House Valdis Origins: Xenobia by Naomi Valkyrie

5 +++ Stars

YES!! I was so excited to get my hands on this short but packed full of everything I didn’t even know I needed after reading the 1st of this series. I wasn’t even completely aware of all the questions I had after reading The Rise of House Valdis. What I really liked was that even though this comes before that part it worked perfectly reading it after.

This is a super short story but didn’t feel that way. I think I read it in about 15 – 20 minutes but the content made it feel like a full length novel. It was so easy to get lost in, I had to slow down my reading. It was intense and I could almost see it all happening, I loved that remembering back to the 1st book I always wondered when Xen’s inner dialogue would mention Urd, Now I understand.

Normally I would say I needed more, but in this case the time jumps were perfect and it gave me everything I needed with none of the unneeded fluff. I can not wait for book 2 of this series and I might even read this and the first again before that.

Awesome story, awesome series and this author is simply amazing!! She has taken a genre I don’t normally choose and has made me completely anxious for the next!

Her Blackened Soul (Blackened Series Book 1)
By Isra Sravenheart. This story was a bit outside my comfort zone but was enjoyable and I look forward to more in this series. This author is also new to me and I like the writing style. The characters are complex and pulled me in effortlessly and I found myself lost in the pages. When I first started I didn’t feel an immediate draw but I didn’t let that stop me and I’m glad to say it had my full attention quickly. It’s a very unique storyline that I for one haven’t seen before and I think that’s what I liked most about it. The storyline is paced nicely never feeling rushed. It’s a creative storyline that I’m excited to see more about. Four stars and recommended.

I enjoyed this fantasy story. It brings action and an adventure you won’t soon forget. This is my favorite by this author yet. One thing I enjoy about this author is how I am pulled into the story right from the beginning and this book is no different. This is a well written story that has characters that bring the story to life. I had no issues connecting to them. This is a story about Etain. She grew up with the stories and what she thought were fairy tales about Alamir. In truth these stories were more of a teaching for her destiny. She was taken in by a clan after an assassin took her family from her. Now she is determined to find the demon. Will one encounter mean life or death for her? I enjoyed her character alot. She is a strong character that made the story entertaining and easy to read. This is a dark fantasy that I highly recommend.

I enjoyed this magical fairytale of dwarves and humans. This is an engaging story that pulled me in right from the beginning. It is full of magic and secrets that are buried inside. This is a well developed story that kept me turning pages. The characters made the story easy to read and made the story feel realistic. This story is about Valentina and Nisse. Together will they find a way to bring peace to the dwarves and humans again? Will fate allow them to find the happiness they so deserve? They are great characters that I really enjoyed throughout the story. Together they brought the story to life. I highly recommend reading their story.

House of Illusions
By Pippa J. Frost
5 out of 5 stars

I loved reading the book House of Illusions by Pippa J. Frost. It is a fantasy story that pulled me in and didn’t let me go until the final page. I found myself lost in the pages and not wanting to put the book down. I loved reading about the characters of Valentina and Nisse. I grew to care about what happens to them with each chapter that I read. Other additional characters are also enjoyable to read about and some who are only out for themselves with their evil agenda. The author does a wonderful job in world-building and I felt like I was right there with the characters. This is a story that includes danger, a bit of romance, and a curse. The words and characters come alive from the pages and I found myself turning pages to find out what happens next. I just had to know how it all turns out. Don’t miss out on an intriguing and entertaining book that should be added to the top of your TBR list of stories. I highly recommend it.

Four Stars

Her Blackened Soul is the first book in the Blackened series by Isra Sravenheart. This Fantasy/Fairytale is the first book I have read by Ms. Sravenheart. I was sucked in from the very first page. I had to keep reading to find out how it was going to end. Lady Isra is a dark witch who over time just drops deeper into the dark side. Taking the power of a dragon and spiraling into the darkness until she meets Astrid, the raven. The story flowed smoothly and the characters were well defined. I really enjoyed this book and look forward to reading the next book in this series.

I loved reading the book Alamir (Blood of Kaos Series Book 1) by Nesa Miller. It is a story that grabbed my attention from the start, and I found myself hooked. It is a book that includes action and danger. The story is intriguing and entertaining. I loved both the storyline and the characters. Etain has to be my favorite character. She is strong, determined, and doesn’t back down. I also did enjoy reading about the additional characters that interacted with Etain. Each has their part to play in the book and I found them to be interesting. The author does an amazing job of world-building. I found it original and I enjoyed how it is introduced and expanded up during the tale. I found the story to be written in such a way that I felt like I was right there with the characters. Her Blackened Soul is the first book in the Blackened Series, and the first book I have had the pleasure of reading from Isra Sravenheart! The cover art is stunning, and the plot is full of potential for the books to come! With some parts of this story taking darker turns, I was kept on the edge of my seat as i continued to read. I do recommend this book, though it does progress a little slowly, it is still a very good book! I look forward to seeing where Isra takes this series!

