Jessie Kingston is a rock and roll star with thousands of fans but when one fan asks him for an autograph in the airport there is just something about this girl that has him wondering what if. Turn to six years later and fate has brought them together again but she is an actress and just about to star in his bands music video, can he push and get her to see the real person inside and not just the popstar.

Lucy has had a crush on the sexiest man alive for years and when she met him in the airport all those years ago she still craves after him, so when she is hired for a music video she is surprised that in walks the man of her dreams, Jessie Kingston. As he pursues her can she let her guard down and go after the once thing she has wanted for years, Jessie and Love.

I read this book ages ago and have recently re-read the series and it still hits all the places you want it to in your heart. Although I know how the series ends I was still routing for the main characters and digesting as much as the book as quickly as I could. I have been a fan of Anne Mercier since 2016 and I would recommend you read the whole series and other books she has written.

The secondary characters are brilliant and add to the depth of book and the arc these characters go on, my favourite is Sera who is a brilliant delish complex character and of course Xander who is everyone’s favourite screw up but we all love him.

Jessie is the perfect combination of complex and venerable for you to hold him in your heart and want to cuddle him but adding in Lucy and her sassy, strong attitude but seeing the warmth beneath her is just brilliant to read.

Please carry on with this great series and enjoy all the characters as they come to life on the page and you would love to be a part of the family they create.

Beth is a independent strong woman, she has closed herself off to everyone but when Scott comes into her life at first she is trying to push him away but can he wear her down and help her recover from her past.

When Scott sees Beth he knows he has to find out more about this woman but with him being stonewalled at every turn can he penetrate the walls of heart to see he wants her and be with her. Slowly he starts to see the true woman inside and how vulnerable she is but with his love can they survive and work through it.

This is the third book in the series and although can be read as a stand alone it is probably better to read the first two books in The Predator series as it does cover some of the story and two be honest it is a great series as well.

These two characters start off as enemies but as Beth starts to see Scott is a good guy it becomes more intense and in depth to read. Beth’s character is a dull on sassy bad a** but you start seeing the vulnerable side too her which is great to read and gives Scott the insight to her. Scott’s character is a brilliant equal and complement to Beth’s character and this had me turning the pages to try and see what happens next.

This is a novella so is short but we are not short-changed on the brilliant writing and plot to make this book a thrilling read. I recommend reading the other two books you won’t be disappointed.

Wildfire Knockout: The Predator Series Novella
By Brooke May

What can I say about another great instalment in the Predator series, I am really enjoying each book Brooke writes, I am also giving this book a 5-star rating. This instalment is about Scott and Beth. I love how their characters have grown through their own story. Beth has told KC past secrets but then there are also some that she has held on to. Beth’s life went from bad to worse when her mother left the family, leaving her with an abusive father who had plans for her that no parent should ever have for their child. Beth decided that she needed to make plans to get her out of the life that she has now. Luckily for Beth she had a lovely neighbour who wanted to take her in but they both knew that that plan would never work, so her neighbour lied and said she was her grandmother so she could change her name. This is how Beth came about and how she came to be in Denver. While in Denver she met KC in the supermarket when KC went into labour, since that day they have been like sisters. After Chamberlain came back into KC’s life to make her happy, he moved Beth to Boston to live with them. Chamberlain helps Beth get into the boxing scene under the Predator group. Unfortunately for Beth Scott becomes her trainer, Beth has never taken to Scott and dislikes the thought of being around him all the time. Fast forwarding to now for Beth, she is in her first season in the featherweight division. She is also taking the featherweight division by storm, currently Beth is going so well she is undefeated, that is until the day her father finds her when she is out having a run. Beth is taken hostage by her father and two other men that is with him causing her to lose her first fight. Before being taken by her father she meets up with her mum after she has been absent from Beths life for years. Beth also notices that her feelings for Scott have changed and as much as she would like to let him into her life, she knows she can’t. How can he begin to love her when she is so broken?

This talented creative author has done it again with a great storyline and wonderful characters that draw you in right from the start and have you totally on their side. This book brings us the story of Scott and Beth who we met in previous books so while we kn0w a little about them this book brings their lives into focus and we understand so much more about them especially Beth who has so much more to her than you would first think from the other books. I liked her in the first two books but definitely needed more which I got here. Scott and Beth have a strong connection and he is very determined to be hers and work out her secrets so he can help her. I loved that about him. Definitely read the first two books of the series as it will help you fully understand things better.

