Night Justice- India Kells

5-Stars

I am such a huge fan of India Kells and she never ceases to amaze me! It seems like every new book she writes quickly becomes my new favorite and Night Justice is no different. This is a truly phenomenal read, from the very beginning I was hooked! I was able to read it in one sitting as I just couldn’t bring myself to put it down, I was completely captivated from the first chapter.

Night Justice is dark, intense, steamy and very action-packed. There’s truly never a dull moment. India writes with so much detail which made it easy to picture everything playing out in my mind which made this such a great read! I fell in love with these characters from the beginning and I just couldn’t get enough, and even now that I’ve reached the end I still want more, I cannot wait to read more of this series ASAP. Well done India Kells!!

SAFE HARBOR (A Logan McKenna Mystery Book 5) by Valerie Davisson – Review by Angela Shirley

SAFE HARBOR: Logan Book 5(The Logan McKenna Series)SAFE HARBOR: Logan Book 5 by Valerie Davisson
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

When Logan is dropped into a mystery can she come out of it unscathed?

Logan and Ben have decided to go on a holiday to Oregon with Logan’s daughter, her husband and Logan’s grandchild but as always things don’t stay calm for long.

As they are enjoying the trip with the family Logan is thrusted into a murder but this time she is also one of the prime suspects, can she try and find the murderer in time to clear herself but will this open wounds of the past.

This is the fifth book in this wonderful series and the stories just keep getting better and better. I do have to say that this is the best one so far, the details that are unrevealing and you get to see more into the character of Logan. I love the relationship she has with Ben and he seems to ground the character which is great to read.

The second characters are wonderfully written and I feel give another depth to the story. The mystery element is not rushed and draws you into the story with its twists and turns. A really great read and love to read more of Logan in the future.

Lies That Bind (Logan McKenna Series Book 6) by Valerie Davisson
Page Count – 227 pages
Genre – Historical Mystery
A violent murder during the rumrunning days of Prohibition set two families on very different paths. In 2020, when a Collins is killed and an Ellis is accused, Logan has to dig through the tangle of secrets and lies binding the two families together to uncover the truth before the killer takes another life. . .
Things are changing for Logan McKenna. She’s buying a fixer-upper with Ben on the Oregon coast and is about to meet her half-sister, Olivia, who, until last year, she didn’t know existed. Both acts require huge leaps of faith, something Logan is often short on. But the remodel is going smoothly and Logan begins to relax and even look forward to the upcoming visit with Olivia.
Before Logan gets the chance to meet her new sibling, a young woman, Charlotte ‘Charlie’ Collins, is found dead—drowned in the pool of The Collins, her family’s landmark Depoe Bay hotel.
Was this a horrible accident, or murder? Emerging details are murky. Logan and Olivia soon find themselves inexorably drawn into what is starting to look like a homicide investigation. With no hard evidence, the police are focusing solely on Wade Ellis, Charlie’s fiance, who had means and opportunity, and according to at least one person, plenty of motive and absolutely no alibi.
In Lies That Bind, Davisson explores themes of mental illness, jealousy, shame, and guilt as well as the redeeming power of love, trust and community. What makes a murderer? Are killers born or bred? One thing’s for certain, secrets never stay that way and only love can heal.
If you enjoy Nevada Barr’s Anna Pigeon, J. A. Jance’s Joanna Brady or Ali Reynolds, Sue Grafton’s Kinsey Milhone, William Kent Kreuger’s Cork O’Connor, or Elly Griffith’s Ruth Galloway, you’ll love Davisson’s Logan McKenna!

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Safe Harbor is the fifth book in the Logan McKenna series and despite being so many books in, it is just as exciting as the books before it. Valerie Davisson has a talent for crafting an interesting mystery while weaving meaningful topics into the storyline. As the series progresses, the strength in the writing and characters alike strengthen. Valerie is definitely an author I would recommend to anyone that likes fast paced mysteries with a “just one more page” type lure.
I would give Safe Harbor a strong 4 star reading.

