The Magic Man is the third book in the Olympic Peninsula series written and narrated by Cat Treadgold.

 

This book follows David and Maddie through their wild ride of discovering if they will become a couple. This is my favorite book so far in this series. I’m really looking forward to book four. You can definitely read/listen to this book as a standalone but all of the characters are reoccurring and I love seeing how they evolve as the story goes on. It is refreshing that the author does her owe narrating in this series. She knows exactly what was intended in this audio and it shows in her work as a narrator. This is a great listen. I highly recommend this book, series and author/narrator. Excellent Job Cat!

How could she explain an attraction that shouldn’t exist? ~ Ava

This whole entire book has me feeling this way. Kingston is mean, deranged, broken and well, savage. He is the type of character that sees something he wants, and he takes it. There is no price limit, everything and everyone can be bought. Kingston has the funds, the means, and the ability to acquire anything and everything he wants. He wants Ava. So, he takes her. He uses her sleazy brother’s debt as the reason for taking her but throughout this story there is a deeper feeling, a deep fascination that Kingston has with Ava.
Ava is all that is good. Is she perfect? Not really but she is close. She is a little naive in the world around her. But I like to think she lives in her own little world, trying to make a good life for herself while not causing harm to others. She is not skilled or even very knowledgeable about the world that her brother and Kingston live in. Crime, greed, violence, death. While she has known of Kingston most of her life, she doesn’t know him, until now. Which brings her much confusion. He has basically kidnapped her from her mundane safe life. And brings out feelings she didn’t know she had.

This author touches on some subjects that may cause questions within the reader. Anger, fear, repulsion, concern, lust, interest, confusion to name a few. This story is violent, sexy in a rough way, and being a romantic at heart I can see the underlying hope for a happily ever after. Even if the HEA means these two characters are far away from each other. This story is the first part of the duet so there is not a HEA …not even a happily ever after for now…

Already starting the 2nd part of this duet because the writing is so addicting.

I Am A Bold Asian Boy is an Inspirational children’s book that my son and I truly enjoyed reading. This is a positive story about culture and being who you are. Being strong, proud, and knowing it’s ok to be different. My son loved the illustrations and told a story along with me. We highly recommend reading this book at any age and we look forward to reading more from this Author.

Unexpected by Laylah Abrams is a sweet star-crossed romance. It follows Nick (aspiring artist, student, and waiter) and Claire (rich, famous ex-model) as they learn what love is. Nick and Claire each have their reasons for staying and for secrets but when the tabloids get involved -who can say what is true? Or even guess what love is? I found this book to be an interesting twist on the common rich/poor coupling. It definitely deserves a read for anyone that like modern-day fairytale romance.

A Christmas Amish Courtship by Jennifer Spredemann is a quick-reading, sweet romance story. It’s the third book in her Amish Courtship series but read perfect as a stand-alone book. It follows Andy and Anne as they discover love. These two lonely souls open up to possibilities although both have had their hearts broken. There is some word choices and cultural references used to help embody the Amish way of life. Definitely a lovely book to read next to a Christmas tree and candle!

Dangerous Rhythm: A Reverse Protector Romance (The Echo Series Book 4)

This book has no casual build up the excitement starts at the beginning of chapter one and doesn’t end until the book does.

Curtis and Lina were just perfect for one another and glad they finally figured it out. I wish their story could have been a little less dangerous but then again I really wouldn’t have changed anything.

There were so many intense moments, but there were also some funny ones, there is one in particular that I’m still chuckling about.

I have had the pleasure of reading all of this series and I’m so glad I stumbled across Ms. Alam. Looking forward to the next book.

This is the 4th read of the Echo Series. I chose to read this book as a standalone because I haven’t read any of the previous books in the series. I loved the story line and the characters are easy to connect with. The book packed with suspense and adventure and adding a dice of romance in the mix. I enjoyed this read and I’m anxious to go back to book one and start from the beginning.

