Kara, Shieldmaiden of Eire, the fourth book in the Forerunners series, kept me just as captivated as the first three. The preface was helpful, even having read the other books recently. Once again the world building, and mix of fact and fiction, was phenomenal. The author did a fantastic job with keeping the characters true to themselves in this book. I highly recommend this series! I am obsessed with the books in this series! From the setting to the characters- I truly enjoyed all aspects of this book. Although part of a series, each book begins with a recap, which is helpful, even though I have read all the books in the series. I look forward to more books from this author!

I love this series with a passion that burns within my heart! I can never get enough of the adventures this series takes me on, this one was no different, I was swept away with all this book brought to the table, and how the adventure that has been established, just grew into something even more legendary!
As always i loved this author’s writing, and how talented and creative the words that you read on the pages bring the story to life in the most amazing ways! This book specifically had a lot of character development, and I loved it concentrated on Kara. She brought her own spiciness to the table! The story progressed at a good pace, and you got to be intrigued and learn more of the adventure and the characters that it circled around! I loved this book from start to finish! Perfectly written! Loved it with all my heart!
The whole series is amazing, and this book alone brought a lot of awesomeness to the table I will say. i could not put this down, I was really swept away! Highly recommend this must read book and series!

Ermagherd!! What a way to leave me!! This book is a little more intense than its predecessors. I nearly choked on a gasp I wasn’t ready for and I gasped a lot. Fabulous writing! This book may have “Kara” in the title but it isn’t solely focused on her like Thorfinn and the Witch’s Curse focused on little Finn. And oh man! I thought everyone was split up before; but now, they’re even more split up as war comes and revenge seeking volvas exact a plan. I really loved the split view between Midgard the Realm Between during the war. Seeing the myths in action was especially epic. My heart is weeping for all of the loss that happened in this book and I will be ANXIOUSLY awaiting the next book to see where all of the Agneson clan ends up next.

The exciting adventures, of the now scattered, Agneson clan continues in this fourth novel of the series, and it’s as enjoyable as the previous ones. This epic series set in the Viking Age, but with added fantasy elements, is yet again brought vividly to life by the descriptive narrative, making me feel immersed in the story. The storyline mainly focuses on Kara, who is fleeing an arranged marriage, and with dreams of becoming a warrior, she escapes across the narrow sea. Kara gains a place within the king of Dublinn’s ranks, but must prove her worth, and soon she realises that, being a warrior is not what she expected. Elsewhere, Cub has joined Rollo’s horde in Britany, having escaped from slavery, and his outlawed brother Sorven, is fighting for his life in the Welsh mountains. Meanwhile, Uncle Karl and his warriors rally to Harald Tanglehair, in the hopes of unifying the wild kingdoms of the North Way. Young Thorfinn has been left safely behind, secure in a tiny fishing village, or so everyone thinks, he has in fact been kidnapped by an 8-armed giant! It’s nice being back with the main characters from the series, as they feel like old friends now. I would recommend reading the books in order, for a better understanding of the characters and the plot. As usual the historical details add to the sense of time and place. This is a real page turner which had me gripped, and I’m looking forward to book five.

Holy crap he did it AGAIN…this is the Third story in the Forerunner Series. You will definitely want to read these in order. I am a huge fan of Robert Jordans wheel of time series, if he had written about Vikings instead of high fantasy, this would have been it. Not to compare two authors, but for the sake of how much I LOVE the Wheel of Time series, this is a blooming favorite series that I hope continues on.
Finn and his Agneson Clan pick right back up in the midst of their journeys; character development, world building, good vs. evil are even more intense than the last book (if that’s possible!!!) There are plenty more the hidden folk, even a dragon makes an appearance. This is such a superb fantastical twist on Viking history. I’m not big into mythology, but there are quite a few references to Norse Gods intertwined with the humans lives.
Between the spiritual connections, human based rivalries and Politics, family ties, human trafficking, detailed accounts of history, and so much more you really will be able to sink your teeth into this. It can be a little difficult for me to keep up with all the unique names and places, I start to gloss over those parts a little bit. But now with the introduction of Kara I find myself immediately bonding with a character for the first time in this series, which is super exciting!!!
The good thing about this novel especially, is despite the maturing story lines, Jay creates an environment that can be fun and at times silly. Seriously can’t wait to read the fourth book in this series. Thank you for another amazing read!

