Knight in the Museum (Jorja Knight Private Investigator Mystery Series Book) by Alice Bienia was a fun, fast paced mystery that was full of surprises. When private investigator Jorja Knight is asked by her old friend to look into the death of his old colleague, what initially seems like an open and shut suicide is quickly determined to be a lot more than it seemed. The more she digs into the mystery the more questions it brings up and the more dangerous the investigation becomes. This is a well written and enjoyable mystery with a cast of likable characters. This is the first book I have read in this series, but I will be going back and reading the other books by this author.

Jorja Knight is a brilliant character and I feel as if I tapped into an incredible story line that I can’t wait to build on. I found this book fascinating and exciting and perfectly mysterious. Strong characters you can’t help but enjoy. This was well written and hard to put down. As the days get colder I seek more and more books just like this to lose myself in and boy did I ever. Excellent job to the author! I will definitely be looking for me from you!

First off… OMG… this book is a MUST READ! Once you start it sucks you in and good luck stopping until the last page. This is the first book I have read from this author and I’m sure it won’t be the last.
I always read the writeup to see what a book is about before I choose to read it or not. I knew from the get go I wanted to read this story. I am so glad I did.
Catherine going thru the grieving process of losing her daughter Susie in a tragic accident. Trying to make sense of the accident a year later. She wants so badly to know exactly what happened to her. Even going back to Crete where the accident happened. Even reaching out to Daniel who was the boyfriend at the time.
Things are mysteriously happening to her at home while she is talking to those who knew Susie during that time. I love how the author has excerpts from Susie that are changing from the night of the accident. I found myself comparing the changes each time one came up and trying to solve what happened.

Murder on Oak Street is a historical crime novel set in 1904 New York. We follow Dr. Daniel O’Halleran, a Coroner’s Physician who is fed up with the politics of the job. When he is left at the altar on his wedding day, on opportunity to work on Long Island is just what Daniel needs. When Dr. O’Halleran is presented with a case by a young woman; he realizes it has connections to his last case in New York City. A murder happens not long after he arrives. Daniel investigates the house full of family members and learns that not everyone is as they’re portrayed. This book is full of twists and turns and the writer had me guessing from beginning to the end. The details in this book make you feel as if you’re investigating along with Daniel. Murder on Oak Street is the first in the South Shore Mystery series, and I look forward to reading the next book.

Wow what a story. I was gripped right from the beginning and I was gripped until I found out what happened to Susie. The author does an amazing job with this story by giving the reader several different scenarios of how Susie fell, was it an accident? Was she drunk? Was she pushed?
All of the scenarios seem likely but the actual events will blow your mind. Several times I thought I had the answer and I was still wrong.
Catherine Keely is a heartbroken mother trying to come to terms with the loss of her daughter when she fell from a balcony in Crete. Catherine doesn’t believe it was an accident and so she sets out to find the truth. She questions Suzies friends and ex partner trying to find answers but what she finds out is perhaps something she wishes she didn’t know. When you believe you know someone completely could you really not know them at all? Are somethings better not being know?

Susie’s mom doesn’t believe her death was an accident. She accepted her death but not the way she passed. After a year she is following several different leads from workers and friends. Figures out she might not have known her daughter as well as she thought. My first read from this author, it definitely will not be my last.

Suspenseful and intriguing There are plenty of twists and turns in this historical mystery. Daniel O’Halleran is an easy character to connect with and the cases kept my interest until the end. This book has drama, angst, suspense and murder. The historical setting is well done too. This is a strong first book in the series and I am looking forward to reading more.

I’m sure it is a good book but I couldn’t get farther than chapter 3. I don’t recall anything about COVID in the book description and I just couldn’t get past it. I’m not opposed to modern timed books I just don’t want to have to think about COVID when it happened in the very recent past. It was also confusing going back and forth from country’s. One moment they are in Australia in current times then you are in Britain and it isn’t clear when the transition happens, to me at least.

