Unexpected by Layla Abrams is an opposite attracts, modern-day romance. Claire Morgan is an heiress who is far from the shallow air-head that she lets people believe she is. Nick Holden is a waiter/struggling artist who is about to lose his scholarship. These two feel that they have no future because of their class difference but act on their attraction anyway. Of course, there is more to them than the physical and now they must work backwards to see if they can make things work. I enjoyed this story. This is a reverse situation of the rich /poor dynamic and it is very interesting to see. The characters had great chemistry and it was fun watching them make things work. The inspiration and impact that they had on each other was wonderful. The story is very well-written and I found myself not wanting to put the book down. This was a fun twist on an old fairytale classic dynamic.

This is the 3rd book in The Diamond District Mystery Series. This is a cosy mystery filled with twists and turns that will keep you guessing from beginning to end. I read this book without realising it was the 3rd one however it didn’t take away my enjoyment of the story. These books can be read as a standalone however I will be going back to read the first too books in the series. This is a story based in the world of diamonds, from buying them to selling them and every part in-between. It was a really unique story as I knew little about the process before. Imparticular we are following 1 diamond that is supposedly cursed but is there such as thing as a cursed diamond?
When the seller of the “cursed” Diamond is found dead the our main character and amateur sleth decides to investigate. Was the diamond really cursed? What will happen to the person who now had possession of the diamond now? Will they suffer the same fate?
This is a story full of twists and turns, secrets and lies, cursed diamonds and a question everyone wants an answer to, who does the diamond belong to? And does it really hold a curse. Mimi is determined to find out and get to the bottom of the mystery even if it could put her own safety in danger.
I love Mysteries and this was fast paced and engaging. I loved how determined Mimi was to get to the truth and how that determination kept pushing her forwards. Overall it was a really enjoyable mystery.

Lela’s Choice by Jennifer Raines is a story about a woman who has put her life aside to care for her niece and father. When Lela decides that she must ease her family off their dependence on her, she finds out that her niece has run off to Malta with her boyfriend. As she rushes to find her niece she meets child protection lawyer Hamish McGregor. They get off on the wrong foot because Lela thinks that Hamish is one of her father’s henchmen and her enemy. This was a very good story. Reading about Lela’s struggles with her family and her interactions with Hamish was very engaging. Hamish’s determination not to get close to another woman was heartbreaking but completely understanding. The detail in the plot was wonderful. The characters are relatable and I had fun getting to know them. This is a complex story with a lot of heart and passion.

This book is part of a series, but can still be read as a standalone, though I doubt you will want to. Jorja Knight is a Private Investigator from Canada who is supposed to meet her friend Gabriella Rizzo in Istanbul for a vacation together. When Jorja arrives, she thinks it’s odd that her friend doesn’t show up to meet her at the airport as planned, but thinks that maybe signals had gotten crossed and goes to their hotel to check in. When she arrives, and Gab’s thinks are already there and look like they have been searched and messed up, Jorja starts to worry. When Gab doesn’t show up the next day, Jorja knows that something is very wrong, and reports her missing to the police who do not take her concerns seriously. Jorja knows that has no jurisdiction in Istanbul to look for Gab, but she knows that something is wrong and she can’t just sit idly by and hope for the best while not knowing where her friend is. When a friend and traveling companion of Gab’s is found no longer alive, Jorja starts to really worry for her friends safety and accidentally makes mistakes with her own safety that ends up getting her to Gab in a dangerous way. Now Jorja and Gab have to find a way to save themselves in a foreign country with corrupt cops, and other challenges.

This is not one of my favorite books. I honestly put it down and picked it back up and intervals muscling my way through it. Trigger warning * Normally the age gap doesn’t bother me but when the characters are portrayed childlike and the other an adult it was hard to get past. I know culturally these things can be acceptable but it was hard to get through.
It didn’t flow as easily for me as other books have. A grumpy / sunshine styled love that showcases both strengths and weaknesses of characters great. Struggling through their pain Naseen and Jade unite and triumph over the unfairness of life and build a flourishing bond that is very sweet to see.

I’m not really a romance reader but I love a good dark romance where the MMC is a dark, broody, villain type guy who ultimately has a heart of gold where his woman is concerned, and Kingston definitely fits the bill. Ava just so happens to be caught in the middle of a war between tall, dark, and cruel Kingston, and her brother Carson. Kingston absolutely takes advantage of the situation and he uses Ava to his advantage when he kidnaps her. A King So Savage is really fast moving, edge of your seat, thrilling read that delivers an exciting read but definitely comes with a few trigger warnings and I don’t know that Kingston actually becomes likable. I’d be interested in picking up book two to find out if he does. It also ends with a cliffhanger.

While ‘To Catch an Elf’ seemed like just a holiday story it turned out to be so much more. It is a romantic suspense novel concentrating on two main characters Marcie and Ted, you also have Zeke and Brittany, there was lots of drama, intrigue, suspense, and dogs, which are all the elements for a pretty great novel, along with a pretty creepy elf. If that sounds like your cup of tea then you should give this quick, slightly steamy novel a try.