This author has created an outstanding series. This is book 4 and it is full of almost everything you could want about Vikings. The author is very knowledgeable about the subject and it shows in the writing. Kara is one strong, brave and courageous woman. She has had to be during the war. It was great to read about Cub and Finn. I really enjoyed reading about Kara’s adventures. The book is exciting, has unexpected twists and turns. The characters are well-developed, even down to the soldiers without white. I feel like I’m reading a history book with fun. Learning and enjoying reading, two benefits that I have received from this series. I will be eagerly awaiting the next installment. I highly recommend this series. You will want to start with book 1.

The story has mythology, Vikings, hardships, violence, epic battles, danger, drama, mystery, and so much more. Jay cleverly weaves all the threads together to ensure the reader becomes one with the adventure and feel for these interesting characters. The world building is carefully crafted and a magical place where the unexpected is the norm.

This is the fourth book in the Forerunner Series. I have loved all these stories from the beginning. They are packed full of action and adventure and the characters are so well written that you feel like you are viewing their lives as it happens. The books are aimed at young adults, however I have found them all enjoyable. I do recommend reading the series from the beginning as some characters from past books make appearances and it give the characters more depth when you know what they have gone through to get to where we find them. The stories are historical fiction and the authors attention to detail and research of the times is what really brings the stories to life for me.
This story mainly focuses around Kara. She is an amazingly strong and determined woman. In a time where women were meant to just marry and be happy Kara set out to destroy that notion from the beginning. After fleeing an arranged marriage she tries her hand by trying for the Dublin guard. When she proves her worth on the battle field to be as good as any man her life seems set on the course she wants. But things aren’t that simple, with battles looming, confusing feelings and her family in danger will Kara be able to keep all the plates spinning or will her dreams crash around her?

You will want to read these in order. This sequel is the perfect follow up to “Thorfinn and the Witch’s Curse”. Jump into this new read, as Finn dives deeper into his destiny. I am 100% terrible with names, places, and understanding history, so to be able to pick up a book that makes history just a little bit easier to understand is such a savory treat.
The author continues this ride with plenty of character building, world development, and plot twists. It almost feels like we (the readers) are on the same understanding as Finn is, and as he grows with his Clan, we too are getting a better understanding of his mission and just how to get there. There are new characters, folk legends, and quests to be had. I love that being a Viking novel, Jay doesn’t disappoint. Between the blood feuds, revenge, oath making, family ties, and the challenges each character faces, this really isn’t a cookie cutter story.
This adventure is super in-depth, each character’s story can swallow you up whole and spit you out right in the middle of a feud. Will Finn find victory against his rivals, and can he and his clan hold their spot in history? If you are a fan of Vikings, fantasy, YA, dark intrigue, or the like then you definitely will want to check this one out.

Now that she knows what she can do, she NEEDS to know how this happened and why! Cat has to know EVERYTHING, which is a lot. While hunting for answers, Cat and her family gear up for a baking showdown with the other bakeries in the area. Cat, her best friend (and cousin) Robyn, and her sister investigate the competition in disguises and find out a lot about the different characters who bake in their town. They also find out really quick just how crazy things can get when they bake with magic without following the number one rule: Bake Happy. Bake Off is the second book in this fun unique high-jinx kids fantasy. I personally read this book, but I think my ten year old would love this book too. If is so funny and has recipes too!! I know my daughter and I will love trying some of these recipes and trying to make them low carb and low sugar.

Porters’ writing is so magical that I felt like I was in Oasis with all of the unique and fun characters she created. This book truly reminded me why I’ve always loved the YA genre! A must read!!

This was far different from the novels I have been reading as of late, and really stole my attention away from the real world. The author brings the reader into a world where females are, in my opinion, the far stronger sex, which is always exciting, and to a dystopian world like no other. The choices made, words used to describe the characters, world, and adventure that ensues is delectable to say the least. Ultimately, everything happens for a reason, and timing is a large part of that, as you’ll soon find out.
I love a good read that includes two characters that separate, are unsure of the future, but together make for a brighter future. This novel brought me that join, along with a smile, sadness, goosebumps and the hope that this world continues on in future adventure, as I have become a huge fan of this authors work, and look forward to following Bernard, Alva, and the rest of their world for some time. Highly recommend!

This trilogy comes to an end with this book that focuses on Cat’s continued baking escapades. I’m going to miss this neat little series of books that features some really good recipes, as well as a great story!
Cat and Nate still have a love-hate relationship. More on the hate side. When they swap family curses, things become a little more interesting. I do like that Cat got a taste of what Nate felt. Not sure the curse had the same effect on Nate in regards to Cat. I think it gave Cat a better appreciation for Nate, although she continued to be pretty icy towards him.
This is a great book for pre-teens and teen girls and boys who enjoy baking. It would be a great book to read with a trusted adult that could help them bake some fun recipes! There is a hint that Robyn might get her own story and I do hope she will!