This is a fantastic mystery, with a female heroine. I have to say that I have read no other of the Jorja Knight books before this one and this one definitely stands on its own. BUT I loved it so much that I will definitely be going back to read the other ones. Jorja Knight is a wonderful heroine who uses her PI skills to solve mysteries. This book was full of twists and turns and even contained a twist of a possible curse. I was definitely guessing until the very end. I highly recommend it!

I’ve really enjoyed this historical crime story. It is a story that grips you from the beginning and doesn’t let go. I loved the main character Daniel. He’s a very smart determined man and when he senses something is wrong he is determined to not let anything stand in his way of the truth.
Daniel is a coroners physician. He is fed up of people not taking him seriously and his opinions not counting. He also doesn’t like the way that murders are swept under the carpet and not investigated. The final straw comes when he is left at the alter. Taking this as his sign he leaves New York and heads to Long Island.
This could be just the change he needs. A slower pace and a job where he is taken seriously. However the pace changes when he is asked to investigate a case from 2 years ago and when there is links between this case and his first case in New York Daniel starts to wonder if they were committed by the same person. Could there be a serial killer out there or is it just coincidence? When another murder happens Daniel is in a race against time to solve this case.
This story is gripping, full of twists and turns, danger and mystery. I love how the author incorporates history and themes of the era which really brings the story a sense of reality.

How each person navigated through the early days of the pandemic is a personal experience. This book provides readers a window into the lives of a family who must quarantine when the grandmother learns she has been exposed to, and ultimately contracts, Covid. Readers experience a story within a story. One main character delivers, in increments, to the other main character, a part of his history he had previously kept silent about. This story within is exceptional. Learning to depend on others, and to what extent we depend on them, while isolating and quarantining- I feel that may be the ultimate lesson we take away from the pandemic.

Knight In the Museum is the fifth book in the Jorja Knight Mystery series by Alice Bienia. I was unaware going into this suspenseful read that it was the fifth book in the series. But luckily it is able to be read as a standalone without feeling like I was ‘missing’ anything by not having read the previous books. Having said that though, this book has definitely left me wanting- wanting more of Ms. Bienia’s books that is. I was drawn to the book by the intriguing title and interesting cover- plus I love a thrilling mystery- so I happily one-clicked a copy and started the adventure. I was immediately pulled into the story and spent the rest of the afternoon glued to the pages, reading avidly, and devouring the entire book in one sitting just so I could discover how everything played out in the end. This may have been my first read from Ms. Bienia, but after this engrossing mystery, it definitely won’t be the last. This has whet my appetite for more of Ms. Bienia’s work, and more of Jorja Knight’s adventures, so I will definitely be going back to read the rest of the series- I am halfway through Book #1 already. Jorja Knight is a Private Investigator who is asked to look into the suspicious death of a friend-of-a-friend. What was supposed to be an accidental drowning leads Jorja to more bodies, and an ever-mounting web of intrigue. Add in an ancient, cursed relic into the mix and the case takes an even stranger turn. The puzzling nature of this latest investigation means Jorja will be tested like never before. With the body-count mounting, and danger circling- it is apparent that sinister forces will do anything and everything to prevent her from finding out the truth. Putting a rather large target on her back. Not everything is as it seems. And Jorja begins to suspect that the fallout could hit closer to home than she ever could have suspected going into the case. What ensues makes for an exciting read. I love it when I discover an author who can completely capture my attention with their stories- pulling me into their world so completely that I lose all sense of time and place. This book did that for me. Ms. Bienia has cleverly crafted a tightly woven crime and investigation story- a whodunit mystery with a cursed relic, murder, a determined PI, sinister foes, agendas, action, intensity, danger, puzzling developments, twists, adventure, humour, banter, tension, and drama- as well as a lot of interesting and well-developed characters. Excellent descriptions, characters, suspense, dialogue, and sticking to era appropriate reactions. Wonderfully written, enjoyable historical mystery. Highly recommend!