This is an okay story. It is slow moving and at times I struggled to stay interested. I like the idea of the story. Her taking over a resort and him being a diver was cool and at times (especially the dives) exciting. I enjoyed their relationship but sometimes it was almost too slow. Her attitude did not match her character periodically. I did not care for how she acted towards him when something highly stressful happened to him that was not his fault. He needed the care and kindness of a friend.

Anyway as stated before for me this is an okay story. In my opinion there is a good plot and interesting characters just a miss in putting them all together

I really have mixed feelings about this one. I felt from the beginning I was dropped into the middle of a story. It was almost like the story is being told backwards then forwards then flashbacks are added. It really was confusing. I figured we would get her rising star story but she is already a star when we start and on tour with Franks. They have already “been together” so its just about him breaking her walls down so she will trust him enough to “be” with him. I did not really feel a connection between the two MC other than manager/client. Maybe due in part to the disjointed storyline.

I have read this author before and this is not my first book in this series. I find that some of hers I really like and others not so much. This one falls in the latter category. I was excited to read about a female MMA type story but this one fell flat for me.

This is the third book in this series which is just as great as the previous two books. I highly suggest reading the previous books as well. This is an author that I enjoy her writing style as well as her creativeness in her plots. Her books are written with alot of romance with characters that are full of heart and soul. I never hesitate to pick up one of her books. This book is no different. It is a well written story that is fast paced, engaging and hard to put down. Scott and Beth are great characters that made the story easy and entertaining to read. Their story is one where she is broken and he just wants to fix her. Will they find their happy ending or will her past change things? I enjoyed them and what they brought to the story. They are connectable and I had no problems relating to them. I enjoyed watching their growth throughout as well as their chemistry that heats up the pages. I really enjoyed reading this book. I highly recommend this book.

The Predator Part TwoThe Predator Part Two by Brooke May
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

K. C. Cunningham has spent the last four years building a life for herself, she has made friends, found family and completed her degree in education, now all she needs is a job in a school to make her life as complete as it can be. Chamberlain Lawrence is just coasting through life and trying hard to forget the girl who got away, he has never stopped searching for her and trying to find her, but he has had no success and so has ploughed everything into his career as “The Predator” within the boxing world instead.

One night, K.C. is dragged out on a rare girl’s night when her best friend gets tickets to a boxing match, something she hasn’t done since she left home and left that night behind, so she begrudgingly goes, all the while hoping that he isn’t there. For Chamberlain it is just another fight on his tour to retain his champion status and it is yet another easy match with another opponent below his level and all he wants is a proper challenge, however, all that changes when he sees her, his girl in the crowd.

As soon as Chamberlain looks round and locks eyes with K.C. she is placed back into the memories of happier times and the time before it all fell apart and it is all too much, so she grabs her friend and runs. Meanwhile Chamberlain is elated that he has finally found her after all this time and sends someone out after her, but they are too late and he knows that he cannot let this chance slip away, so he plans to find her and never let her go.

Soon Chamberlain finds K.C. and convinced her to talk to him, she is distant, all while trying not to fall for him all over again, she is hurt and angry and doesn’t want anything to do with him, but he is persuasive and she agrees to hear him out and nothing more, but will “The Predator” finally capture his prey, or will the past come between them all over again? This is an emotional rollercoaster of a ride which won’t let up all the way until the end in this romantic with elements of suspense and a will they, won’t they trope.

Brooke May does it again, with yet another fiery romance in The Predator series! We finally see the outcome of Katie and Chamberlain’s reunion and follow along with their rollercoaster of a relationship. I was so excited to find out if they could overcome their past misunderstandings and find out whether they could reconnect on a romantic level, or if Katie’s family ruined yet another part of her life. This book is the perfect mix of life lessons, romance, sports, and of course, a great storyline to keep you wanting more on every page that you turn. The romance is hot, the boxing matches are exciting, and the friendships are so heartwarming. Who says family is only those you are related to by blood, sometimes the best family is the ones that you get to choose yourself, and this story proves this. I love that we get to delve deeper into Beth and Scott’s story as well as follow alongside Katie and Chamberlain’s reunion, and we get to know the adorable Marissa, who is the perfect mix of the best of both parents. I am so excited to continue reading the next books in this series. If you like romance and are a fan of persevering characters who deal with real-life issues, you’ll love this series. Happy reading everyone!

