The Finder of the Lucky Devil (The Lucky Devil Series) AUDIO by Megan Mackie – Review by Meg Tyrrell

I’ve read this e-book, but loved it so much I had to hear the audio version. It was INCREDIBLE! The performance of the female and male characters were amazing and added to this story so much more. I loved everything about this and am such a fan of Megan Mackie. I’m so glad I listened to this audiobook because it gave me a different perspective than just reading it. Yes, I’ve “read” this book twice now, but SO WORTH IT. Totally recommend this audiobook!

The Finder of the Lucky Devil (Lucky Devil Series Book 1)The Finder of the Lucky Devil by Megan Mackie
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This is the first book in The Lucky Devil Series. The Lucky Devil is actually a bar. There is some mystery surrounding The Lucky Devil. The newest owner, Rune is one of our main gals. She was left with the Lucky Devil when her Aunt, the previous owner, died and left it to her. There is a small hitch in this newfound role of owner for Rune. She is hiding something and it may be detrimental to her being able to do her best job. It has already caused her a lot of pain in the past. Will it continue to do so? Will she be able to come out on top in this or will things crumble before she gets a chance to get used to the idea of owning this neat little bar?

There were some really neat descriptions and word play used to bring to life some scenes of magic and intrigue. Ones that I thought about long after I finished listening to this book. I loved how realistic this seemed even though there were some strong hints of imagination used. Overall, I am excited about this new series. Thanks so much Megan Mackie. On to The Saint of Liars!

The Devil’s Day (The Lucky Devil Series Book 3) by Megan Mackie – Review by Erin Wolf

The Devil's DayThe Devil’s Day by Megan Mackie
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I give The Devil’s Day (The Lucky Devil Book 3) by Megan Mackie 5 stars.

This series grabbed me from the very beginning and each book gets better and better. This one is no exception. There is plenty of action and suspense going on, but we also see how much Rune and St. Benedict have grown, and continue to grow. The characters are what really make this series. But they are not the only ones in this book. You will see those from previous books return, as well as some new characters. The story itself is so complex and enchanting. The author does a fantastic job of creating a world and story unlike any other. While in the same world as the previous books and an obvious continuation, this story is unique and enthralling. I hope this series never ends.

If you are a fan of urban fantasy with realistic main characters, this book and series are for you. In my opinion, it can be read as a standalone, but you will understand more if you read the previous books first.

The Devil’s Day (The Lucky Devil Series Book 3) by Megan Mackie, is just the next in a series of very excellent and imaginative stories. I have been following this story with avid interest. I’ve really been cheering for Rune to step into her role as Mistress of her house. And the relationship between her and St. Benedict keeps me on the edge of my seat. Slowly but surely all my questions are being answered. This is a great story on its own but its fantastic when you start at the beginning. You owe it to yourself to start at the beginning of The Lucky Devil Series you will be glad you did.

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

The Devil’s Day by Megan Mackie is the third book in the Lucky Devil series, and was a good read. This book is not a stand alone novel, it’s much better to read the other books in the series first. I have read the first book in this series, but not the second book, and because of that I was thrown off quite a bit in this story. I still enjoyed this novel, but I would have enjoyed it a lot more if I would have read the second installation as well. The storyline was really good, and the characters were great. This series (what I have read anyway) is definitely a good read.

The Devil’s Day by Megan Mackie is the third book in the Lucky Devil series. I highly recommend this book but first, insist you read the other books in the series first. The primary storyline continues throughout the books and I feel you would miss out on a ton of great stuff without reading the series in order. Rune Leveau has a new challenge on her hands and St. Benedict, cyber-spy, is by her side to help her try to get her way through. There is some romantic tension between these two characters but neither is wanting to act upon it, there is just too much at stake. If you like adventure, a futuristic setting, with twists and turns I think you will really enjoy this series. I look forward to reading more from this author in the future with great anticipation.

I’ve come to really enjoy Megan Mackie’s writing, specifically the Lucky Devil series. The Devil’s Day is book 3 in the series and though it is a full length novel and longer than my recent reads, it kept my interest and flew by!
I have really enjoyed the character development throughout this series and venture to say The Devil’s Day may be my favorite installment!
I would recommend reading the series in order as you don’t want to miss a twist, turn or ounce of character growth. Megan Mackie is definitely an author I want to read more from!

This is my 3rd book in this series and I’ve loved all three of them. The Devil’s Day is the continuing story of Rune Leveau who is running the Lucky Devil bar that her Aunt Maddie left her and also she is learning how to use her newly found magical powers. Honestly, you have to read these in order. With the way Megan Mackie writes and how well she intertwines everything, you can’t read these as a stand alone and even begin to scratch the surface of this story. Don’t miss out on Megan’s ability to draw in a reader!

