This cozy mystery had everything I hoped it would. This is the perfect book for an afternoon relaxing with a good book. Because this definitely qualifies as a really good book. Moore does a brilliant job setting up the characters and storyline. There is a wonderful ebb and flow. And the reader is kept engaged from beginning to end. Loved every page. Hope there is more with these characters coming soon!!

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

A High Price to Pay, the second book in the Madeline Dawkins series is a fantastic continuation of Spouse Trap. I feel this book deserves a 4 star rating as I thoroughly enjoyed the book from start to finish, just as much, if not more than the first book.
I really liked Madeline’s character in the first book but her development throughout this book makes her even more enjoyable. I believe I mentioned in my review of Spouse Trap that the first book I read by this author was a completely different genre and I was truly impressed with the range of writing, the strength of storyline and the twists and turns that kept me invested. Once again Cynthia Hamilton has impressed me with the strength of her writing and I would recommend this series to anyone that enjoys a well written mystery.

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

A Book Signing to Die For by Judy Moore is a cozy mystery set in a small beachside town in Florida. Beck, her Grandmother, and younger sister all live over the family bookstore. When a murder occurs close to the store after a book signing, Beck jumps in to try to solve the mystery. This is a very fast and enjoyable read. I really enjoy Beck because she is quick, witty, and kind, but has some insecurities from her younger days. She loves herself a good mystery and is pulled into the recent murder of a customer. Can she use what she has learned from her love of books to solve the murder?
The characters are fun and work well together to drive the story along. What a beautiful, idyllic setting to have for a murder mystery. I have read other books by this author but this is one of my favorites so far. I look forward to reading more in the future.

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

A High Price To pay is the 2nd book in the Madeline Dawkins Series by Cynthia Hamilton. This is a great detective series which is thrilling and fast paced.
3 years have passed since we left Madeline and Mike at the end of Spouse Trap. They are now newly qualified as private detectives and Madeline is still working in her role as an event planner. When a huge glamorous event that Madeline is working on becomes a murder enquiry, her and Mike become embroiled in solving the murder.
At the same time one of the thugs who kidnaped Madeline 3 years earlier is back on the scene and Madeline’s life is in danger.
This is a very fast paced, thrilling, suspenseful novel that I was hooked on from the very beginning. As much as I enjoyed Spouse Trap, I thought this book was so much better. I was so engaged in the storyline and couldn’t wait to see how it all panned out.
Cynthia Hamilton sure knows how to write a detective story. The intricate plot is so well thought out and keeps you hooked and you will not want to put this book down.
I can’t wait to read more of Madeline and Mike’s adventures.

A High Price to Pay (Madeline Dawkins, #2)A High Price to Pay by Cynthia Hamilton
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

A High Price to Pay is the second novel in the Madeline Dawkins series. In ‘A High Price to Pay’, Madeline is working as both an events coordinator and as a private investigator, her jobs cross paths during a weekend long fortieth birthday extravaganza for the wife of a famous film director. Following the theft of some family jewels, Madeline does a background check and along with Mike is soon dealing with a murder investigation. To add to her troubles Madeline is informed that one of the men that abducted her three years previously is being released early having done a deal with the Feds. As Madeline helped put Rick Yeoman in prison she fears he may come after her.
This is a gripping murder mystery, crime drama with a fast paced storyline and great characters. It was lovely to be back with Madeline who is still dealing with the events from book one and who along with partner Mike is continuing with her private investigator work. Madeline is a wonderful female lead and I love her witty one liners. The story had me hooked from page one just as the previous book in this series did. Although it can be read as a standalone story, personally I feel the reader would enjoy it more if they have read the previous book and so have Madeline’s backstory.
I look forward to future books in this series.

This is about the murder of a young teenage girl named Leah , the investigation of her death ,Damon her boyfriend and how he was tried. Ten years later the crime reporter whom worked for the Cincinnati Tribune at the time of the murder decides to re-investigate . It’s one of those books that will have you thinking about even days after you finish. If you’re a true crime fan and even if you’re not I highly recommend this book. My rating: 4 of 5 stars

A High Price to Pay is the second novel in the Madeline Dawkins series by Cynthia Hamilton. Madeline is pursuing two professions, event coordinator and private investigator. With her life long friend Mike, she stumbles into a murder investigation and shortly after another body is discovered. While all this is going on, Madeline gets news that Rick Yeoman, a man who abducted her three years ago, has been released from jail. With the release of Rick also brings the reappearance of Lionel Usherwood, who is seeking revenge. Yeoman’s body is found in Lake Cachuma and Madeline is Lionel’s next target.

The author did a wonderful job portraying such a thrilling mystery. The story did seem to end abruptly while other less important parts dragged on, but overall I think it was well written. I look forward to reading other stories by Hamilton.

By Judy Moore
5 out of 5 stars

I loved reading the book A Book Signing To Die For: Beach Reads by Judy Moore. It is a cozy mystery that hooked me in from the beginning and I found myself not wanted to put it down until I had finished the last page. I loved the character of Beck O’Rourke. She and her grandmother own a bookstore. Beck has always wanted to be a detective so when a member of the audience at a book signing event ends up murdered, she becomes determined to investigate. Beck soon finds herself with a bunch of suspects. However, someone doesn’t want Beck to find out the truth. Will Beck solve the case before the murderer can stop her interference? There is a new police detective in town. He is both handsome and someone with whom Beck has had a history. What does the future hold for Beck? Read this book to find out. Beck is intelligent, kind, and tenacious. She is not someone who backs down. I also enjoyed reading about Beck’s younger sister Lizzie. While Beck sometimes only sees the differences between them, at times Beck finds that she and Lizzie think alike. This story has mystery, an investigation, danger, and a bit of romance. It is a story that I would highly recommend reading.