This book was such a great book. It has 2 books about 2 different couples and their story. You meet Damien and Bryanna in book one and Dereck and Layla in book 2. Each book has their ups and downs and heart wrenching moments. Both females and their counterparts have this spark that is off the charts. Both females are strong and fearless and don’t take no for an answer. They will go to the ends of the Earth for the people they love. The boys make great protectors and when they realize they have fallen for the girls it’s like a giant lightbulb moment for them. The writing is simply amazing, and the world is beautifully set up. There is action, romance and spice for everyone. Via is a wonderful storyteller and I absolutely loved reading this book!

Knight in Peril is the 6th book in the Jorja Knight Private Investigator Mystery series. I wouldn’t say this series necessarily needs to be read in order, the books work fine as standalones, but Knight in Peril will have more impact if you are already familiar with Gab from earlier books!

This story builds on anxieties around women travelling alone, as Jorja arrives in Istanbul to find her friend Gab is not there to meet her as planned. She then has to combine her skills as a PI with police forces in Istanbul and back home in Canada to try to find Gab, whilst also keeping herself safe alone in an unfamiliar country.

I love that in amongst the mystery plot we are treated to descriptions of Turkish food, landmarks and culture. It really feels like a holiday in a book! (albeit a dangerous and stressful one…).

I’d recommend this series to fans of suspenseful mysteries. It gets five stars from me!

Tom Grant is no stranger in the world of crime. In this story, Operation SweetPea shows up on James’s doorstep and forces Tom to come out of retirement. Very relevant topic of human trafficking is covered in this book and you won’t want to put it down. The writing is done is such a way that things twist and turn before a resolution takes place.

This book can be read as a stand alone but I do recommend reading previous books. I need to go back and fill in some gaps that will help make certain details much more cohesive.

If you’re looking for a book that has twists and turns that you could never predict coming, this is your book. This is my first read by this author and while this can be read as a standalone, I’m going to have to go back and pick up the first two books in the series. There is so much action, adventure, backstabbing, espionage, and drama that you won’t want to put this book down.

Isabella made a promise to her dad and it’s one that could cost her her life. However, a promise is a promise and Isabella is going to return to her homeland. That return is dangerous because there is a huge bounty on her head and she’s not entirely sure who put it there. Tom isn’t going to let her go alone because he can’t bear to be without her. What price is he willing to pay and to what lengths is he willing to go on Isabella’s behalf?

Such a great read and I’m looking forward to reading more of this author’s work!

I wasn’t sure what to expect when I picked this book up, but something about it called out to me, so I gave it a go. This is definitely one of my favorite books of the year! This was a relatable story that hit very close to home which made it impossible to put down. You will sit at the edge of your seat with a rollercoaster of emotions and astonishing twists and turns as you read through this book. I feel like this is a must-read for everyone, but please pay attention to the trigger warning/content guidance to ensure that it is an appropriate fit for you. I genuinely appreciate the time and consideration that shows in this book as we dive into trauma and how it affects every single area of your life. The endless amount of strength and courage that it takes to go on a self-healing journey is immeasurable. I can’t recommend this enough and can’t wait to see what this author has in store for us next!

My family and I always love it when we pick up a book from this author because we know we’re going to learn something. This book focuses on the beautiful starlings and the generational bond that Carrie shares with her grandmother. We especially enjoyed the education about starlings because their evening murmurations are a sight to see. I loved the illustrations as well as the way the font changed with certain words. My kids liked the way the words looked how they sounded which was really cool! I highly recommend sharing this book with the young ones in your life to show the magic of love and starlings.

Uncluttered is raw and emotional.
I needed a bit more at the end of the book to tie up loose ends, but it was still a good read.

Unclutter: A Survivor’s Story, the first book in the Inner Voice series by Winnie D. Pagora, is a rollercoaster of emotions that dives deep into overcoming trauma and finding your way back. The story is heavy and gritty, tackling sensitive topics like sexual abuse, mental health, and domestic violence. There are trigger warnings because it’s no light read. Truth is – I wasn’t sure I was going to enjoy it.

Tina’s journey is shockingly heart-wrenching, but you get to see her grow and overcome, adding a layer of depth to the story. Despite the heaviness, there are touching moments, true friendships, and resilience that balance it out. Pagora nails the realism without falling into stereotypes, and the relationships in the book feel authentic and nuanced.

