Coming Home: The Sequel to Flowers in December by Jane Suen – Review by Kandis Posey

COMING HOME (Flowers in December, #2)COMING HOME by Jane Suen
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Coming Home by Jane Suen was a beautiful but emotional book. It’s a great length for a Friday night read! We get to see the continuation (four months later) of the 2 main characters Connor and Mary Ann. This book also introduces new characters to the story and has multiple POVs. Even though it’s set in the winter time around Christmas I feel like it would be great any time of year. Jane Suen has done an outstanding job writing this book!

Coming Home by Jane Suen is the sequel to Flowers in December. The second installment was just as good of read as the first. This book had such a heart warming story. Small towns and going back home are always my favorite reads. I couldn’t put it down. These are some of my favorite characters in a long time, and I hope we get to see more of them in the future. I really like this author and can’t wait to read what this author writes next. I give this book a solid 5 stars.

Coming Home by Jane Suen is the second installment of the Flowers of December series. It is the continuation of the Connor Norton’s story. He has come back to his hometown during the Christmas holiday, after grieving the loss of his mother. Tom, Connor’s mom’s cat, has been helping him during the grieving process. While in town, he is reunited with Mary Ann, which he would love to rekindle their relationship. Mary Ann is currently in a relationship with someone else, but could a Christmas miracle bring her and Connor back together? This is a short read with a great storyline that will keep you engaged until he end. Keep the tissues handy for this emotional story about love, healing and forgiveness. I highly recommend this series and look forward to more great books by Jane Suen.

Coming Home: The Sequel To Flowers in December is by Jane Suen. This is the continuation of Connor’s story as he comes home for Christmas. This book could be read as a standalone, but I would highly recommend that you read is in order to get the full story. This is a feel good romance, full of up and downs. I was hooked on the very first page and couldn’t put it down until the last. The ups and downs gave me all the feels and I truly enjoyed this story. I highly recommend this book, series and author.

This story picks up four months after the first book (Flowers in December) ends. Our characters go through so many changes from the first book. These characters continue on their journey of life dealing with change, growth, grief, and love. I loved reading more about our characters and meeting others. I have to admit that I am a bit upset with Connor, and his failure to communicate with loved ones. I was happy to read more about these characters!

The story Coming Home: The Sequel to Flowers in December by Jane Suen is a wonderful book that I loved reading. It is the continuing story of Connor Norton. It tells about those he spends time with when he comes home for the holidays. This book is such an emotional one and I found myself with misty eyes at times and a smile on my face at others. It is a story that will pull you in from the very beginning and you won’t want to put down until it is finished. I found myself thinking about the book and characters even after I had read the last page. It is such a joy to read about Connor, Alana, Dottie, and Mary Ann. The author has weaved a story that you feel in both your heart and soul. What do the holidays have in store for the characters? Read this book to find out. This is an amazing tale that you don’t want to miss out on. I highly recommend reading it.

Indecisive people make me twitch. Lie make up your mind. These are life altering decisions here people. Not just where you want to eat. But who could possibly share your life with forever. Conner had me irritated through most of the book. Mary Ann was a little flighty to me. Ron moved too slow. I did like the message Connor tried to get everyone to see. He knew that family was important and that with a little help misunderstandings could be fixed. The author did a great job with bring the lives of the characters together. Shining a spot light on forgiveness.

Coming Home: The Sequel to Flowers in December by Jane Suen has us catching up with Connor. He moves back to his hometown after he quits his job after the death of his mother. There so much that happens just after he gets back into town, including reconnecting with a neighbor after a significant amount of time.

Connor still doesn’t seem to have all of his timing in life back but he’s slowly getting there. But as anyone who has lost someone special the first of everything is the hardest and this is Connor’s first Christmas without his Mama.

I’m hoping to see more of Connor and to see if his timing with a young lady improves to the point of being in tune.

I have enjoyed the series so far even if there are some down parts.

Coming Home is the second book in Jane Suen’s Flowers in December series! I was delighted to meet up with Connor, Tom (the orange tabby of Connor’s diseased mother) … and Mary Ann! Is it going to be the second chance for Connor who is still grieving his mother … The writer has given us a story filled with hope and healing and forgiveness … it is also a story of possibility of a Christmas miracle! I read the story when the holiday season was long gone and the writer’s words took me back to the holiday season when everyone hopes for something special (and someone special)! And you should read the first book before you jump into this one; you will enjoy the ride much more! The writer gives us also the delight of meeting Ron and Norma and Alana again … Close your eyes and you will wonder down the streets of the town with them while getting lost in your imagination! (I pictured the small town in California that I lived in for some years when picturing the small town that the writer has brought us to!) I wonder what will come next …

Before you read this, you must read book one, Flowers in December.
This was a quick read but so much was packed into this story. This book picks up 4 months after the first at Christmas time, but doesn’t need to be read as a holiday read at all.
I don’t want to say anything about this book that may become a spoiler of sorts but this is a must read. It didn’t go the way I thought it was going to and that was surprising.
Can’t wait for more from this author .