This book is by an author I hadn’t heard of but the storyline sounded interesting so I decided to give it a go. This is a historical murder mystery novel which only adds to the intrigue and takes you back to a time and place where things were done differently.
Daniel is fed up with his current role in the city, I mean what’s the point of submitting your findings as coroner if they will just be brushed under the rug in favor of a quicker outcome. So 2 years down the road with many unsatisfactory cases, when Daniel is left at the altar he finally decides that he needs to shake things up a bit. So he takes up a new coroner job on Long Island and it doesn’t take long for the very first case he worked to come back for a visit when the local librarian brings it up. Daniel is eager to once and for all solve the case that has puzzled him for years. Will he be able to solve the case and catch the killer? Or will he bring more death to Long Island by poking a sleeping giant?
This book was very intriguing and I did enjoy reading it. At times it was a bit slow for my taste but that is to be expected in a historical plot line. Back then they took their time with everything. The characters were well thought out, the story itself was interesting, and the historical aspects were on point. If you like historical fiction mixed with some murder mystery whodunnit then you should definitely give this book a try. You may find this one is right up your alley!

This book, to say it was good, would by far be an understatement! I was amazed and full of intrigue as I read. I was left in suspense, I loved the author’s way of writing, and the historical mystery that took place.
I love mysteries. I grew up swearing I was going to be the next Sherlock Holmes SO of course this book greatly appealed to me. The more I dived in, the more I wanted to know. A mystery that even I could not put together-and I am quite good at those things. I was intrigued all the way through. I enjoyed the build up of the story very well and could not get enough. Great characters and suspenseful writing. Nothing was what it seemed. I found the read thrilling, and cannot wait for book 2! Freaking loved it!
Wonderful read, and not one to be passed up for any reason. Seriously! A must read book and author! Needless to say this is a high recommendation from me, if not a high priority to be read book and author!

Jorja Knight is a PI and the case that just got put in her lap has her traveling to Colombia. Naturally, there are surprises waiting for her around the corner.

This book was really good. I don’t think I have read a mystery exposing so much of the truth. I loved how all three stories intertwined together. I am excited to the next book in the series. What more could I ask for from a book. Murder, suspense, Historical setting and all the mystery. I really enjoyed this book and was intrigued by the authors skill at spinning a thrilling tale. I enjoyed her characters and truly enjoyed how this story built. I don’t believe I have read books by I.M Foster however she has won me over completely. I couldn’t put the book down and was thoroughly invested in solving the mystery! Great read, will definitely be looking for more like this!

This is one of those books that really has a bit of everything. It is well written, full of mystery and suspense and I thought it was so intriguing. I loved the way the author seemed to connect everything, for me it pulled me into the story so much more. I couldn’t wait to see how things would unravel and what the outcome would be. As the first book in a new series, I thought this was a really strong start. The characters were interesting, and really fit the storyline well. The author knew exactly how to capture your attention. I am very much looking forward to book 2!

WOW! After reading the blurb, I knew I’d be engrossed in this book. The idea of multiple potential stories told throughout the book captivated me, and so did the book itself. Dramatic, emotional, a wonderful psychological thriller.
Catherine’s daughter Susie fell to her death in an accident in Crete. Nothing has ever felt right about it to her, and so Catherine decides to travel to Crete herself and see if anyone can remember anything that may help her “solve the case” and gather some closure. After speaking to several employees of the different areas in Crete, Catherine has gained the courage to approach Susie’s friends and boyfriend to help her piece together what could have happened.
As Catherine winds her way through the events, she comes to a startling realization – she didn’t know her daughter as well as she thought she did. Was she ignoring Susie’s shortcomings because she was blinded by love? Was she not aware because she was neglectful? This is an emotional journey and brings to mind “be careful what you wish for.” There are unpleasant discoveries and revelations, some things better left unknown.
The 10 possibilities weaving known scenarios together was an awesome approach and I found them each to be coloring my opinions on who was responsible. Even with all of the well written suggestions of what happened to Susie, the end surprised me. I was on the edge of my seat from start to finish. Bravo!