Scott is known as a ladies man amongst his friends. They told him when he met his match that it would be a knockout and Beth is it. She’s broken and he wants nothing more than that to help her heal and get put back together. She has been hurt so much by her past but is slowly healing with him by her side. I have enjoyed this little series and was glad to see that these two got their own little story. It was a quick read and I wish there were a little more to it but it was enough to get to know these characters on a deeper level. If you liked The Predator parts one and two then you will enjoy this short story as well. It definitely recommend reading them all.

Wildfire Knockout is the third book in The Predator Series by Brooke May. This is a heartachingly good contemporary romance, with endearing characters, steamy chemistry, sizzle, secrets, drama, emotion, and a touch of humour that balances the darker, emotional tones.
While the first two books in the series were KC and Chamberlain’s story, this instalment follows Beth Martin and Scott Franks, whom we have met in the first two books of the series, as Beth is KC’s best friend, and Scott is Chamberlain’s. close friend. Their story pulled me in and had me rooting for them right from the get-go. I was so invested in their tale that I devoured all the pages in practically no time.
As expected, Ms. May delivered a heart-strumming story that I easily connected with, and left me wanting more, in the best possible way.
Well worth the read.

The Series Consists of:
-The Predator Part One (Book #1) – Katie and Chamberlain’s Story.
-The Predator Part Two (Book #2) – Katie and Chamberlain’s Story.
-Wildfire Knockout (Book #3) – Beth and Scott’s Story.
-Back In the Ring (Book #4) – Bijou and Noah’s story.

Happy Reading…

This is the second book in The Predator series, and I grabbed it as soon as I saw it. The first book was great, but this one blew me away! Like several other books by this author, it is addicting and all-consuming. I just couldn’t put it down no matter how hard I tried. Continuing to follow Chamberlain and Katie was exactly what we wanted, and the author delivered this perfectly. I highly recommend picking up the first book before diving into this one. You don’t want to miss out on the beginning of their story. I loved all of the characters in these pages, but now I’m most excited about Beth and Scott, but Marissa was also incredible! If you are looking for an amazing second chance romance with plenty of emotion and even some spice, you will fall in love with this book. I cannot wait to pick up the next book in the series.

The book was written with a lot of vivid description that transported you within the pages (a nice escape with all the rain this week). Like many books, we were able to see both main characters perspective with a lot of emphasis on their inner thoughts which provided great context and character depth. May has done it again with Chamberlain and K.C.’s story. This was such a wonderful conclusion to their story and there were many twists and turns still to be had (some of them were wonderful…others suspenseful). I just love these two characters so much and May did such a fantastic job with their development individually and together. I also like that we get to see a little bit more of some of the side characters and their personalities and relationships and I’m hoping that they will get their own story as well. You MUST read the first book before you pick this one up or you will be lost…but you won’t regret it! I love this author and she is quickly becoming one I automatically add to my TBR!

It’s important to read the previous books in the Predator series to understand the characters in Wildfire Knockout. This book focuses on the story of Beth and Scott, who we’ve met in the previous Predator books. Beth, who initially seemed tough, has a compelling and touching story that I was eager to explore. I enjoyed the lively interactions and strong connection between Beth and Scott, but given Beth’s past, her cautiousness is understandable. Despite her wariness, she has a kind heart and slowly learns to take a chance on love. Scott is fiercely protective of Beth, as she has completely captivated him and driven him to the edge. He desires a deeper connection with her, but it’s challenging when trust doesn’t come easily to Beth. As Beth grapples with her struggles, Scott is determined to uncover her secrets and support her, especially when her difficult past resurfaces. It’s impossible not to root for these two characters. The author, Brooke, excels in crafting relatable characters that tug at your heartstrings. Wildfire Knockout is a fast-paced and engaging read that evokes strong emotions. It skilfully combines compelling storytelling with a touch of humour. I highly recommend it!

