Boundaries is the opening act to Jessica Aiken-Hall’s Scope of Practice series that will haunt you for a very long time and you will look for the next one in the series, impatiently. I had read Jessica’s debut story when I picked up Boundaries so I prepared myself … She touches upon topics that are very painful, it tears your heart out and leaves you questioning the humanity. Boundaries gives us a social worker Valerie Williamson, who is introverted and overworked and … you so totally get her ways once you know what demons she battles herself. Her boss tells her to start a trauma support group and she doesn’t have a choice and of course the traumas the women in her group have experienced… well, yes, I have no issues with her breaking some of the boundaries that ordinary should not be broken … sometimes justice is simply not delivered … I hope Jessica does not keep us waiting too long as there are so many threads to be wove into a thrilling tapestry!

Madeline and Mike are at it again. Madeline is searching for a missing young lady, who has been missing for 12 years. She knows something is amiss as she has not touched any of her money. Just not right. Mike on the other hand is searching for his cousin’s missing girlfriend and her sister. Both investigations come on the same day, 3 ladies missing and a small trail takes off. Will all 3 ladies be unharmed? Killed? Runaways?
Cynthia Hamilton has done it again. Her book is loaded with suspense and crime. I love her characters and the story that is wrapped around them. This story never stops, it is smooth, terrifying, tense, and builds a roller coaster. At different points of this book I had fought many emotions. Now I am looking forward to book 4. Great story Cynthia Hamilton!

I thoroughly enjoyed this first book in Aiken-Hall’s new series, ‘Scope of Practice’. Valerie Williamson works at Lawrenceville Regional Hospital and is known as the ‘Anti-social Social Worker’ by her colleagues. Having experienced a traumatic event sixteen years ago Valerie has closed herself off from everyone, except for Gabriel, her cat. Valerie’s job as a deceased patient coordinator makes her more comfortable with the dead than the living. However when she is asked to start up a trauma support group, she wonders how she can comfort people with trauma, when she can’t even talk about her own past. When the death of a nineteen year old, Carmen Davidson plays on Valerie’s mind she lets the detective, Tim that she’s been pushing away get closer to her as they try to get to the bottom of Carmen’s death. Valerie is concerned that her boundaries are blurring. This novel has a fast paced storyline with plenty of suspense, mystery, action, and great characters. Valerie is a very realistic character who you can relate to and I liked how her relationship with Tim developed during the story. Although the book does deal with issues surrounding mental health, trauma and grief it is dealt with honestly and sensitively. The narrative also has plenty of humour along with the drama. I was hooked from page one and found myself completely immersed in the story. I look forward to future books in this series.

Wow this book is an amazing story about trauma in a person’s life and how it has a lasting effect on the person.
Val is a social worker at the hospital. When her boss wants her to set up a trauma support group Val isn’t happy about it. The reason Val has suffered trauma in her life and she doesn’t want to relive it.
However the group gets formed and as time grows and she hears the stories of the ladies there she begins to open up and share her own story.
At the same time a young woman turns up at the hospital as a suicide however Val doesn’t believe thats the case and can’t shake the feeling something more happened.
This book is full of hurt, and pain as the women tell their stories, it got romance as Val finally let’s the walls down with Tim and its got revenge.
The question becomes when and if she crosses the boundaries between professional and personal and what the consequences are if she does.

This book has exceeded my expectations, as well as surprised and delighted me. I love the character development and the way the relationships have evolved. The story is engaging and I was swept away and kept guessing until the end. I really love Cynthia’s writing style and love every book I’ve ever read by her. I seriously can’t get enough. In Girl Trap we read of human sex trafficking and mental illness, and we’re reminded of those sobering, complex issues in our real world. A very good read. It keeps you on your toes and wanting to keep reading to find out what happens.

This is a cozy mystery book which is fast paced and has plenty of twists and turns to keep the reader guessing. Beck O’Rourke and her Grammy, Miss Alice own a bookstore and coffee shop, Beach Reads in Manatee Beach, Florida. The place acts as a gathering place for both locals and tourists as well as being home to Beck, her Grammy and Lizzie, Beck’s younger sister. Beck is excited about an upcoming event, to host bestselling cozy mystery writer Marcia Graybill for a book signing at Beach Reads. When a member of the audience turns up dead, Beck decides to pursue her lifelong dream and becomes an amateur sleuth to discover who the murderer is. However the town’s new police detective, Devon Mathis is not too happy when she starts investigating suspects, and to complicate things further Beck has a history with the handsome detective. I loved the characters, they were likeable and realistic and I liked how the relationship between Beck and Devon developed. The authors descriptions of the setting of Beach Reads really bought the place to life and I could picture the surroundings clearly. The murder mystery storyline had me gripped from the start and I enjoyed following Beck on her investigations to find the killer. This is an enjoyable read and I look forward to reading other books by this author, who is new to me.

