Falling Down (The Rockstar Series) by Anne Mercier – Review by Michelle Austin

Falling Down (ROCKSTAR)Falling Down by Anne Mercier
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This was a good 4 star read. Lucy and Jesse first meet in Chicago and then fate steps in and they come together again a few years later. Jesse is a hot rockstar, so I could easily see why Lucy was so drawn to him. Who wouldn’t be? Jesse is determined to show Lucy how he feels. Overall this was a good read with several great secondary characters. I also had some LOL moments. We get some steaminess, romance and so much more. I look forward to reading more from this author and series. 1-click and get started today.

This was such a good read. I have enjoyed every book I have read by this author and this one is no different. Nicole and Callum are the main characters in this story and they are both strong and independent. There is some drama, spicy moments, action, and a little bit of suspense. I had a hard time putting this book down once I started. This is the second book in this series and I enjoyed it as much if not more than the first book. Callum and Nicole go through some ups and downs once they realize that their one night stand in Costa Rica isn’t the end of their encounter. They return to their real lives after being in Costa Rica only to find out that Callum is Nicole’s professor. I don’t want to give too much away. I recommend this book. I can’t wait to read the next book.

How have I not read anything by this author before now? I have been searching for a book like this for such a long time, and it finally landed right in my lap. I definitely didn’t squander it as I dove in immediately! This is part of the Demented Souls series which I plan on picking up some if not all of the other books now. Even though I jumped in way later in the series, I feel this book can easily be read as a standalone as well. I absolutely love a good MC story, and this author has nailed it! The way they crafted such an incredible world is astounding. There are so many wonderful characteristics of the MC genre like suspense, romance, plenty of danger and lots of protective members. I also found myself giggling at a few parts as well. Malice is a perfect fit and recently fully patched into the Demented Souls. He becomes incredibly protective of Bonnie who has an ex that doesn’t seem to understand the word ‘no’. If you enjoy romantic suspense stories with a whole lot of MC vibes, please don’t pass this one up!

Falling Down (ROCKSTAR)Falling Down by Anne Mercier
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I have to say, I was pleasantly surprised. I’m not sure what I was thinking when I started to read the book but I’m generally not a fan of rockstar books. This book just flowed and was definitely very believable. I loved the characters….all
Of them!!! Lucy is an actress who isn’t following her passion but is following her mom’s passion. Sera is her cousin / sister who is a model. Both have always wanted to join a band but, that just wasn’t in their cards. Lucy has had a full blown crush on the lead singer of Falling Down…Jesse Kingston since forever. She runs into him at an airport when she’s 17 and not only meets him but they walk together to their flight that is boarding. 6 years later they see eachother again when Sera and Lucy and dancers for their video. Jesse and of course Lucy remember eachother and get to talking. The video takes a few days to film and when it’s over, Jesse promises he’s going to get Lucy in his bed. Lucy is a good girl, he’s used to groupies and one night stands. What good can come from these two hooking up aside
From Lucy’s dream coming true?

Jesse is far from the womanizing, groupie loving rockstar. He’s definitely been having a soft spot for Lucy.

So much happens in this book and it’s seriously hot and sooo soo good!!!

Nicole is going into her senior year of college when her terminally ill mother urges her to live her life and take a trip with her friends to Costa Rica. while at an ayahuasca ceremony, Nicole meets the gorgeous Callum. At the end of the ceremony, Callum invites Nicole to an end-of-summer party at his villa. Figuring that she will never see him again, she accepts the invitation. After having the best orgasms of her life Nicole sneaks out of Callum’s and back to her life in the States. Callum couldn’t have asked for a better end to his summer. As he prepared for the start of the school year, nothing could prepare him for Nicole sitting in his senior lit class. Callum, a Titan, is used to getting what he wants but could he get what he wanted from Nicole?
I really love reading this author’s works. She knows how to hook her audience and keep the pages turning. I can’t wait to see what is next for the Titans of Chicago!