Sure, it’s a bit wordy, and the heavy stuff slows it down, but that doesn’t take away from the overall impact. “Unclutter” pleasantly surprised me. It’s not your typical contemporary, but it’s a genuine, slow-paced exploration of recovery and relationships. It might lag a bit in the middle, but if you’re patient and up for a deeper dive, it’s definitely worth a read.

Another enjoyable and action packed contemporary romance which can be read as a standalone story. Lead guitarist for Canis Major, Curtis Bisset is a rock legend in the making and enjoys the lavish lifestyle that goes with it. Having witnessed a chilling crime and with a dangerous Mob boss after him he is forced to flee New York. For his safety Curtis needs protection and Lina Cheung, who used to work for the Army’s Intelligence Unit is the women for the job. It’s been two years since Lina worked as security for the band but she finds that their connection is still there. However, like last time Lina is determined to keep her emotions under control, but unknown to Lina her unrequited love is not just one sided. Curtis is thrilled to see Lina again and this time he’s not going to let thoughts that he’s not good enough for her, stop him from proving he’s the right man for her. As they travel around the world staying ahead of those that are after them Lina is concerned her feelings for Curtis will compromise her mission of keeping him safe, and must choose between duty and desire. The chemistry between Lina and Curtis really sizzled off the page and I loved how their relationship developed throughout the story. The storyline had me hooked from page one and the action packed plot kept me gripped until the last page. Both the characters and the setting came to life through the descriptive narrative. This was a real page turner, which I recommend reading.

This is Dorothy and Reverend Elias’ story, number eight of the many stories in this series. I enjoyed reading how these two unlikely people come together. With 2 plans and two people set in motion. These two live very different lives. After Dorothy lost her husband, she just can’t seem to pull her life together. The house is a constant reminder of the love she lost, and a love she will not have again. The good Reverend has seen his share of death, but when it hits close to home he decides to follow God’s lead and move on. So having that in mind what do you think happens next? I recommend you read this series from the beginning. There is so much that goes on with the wagon train, it quickly became a must read. This author is new to me, so is reading historical romance. But… this story caught my interest and I am happy I read this book. The characters are loveable and the writing makes this a fast paced rollercoaster of emotions. I hope you enjoy this story as much as I do.

This was a cute little story. I love how it showcased a little girl’s imagination and love of her grandmother. I think children who have a great imagination will really enjoy this story about Carrie and her magical wings. I am loving this series of books that Nevada and Chen are putting out for children, doggos, and owners alike! The concepts are easy to grasp, inclusive, and so well explained. The illustrations are absolutely phenomenal. I really just cannot get over how beneficial this book is not only for the dogs, but also the owners and their children. It is so educational and age-appropriate. This is definitely a must read and should be on your list of gifts to give new dog owners (especially if they have children). I cannot wait to see what these authors do next.

Auctioned: Dark Billionaire Mafia Romance by Via Mari is the third book in the Billionaire Bodyguards series. This is yet another amazing book that I have read by this author. It is such a strong addition to the series. I loved the characters in this book. They had such a strong chemistry together and their connection felt relatable. I found myself wanting to read more about them. The story itself has been really well written. I was hooked right from the start and I just had to know how it was all going to then out. This book really does has a bit of everything you could want to make it fantastic. This is a brilliant series and one that I cannot recommend highly enough.
Relentless: Dark Billionaire Mafia Romance by Via Mari is the fourth book in the Billionaire Bodyguard series. This is an amazing book – and series – from an author who has easily become one of my must reads. This is yet another book that I was hooked on from the start. It is and exciting story that is fast paced and intense. I loved Layla and Dereck and the fight they had to make things work. Their connection felt so real.
I would recommend reading this series in order so you can experience it as it was intended, and each book is definitely worth it. This is an absolutely fantastic addition to the series and I am already looking forward to whatever comes next.