Boundaries, by Jessica Aiken-Hall, is the first book in the Scope of Practice series. The story follows Valerie Williamson. Val is a social worker who is much more comfortable working with the dead than she is with the living. But, when she is told to start a trauma support group, alongside helping to deal with the suspected overdose of a 19 year old girl, Val is forced to confront feelings and emotions she hasn’t had to face for a long time. Boundaries are pushed and the outcome is surprising. This story is full of twists and turns, and several surprises along the way. The main character is a complex one, she’s been through a lot of trauma herself and finds it challenging to find the best way to deal with other people’s issues. This is why she sets her boundaries and tries not to get too close to other people, but that’s all about to change. As the book progresses you hope that Val will find happiness after all that she has had to deal with. I found the story a little jumpy, and difficult to follow in places. But, that being said, I would still recommend it….especially if you enjoy a story with surprises!

Night Justice was the first book I have read by India Kells. The pages flowed so fast that this easily became a one day read. I enjoyed how it was very original in its night-time vigilante theme, yet while reading it, you could see it playing in your head, like a scene from a DC comic. The romance inclusion was a perfect mix with the action and suspense. Since this is the first book in the series, I will be watching and waiting (slightly impatiently) for the next book.

Night Justice is the first book in the Chicago Vigilantes series by India Kells. It is the first I have read by her, and I hope there is a book 2, as this book ended too suddenly. There is so much left unresolved. Over all, it was a really good book. A little too… graphic… in certain scenes, but the story was good. Makes me think of Batman- A vigilante is rumored to be seen in Chicago, but the descriptions never seem to match up. Orla, a reporter, has made it her current project to investigate it. She is tasked with a new story- find more information on the distribution of a new drug said to be coming to Chicago soon. On her first night investigating, she crosses paths with said Vigilante, and it begins. They both have the same mission in mind, to keep the drug off the streets, but they have a hard time trusting each other and teaming up. They certainly have chemistry and physical closeness, but lack the trust. I recommend this book, I enjoyed it. I want to know how its going to end though, I feel it ended too soon, and left too many questions.

Wow this book had me hooked from the beginning. I was on the edge of my seat turning the pages wanting to know what was going to happen next. This book is full of action, suspense, danger, wonderful characters and more. I love Orla’s character, she is a reporter that is strong and independent and when she puts her mind to something there’s no stopping her. She is trying to stop a new drug from hitting the streets and she also wants to uncover who the vigilante is. The vigilante is also on a quest to stop the distribution of this awful drug. They find themselves working together and they can’t seem to stop the chemistry between them. This is a must read if you want to know if they are able to stop the drugs from being released and what happens between these two. I cannot wait to read the next installment in what is starting out to be a great series. I highly recommend this book.

Girl Trap by Cynthia Hamilton. This is the third book in the Madeline Dawkins Series. This book kept me in the edge of my seat and I could not put it down. Night Justice (A Chicago Vigilantes Novel Book 1) by India Kells was a good 4 star read. I was pulled in right from the beginning. We get a glimpse into how the vigilante got his start and then we jump ahead five years later to Orla, a strong and determined reporter for the Chicago Tribune.
Orla is looking into a way to stop a new dangerous drug from hitting the streets of Chicago. Her other interest is unmasking the vigilante. When the vigilante gets wind that Orla is also searching for the drug in a twist these two end up joining forces to find them together. The more they work together the closer they become.
Will they succeed and can they keep their hearts out of it?
Overall I really enjoyed this read. I loved Orla’s strength and determination, she wasn’t afraid to back down from a fight. All of the secondary characters added a great element to the story. I was on the edge of my seat waiting to see what was coming next. If you are looking for a great thrilling read this is the one for you. Night Justice (A Chicago Vigilantes Novel Book 1) by India Kells. This author always brings her A+ game to all books and this one is no different. From page one I knew I’d be reading in one sitting. The characters are complex and relatable, they bring readers right into their world and as for me I didn’t want to leave. I love books with strong female main characters and this one definitely delivers just that, a head strong fierce character who doesn’t back down and the Vigilante who she teams with makes for an amazing story. It’s well written and paced nicely never feeling rushed or lacking anything. I’m so excited and impatiently waiting for more. Five stars all the way and highly recommended!