Luna the Howling Husky by Samantha Shannon is another adorable childrens tale about a husky pup that is different from all the others at first, but as she grows, gains confidence, and a loving family she is able to howl like all the others. I have enjoyed all of Samantha’s children’s books including Jake the Growling Dog and I love to share them with my children because they really enjoy the story along with the fun activities that are included at the end of each book. The illustrations throughout the book were beautiful, well drawn, and fully encapsulated the book and story itself.

So I started this series with this book, which is book 4. I definitely liked this book as a standalone mystery. Hazel Smith is a wonderful storyteller and Murky Murder is incredibly atmospheric with its descriptions of the hotel, its characters, including Ivy’s Great Dane Monty, and the mysterious circumstances of the murder itself. Lives are quite literally on the line and it’s a thrilling rush to the finish. I think all cozy mystery lovers should give this a chance.

The 3rd book in the Amish Courtship series and my first read by this author. Love the “Secret Admirer” letters and then the way they truly end up falling. Such a great way to find what your heart really wants. I look forward to reading more by Ms. Spredemann.
Murky Murder by Hazel Smith is the 4th book in the Maid Ivy Cozy Mystery series. I’m sure this book is a great addition to the series, however, I’ve never read any others. It was a fine stand-alone book, though some things probably would’ve been better within the full context.
It follows Ivy, a maid at LaFontaine, newly promoted to Head Maid, during a weekend business conference. Things seem to be going well until a mysterious and cryptic letter arrives shortly before a guest is murdered. Ivy, her friends, and the police work together to solve tye case. It was a nice, quick read with a little romance between the mystery.

To Catch An Elf is a Romantic Suspense that will have you turning the pages till the end. This may be a short story but its packed with drama, suspense, secrets, stalkers, antique elf and so much more. The authors style of writing and attention to detail along with creative yet fully developed characters make for a great story. There’s enough suspense and a twist here and there to keep you on edge. This is Marcie and Tim’s story. She’s a dog sitter and is house sitting for Beverly while she’s gone for the holiday. But she’s not just house sitting and watching over Ginger she finds a note with instructions for the elf. Marcie isn’t impressed with the creepy elf and ginger doesn’t care for it either. Then there’s Ted the hunky neighbor who is interesting as well. She finds herself wanting to get to know him Tim is Air Force Fighter Pilot and sexy-as-sin. These have chemistry and there’s definitely attraction. But what will happen when weird stuff starts happening at the house Marcie is house sitting at? What happens when Marcie comes up missing? Can Ted find her before its to late? I highly recommend reading this book to find out what happens next? I’m looking forward to reading more from this Author.

Laylah Abrams’ Unexpected follows famous Clair Morgan, who falls in love with waiter/artist Nick Holden. Despite their completely different backgrounds, they have more in common than either of them would have thought, and they’re the only people who see each other for who they truly are. They’re also both insecure for wildly different reasons, and keeping their relationship a secret doesn’t help with that. My favourite character was Clair, because despite being rich, she’s really relatable. She works hard but is never taken seriously, and she’s scared to let her guard down. I recommend this book because it’s a beautiful romance between two unlikely love interests, but you can really see why they love each other despite their differences. I cried at the ending; happy tears. ‘In a world full of tabloids and masks, they had found something pure and gleaming and were going to bury it again.’
On her own since her parents died. At least Tanji is fortunate enough to have her best friends Mia and Caleb. When Tanji’s neighbor Maria dies and leaves her a bookstore. Tanji life is uprooted and changing. I really liked this book. It ended before I was ready.

Luna the Howling Husky Finds Her Howl by Samantha Shannon is one of the sweetest and best children’s books I’ve ever had the privilege of reading. I’m so glad the cover caught my eye, making me pick it for my grandchild. Love and acceptance are just two of the many wonderful things you can find within its pages.
The story opens with us meeting the unique Husky Luna. Luna isn’t like her brothers and sisters, many of whom have been adopted, while Luna is left behind. She is different, but she doesn’t let that or the fact that the others don’t want to play with her get her down.
Luna is able to find happiness just by being her unique self, which is such a great message in itself. Though as the story goes on we get to read even more heartwarming messages that, if you’re like me, will leave you feeling wonder struck. Between the amazing and engaging, talented writing of Samantha Shannon and the masterfully rendered illustrations of Lei Yang, this would be an automatic buy, but it gets even better with interactive pages that will help any child have fun while learning, as those pages continue to include messages from the book. This author and artist are both now on my to-read watch list.

I don’t think I have ever laughed so hard as I did reading this book. The chemistry between Jamacia and Callahan was amazing. Jamacia really doesn’t take Callahan’s crap for nothing, and she dishes it right back. The sass force is strong with this one. Although Callahan is like that slippery snake, he gets under Jamacia’s skin without her even noticing. She tries so hard to keep him at arms length, but he just keeps popping up wherever she doesn’t want him to. Callahan is sure a player, but there is just something about Jamacia that keeps him wanting more. They are the perfect duo and balance each other out. Although, does the past stay in the past like it’s supposed to? Or does it come back with a vengeance?