I really enjoyed reading the story of Cat and her journey from “making” frozen waffles and microwave dinners to learning how to bake. It is a sweet story of a middle school girl who’s finding her way in more ways than one, from navigating her crush on a cute new guy who just moved to town to learning more about her family history she is discovering what makes her happy. Cat’s unique journey has allowed her to learn her family history and discover more about why baking is just so important to her family. Bonus: there’s a recipe after every chapter 🙂

If you haven’t read Bake Believe and Bake Off, do yourself a favor and read those, then read this you won’t be disappointed! I’m so grateful to Cori for introducing the wonderful world of Cat Anderson and her family. This story tied together the mystery of their family’s blessing/curse and I can’t wait to share it with my daughter, who is a big fan of baking. I’m sad that this is the last book in the trilogy but it concluded in a way that leaves me satisfied in spite being sad to see it end. PS- I have definitely bookmarked several recipes I plan to try soon 😉

I absolutely loved Jester by Brielle D. Porter! I couldn’t put the book down! I extremely liked Lisette because of her determination to achieve her dream, which I found relatable. With a speckle of magic, mystery, and suspense this book was able to tell an amazing story and made me feel like I was sitting in the audience watching the show. I look forward to more books by Brielle D. Porter since this is her debut novel.

I have been a fan since book one. Watching Cat grow and learn about herself and her family has been a fun journey. Book three is bittersweet, but was such a fun end in an amazing series. Cat and Nate are back at it when a mishap takes place and forces the enemies to join forces. Still quirky, sweet, and full of smiles we watch Cat in her element with the whole family close by. This was such a fun and feel good read! I am SO sad that this is the last of Cat’s story. I have fallen in love from day one, in Bake Believe. Cat is fun loving and adventurous. Like the other books in this trilogy, I love the point of view the author has created. Readers are inside of Cat’s mind while she is going on rambling tangents with her as she figures out her world. Cat’s brain works a lot like mine and I love that. Of course she could do nothing without her cousin and best friend Robyn, who compliments her perfectly while still being her partner in crime. One of my favorite parts is of course the recipes! Each chapter has a delicious recipe at the end that compliments the story. My daughters and I actually baked our way through this book and the recipes are DELICIOUS. It was such a fun way for us to connect as we read this story together.

Such a good ending to an enjoyable trilogy. Cat loves baking, but things change after a surprise dinner with family. Nate is family but Cat cannot stand him. After the dinner, Cat and Nate both have their lives changed. Cat wants things back to the way they were but in the end learns a valuable lesson.

This book intrigued me from the cover. I love how there are different perspectives in this book. The author knew how to make you want more and more. From the dialect to the attention to detail. I could not put it down. I was shocked by how amazing the plot to this book was. I highly recommend this.

Misfortune of Vision: Druid’s Brooch Series: #4 by Christy Nicholas
This is another wonderful book in the Druid series! The author does such an amazing job bringing me into a magical world. The details in this book are so vivid that it makes me feel like I’m there. There are twists and turns and as always great characters. I highly recommend this book and the other books in this series. These stories will keep you captivated and wanting more.

This is the second book in the Forerunner series. The author did a great job keeping the characters true to themselves. I love the way the author brings the story to life. I’m enjoying the mix of history and fiction. I can’t wait to read the next book .

This is my favorite in the series yet. This book is creative, well written, engaging and pulled me in from the first page. The characters bring the story to life and kept me turning pages. I enjoyed watching them grow throughout the story. Orlagh takes you on a journey or quest of finding an heir for her magic brooch. It has magic, page turning action and you have to find out if she succeeds but it is worth the read. I highly recommend this book.

What a wonderful end to this series! I have thoroughly enjoyed these books and really taken Cat and her family/friends into my heart. I really do love Cat, she has been such a great character to read about across all three books, she’s definitely made me laugh with her humour and her love of baking came across so well. She is truly wonderful at her job. I loved that the recipes continued in this book – such a quirky addition to the stories that I absolutely loved! Ive really enjoyed this book and indeed this entire series and would wholeheartedly recommend it to other readers.

Good cover, good read. It was full of mystery and adventure, and this book was a good page-turner with an excellent plotline and flow. It has that “just one more chapter” feeling. This debut novel gives its reader a wait of anticipation for the next installment. The author has a fantastic world-building ability and easily loveable characters. Suspense and supernatural powers help drive this first installment that leaves readers falling in love with its pages and eagerly awaiting more.
Overall, a good read, and will be waiting for the next.