It is fast paced which made it enjoyable right along with the characters. I had no problems connecting with the characters. They are strong and supportive which kept me turning pages. This is a story about a bookstore that has an author signing where one of the attendees turns up dead. Beck and her grandmother own the bookstore and they live above it with her sister. Beck decides to turn into a detective to help solve this mystery. I don’t normally read this type of book but I am so happy I picked it up. I think you would enjoy it as well. Madeline’s catering business turned into a job for her and Mike’s private investigation business. This book is full of twists and turns that will keep you guessing until the end. This book did not disappoint me. I had some higher expectations of this book since it was the second book and inwas familiar with the author and she delivered and then some.

We pick up with Madeleine and Mike three years after the last book. They are official Private Investigators and ready to go once Madeleine is done with this over the top birthday party.

I’m usually pretty good about figuring out things before it’s revealed but this one had me stumped with a lot of changing of my mind and I loved it.

You can read this without reading the first but I would suggest you start at the beginning for background.

Night Justice is the first book in the Chicago Vigilantes series. It leaves things in a bit of a cliffhanger so be prepared for that.

I liked this book a lot. The characters are well written. I appreciated the female lead, Orla. Her character is strong, yet feminine, very well balanced. I also loved that the male lead is an anti-hero. The fact that he is attracted to Orla because she’s strong and not because she needs to be “saved” is a plus too.

This story has romance, of course, but it is also full of intrigue and danger as Orla and her masked vigilante try to keep the city safe from a new drug. Overall, a great read.

And the River Runs Deep by A.J. Ullman a five-star read that took my breath away. This was an odd one for me as I adore True crime, but I don’t normally enjoy reading about it, and haven’t for years I enjoy devouring it in other mediums instead but this has re-ignited my passion as this isn’t like your typical true crime read, as it’s a novel based on an investigation, but its so well done it will leave you questioning everything. This is such a gripping tale that once you pick it up you wont be able to put it down for anything, its such a well plotted and interesting story that you need to pick it up and sink yourself into the investigation.

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

A High Price to Pay is the second book in the Madeline Dawkins series by Cynthia Hamilton. This is another exciting mystery following Madeline Dawkins sleuthing adventures. This story takes place three years after the ending of book one. With the event planning/private investigation business in full swing- Madeline is caught up in planning a huge shindig for Hollywood elite. A year in the making, Madeline needs everything to go off without a hitch. But Madeline seems to attract trouble. The party turns into a murder investigation when a body is discovered in an upstairs bedroom. And Madeline is on the list of suspects. Added to her troubles is the fact that one of her abductors from the previous book, has cut a deal and is being released early. Will he be gunning for Madeline, since she helped put him away? His release draws out the evil leader of the kidnappers, who is hell bent on revenge. Things turn into a deadly game of cat and mouse, where Madeline and Mike will need to keep their wits about them and harness all their skills if they are to survive.
This cleverly crafted story has all the elements required to make it riveting. Missing jewels, an FBI investigation, a huge ‘Hollywood’ event, murder, suspense, unravelling three mysteries, betrayal, a reunion, revenge, a game of cat and mouse, a life or death battle for survival, and much more.
I loved all the excitement, emotion, tension, drama, and intrigue that Ms. Hamilton always manages to instil in her stories- I can always count on her for an exciting read.
Fantastic!

Thank you, Cynthia Hamilton!

I am truly amazed by this book! There is so much that I didn’t see coming and I’m an avid murder mystery reader! How is the third book in the Stalker Series by Megan Mitcham. This book follows FBI Special Agent Libby Irish. Libby has always wanted to be an FBI agent. However, her job and life is jeopardized when a picture of her on a crime scene leaks and goes viral. Then comes in Libby super tight lipped neighbor Jake Ronin. The man is as mysterious as is he is sexy. For some reason he wants to help Libby with this stalker that has risen out of nowhere because of that damn photo! These two fight the attraction that each other has. But you know it came down to fight or flight and when those two got together, let me tell you the heat was scorching! The sexy scenes were down right hot! The chemistry the two have together is simply amazing. This book has so many twists and turns and honestly, you have no idea who the stalker is until the very last minute and it mind blowing who it is! But I’m not telling you! You need to read for yourself! This story is so entertaining and I couldn’t stop flipping pages! You don’t have to read the first two books to read this one, but once again I always say to read them all in order first. Well done Ms. Mitcham!

Madeline is back with a side kick. Her and Mike have set up a Private Investigating business but its slow to pick up business at the moment so she decides to still take on her event planning role full time while it develops it clientele.

While organising the biggest party of the year she stumbles across there first case. The clients mother has had some missing jewellery stolen and has hired Madeline and Mike to investigate the crime but when there is a famous film director and people around him are suspects the plot thickens.

As they are investigating, Madeline discovers that there is a man from her past which may be trying to sabotage the whole thing, but while trying to organise the biggest party in Santa Barbara, trying to find out who stole the jewellery and thinking will there business survive who knows.

This book was a great second instalment in this series and the character interactions where just as good as the first book. The story flowed and was a page turner, the plot twists and turns and you feel like you are in the story helping them through to solve the mystery they behold.

I can’t wait to read the next book in this series and see the relationship grow between Mike and Madeline in the future.
