Stars Fall From the Sky (Reigning Hearts Book Two) by KG Fletcher – Review by Lisa Helmick

Stars Fall From the Sky (Reigning Hearts #2)Stars Fall From the Sky by K.G. Fletcher
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This is one emotional roller coaster! I mean reading the synopsis gives a bit of a clue so I was prepared for the tears. But then a few pages later….anger. Yes I was shocked then I got mad. Not at the book. One certain character….well maybe two. You will know what I’m talking about if you read this. This author played me like a violin. Sad…Irritation…disbelief then shock and anger. Well let’s end on a good note…there was happiness too. Especially when the good Doctor was holding Daisy. So cute!

It was nice to see Emeline and Thomas so heavily involved with this story. I was able to catch up with them while getting Ginger’s story. Very well done.

I always enjoy this authors books and this was no exception. I feel she really writes from the heart.

Stars Fall From the Sky (Reigning Hearts #2)Stars Fall From the Sky by K.G. Fletcher
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Stars Fall From the Sky (Reigning Hearts Book 2) by K.G. Fletcher is the most beautiful heart wrenching story I have read in a while. Beware lots of tissues are needed. K.G. writing transcends the usual storytelling to a magical place where you completely lose yourself and become entwined with the characters. It is a second chance story that had me devouring every word and turning those pages. It is a story that is enveloped in love, loss, lies, broken promises and heartache but through your darkest days you do manage to find healing and in that healing a second chance at the one thing you never thought you would find again.

Ginger finally had it all, life was a dream but one second that was all ripped away and now she had to try to work through it and live again.

Jonathon is the new doctor in town but behind the happy façade is a sad and broken man.

It is such a beautifully haunting tale that no one and I mean no one should pass up to read.

Cue the tissues. Just when my sniffles subsided, I had to get them back out again. This was such a great book and it dealt with real life scenarios. It happens every day and while it may not affect us personally, this just hit a chord with me as I couldn’t imagine how Ginger felt with each devastating blow.
And Jonathan, he was perfect for this story. He knew her pain, helped her move forward and helped her through the pain.

I highly recommend this series!

Stars Fall From the Sky (Reigning Hearts #2)Stars Fall From the Sky by K.G. Fletcher
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Holy Pete! This book absolutely wrecked me, in all the perfectly good ways of course but regardless it tore me apart. I have enjoyed the Reigning Hearts book one a few times over but this one has to be my favorite KG Fletcher book hands down. Stars Fall From the Sky is one of those books that has a bit of extra magic to it. You go into it expecting a love story but get so so much more with the emotional and underlying issues that plague the characters.

Ginger McCormick has literally been to the bottom when a tragedy that was completely unexpected ripped her world to pieces and forced her to live a solitude that she never knew existed. Unfortunately, Ginger’s best friend is getting married, by the ocean, the very thing that destroyed her life. She decided to face it and in the process meets Dr. Jonathon Walden. Walden chooses a life of solitude. He is not looking for anything except to get through each day as smoothly as possible without dwelling on the past that haunts him. These two are the key to each other’s soul and healing. When a friendship is not enough will the pressures of their past block them from finding that happily ever after? Can they put their hearts on the line for a chance at love once more? I can’t say enough good about this book and I am dying to get my hands on the next one!

Hidden Tracks by Zoe Lee – Review by Erica Fish

Hidden TracksHidden Tracks by Zoe Lee
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Hidden Tracks by Zoe Lee is a romantic story about Astrid and Seth. One thing about Zoe Lee’s writing that I appreciate is her characters in her story. They are fully developed and easy to become book friends with the characters too. The story is a simple one. Seth is in a band and Astrid is a journalist. Astrid just got out of marriage with a “rock god”. She finds herself in a small town and writing about the band Downbeat. Seth was a member of Downbeat. They just asked him to rejoin the band. The band is at a music festival and that is when Astrid and Seth met. They story is simple but yet complicated in certain aspects. Will Astrid keep her distance from Seth? Will Seth act on his feelings? At the end will Astrid and Seth get together?