SAFE HARBOR: Logan Book 5(The Logan McKenna Series)SAFE HARBOR: Logan Book 5 by Valerie Davisson
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I am a big fan of Valerie Davisson’s ‘Logan McKenna Mystery’ series and have enjoyed all four previous books in the series and this fifth instalment was the best one yet. Back with Logan McKenna, who now feels like an old friend and as usual she finds herself in the middle of a mystery, this time it’s two deaths, one real and one psychological. Logan is enjoying her first vacation in years and along with Ben and her family make the most of some summer fun on the Oregon coast. Logan and Ben even have tickets for an in-home classical music concert featuring visiting musicians from China. Shockingly Logan then finds herself inexorably dragged into a homicide investigation as a possible suspect. As if that wasn’t enough to cope with Logan is then forced to face a ghost from her past and has to make a personal decision that will affect everyone’s lives including her brother Rick’s. This latest novel featuring our independent and feisty heroine Logan manages to weave a number of themes including, “loss, healing, forgiveness, family, love, and community” and although all of Davisson’s well defined characters all seek a safe harbor, sadly not all of them will find one.
I was hooked from page one and gripped from start to finish whilst reading this crime mystery story. The storyline is fast paced and the plot is full of drama, suspense, mystery and crime and is full of twists and turns that kept me guessing until the very last page. I enjoy following Logan as she investigates the mystery and felt fully immersed in the story. The narrative flows well making this an enjoyable and engaging read and the characters all add something different to the overall storyline. I personally think this series has got better and better and I definitely recommend this book and the previous ones in the series.

Safe Harbor by Valerie Davisson is the fifth book in the Logan McKenna series. Logan rarely gets a restful moment in her complicated life and this time is no exception. The first family vacation in years brings lots of drama, mystery, and revelations to everyone. I always enjoy how Logan works everything out and figures out the actual facts of the case. This book was no exception. Logan is smart, dedicated, and brings a unique look to what is presented to her. I enjoyed this book as I have enjoyed the entire series and look forward to learning more about Logan and those important to her. Davisson has really outdone herself with Safe Harbor. Safe Harbor leaves you hanging to the edge of your seat wanting more.

Logan decides that it’s time for a vacation. Her daughter, son-in-law, and grandson are coming with her. As is Ben, her boyfriend.

Once there things don’t go quite as planned. A murder? Again? Can Logan catch a break? The quote I chose for Logan is: “Oh, you can just call me Logan, Logan McKenna. My husband passed away several years ago.”

Highly recommended crime lovers.

SAFE HARBOR: Logan Book 5(The Logan McKenna Series)SAFE HARBOR: Logan Book 5 by Valerie Davisson
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This is the 5th book in the series and I enjoyed this just as much as the other books. It can be read as a standalone however I would recommend reading the other four as it helps build the characters.

Logan is back in another story full of twists, turns and mayhem. However this time things hit a little to close to home.

Logan  finds herself in another homicide investigation but this time she is a suspect. How can she prove her innocence?

Added to this is the reappearance of her mother. After leaving Logan and her brother when they were kids why has she returned now and what does she want.

Its a story about heartbreak and forgiveness along with the murder and mystery that these books are well known for.

Murder Makes Waves (Jack and Frances mysteries Book 3)
By Carmen Radtke
5 out of 5 stars

I loved reading the book Murder Makes Waves (Jack and Frances mysteries Book 3) by Carmen Radtke. It is a story that includes mystery, danger, and murder. It is a book that had me hooked from the very beginning. I love the characters of Frances Palmer, her fiancé Jack Sullivan and Frances’s Uncle Sal. Frances is an intelligent woman who is very much in love with Jack. Jack is a businessman who enjoys taking pictures and sketching them as well. Uncle Sal is a magician who dazzles an audience. While traveling by ship, they find themselves privately investigating the death of one of the passengers. Will they be able to clear one of Frances’s new friends of the murder? Read this book to find out. I love the time that this book takes you back to. It is fun to read about how life is lived at the time and also some of the phrases that are used. The book also had me turning pages wondering what was going to happen next. I enjoyed reading about the additional characters that are introduced and interact with Frances, Jack, and Uncle Sal. The author does a wonderful job of making the story and the characters come to life. Don’t miss out on an amazing book that you will not want to put down until the final page. I highly recommend reading it.