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This is book 2 in The Predator series. As this is the second part to Katie and Chamberlains story I really recommend reading Part 1 first.
This is a second chance sport romance filled with chemistry, intrigue, secret, drama, lies and suspense.
This is about 2 people who are opposites however you cant help who you fall in love with.
When a misunderstanding tears them apart neither one thinks that they will see each other again and never in their dreams could they imagine a chance to rekindle their love.
4 years have past when they find each other again and both Katie and Chamberlain have changed. Even though they both love each other will this be enough for them to make it work this time?
With forces working against them still trying to keep them apart do they stand a chance or will they left heartbroken all over again.
I love Chamberlain’s protectiveness of Katie. Even after all the time apart his instant reaction is to want to make her his and protect her at all costs. There were times during this book that I wanted to climb in and stop anyone wanting to stop this couple from being together. You can tell that Katie and Chamberlain are made for each other but there are secrets and lies that need to be uncovered which could destroy them all over again.
I love this series so far and I can’t wait to read more.

Brooke May has been a Wyoming girl her entire life, most of it right here in Sheridan where the majority of her family resides. Growing up, she’s always had a wild imagination that came together to publish her first book, a cowboy romance inspired by her home and the rodeos she’s always loved attending.

Now, she continues to write where her imagination takes her with most books inspired by the scenery and beauty that is Sheridan, the Bighorns, and Wyoming. She’s a wife and mother of two and splits her time writing, playing with her kids, and of course, hiking, hunting, fishing, and four-wheeling in her favorite places in the BigHorns.

The sky isn’t the limit for her and all the stories she still has to share. There’s a little bit of everything for any romance reader; cowboys to fighters, bad boys to soldiers, werewolves to romantic comedies, and even a sweet cupid series for younger readers.

Finding Hope: A Small Town Beach Romance (Half Moon Bay #1)Finding Hope: A Small Town Beach Romance by Erin Brockus
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I have never wanted to travel to the Virgin Islands more!! I enjoyed this book, especially the setting. It starts off in Chicago where Hope is working at a hotel and hoping for a big promotion. She is the best choice for the job but gets passed over for a younger man. She walks into the office and quits, even after her boss tries to backtrack and get her some type of incentive. Little does she know, her sister had signed her up for a raffle to win a dive resort in St. Croix. On her birthday, while feeling down and not sure what to do with her life, her sister calls to let her know that she WON! She has 48 hours to decide if she is ready to leave the cold and dreary Chicago. No job, no boyfriend, what does she have to lose? She gets to the resort only to find out the owner bailed instead of staying to help her transition. She is freaked out and doesn’t make a great impression on the dive master, Alex. He has been working at the resort for five years and was stunned when the owner and his closest friend just left. He is angry and raises his voice and also doesn’t make a great first impression. Hope, being the hard worker that she is, jumps right in to learning the ins and outs of the resort the next day. Alex and Hope start to get to know each other and are keeping their distance since they both have troubled pasts that they don’t want to share. As they become friends, and try to avoid their attraction to each other, they start to open up. When Hope’s sister visits, we learn a little more about Alex. They boat, swim, dive, and share some meals while deciding if they trust each other enough to start a romance. As soon as I finished, I got onto KU to download the next book!

Finding Hope: A Small-Town Beach Romance Book 1

Before I get to the book review looked up St Croix, it looks as beautiful as the book describes. As for the water I do not think I have ever seen water so blue or pretty. 44 hours from Australia thinking in the future that might be doable lol.
I loved the storyline of book one in this series. The main characters in this book are Hope and Alex. Both Hope and Alex have issues from the past which make it hard for them to even think about being in a relationship with anyone. Issues or not Alex makes for the perfect bbf lol.
Hopes life seems to be predictable to others around her she is the only one that dos not see it until she walks into the coffee shop and barista Ashley calls out her usual coffee without her ordering it, this has her thinking that Sara and Kyle could be right. Hopes life is about to be turned upside down when her boyfriend Kyle takes her to her favourite restaurant only to break up with her. To add insult to injury the promotion she was going for was given to someone younger. Hope was not happy and resigned from the job she loved. In the meantime, her younger sister Sara gave her somewhat of a lecture on it was time to change her life a little. Sara also told her about a raffle to win Half Moon Bay Resort in St Croix in the Virgin Islands. Sara knowing Hope would not buy the tickets, bought some for her. A week later Sara phoned her to say she had won the raffle. On hearing the news at first Hope wondered what Sara had done to her, but then thought this could be the change she needed. Steve the current owner of the resort spoke to Hope and was impressed with her. telling her he would remain at the resort for up to six months or less to help her settle. However, on arriving at the resort and introducing herself to Patti the resorts general manager found that Steve had abruptly left the night before without telling anyone. Patti informed Hope that Steve had also disconnected his phone number making him non contactable. The reason behind Steve leaving so abruptly was that he could not be there to hand over the arduous work he and his beloved wife Susan had done with the resort before she passed away. Patti lets Hope know that Steve had left her a letter which she could read when she was ready. Steve had also left a letter for Patti and Alex. Alex was angry that Steve could just up and leave like he had. Hopes concern was that Steve had promised to be there for the transition and now she would have to work things out with the resort by herself. That was until Patti said her and Alex would help her settle with the resort. Just a final part Erin has described some of the diving scenes in a way you can imagine yourself being there. Such a great and easy read, I give this book a 5-star rating.