Wayward by Via Mari is the first book in the Billionaire Bodyguards Series. This book is full of drama and intrigue. It will have you hooked from the start and does not let go!
Via Mari is a relatively new author to me but is one that I have already become hooked on. And this book is probably the best so far. I loved everything this book had going on. Right from the start I knew I was going to be in for a ride. The book had loads of drama. You could feel the tension and the chemistry between the characters.
In the best way possible I honestly felt like I didn’t know what was going on or what was going to happen. This author keeps you on the edge of your seat and firmly behind the characters. Which is amazing given that I didn’t really care much either way about Sasha in the Torzial Affair.
This was a brilliant book and a great way to start a new series.
Undercover by Via Mari is the second book in the Billionaire Bodyguards series. This book is a great follow up to the first in the series. This author really knows how to create lasting characters. I love how all of her series have that slight crossover. It really helps to connect even more with the characters she has created.
The story was fast paced and exciting. It grabs your attention right from the start. With the mystery surround Marenah it was easy to become invested in the story.
This is a great book and a series you should definitely try!

I have loved this series from the moment I started reading and I think this one has to be my favourite so far. Seraphina is a fantastic character. I connected with her so much more than I expected I would and I loved to see how she developed throughout the book. And Seth was just the perfect pairing with Seraphina. They were brilliant together and highly entertaining.
This author really knows how to create fantastic stories. Everything I read by her I thoroughly enjoy and I love that they are all so different. This book was brilliant to read and I am excited to see what else this series has to offer.

Again another astounding read, the continuation of the YA series about Makayla and her time at theGrave Digger Academy.<br />ANother year another set of changes, with a\ new head teacher, troublesome crones and more students: although not all of them are those we have met in previous years. There are places where people go to go away or be forgotten about and this involves Makayla. <br />The author continues to weave a web around these characters that makes you feel like you are part of the group. The development of these characters is continuous and interesting as they mature and grow. The world building is very involved.<br />A great continuation to series.<br />

This book is the debut novel for this author. This is a fantasy novel. It started off kind of slow for me but to be fair, I don’t typically read fantasy so I’m just not used to this style of writing. These characters were so well written. You feel Sloane’s persistence and strength. Sloane doesn’t quit and it really inspires especially given everything she’s had to overcome. The book was so well written you’d never know it was a debut novel. It made it worth reading!

While fantasy is not normally my jam, I’m glad I gave this book a chance. If you enjoy fantasy, this one is definitely for you!

A Journey for Dorothy by P. Creeden is the 8th book to The Reluctant Wagon Train Bride series. Dorothy is a volunteer nurse after 25 years of working in the nursing field. Her husband has passed away several years prior and her only companion has been her faithful dog, Scout, whom she enjoys roaming the land with. An opportunity arises for her to move westward on the wagon train heading to Oregon, and she wants to go. But the thing she has been avoiding since the loss of her husband is her only ticket to make this new life possible.

Reverend Elias Stone’s faith calls him to travel from Tennessee to the west to bring aid to lost souls. Dangers along the way lead him to Dorothy and the two of them entwining in what they plan to be a short-lived relationship of sorts. But is that really want destiny has in store for them?

I really adored the strength both characters displayed and trusting in their faith to guide them on their adventure to a new life. Beautifully descriptive, characters were well developed and yet seemed to continue their growth on their journey. For a feel-good, sweet adventure, this story was very enjoyable to read and would recommend to anyone who enjoys historical, clean romance.

Typically Wickstrom’s stories have a very overt lesson to be learned in them. This one takes a little longer to come to the surface. This is not one of my favorites from Wickstrom and it’s because I think that what she’s trying to convey to her readers isn’t overt enough. I understand that she is tackling the IDEA of loosing a loved one; however, it’s not clear and I think it may be hard for children to grasp that concept with the way that it’s been conveyed here. However, I think Wickstrom has opened the door for parents to talk about the loss of loved ones with this book and that may have been her intention all along. I always love Wickstrom’s combination of nature and science and learning into her life lessons. And per usual, the illustrations are wonderfully done. This book is just not as whimsical as her others (and dealing with the topic it does, it makes sense) so that could be why it just doesn’t catch my eye like most of her other books do. But like I said earlier, I think this book can open up a conversation about a very difficult topic.