Falling Down (Rockstar #1)Falling Down by Anne Mercier
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

This is the first book in the Rockstar Series. This is a rockstar romance which is full of chemistry and sizzle. The characters were likeable however at times I wasn’t as full invested in the couples story has I should be which was a bit of a shame for me, however I did enjoy the story overall.

This is a story of how two people met at random and that one meeting impacts them.
Lucy has had a schoolgirl crush on Jesse for years and when she meets him at the airport she can’t believe her luck. The meeting feels awkward but things change when they meet years later. Lucy is now a famous actress and when she is set to perform in a music video she doesn’t realise it is for Jesse’s band.
As they spend time together sparks start fly and when Jesse suggests they spend the weekend together Lucy jumps at the chance.
However what will happen when what should have been a weekend of wild fun turns into something more.
When Jesse realises that Lucy is the one will she be brave enough to put her heart on the line or will her past experiences stop her from taking a chance of the guy she has always wanted.

This is a very steamy story and some of the language and scenes maybe a little too steamy for some readers. Parts of the story felt a little awkward which for me spoils the story a little bit.
Overall it was an ok read if you like rockstar romances with a bad boy who likes to talk dirty. Me personally I didn’t feel as invested in the characters as I would have liked to but it was still an enjoyable read.

Back in the Ring (The Predator Series Book 4)

I have been hooked on this series since I first started it and couldn’t wait to dive into this book. Then I read the prologe and had to step away for a few days. I was not expecting that at all.

Once I got my feelings in check I opened the book and I’m so glad I did. I instantly fell in love with Bijou and her daughter Claire as well as the relationship they have with one another. Definitely one I have wished I could have with my Mom and with my daughters. My girls and I are close but nothing like Bijou and Claire.

This is about healing and embracing a second chance at love and a normal life. I’m so glad they were each able to find the person to help make the holes in their hearts smaller, but never completely. It’s hard to lose someone you love and the pain grief don’t ever truly go away.

I really hope there will be more in this series. I will be waiting impatiently hoping that someone in this group isn’t done with their story and starts talking to Ms. May.

This was another cute installment of the Buckeye Falls series! I enjoyed the characters and the community feel of this series. This story had dually likable characters in Mallory and Beckett. Forever To Fall by Libby Kay is like a roller coaster of emotions. It follows the storyline of two people who have been best friends ever since they were children. Beckett is in love with Mallory. Mallory’s brother Evan is getting married to CeCe and invites Mallory to the wedding. Beckett wants to marry Mallory but doesn’t know how to tell her. It is a cheesy romance where one loves the other but the other is focused on something else. I enjoyed reading the book from the prologue to the end. With 30 characters of excitement, Sad scenes, and Love, you will be reading till the end wondering if he will ever get to marry her. Find out in Libby Kay’s Newest book in the Buckeye Falls Series.

This is such a sweet and romantic story that will make you believe in lifetime love. Mallory has loved Beckett for as long as she can remember. One memory that has stuck with her is when her brother, Evan, married her and Beckett in a wedding ceremony when they were just children. When Evan gets engaged, Mallory and Beckett find themselves thrown together for wedding festivities. The feelings of the past still remain, but the two decide to date in secret because they don’t think Evan will approve. However, like in any small town, nothing stays a secret forever. Will these two, who loved each other when they were young, be able to make their forever dreams come true?

This is a cute story that I devoured in one sitting. While it is the 5th book in the series, it can definitely be read as a standalone. I enjoyed the small town atmosphere and the belief that you can find your true love before you really know what love is. I have enjoyed the other books in this series and this one was just as good.

Forbiddenly Yours is Book 2 in the Titans of Chicago and I definitely was eagerly anticipating my Titans fix again….I love how Anise invites me into a world of powerful alpha men, sizzle and spark, passion but also secrets and danger. There is so much to not only this story but this series, I definitely recommend reading this series in order as you get to know characters that are woven in each story.