Finding Hope: A Small Town Beach Romance (Half Moon Bay Series) by Erin Brockus – Review by Jenni Bishop

Finding Hope: A Small Town Beach Romance (Half Moon Bay #1)Finding Hope: A Small Town Beach Romance by Erin Brockus
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

3.5 – 4 stars
Welcome to Half Moon Bay, a small-town island with sun, sand, surf, and scuba diving. The story follows two fractured souls: a woman who is out of her depth and a dive instructor who comes to the rescue. Both are looking for change and a sense of belonging. Winning a resort in a raffle sounds like a dream, especially if it’s on a Caribbean island, but that’s the beauty of fiction – you can create whatever you like.
Erin’s narrative vividly brings the island, the resort, and the sea to life. The beautiful picture she paints is marred by the characters’ feelings of inadequacy, hurt, and scarred hearts. This heartwarming romance tale makes it hard not to feel for the characters. The slow-burn relationship between them isn’t fully developed until closer to the end of the book, but I hope we get to explore it further in the next book.
I’m eagerly anticipating reading more in the Half Moon Bay series.

What a good story. She’s lost and has a chance for a new start. He’s the hot instructor. Sparks fly…..
I came away loving this. Emotions were high. The story had me rooting for these two. I sure wish I had had a meddling sister instead of 3 brothers. It’s an engaging story that grabs you from the get go. I need to read the next book now.

Hope is in hotel management. She tries for a promotion only to not get it. Unbeknownst to Hope, Sara, her sister, entered her into a raffle to win a dive resort on the island of St. Croix, which she ended up winning. Hope leaves snowy Chicago for sunny, warmer weather and a hot dive instructor to boot. This slow burn romance will have you turning pages just to see how it ends. From heartbreak and heartaches, to fretting over a disaster to …… well you’ll have to read it to see how it ends. I believe I’m definitely going to have to read the series because I need to know what comes next for Hope.

The Predator Part Two (The Predator Series) by Brooke May – Review by Angela Shirley

The Predator Part TwoThe Predator Part Two by Brooke May
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

We are launched back into the world of Chamberlain and Katie and my god what a second part to the story.

After being broken and lost, Katie is finally rebuilding her life and confidence to who she is, it has taken years to get this far but one day rocks her world when she sees him. Seeing Chamberlain has shook her but all the feelings are back and she is struggling with the realisation that he could hurt her again but is she willing to give love another chance?

Chamberlain has finally found his love, Katie but after so many years can he prove to her that it was other elements keeping them apart and he will try and make up for things till his dying days but there is only one thing he needs her to trust him again and not run away at every turn. Can I get her back where she belongs.

This conclusion to a thrilling story was just as epic as the first half. The story picks straight back up and has you back into the world of Katie and Chamberlain like you have never been away. The strength you see within Katie as the story unfolds is brilliant to read and with the secondary characters around her is just a wonderful story.

As you also get to see Chamberlain and get into his path you get to understand the workings of this complicated character and that he has nothing without Katie in his life which was just refreshing to read. With the twists and turns within this story you find yourself falling deeper into the world and becoming part of it.

I would definitely not recommend this book as a stand alone you really need to get the grounding from the first part but you would not be disappointed. Can’t wait to read more books from this wonderful author.