The Devil's DayThe Devil’s Day by Megan Mackie
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This is book three in the ‘The Lucky Devil’ series by Megan Mackie, the storyline is set in an alternate Chicago where technology and magic are in competition with each other. This is an urban fantasy/cyberpunk novel with a fast paced storyline and some great characters. I thoroughly enjoyed being back with Rune and visiting her ‘Lucky Devil Bar’. I was pulled back into the alternate world that Megan Mackie creates and was I excited to join Runes adventures again. “You can always find help at the Lucky Devil” and Rune Leveau who rebuilt her own life there continues her Aunt Maddie’s legacy, in her memory. Rune is an emerging magical Talent and an ex corporate prisoner who is days away from having to defend her claim to the House of Magdalene, which includes the bar. Rune and her partner, St. Benedict, the cyber-spy are looking for a way to defeat the fire Talent, Abraxas who is her challenger when they uncover long kept secrets. The pair hope that these might hold the key to Rune’s claim. This is an enjoyable and engaging read which I would recommend reading as part of the series as the storyline does continue from the previous book, ‘The Saint of Liars’. It has an action packed and exciting plot which had me hooked from beginning to the end and includes some brilliant characters, especially Rune who is a great main character. The authors wonderfully descriptive narrative and amazing world building really bought both the characters and the setting to life and ensured that I felt fully immersed in the story.

Journeys Through TimeSpace (Journeys Through Book 2) by James Talisman – Review by Colleen Noyes

Journeys Through TimeSpaceJourneys Through TimeSpace by James Talisman
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Mr. Talisman’s second book I must say was even better than the first book. One of the things I appreciated most about this one was that there seemed to be more personality with the characters. I loved how Matt, Julia, and Dan had almost a sibling banter. There were several times that I laughed out loud because I could visualize it. I enjoyed the way that certain storylines circled back to part of book 1 and I found myself thoroughly engaged in the adventures from beginning to end. Mr. Talisman does a very good job of visualization without overdoing it or leaving huge gaps of filler. Over all I felt much more connected to this story which makes me longing for the next one. You could also see the growth in the author’s writing and commitment to detail. While this is not a genre I read often, I was enthralled and would recommend it to anyone that likes adventure, treasure hunting, and much more. Well done Mr. Talisman!

This book is not my normal genre, but I found it so intriguing! The author does a great job of bringing the reader in visually. As you are reading you can close your eyes and feel like you are right there. While I loved all the characters I would love to see them split into two books, it was hard for me to keep up with them all, but that is probably just a personal thing. Each character had a unique personality, no two were the same and I loved that there is nothing else out there like this book that I’ve ever seen. I can’t wait to read more from this author and see how they grow. I found it hard to believe this was a debut novel, because it was that well written. There is action, mystery, scenes that could be in a movie and even some romance. I immediately felt connected to a couple of the characters which always keeps me glued to a book and I couldn’t put this one down!

Whew, I’ve decided this is my favorite so far of the whole series, although because this is not a genre I normally read I stay pretty confused a lot, but it doesn’t take away from the enjoyment of the series and the writing, which I fully appreciate. I feel as if I need to go reread the whole series because this author has such a talent for making me want to understand everything happening and I am looking forward to doing that.

There’s a lot of moving parts in this story, readers of this genre are getting everything they would need in this story. I love the deep relationships in this book and the romance is done in a way that it doesn’t take over the story, but definitely there. Rune is an amazing character and her part written beautifully

I will absolutely read just about anything by this author, her writing style is one that I completely enjoy. I am totally invested in these characters!

Awesome!

This book was a grab you by the first page and not let you go until the end kind of book. I recommend reading the first two books in this series before embarking on this one. This story is full of magic, danger, suspense, drama and wonderful characters. The author does an exceptional job writing with such vivid detail that you feel like you’re in the story and you can’t help but become invested in the characters and the storyline. There are unexpected twists and turns, I couldn’t put it down until I got answers. This is truly a gem. There is a lot going on in this story with many characters but it all flows together so nicely that you don’t feel lost. I find this to be such an original series and I am so glad I dove right in. I highly recommend this book.

The Devils Day by Megan Mackie a Devilish five-star read. This is number three in the Lucky Devil series and they are all sublime, I would advise to read the whole series as they do fill in the story, there are so many great deep characters that you may miss tiny details for if you don’t and it may not be much, but it could be the key to really getting the character. This story and series have been brilliant at lifting my mood and transporting me into the story, I felt like I was there with Rune, has that horrid pit in my stomach as though I was the one possibly losing everything. I was there with Rune wanting to tell her to face up to the secrets and not bury her head, to realise that the secret has the power not what its about. This has been a great series and I cant wait to hear more form this author.