Night Justice (A Chicago Vigilantes Novel Book 1) by India Kells was an excellent read! I love how the author sets up the book at the beginning. It was a great hook that kept me curious. I could not stop reading this book as the story progressed. It was addictive, intriguing, thrilling, and entertaining. I loved it! I loved the characters and the scenery. This author never ceases to amaze me with her writing and her stories. This was such a wonderful read. I highly recommend it!

I didn’t know what to expect with this novel, Boundaries: Scope of Practice Book 1 by Jessica Aiken-Hall. I have never read her work prior to this but the cover, blurb, and teasers sold me on this book pretty darn fast and I am very happy that I decided to delve in. I was thrown for a loop with this one and didn’t know what to think or feel most of the time as I read it. It was a book that managed to take some seriously heavy material and make it readable and relatable for some. I loved how I was so consumed by these words that I found myself devouring this in one sitting. I know for sure I will be back for more in book two as soon as it is available.
This book is a difficult one to review without ruining, in my opinion. I am comfortable giving the smallest tidbits and that is it. We find the main character Valerie as a social worker consumed by the past traumas of herself and others as she works her way through a difficult murder case. The detective that she is paired with on that one will make her question her own boundaries over and over. Will she find the answers she is looking for? Can she stand in her boundaries with conviction or will she find a way to bend the rules? I know this is one that any crime novel junkie will wanna devour soon so if that is your thing this is a book you have to have! I can’t wait to see what we will get next!

I have read a few books from this author and she still continues to blow my mind. I absolutely love a good criminal romance but this author exceeded all my expectations. This is the first book of the Chicago Vigilantes series and wow what a great start to an awesome series. You can’t help but to fall in love with these characters. I can’t wait to see what this author will write next.

As her pet project she’s trying to uncover the identity of a vigilante who metes out his own justice. Realizing that they have a common goal, to stop Phantom, they decide to collaborate. The chemistry between the two is electrifying but with danger lurking around every corner, can these two connect?
I loved that Orla was a strong, no nonsense female lead. The vigilante, though on the wrong side of the law, had his own set of morals. The story is filled with danger, action and romance, what more could you ask for? I found it was a little slow at the beginning but once it picked up, boy was it a page turner! I’ve read a few of this authors’ books before and this was just as good as the others.

Boy on Hold by JS Spero is a book that utterly took me by surprise and had me hooked right from the word go. This is the first book that I have read by this author and I was a bit sceptical going into it. The description didn’t really grab my attention but I couldn’t detract from the amazing reviews. I decided to give it a go and I am so glad I did. The story that unfolded as a complex and intriguing story. The characters we so compelling. It was a great story of family and mystery. As an introduction to this author I couldn’t have picked a better book and I am certainly looking for were to reading more.

Night Justice is the fantastic first book in the Chicago Vigilantes Series by India Kells. I have been a fan of India Kells’ writing for the last couple of years and was excited that she has brought out a new series. As expected I absolutely loved Night Justice. She has certainly got this new series off with an absolute bang! Orla is an investigative journalist whose latest assignment is to find out about a new drug called Phantom that’s about to sweep across Chicago. At the same time she’s trying to find out information about the vigilante that’s been operating in the area. Little did she know that the 2 investigations would merge into 1 very dangerous assignment for her. Sam is a vigilante working for Noctem Consulting who is trying to stop the introduction of the drug. After a chance meeting with Orla, when he was meant to be following her, the 2 work together to bring down the team bringing Phantom to their city. This is a very fact paced romantic thriller that will keep you gripped from beginning to end. I love how India Kells writes a fantastic thriller but also adds some very hot and steamy scenes that will have you needing to fan your face. I’ve never read an India Kells book that I haven’t loved and I can’t wait to read more from this series. It has all the markings of being another cracker! Night Justice is a MUST read.