What possibly can happen when enjoying holiday time off at a beautiful island to relax and enjoy…but finding the person that totally draws you in to depths that were unimaginable. The connection that Callum and Nicole have after a chance encounter is that….instant spark….believing in just in that moment that afterwards going back to their real lives at home, never to see each other again. Be careful what you wish for….when another chance encounter happens and feelings become real….just hold on for a roller coaster of an emotional ride….especially when someone wants to interfere with everything that Callum has worked for….

This story is fantastic and I am looking forward to the next Titans story.

Bijou Augustine has had it a bit rough recently. She became a widow fairly young and is also raising her daughter. While he was still alive she and her husband had opened a youth center that had been their dream. Times are tough and she is desperate to keep the dream alive. As Bijou makes phone calls trying to get donations to keep the center open she is met with a consistent stream of no’s until one call changes everything. Noah enters her life and she finds herself being attracted to someone for the first time since she lost her husband. He has been hurt and has his own secrets and troubles to work through. It may be more than Bijou can handle given everything she is dealing with. Will these two give a relationship a try? I enjoyed this entire series and the chemistry between characters. I have read other books by this author both is a series and as individual books. The stories always flow nicely and don’t ever seem rushed. I highly suggest checking out her work.

Malice (Demented Souls Book 14)

How did so many books get released without me realizing it? I have no idea but now I need to find time to get caught up.

Malice who appears to be one of the newer ranch hands and patched in member of the Demented Souls was in the right place at the right time and steps in to help a woman for other reason then to be a good guy and do the right thing.

Bonnie is gutsy, she wasn’t going to allow someone to dictate to her how she should live her life. Pride is a good thing but when it gets in the way of making the right choice then it’s time to let that go.

I liked how the guys all worked together on the ranch and other things that popped up. Definitely a brotherhood and wish women would do this more of one another.

This was quite an introduction to the Demented Souls but also to Ms. Stevens and her books.

Bijou Augustine is walking a fine line as a young widow she is trying to save her youth center while raising her daughter. Stretched thin she is at the end of her rope. When Noah begins to help, Bijou is not certain what the feelings growing between them means. Noah is keeping something from her though will Bijou be willing to accept his secrets or will it tear them apart.

I really liked Bijou, her daughter was spot on for tween years. I could easily visualize the dramatics. Noah is terrific and thought he was a wonderful partner to Bijou. Another great book in the series and completely different then the other books.

An enjoyable and engaging lighthearted romance which kept me happily turning the pages. Lucy has had a crush on the gorgeous bad boy rockstar Jesse Kingston since they briefly met years before. When they meet again and Jesse suggests they spend a weekend together Lucy decides to indulge her fantasies. However, one weekend may not be enough for either of them. This is a fun, flirty romance with plenty of humour and laugh out loud moments. The chemistry between Lucy and Jesse sizzles off the page and leads to some rather steamy scenes. May continues to amaze me with her continuation of the Predator series. This is Noah’s story and tragedy has struck his life. Bijou is a small town widow struggling to keep the youth center she and her late husband dreamed of running and providing for their small town. When fate intervenes and pushes these two together, sparks fly and wounds are opened and healed. I really loved this story and though it did take a little bit of time to get into, I really loved seeing Bijou’s story and struggles with not only losing her husband very early on in their marriage, but now having to raise a tween girl on her own. I also loved seeing her relationship with her bestie, Mara. Again, May has outdone herself and I can’t wait to get my hands on her next book!

