aspen and Phoenix are going through a tough patch in this book. They’ve been in a car accident and Phoenix is missing 5 years of his life. He doesn’t remember Aspen, nor does he remember that she’s carrying his child. They both have their struggles and an uphill battle and both have been resilient, especially Aspen. There are a lot of things that have happened to this couple over the series and you are definitely rooting for them to get their HEA. I can’t believe there are only 2 books left in this series! This author has done an amazing job with these characters. As always I’m looking forward to the next installment.

I bet no medical examiner ever expects remains found under a building would bring a dormant serial killer out of hiding. That’s exactly what happens though after a massive explosion unearths some old bones. Trudy Beasley is the Assistant Chief Medical Examiner in Philadelphia, and she intends to figure out this mystery. Her counterpart, Forensic anthropologist Benjamin Roberts, disagrees that there is a legal reason to try to figure out the truth. Being on the same side they of course work together closely during the investigation and their professional relationship turns into a romantic one. The secrets they have unearthed brings danger to their lives and could potentially spell the end of their newfound romance. Someone intended to have their secrets remain hidden with those bones even long after they were gone. Now though, they must stop the investigation at all costs. Will Benjamin and Trudy be able to stop the killer before they find another victim, or worse become a victim themselves? I am absolutely enjoying this author and her writing style. The characters all go so well together as well. Sure, they are in close proximity with their professions, but the relationships have all grown organically. The twists and turns will keep you turning the pages and anticipating what is going to happen next. This is a great series to add to anyone’s collection.

Hannah Patel is still dealing with the tragic passing of her brother more than a year after he passed. Noone of course ever gets over losing their loved ones, especially if they’re close. She withdrew from everything both personally and professionally. In doing so she unfortunately let her guard down and a man that was obsessed with her was able to get too close. Detective Doyle Murphy is taking a break from working cases as he analyzes whether or not he wants to continue on in this line of work. He becomes Hannah’s bodyguard and is doing his best to keep her safe from her crazy stalker. Due to their forced proximity, Hannah and Doyle have the opportunity to strike up a relationship that starts out innocently enough, but soon turns into something more. This of course causes her stalker to up his game and become even more obsessed with getting her. Will Doyle be able to keep her safe from harm? Will their relationship be able to flourish, or will the crazed stalker get what he believes is rightfully his? This was a great book with a lot of twists and turns. It keeps you turning the pages and anxious to see what is going to happen next. I really enjoyed the characters and growth of their relationship. After reading this book I am looking forward to reading the others in this series.

I did not read the synopsis of this book to know what it about. I chose this based on the cover and assumed that would be some kind of romance involving royalty of some sort. There is royalty and there is romance, but there is also magic. Rowan is an outcast due to his dark magic. The only person he cares about has been attacked by a monster and he sets out to save him. Once his brother is safe a woman who is looking for a prince comes along, as well as a second monster. Now Rowan faces a dilemma, does he hand the woman over to the king? Or does he keep this lady safe? This book is a genre that I don’t often read, but whatever it was about the art on the cover intrigued me. The characters are well developed and keep you engaged in the story as it progresses. Plots twists are always welcome and this had plenty to keep me hooked and wanting to find out what happens next. I’m always glad when I choose a book on a whim and discover a new author. If you like a bit of romance mixed in with some humor and magic, this should definitely be in your collection.

This Time Around Audiobook by Jane Suen – Review by Charlisa Wahtomy-Alba

Katie and Chase were high school sweethearts and seemed destined to be together forever. However, after graduating high school they ended up splitting up, and Katie went to the big city to follow her dreams. Chase did eventually leave himself, but went back to be closer to his brother. When his brother and sister-in-law tragically perished in an accident he became the guardian of his nephew. Now a decade has passed by and Chase’s cousin is getting married. He and Katie are about to be thrown together by his match making cousin and the results could either be disaterous, or turn into a reconciliation. The lead characters in this book were very likeable, and the narrators did an amazing job bringing them to life. I do wish the story had been a bit longer, but I was very happy with how everything turned out for Chase and Katie. This was definitely worth the listen.

When one of her own gets taken out Deputy Rivers is put on the case. Add to that a bunch if robberies taking place and they have to call in the big guns, her former flame Detective Hunt. He thought he was doing her a favor by leaving her when he started being blackmailed, but they’re about to be to be in close quarters once again. Will they keep things strictly professional or risk another broken heart? I have read these books somewhat out of order, but they are all worth reading. It was great to see Deputy Rivers grow as a character and she has grown a lot. I also like the take the author puts into how agent Hunt’s mind works. I have lined myself up to read book 4, but first I must go read these to get a better understanding of everything that has gone on. This is a great whodunit and will keep you guessing as you turn the pages.

In this short book the team is back together again and planning a wedding. Everything is coming along nicely until a party invitation arrives. Normally it probably would not be an issue, but the invite is for a party in Chicage instead of New York. Who is inviting them and why? Of course Emma is suspicious and becomes even more so as she finds out who some of the guests are. Will it truly be a party to remember? And will it be for good or bad reasons? All the books in this series have been great and the novellas just give us a bit more to love. This can be read as a stand alone, but because this is a great series you should start from the beginning. The possibilities are endless for cases and the author hasn’t come to a stopping point yet. I can’t wait to see what Emma and company get up to in the next book.

Everyone experiences PTSD differently and, in this book, the main character, Deputy Nicolette Rivers, is a former marine sniper going through it. She had secrets to hide, but who doesn’t? There are a slew of suicides happening in the little town of Eider and she is one part of the duo that is tasked with solving the cases. Are they connected? Are they really suicides or are they homicides? She would rather work alone, but her partner detective Con O’ Hanlon is not about to leave her to deal with everything on her own. Will they be able to get along long enough to uncover the truth behind all the carnage? This story deals with PTSD. I’m sure that the author had a hard time trying to get all the ins and outs of how PTSD would affect someone, but I feel she did a great job. It was an enjoyable and quick read; I can’t wait to see what happens in book 2.