A Book Signing To Die For: Beach Reads by Judy Moore

This is my 4th book by this author. It has become clear to me that she is a definite go to for my mystery cravings. I’ve loved all of them so far and I want to say that this one is a definite favorite.
I loved everything about this story, I think I have to point out though first that one of my favorites in Somebody in the Neighborhood played a really awesome part in this one which made me really happy!! He remains a favorite of mine. I loved the community and all of the characters. A few were a little sketchy but they were supposed to be to make this book a success. I want to walk into Beach Reads, grab a book, find a table and just spend a whole day reading and hoping Coquina will walk by a few times 🙂
Just like any of the other books I’ve read by Judy Moore, I think I have it all figured out about 90 times while reading, then talking myself out of it 90 times, never getting a firm grasp on the answer till the end. I Loved Loved Loved Beck. I loved that even though something happened in her past that led her on the course she was on that she didn’t let that stop her from following her instincts. She believed, therefore she never gave up! I truly truly hope there is more to come for all of these people. I could read a whole series with all of them and still want more! There was no cliffhanger but it ended with definite room for more, and I just can’t get enough of Scratchoff running around on his beach bike!
I truly hope Beck gets to explore more of what she always wanted to be and I think her doing that would make for some awesome storylines between her and Devon!

This excellent book left me wanting more pages to read. It was just an incredibly heart wrenching and emotional journey and I loved (and hated, in a good way) every page. This author has such a strong voice and perspective. I cannot wait to read more from her.

Night Justice by India Kells is the first installment of A Chicago Vigilantes series which is a dark romance with suspense. I was so excited to read this series when I saw it, between the synopsis and that cover. This is the first book I have read by this author but again won’t be the last, I love finding new authors that I fall in love with their work. This is a easy read that keeps you hook from the first page, there is so much adventure, action, mystery and then you add in the romance. Orla Karlsen is a reporter in Chicago who is determined to stop a new drug from spreading through the city but also to figure out who the masked Vigilante is giving his own justice to those who deserve it. Her and the Vigilante have such hot chemistry its off the charts. Highly recommend this book.

Girl Trap by Cynthia Hamilton a four-star read that will trap you between the pages. This is number three in the Madeline Dawkins series and they can be read as stand-alone, but I have read them and loved them as a series, as they do each focus on a different story, but I have loved the build of the characters. Madeline and Mike are working together but focusing on different cases and what will happen in those will keep you hooked, but what will happen? Will they race against time and manage to solve the mysteries in time? Or will history come a knocking and knock something loose. I enjoyed this one, not as much as the first two, but I am glad I read it, as it does have some good drama and suspense and has left me awaiting number four.

Beck O’Roarke owns a beachside bookshop, Beach Reads, with her feisty, yet lovable, Grandmother. Beck has always loved books, mysteries in particular, and when a murder takes place on her doorstep she can’t help but get involved. As she gets started in her investigation, Beck not only digs up clues but also starts to piece together answers. It doesn’t hurt that this also allows her to hopefully impress the towns new, very handsome, detective. But as she gets closer to the answers she also gets closer to danger, and when it comes down to it things aren’t as they seem at all.
A Book Signing to Die For is an easy to read cosy mystery. The plot is well thought out and I enjoyed that there were a few surprises along the way. The author has created a wonderful set of characters which really bring the story to life. If you are looking for a cosy book to get stuck into I would definitely recommend this.

Night Justice by India Kells a five-star read that will bring justice to the story. This is number one in the Chicago Vigilantes novels and if you have read the women of Purgatory series you will see come characters pop up, but I will be clear and say that you don’t need to have read that series, its just an added extra like seeing an old friend in passing not your bestie after missing each other for 10 weeks, a nice bonus but not a major working part. Orla Karlsen is a very determined character and that can sometimes be a little bit of a flaw for her, when you throw in amazing chemistry and a Vigilante in the form of an Angel, well you have a winning story. It is very quick paced and will keep your adrenalin pumping and your heart a racing, if you like a dark suspenseful romance then you won’t go wrong with this story or this author.

Oh this series is one that I will be waiting impatiently for the next book to release. I have been a fan of Ms. Kells for a while now and now I’m a bigger fan because of this book. She nailed the darker suspense perfectly.
Orla has no fear and I love that about her. She has seen so much as an investigation journalist, including war so the streets of Chicago should be easy. Should be, but aren’t though the Vigilante is doing his part in making them safer.
We get to know the members of the this group and I’m so excited about this series.