I picked this book up for my kiddos (8 and 11) because we have enjoyed other stories by this author. This one, however, is our favorite out of them all so far! A beautiful story about kindness, empathy, friendship, and making mistakes. The illustrations are gorgeous and really make the experience that much more captivating. I’ve even shared this book with the older kids in my family and have found that it starts such wonderful and necessary conversations! The focus on social-emotional learning is absolutely incredible. If we focused more on emotional skills just as much (if not more) than intellectual, we would see an amazing change. This book is an awe-inspiring start, and we cannot wait to see more! I recommend this as highly as I can to anyone with ANY young ones in their lives at all. Some of the adults in your life may enjoy it as well!

This was a great cozy mystery to read! I read this one first even though it was the fourth in the series. I plan to go back and read the others now after enjoying this so much. I didn’t find it hard to read even though I had not read the others first. I have recently started to love a good mystery read. I really enjoyed the characters in the story and the way the author writes. The author did a great job of keeping you guessing until the end on who was guilty. I also really love Ivy the main character and cannot wait to read more about her in the other books!

Murky Murder: An Utterly Addictive Cozy Murder Mystery is the fourth book in the A Maid Ivy Cozy Mystery series. Starting in, I was a little confused because this was the first book I read in the series. I quickly learned the key players in the series. Ivy, originally from the Midwest, works in a posh hotel in London. She leads the maids in the hotel but also solves crimes with her co-workers. I enjoyed the characters and Ivy’s interactions with the local police. You can tell she has irritated them with her crime-solving skills in the past. This is a light, cozy mystery that kept me reading until the end. I enjoyed the relationships between the characters and will go back and read the previous books in the series to get insight into how they developed over the series. I look forward to reading more from this author in the future.

This was a really cute kid’s story. my children really loved this book, it has amazing pictures that are colorful and go very well with the story line. This book has a wonderful story line about love and acceptance, Luna the husky doesn’t feel like she belongs. One day she makes a friend that isn’t of the norm, a cat, and the cat doesn’t care who or what she is. With this love from a friend Luna finally feels like she’s accepted and loved. But what she really comes to realize is she doesn’t have to feel loved and accepted to be the person you are supposed to be. I really enjoyed this book and so did my kids. What a great story.

This was a really beautiful kids story. There was so many lessons wrapped up in a cute story. My 6yo son and I really enjoyed it. The pictures were absolutely gorgeous. Then at the end, there are all kinds of fun activities to do. A great book to pick up!

This was such a cute story. I really enjoyed the message, that just because you are different from another, it does not mean you cannot be friends. Luna and Nemo’s friendship was so cute. They both learned to embrace their uniqueness and embrace who they were. I think many kids would enjoy this book and I recommend it.

I really enjoyed the first two books in The Olympic Peninsula series and this one was no different. The O’Connell’s are back in this book and it’s good to see what’s going with them. The Magic Man is a heartfelt tale well-written romance tale. The wonderful characters and the vivid narrative helps to move the story along. You will find yourself falling in love with our MC’s as they navigate their feelings. David is a changed man gone is the happy go lucky man he once was, and it has everyone worried. His past is getting in the way of something that could be amazing, oh and let’s not forget that a one temperamental fiancée. Just who is the Magic Man? The sexual tension is smouldering, but Maddie knows when it is time to walk away no matter what her heart feels. But could there be danger just around the corner? Cat has written something that will hit you in all the feels. With few emotional twists to navigate, the Magic Man, should not be missed. 4.5 stars There are warnings for trigger content so make sure to read that before reading this story. A King So Savage is just the change of pace I needed. It is the first book in The Savage Duet. There is nothing better than a captivating dark romance that is gritty, raw, bloody, and deadly. King is an alpha male. He is a little dark, passionate, possessive, obsessive, dangerous and knows what he likes and gets what he wants. She is nothing more than repayment or so he says but in reality, she is his and won’t let her go. Ava is beautiful and strong, and she is nobody’s pawn. She should be scared of him but something about him draws her in. Together they are hot, and sparks fly. I saw her. I wanted her. I took her. It is a compelling romance tale that at times was a little predictable but with angst, drama, emotion, secrets, danger, secrets, danger, and more. If you like an intense, dominant, possessive, utterly irresistible man who loves just as fiercely as he lives then you will love this book.

This book is a dark and intense romance story. It comes with a few trigger warnings but, if you are OK with them, the story is fantastic. I was pulled straight into this book and was consumed by Ava and King. Whether they love or have one another, their chemistry and connection is undeniable. The more I read about them, the more I wanted to read. I loved everything about the story line as well. It didn’t shy away from the dark themes and handle them with ease. This is a brilliant story and a great start to this duet.