The book is full of twists and turns that had me turning pages long into the night. Rune Leveau’s character has grown so much over the past three books. Journeys Through SpaceTime (Journeys Through Book 1) by James Talisman – Review by Roxsanne Lesieur

Journeys Through SpaceTimeJourneys Through SpaceTime by James Talisman
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This is a story which spreads across multiple times and communities within the Multiverse where a chosen few are gifted with the ability to hear an ethereal voice and given special training from a group of Masters of Esoteric Wisdom. The chosen are of all different walks of life, from a beautiful Queen, to a soldier and a student, but all with the same mission to improve the world in a way that only they can. The book starts by introducing these teachers and the All-That-Is when they all gather in an auditorium where a beautiful and ethereal being of light and colour appears to spread a message of love and instruct them on the teachings that they are to give to their students.

In the next chapter, we meet these chosen people, starting in the Critonian Empire where Cassius is about to become embroiled in the next battle with their neighbouring empire, as he is in the melee of swords clashing on shield and bloody violence on both sides. As he is preparing himself, he thinks of the battle and why they are fighting in the first place, questioning where the need is for this senseless killing at all, he then experiences a voice telling him that they will return soon and to not forget the lessons that he has learned and that he will survive what is to come, he then briefly blacks out and when he comes to, his friend is protecting him and he finishes the battle which they win in the end. As Cassius celebrates their victory, he cannot help but wonder who the voice was and what the message it gave him meant.

We next go to Earth where Matt is doing his martial arts training with his friend Dan and it is during the cool down laps of the building where he experiences a voice telling him that they must leave, but that he must remember the lessons from his past and it is important that he does so but that they will return to him, he also then proceeds to black out. When he comes round, Dan is concerned about him but Matt ensures him that he is ok, Dan says it is because he hit him too hard in training, to which Matt responds that it seemed to be him who was taking more hits, all this is said in friendly banter.

We then meet Queen Neferities, a beautiful and fair ruler as she is sat on her palace balcony and watching the world go by while thinking how beautiful her country is and how the society she has helped to create is a wonderful place to exist, while also being a place that pays homage to it’s past with monuments is has placed throughout the city. She reminisces about her father and how he helped her to develop her interest in engineering and the sciences when she was a child so that she could develop her skills of understanding the complexities around them. This is as well as being taught the Esoteric Wisdom and the ancient teachings around reality and the Alchemy of Mind associated with it. She then passes the day meeting with her advisors and eating with them until she returns to her balcony to meditate on the knowledge gained and to plan her actions the next day. As she begins her meditation, she journeys to the internal space where she is at complete peace and can think about all that she has experienced during her day, it is during this meditation that she feels that someone has entered her chambers and it is her most trusted servant to tell her that her bath is ready. She enters the bath and proceeds to bathe and be washed by her two female attendants, just as she decides to enter the soaking bath, she feels dizzy and blacks out, this is when she hears the voice tell her that it must leave for a while and that she should remember her teachings and that she will need them to face the coming evil. She is then pulled from the bath by her attendants and decides to retire to bed where she can rest and think on what happened.

Next, the Co-Councillor of the United Commons of Eurotopia Rashella is thinking of all the progress her people have made over the years to become a peaceful community to work together and share the resources available to them while looking after the planet they live on and those within their solar system which they travel to. They are beginning to think about furthering this travel and have begun working with another peaceful culture, the Andotians to work together and further each of their technologies by sharing information and experience, this includes defensive as well as offensive technologies due to the realistic possibility that not all spacefaring cultures will be as peaceful as they are and that the need to defend themselves against this possibility is essential. Their culture is based upon the Esoteric Wisdom passed down to their elders by alien sources and has been essential in building the structure of the beliefs which created the society they live in today. As the meeting with the Andotians comes to a close, they agree to go for drinks after and Rashella goes to her apartment to change and meet her husband who goes to the meet up with her. It is during the meal, drinks and conversation that she blacks out and hears the voice in her head saying that she will be alone for a while, that she must ensure that Eurotopia continues as it is and that it is an experiment of the most successful kind. After this experience, Rashella and her husband leave the event and go back home.

In this next part, we meet Hirisho in Hydosito prefecture where he is sitting on a mountain top and looking over the valley where he lives to escape from his duties in the Shogun Lyshido’s elite troops within his army, for which he was chosen when he demonstrated his skills while exhibiting a sword made by his father on the Shogun’s visit to his village twenty years before. He goes back to his barracks to sleep and wakes up refreshed and ready for the days training with the rest of the elite troops. They complete the morning warm up and training where they are all shown the basic moves for the weapon they will be training with that day and he is matched with someone of equal experience, stature and skill so it is a taxing training session and good workout, this is until he hears the ringing in his ears and blacks out. The voice he hears when this happens tells him to continue on the path which he has forged and that he is ready for the next level of his training and that it will be back soon. His training partner helps him up and asks him if he is alright, Hirisho replies that he is and he is thankful that he didn’t hit him in the head.