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Hidden Tracks by author Zoe Lee is the story of Astrid Sinclair and Seth Riveau. Astrid is a music journalist that is doing an article on the band Downbeat and Seth is the former bandmate who has been asked to join Downbeat for old times sake. When the two meet sparks fly and the story that Astrid has been asked to write now becomes the mystery behind Seth and the feelings, she has for him. Astrid has been burned once by her ex and isn’t ready for another relationship. Seth is a mystery that Astrid finds herself wanting to solve but is she ready for what she might find? Is Seth ready to give up his solitary lifestyle and learn to live again?
This was the first book I have read by this author. The story was a little slow moving in the beginning but soon I found myself intrigued with Seth and couldn’t wait to hear his entire story and what made him tick. I never really felt any connection to Astrid, I actually found her kind of annoying to tell the truth. After the first few chapters I found myself reading for Seth’s story alone. I can honestly say that if the author writes more about Seth’s bandmates, I would definitely read what is put out.

5-Stars

Courage of Us (Code of Honor Book 1) by Brooke May was an addictive military romance novel. I was hooked from the start. I loved how much though and creativity went into the storyline and characters. Duke and Patience were amazing. From best friends to lovers. I absolutely loved it. They both had some huge struggles a long the way but were able to find their own happy ending. Patience had a lot of things happen in her life while Duke was absent. She stayed strong even though things were bleak. I highly recommend this novel and look forward to reading what is next in this series.

I loved this story. This is a well written story with strong characters that make the story realistic. The emotional roller coaster they took me on kept me engaged and turning pages. This is a story about finding yourself and second chances. Patience has lost her way in life and is now determined to take back the control. Duke left her when he joined the Marines but now that he is back will they get a second chance? Love their chemistry. Their story is a must read, I highly recommend it.

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Claiming the Cowboy for Christmas by Kadie Scott is book four of The Hills of Texas series. This series can be read as standalones.

This was such a sweet second chance friend romance. I enjoyed reading and couldn’t put it down. Ashley is back in town for her twin sister’s wedding to Ashley’s ex boyfriend. It’s been exhausting trying to convince everyone that she’s fine and just wishes them happiness. Jennings decides to take a chance and step in to help Ashley sell that she is over her ex. It’s risky for him though because of the feelings he has for her. Will Jennings chance be worth the risk?

I really enjoyed this book as I did other books in the series. The characters were fun to read about and it was such a sweet and sexy read!

Romance author Brooke May spends her days writing whatever her overactive imagination has brewed up and her evenings reading while she works alongside her mom. Telling stories is second natural to her, from a young age she has told anyone who would listen what she had thought up. Now, a mom of two, she splits her time writing, playing with her kids, and of course, hiking, hunting, fishing, and four-wheeling in her beloved Bighorn Mountains.

While on maternity leave with her youngest, Brooke was putting laundry away when she looked at a poem she had written in high school that was framed in her son’s bedroom. That poem triggered the idea of My Cowboy and soon she was sitting in front of her computer with her infant next to her writing her first love story that wasn’t a fanfiction.

Sugar & Spice (Spicetopia #1) by Phoebe Alexander – Review by Anastasia Dodson

Sugar & Spice (Spicetopia #1)Sugar & Spice by Phoebe Alexander
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This book was a great weekend read!
From the very first page i was drawn in and i couldn’t get enough.
The main characters are what made this book great!
Jolie is a single mom who works extremely hard to take care of her family. One of her jobs is at a very sugary amusement park called Sweetopia. She dresses as the Red Velvet Queen and quickly catches the attention of Cy who works in the Cotton Candy Castle Bakery. Cy has been sent in undercover to work for his family’s company and is quickly distracted by the beautiful Red Velvet Queen. Will Jolie be upset when she finds out the lies Cy has told to go undercover at the company? Or will her own secrets come out in the open and be the reason they don’t work out?
Over all i really liked this story. I thought the going undercover trope was a great one. I am looking forward to reading more by this author in the future and i would recommend this to anyone looking for a very sweet read!