I absolutely loved this little novella about Scott and Beth’s story. It’s way more heartbreaking than you could have ever imagined but the redemption at the end for Beth is *chef’s kiss* and the way Scott fights for her is swoon worthy. I was so exciting to finally get to read their story and May did not disappoint with the spice or the drama. I’ve loved Beth’s character from the beginning of the series and to finally get her story was awesome. You don’t necessarily need to read the beginning of the series to understand this book but it will definitely help if you read Predator Parts 1 & 2. I cannot sing enough praises for this series! I am a huge fan of Brooke May’s books, especially The Predator series. I was so happy that this book is all about Noah’s story and that we get to know his character on a deeper level. This story starts immediately with a tragedy, which had me in tears from the first page. After reading the Prologue and learning of the tragic occurrence that befell Noah, you get to read all about our new characters including a widower, Bijou, and her daughter Claire, who run a community center in their small town in Georgia. After the tragedy Noah experienced, he moved his family to this small town in Georgia, where he went to heal. What a beautiful story that unfolds as Noah and Bijou meet and work together to improve the quality of the community center. I was so excited when some special characters made an appearance from the past Predator series, no spoilers on who, but know that the storylines do continue with some little hints as the storyline goes along following Noah’s new life. Happy reading as you continue this newest installment of The Predator series.

This author is one that I never pass up because they write marvelous and engaging stories! This is the third book in The Predator series, and it has been absolutely incredible so far. I highly recommend reading the first two books in the series before jumping right into this one. There is plenty of background you’ll want to learn about to truly experience this one. Not to mention that you’ll be extremely addicted after the first few pages. Just like the previous two, I couldn’t find it in myself to stop reading for even a moment which may have led me to walking straight into a wall at one point. Other than the bruise from that, I have zero bad things to say about this book! It may be a quick read, but I promise the author does an amazing job providing all the details of a much longer read. The spicy chemistry is magnificent, and I fell in love with the characters all over again. If you’re looking for an unforgettable contemporary romance to get lost in for the day, look no further!

By Brooke May

Another great instalment to the Predator series. From the minute I picked this book up, I couldn’t put it down until the book was finished. This has been a great journey throughout this series and one that I would recommend to read.

Noah ex-boxer married to Helena until she was tragically killed when a drunk driver hit their car. Noah is now left to bring up their only child Holder. After Helena’s death, Noah was harassed by the media, so he went into hiding to get away from them. Noah eventually buys a house in a small town called Phillips Creeks. Noah was so sure that living in this small town the media would not find him. when Noah moved to Phillips Creek he decided to go into the handy work business.

Bijou was born and raised in Phillips Creek. The love of Bijou life was her husband, Eli. Unfortunately, Eli passed away eight years earlier. after his passing Bijou was left to bring up to their daughter Claire. when Bijou found out that Noah was going into the handy work business she decided to approach him for help.

Bijou and Noah
They both officially met when Bijou asked Noah if he could repair the air-conditioning unit at the children’s club her and Eli had started. While fixing the air conditioner Noah noticed there was a lot to do to fix up the children’s club. Feelings were sparking between Noah and Bijou but at the beginning Bijou was not sure what to do with them. Bijou had a sense that Eli had sent Noah and Holder to her and Claire, so she acted upon her feelings for Noah. Months into their relationship the media found out where Noah was and stormed Phillips Creek to get an interview. however, the media was coming up with their own ideas as to why Noah was hiding out in a small town. What will happen with Noah and Bijou?

However, he’s a Titan and used to getting what he wants, and he wants Nicole. The pair begin a forbidden liaison but secrets don’t stay secret for long. Someone wants to ruin Callum’s career and tries to use Nicole to do so. When they also develop an obsession with her Callum realises that power and money mean nothing compared to her. Once again the dark world of the Titans of Chicago was brought vividly to life through the descriptive narrative. Back in the Ring is Book 4 in The Predator Series and I am enjoying this series. I recommend reading this series from the beginning as you get to know the characters in each book. I knew I would devour this story of Noah and Bijou right from the beginning prologue. This story gave me raw emotion of loss, secrets and grief but also a second chance for two people who deserved nothing but the best in each other.

Noah is looking to move forward in his life, finding a small town to start over looking for purpose. Finding that purpose that includes Bijou and her youth center may be the right start. All Bijou needs is a sign to continue keeping the center open….that sign is Noah. Can these two hearts find a way to listen to each other and heal……

This is a fantastic story that I could not put down. I really loved Noah and Bijou’s story.