The final chosen one is a resident on Elipsson, a desert planet with heat and cold which goes with it, as well as the limited resources left on it, this leads to the factions living on the planet being in a constant state of war and this makes this reptilian humanoid race a very violent one. A hundred years before, a spacecraft crashed onto the planet and it is this that has enabled the Elipsson culture to reverse engineer its technology to improve their technology and make them the ruling faction on the panet. It is the summer solstice and time for their highest ritual, the Hecatomb Ritual and the celebration which follows it, we meet Tyson in the middle of his work day where he is going to the baths to soak in the cool water and escape from the heat, while there, he is thinking about the night’s ritual and whether it is really necessary or whether it is an archaic ritual which shouldn’t have a place in today’s society. The soaks in the bath enable Tysson to meditate and think about the things within his culture which he doesn’t agree with, he starts to discuss this with his friend, he blacks out and hears the voice telling him that it will be away for a while, but that he should continue on the journey he has chosen and that his progress has been a pleasure to observe, after he comes back around, he realises that his friend has stopped him from drowning and they decide to call it a day and get out of the pools.

What will the future hold for these individuals and how will their paths develop over time? Will they be able to learn all the things they need to in time, or will time run out for them? The only way to find out is to follow them on their journey’s and find out.

The Devil’s Day (The Lucky Devil Series Book 3) by Megan Mackie – Review by Katie Kearney

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

The Devil’s Day (The Lucky Devil Book 3) by Megan Mackie. Once again I found myself completely drawn in to this story world this author has created. Each book gets better than the last and sometimes that can be difficult and I applaud this author for making sure an interesting and engaging storyline that has me coming back for more. The characters each bring this story to life in their own way. The author does a wonderful job of writing a story that jumps off the pages. It’s easy to stay inside it’s pages for longer than planned. Can’t wait to see where this author takes readers next. Four stars and highly recommended.

Megan Mackie has outdone herself with this latest installment in The Lucky Devil Series! I have to say this has to be my fav yet, and I do have to say you should read the first two books in the series before diving into this one for the max effect of everything. Once again I just could not put this book down and read it well past my bedtime to see how things would turn out for these fab characters I have so grown to love.

In The Devil’s Day we find Rune and St. Benedict finding love within each other. Rune must find a way to stake claim to the House of Magdaline for good but the Devil has his own plans as usual. He will come back to claim what he says is his. I love Rune and her sassy self as much as the rest of the characters but she shines the brightest in this one. I cannot wait to get my hands on the next one!

The Devil’s Day by Megan Mackie is the third book in the Lucky Devil’s series. Personally I would recommend reading this series in order as it follows the same characters and is a continuation of their story.
This series honestly just keeps getting better and better! Each book I read instantly becomes me favourite one until I pick up the next. It takes no effort at all to fall back into the story and the characters that you come to love so much.
This book is exciting and fast paced. It feels like there is something happening on every single page and I just couldn’t read it fast enough. I hadn’t heard of this author before this series but now she easily falls into one of my favourites. If I see a book with her name on it I wouldn’t hesitate to one click immediately. This is a fantastic book that you should read today!

Thrilling and non stop action! I am glad I am not a character…I would need a breather. They just keep jumping from the frying pan into the fire….and then back into the pan again. So much goes in in here. I would recommend reading the first two to get some background and help with this one. We see a lot of heart stopping and shocking moments. That Rune really impressed me since she came off all flighty previously. Yes there are times I really don’t follow all that Uncle Lucas and St Benedict say but it’s all part of the bigger picture.

I think I said the last one is a fav. But this one overtakes my feelings on that. It answers a lot of questions but not all. I really feel that as these stories go on they became more magic filled and less steampunk. Which I loved. St Ben really seems human with a few augmentations and on the cover he looks like a robot. Why? Maybe I’m wrong. Anyway this is a small wonder that I have.

Over all this story is amazing. The places this author takes us are as many as there are the characters. I couldn’t hardly put this down as the suspense kept me glued to the book. I highly recommend.

The Devil’s Day (The Lucky Devil Series Book 3) by Megan Mackie – Review by Gail Guerrero

Four Stars

The Devil’s Day was by far my favorite book in this series so far. Megan Mackie didn’t disappoint with this one. There is action, magic and twists. I really like Rune. I feel like the author wrote her really well. The fantasy alone was worth the read. This world that the author created has so many interesting characters. The story is well written and gives you a little more. When Rune receives a challenge that could take everything from her. She buckles down and does everything she can to keep her bar. The author didn’t miss a beat. St. Benedict is a interesting character as well. The romance is so intense to me. I also like that it doesn’t overshadow the main goal. Overall get this series so you can enjoy it too