Lee writes a great book with such a vivid plot that I could hear the soundtrack playing with each chapter. The character development was solid and I felt invested in the storyline quickly. At times I found myself searching for more information on a few of the supporting characters introduced and therefore hope we might see more of them in later books from the author. However this story is solid and one I found myself gladly reading to conclusion. I look forward to reading more from Lee.

Sugar & Spice (Spicetopia #1)Sugar & Spice by Phoebe Alexander
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Sugar & Spice is the first book in the Spicetopia series by Phoebe Alexander. I should have known what I was getting myself into by the title alone, but some of the scenes caught me off guard. I love romance books as much as the next girl, but found this one a little too graphic. I’m not saying its a bad book, because I really enjoyed the story itself and plan to continue the series. Just readers be warned, it is not… should we say PG. Very hot scenes unfold a couple times. Some love that, but not my thing.
I enjoyed the characters, as they have depth. Jolie is a single mother, who dresses up cosplay for a theme park. However, she has her secrets, and isn’t as innocent as she appears. Cy on the other hand is a spoiled brat, being the youngest in his family, and will inherit millions. While he can get any girl he wants, and often has, he surprises himself by lusting after Jolie. But will their lust and physical connection morph into something more? Once they find out the whole truth about each other, will they bail? Read to find out!

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

HIDDEN TRACKS is the second book I’ve read by this author. There is a lot to unpack in this book. There are well developed secondary characters at the beginning of the story which frustrated me because i felt like I was missing something. I actually stopped reading and searched the author’s backlog to see what books the other band members where written in – they weren’t. At about 27% in, we find out about the other characters during an interview with the two main protagonists. At that point I was over the who/what and where and moved on.

Seth is a musician; “I’m not some romanticized rock star, some tortured artist with a tragic backstory that left me with some awful hole in my heart that I need to fill with fame or sex or drugs…. But I am just a small-town boy who got called a prodigy and didn’t give a shit about that as long as it meant I got to do what I love and it made my parents proud.” Astrid is a journalist who is writing a story about a band when she meets Seth. From their meet cute to the more complex parts of their journey, the story had a strong arc and carried itself from beginning to end.

I always appreciate the work that a writer puts into their craft and in this book there is a story and then there are songs. At times, the writing is so visual I could actually hear the music while I was at the bar watching the band.

So while there were things that frustrated me, there were things that thrilled me so in the end it all evened out.

Sugar & Spice (Spicetopia Book 1) by Phoebe Alexander

5 out of 5 stars
Sugar & Spice is the first book in the Spicetopia series written by Phoebe Alexander. The book started out slow, but I ended up loving this book, it is a little different from her other books but with the same flare we have come to expect from Ms. Alexander books. The characters are amazing, and the plot was awesome.
Cyrus Sweet is the youngest son of the owners of a kid’s theme park called Sweetopia. To force him to pull his weight in the company, Cyrus is made to go undercover to find the employee who is causing an uprising. But he finds The Red Velvet Queen and she opens his eyes to the troubles in Sweetopia will he choose his family, or will he do right by the employees of Sweetopia?
The Red Velvet Queen is really Jolie Cox and she a single mom who relentlessly struggles to make a living for herself and her sons.
They both met when they disguise what will happen when Jolie finds out who Marcus aka Cyrus is? Will she walk away with out listening to Cy? Will Cy give up on Jolie?
You will need to read this amazing book…. I can’t wait to read book two in this series.

Everything they need is in harmony

Astrid Sinclair fought hard to become a respected music journalist, not just the ex-wife of a rock god. Her new story is about Downbeat, a folksy rock band about to break through to the big-time.

Seth Riveau has been living a peaceful, small-town life for the last six years. When his old band Downbeat invites him to play with them, he can’t say no to a chance to start moving forward again.

When they meet at a music festival, Seth is intrigued by the cool, illusive Astrid, while Astrid is curious about the calm, mysterious Seth. But he’s not prepared for the feelings Astrid causes, and she’s not ready to risk it all for someone new.

The rhythm is building a long time before they start to hear the lyrics. But what if Seth is moving towards stardom and Astrid’s totally done with the spotlight?

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Claiming the Cowboy for Christmas by Kadie Scott is the fourth book in the Hills of Texas series.