A Beach Wedding To Die For (Cozy Mysteries To Die For Book 2) by Judy Moore – Review by Anantha Rusum

A Beach Wedding To Die ForA Beach Wedding To Die For by Judy Moore
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

A beach wedding to die for
I had loved A book signing to die for and had started reading this book with great expectations. The book took off very well, I loved the setting. Preparations are on for a beach wedding, where the bride Amelia is all set to tie a knot with a financial banker, Charlie. But Amelia has a notorious history where weddings are concerned, she had already jilted two grooms at the time of taking the ceremonial vows twice before.
For her third wedding, her two exes are stalking her. Her brother and sister loath her as their children’s funds were tapped in for the wedding expenses. To top it all, the current groom and his mother get a shock of their lives when a secret is revealed to them on the day of the wedding. Everyone has a reason to despise Amelia. And soon after the wedding, she is found dead, stabbed by a knife.
Beck O’Rourke is a childhood friend of Amelia and also happens to be the bridesmaid for all her weddings. She is forced into solving the murder mystery along with the handsome cop, Devon Mathis. So far, so good.
But as the plot progressed, I was a little disappointed as the storyline became more predictable. At one point of time, somewhere in the middle of the book, when Devon suggests that Beck look into something, it was very easy to guess how the mystery would unfold further. I did read the book till the end but the plot took an expected route.
Beck’s decision in the end did surprise me. I felt she was too amateur and naïve in the sleuth business to take such a huge step on her own. I was expecting something similar to the lines of “And then there were none” Or “Murder on the Oriental express”. But the plot left me a little disappointed. I love this author and hope to read a lot more from her. Here’s hoping that the storyline is tighter the next time around.

The plague is currently threatening Lord Hani’s kingdom, and he loves his people, but can he help them all? But as if that isn’t enough there are also tomb robberies, can he figure out who is doing it? This book has so many twists and turns that will keep you on the edge of your seat!

This fifth book in the Logan McKenna Mystery series from Valerie Davisson, is one you don’t want to miss. I mention it is the fifth because I think it would be easier to enjoy this series if you read it from the beginning and in order a little bit. I was so excited to see that we were getting another novel from Logan that I scooped this one up without even reading the synopsis. As I expected Logan finds herself in the middle of chaos and danger as she is thrust into the middle of two murders. This is another fast paced and well described novel that makes you feel as if you are there in the thick of the mystery and suspense as you read about Logan and her adventures to find Safe Harbor. I can’t wait to see what we will get next from Davisson!

SAFE HARBOR: Logan Book 5(The Logan McKenna Series)SAFE HARBOR: Logan Book 5 by Valerie Davisson
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

So this one is my favorite of all the Logan McKenna books. The story is great and full of action and suspense. The chapter are short so it’s easy to say….just one more chapter then I’ll shut out the light. But guess what? Doesn’t happen. The characters have really developed over time and have finally reached their potential. I liked how Logan got swept into this investigation and didn’t place herself there.

I found I was sucked into this story. It has a full cast of characters that lead me on a wonderful chase. Who did it? Who is involved with whom? There are exes, Chinese thugs, FBI, musicians, sea boat captains and more! I don’t want to forget Logan, Ben and her daughters family all on a vacation to Oregon when the unspeakable happens.

Overall as I mentioned this is my favorite of the series. The writing flowed better and the story left out the unimportant/fluff and inserted action, drama and suspense that kept me interested and turning pages.

Valerie Davisson has written this Crime story. A true rollercoaster ride of solving this murder. All of your feels will be out in the open. Judy Moore
A Cozy Mystery to Die For #2

This is the second book in the series, and so far my favorite. I love these books! In this book Beck has some difficult decisions to make, does she tell the truth or does she just let it ride, this book has some twists and turns that keep you reading. In the end it all works out. What I like most about this series is Beck lives in a town on the beach, we all wish we could live there and run a bookstore! It’s the dream of everyone that loves to read!

A Beach Wedding To Die For (Cozy Mysteries To Die For Book 2) by Judy Moore was quite a surprise. I absolutely thought I had this figured out, I was shocked and surprised that I was wrong. It was an intriguing little mystery story and very well written. I’m not much for romances but I love the slow burn of the romance that is building between Beck and Devon. It’s just the right dose of sweet. This is my second book by Judy Moore, the first one was A Book Signing to Die For, also a great book. I believe I am a Judy Moore fan for life.