This is book one in the series. The front of the book has a map of Patchogue which is helpful to orient the reader during the story. Murder on Oak Street has proved to be a well-woven and intriguing historical crime and investigation story. A murder mystery that keeps the pages turning and wondering who committed the crime. The author holds the readers attention through wonderful dialogue and scene description. I enjoyed reading this first book in the series and look forward to the next! Review by @bilberrysweet

If you love a good mystery full of plot twists, this one is for you! The author keeps you guessing right up until the very end, which will keep you engrossed in the story.
Daniel O’Halleran is tired of people overlooking theories and facts regarding murders. What point is there in working a case if they are going to come to the conclusion that they want regardless of the actual events? When his fiance stands him up at the altar, Daniel knows it’s time for a change. When he starts looking into a two year old murder case for a new acquaintance, he realizes it’s the first murder he ever worked and nothing seemed right about it to him. Then another murder takes place, practically in Daniel’s backyard and it’s just too uncanny for him.
This is a new-to-me author and I wasn’t sure about this book at first. I’m so glad that I gave it a chance as it’s highly enjoyable, and as previously mentioned, will keep you guessing on the mystery of these two murders.

Really enjoyed this historical suspense. A murder investigation gets pushed aside even though the coroner’s assistant doesn’t think the facts line up. When he takes a job across the river, another death ties the deceased with his first case, and he tries to untangle all the lies and get to the truth in both deaths. A house full of people leaves plenty of suspects, but can he sort out what happened before someone else gets hurt? This one kept me on the edge of my seat, with lots of twists and turns. I really enjoyed the historical notes at the end, which made the story feel like it could have happened in that very place.

Talk about coming in from the back of the pack, that’s exactly what I have done with this series. I wasn’t aware that this was the fifth book in the series. I am going back to the beginning though because I really enjoyed this one.
There is a bit of humour and a few twists in this intriguing murder mystery and let’s not forget thriller. Where our tough, no nonsense and straight shooter PI Jorja Knight is set on solving the mystery but there is more going on than meets the eye and that something is murder, although it may not be that simple. Is it a dangerous hidden plot or something otherworldly like a curse?
If you like thrilling murder mysteries, then Alice’s Knight in the Museum is just one of the books in this series that should satisfy your thirst.

I loved this book with a passion! I could not get enough! There was so much intrigue, characters with great development, and of course a plot that sucked you in completely!
I am a sucker for mysteries, but throw in an potentially cursed item…you truly have me hooked! The book took off at a great build. I enjoyed how nothing was rushed, but yet was not too slow! I loved how Jorja had to really use her skill…deaths and more deaths. How were they connected? How can she make sense of it all? As the story went on, I was wanting more. The more I read, the more entertainment and intrigue I got. Loved it! I will definitely read more by this author-definitely hooked upon first read or should I say artifact?
Great author! Great read! And exceptional writing! I could not get enough, I was hooked all the way through, I very much enjoyed this book. And for sure, I highly recommend this book and author!

Murder On Oak Street is the first book in the South Shore Mystery series and debut novel by I.M. Foster. As a debut novel, this proved to be well-woven and intriguing. It is an historical crime and investigation story set in the early 1900’s in Long Island.
We follow coroner’s physician, Daniel O’Halleran who leaves New York city for a fresh start on Long Island after being fed up with all the excessive bureaucracy and political play that came with his job, as well as being left at the alter by his fiancée on their wedding day- he’s definitely ready for a change. When an old unsolved murder case is brought to his attention, Daniel begins to investigate, and this is where things start to get interesting, especially when a new murder occurs. What happens makes for an intriguing and suspenseful read. Looking forward to continuing this series. Happy reading…