There are so many things I liked about this story, Jennings sounded absolutely swoon worthy and Ashley was too adorable. They just fit so well with one another even when they were kids and didn’t even realize it.

I love reading books that take place in Texas and just imagine they are somewhere close to Austin which is where I’m at. I was disappointed that Ashley was and Aggie, but not everyone is lucky enough to bleed the Burnt Orange and it didn’t stop me from living her.

I have enjoyed each of the books I have had the pleasure of reading in this series and looking forward to the next one, which I’m assuming is Carter’s story.

This was a heart wrenchingly beautiful love story. When you find your true, one and only love at age 5, how can it possibly last a lifetime? That is what Charlie and Johnnie are trying to figure out. They were, are, and always will be the other half of each other. Yin and Yang. Light and darkness. But then again, don’t we all have a bit of darkness in us? This story explores that darker side. Anger, depression, alcoholism, fear. When we find someone who helps us combat those emotions, someone who brings light into our lives, we try to hold on to them in any way we can.

Charlie is that light to Johnnie. They are divorced but their son and Charlie’s daughter hold them together. The problem is they both have secrets and lies that could tear them apart forever, no matter how much love there is between them. The story isn’t all dark…you will instantly fall in love with Charlie’s daughter Abie. She is a 3 year old force of nature! Super smart and mature for her age, she knows just how to make everything better. She was definitely the star of the story. Making you laugh and smile even when you want to cry because your heart is hurting so badly for this family. And just wait until you see the antics she gets up to with the family pets!

This is truly a wonderful story that I feel I am better off for having read it. I highly recommend it and give it a full 5 stars! You don’t want to miss this one. Just be prepared for all the feels!

This story is wonderful to read. It is romantic and sweet. I loved the characters of Ashley and Jennings. I grew to care about them with each chapter that I read. Their story pulled me in and didn’t let me go until the final page. There are so many moments when I had a smile on my face and saying “aww.” There are other characters that are enjoyable to read about. The book is entertaining and well-written. The ending came far too soon and I found myself wishing it was longer. This is a story I would recommend reading.

This was a wonderful story that can be read as a standalone but I enjoy the continuation of characters in stories. This is the story of Ashley Hughes who is no fan of Christmas this year because she finds herself back home helping her twin sister plan her wedding to none other than Ashley’s ex. She is sick and tired of trying to convince everyone that she is over her ex she wishes she had even a pretend boyfriend to throw everyone off. Enter Jennings Hill who was Ashley’s ex best friend who still has feelings for Ashley but only wants to help her. When a rumor is started putting them together romantically it throws them all for a loop. Ashley knows how she really feels about Jennings and the more they spend time together the more her feelings grow but Jennings worries she’s still not really over her ex. Will they end up together? Jennings has loved Ashley since he was fourteen. Will he finally be able to show and prove it to her? Will she believe him after everything that they have been through??

Claiming the Cowboy for Christmas (The Hills of Texas Book 4) by Kadie Scott – Review by Michelle Austin

Claiming the Cowboy for Christmas (Hills of Texas #4)Claiming the Cowboy for Christmas by Kadie Scott
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Claiming the Cowboy for Christmas was a great 5 star read and book four in the Hills of Texas series.

Ashley has gone home for the holidays and her sister’s wedding. She has avoided going home for two years, it’s time she finally comes home to face the inevitable. The catch is that her sister’s fiance is Ashley’s ex.

While out with the girls for the bachelorette party Ashley literally runs into a blast from the past. Jennings Hill, the man that used to be her best friend when they were growing up. When she started dating, Jennings changed and treated her terribly. He ends up taking a drunk Ashley to her hotel and stays to help her. This is where things get complicated.

Jennings has always had feelings for Ashley and now that she’s home things are stirring again. And when the local rumor mill starts up things get very interesting for them.

Can these two finally get together and have a HEA? Or will Ashley leave town once the holidays are over?

If you’re looking for a fun romance with some LOL moments and great characters this is the book for you. Kadie Scott pulled me in with her writing and I didn’t want to stop until I was done. I can’t wait to read more from the series 1-click and get started today.