Coming Home by Jane Suen
My rating: 5 out of 5 stars

This is such a sweet book. Jane Suen can always make me smile or get a quick book fix. This story had about five characters to follow, each with their own story and hardship.

Mary Ann is seeing Ron after Conner leaves and doesn’t speak to her for four months, so she has moved on. Connor is back in town and wants to see Mary Ann desperately and possibly rekindle their relationship, but he doesn’t see that being possible with the way he left things. Ron is interested in Mary Ann and spends a lovely Christmas with her. Dottie was a friend of Connor’s mother and is like family to him, and is estranged from her daughter. Alana is Dottie’s daughter, she wants nothing to do with her mother until this year, when things change and put life in perspective. You will have to read the book to see what comes of everyone.

Great short read. The characters were easy to love or hate and their stories easy to relate to. I really felt for Dottie and Alana’s situation because it all seems so unreal and terrible what they went through. I am on the fence about Mary Ann and Connor or Mary Ann and Ron. I do think it really sucks how Connor left it with Mary Ann, but I can understand his state of mind. If they would just talk it all out things could maybe become more clear and forgiveness could start. I would recommend this book to anyone who loves a nice sweet story, with a hint of romance.

Coming Home is a fun-loving Christmas story by Jane Suen. I like Jane’s other books and I knew that I would like this one as well. The story was a quick read, but it has such a powerful story within the covers. I felt that the characters could easily be a part of my family or friends. I love Mary Ann’s character the most. I love how she achieved what she wanted in life. Mary Ann is such a strong female character. This story was filled with emotions and twists and turns. I would suggest a kleenex box near you and to set enough time to complete this story.

I really enjoyed this festive heartwarming Christmas story. It was a short read so I was able to get through it in a few hours. It is an emotional and sweet read and I just loved Connor. He has suffered a significant loss and he is doing his best to move on with his life. This is the first Christmas he has had to without his mom. I also like all of the other characters. The emotions are high but luckily he has wonderful friends by his side.
This author has an amazing writing style and I am looking forward to reading more by her! I would recommend it to a friend

Coming Home is the sequel to Flowers in December by Jane Suen.
We meet back up with Connor, four months after the end of the first book. He has ‘come home’ for the holidays as a way of honouring his mother and his/their memories. This story is a continuation of the first book, with Connor still coming to terms with his mother’s passing, the grieving process, self-realization, forgiveness, finding a way to move forward, mending bridges, hope, love, and emotion- that happens over the course of the story. I loved it even more than the first book.
I really recommend reading the first book before starting on this one, as all the backstory and other relevant information is contained in that book. Ms. Suen had me hooked quite quickly and engaged me the whole way through. It is a short story, and I finished it quite quickly- but as with the first book, the author infused so much emotional content into the story- it has stayed on my mind long after finishing it.
I wonder what Ms. Suen has up her sleeve for us next. She certainly likes to surprise us!

Thank you, Ms. Suen!

COMING HOME (Flowers in December, #2)COMING HOME by Jane Suen
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Coming Home by Jane Suen is the sequel to Flowers in December. While I have read a lot of books and generally love Suen’s work, this was not one of my favorites. I think mostly because it didn’t end the way I wanted it to. I kept expecting, and hoping for 2 things to happen, that didn’t. I can’t say what, as it is a spoiler, but just be warned, don’t get your hopes up for a sappy romantic ending. I love the part of the story regarding Alana and her mother, but Mary Ann’s story didn’t end as expected. But, anyone who has read any of the author’s books knows that’s normal. She always seems to put a twist in at the end which I sometimes love and sometimes want to scream, in a true page turner fashion.
The story follows Connor Norton, after he and his cat, Tom, return to his childhood home. In the previous book, his mother passed away, and he is still grieving. He has to make some decisions about the next steps for his life, and rekindles some friendships along the way. I recommend the book, but it must be read after Flowers in December. I highly recommend you check out Jane Suen’s other works as well. They are all quick easy reads.

The one thing you dont do when you read any of this authors books is go in thinking you know how everything is going to go because she will show you the meaning of what a twist and a turn means and have you sitting there at the end going ..What just happened? She shows you that a twist doesn’t have to be explosive or a throw your kindle moment, she does it in a slow crawl where you have no idea it’s even happening.

I could not wait to get my hands on this story and that’s not surprising because this author has become an absolute one click for me, no thought goes in to my choosing its just see it, get excited, then it’s on my kindle.

I loved Flowers in December and at the end knew I needed more because something was happening and being implied and then it was done and my imagination took it from there. Many Thanks to Jane Suen for seeing this, and knowing that her readers needed more and then delivering.

So much was going on in this very short story but you never feel like anything was crammed in or get confused…She touched on many emotions and feelings and I’m just not going to give anything away so you will have to pick this story up, but please don’t start here, you must read Flowers in December first, this is where you will really get to know Connor Norton, and Tom.

Trust me…I’ve read every one of this authors books, she is a master with words and brilliant with putting them together to form what seems like simple stories that are so much more complex than they seem, I would love to sit and talk to her for a day I have a feeling I would come away rethinking many things.

Loved It..Love this author!!