Her Blackened Soul (The Blackened, #1)Her Blackened Soul by Isra Sravenheart
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

Her Blackened Soul is the first book in the Blackened Series by Isra Sravenheart. This story is a unique fairytale from the “villains” point of view. I wish it was written in 1st-person point of view so we could really get in the mind of the main character, Lady Isra. I feel like there was a lot more telling instead of showing of events and emotions. I like that Lady Isra owns the fact that she is evil and doesn’t really care what others think of her. I would like to see more character growth, but that may come in later books in the series. The story kind of ends on a cliffhanger, so I’m hoping Lady Isra finds herself with more love in her heart.

Her Blackened Soul (The Blackened, #1)Her Blackened Soul by Isra Sravenheart

Her Blackened Soul (The Blackened Series Book 1) by Isra Sravenheart This is my first book by this author but it won’t be my last. Its a very dark, mysterious book. A different take on fairytale stories where the villain is the main character. Lady Isra is a very powerful witch with a black heart but she also has depth to her. Due to past relationships she has major trust issues and maybe even anger issues. Isra hates humans because they have feelings and she especially hates anyone weak. When Kane approaches her for help she offers it but in has conditions. Will she end up killing him? When the humans send her on a trip she meets Lillian, Kane’s fiance and Lillian may change Isra’s opinion of some humans. Astrid is Isra’s closest friend and he is her eyes and ears to protect her. What will Isra do to Astrid? Will she let her live or will Isra have a change of heart? This book was so vividly descriptive that I felt like I was in the forest with them. Read Her Blackened Soul to find out what happens.

A different perspective

I really liked that the book was written from the perspective of the dark witch. Lady Isra’s character and the dark world she lives in reminded me of all the fairy tales I used to love reading about as a child. The story was well written and kept my attention. This is the first book I’ve read by Ms. Sravenheart and and I’m sure I’ll be checking out her other books.

Her Blackened Soul (The Blackened, #1)Her Blackened Soul by Isra Sravenheart
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I will start with I absolutely loved this book’s cover. It had all the colors and the eye grabbing graphics to pull me in without even reading a word of the synopsis. Isra Sravenheart is a new author to me so I decided to go in blindly off the basis of the cover. While this book does have a great idea behind it, the villain is our main character and we see the good and bad sides of her so we can make an informed decision on whether to like her or not rather than just knowing she is a villain. I like the idea and the dark fantasy version of it as that is honestly some of the only times I enjoy reading fantasy. This book just unfortunately for me never really took off for me the way I had so hoped it would. I would be very interested in seeing the other novels in the series that are available though. Maybe as we go things get stronger in the pacing of the books? I enjoyed this enough to give it four stars but I do hope that the next few coming up has just a bit more oomph to the books. I want to be whisked away into the dark worlds the author is trying to portray and hope to be soon!

I enjoyed this book. This story has originality, magic, fantasy, romance, and wonderful characters. Lady Isra is dark and evil, and she likes it that way. She prefers to be alone and away from humans that she feels are inferior to her. The relationship between her and her companion Astrid was interesting and I enjoyed reading about it. The author did a wonderful job in the details especially when Lady Isra would walk in the forest, I felt like I was right there in it. I would have liked to know what became of Romeo. This is my first book by Isra Sravenheart. This is a fantasy style book leaning to the “dark-side” of witches. It was an interesting take on a “villain’s” point of view. Our main character’s name is Lady Isra of the Dark. She is very knowledgeable in all things magical. I’ll be interested to see where the author takes this story in the second book.

If you are into fantasy stories, you will like this one as well. I would classify this story as a dark fantasy romance story. The story is told from the Evil Witch. It wouldn’t be a good fantasy story without one. Lady Isra is the evil queen. She knows that she is the evilest queen in the land. She has made herself unavailable unless you were magical. Could you even imagine casting a spell so no one would take an interest in you? Along comes Astrid, a raven. He helps Lady Isra find her heart. The characters are complex and believable. I felt like I was right there with Lady Isra. Will Astrid turn Lady Isra’s heart into someone who is can be loved? Will Lady Isra let her guard down or will she punish Astrid for trying? I highly recommend this story to see what is awaiting Lady Isra.

This reads just like a fairytale for adults. Not just the story itself since it is about a “wicked witch”, but also in the way it is written. It is a fun story with interesting characters you meet throughout the book. The story also keeps you guessing. There were a few things I did not see coming.

This was a fun, interesting supernatural/fairytale read and if you are a fan, this book is for you.

Her Blackened Soul (The Blackened, #1)Her Blackened Soul by Isra Sravenheart
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Her Blackened Soul is the first book in the Blackened series.

I will be honest; I struggled a bit with this book. I LOVE the premise of the story. It has a lot of potential. I gave the book four starts for creativity and originality. What I had a difficult time with were the parts of it that were slow-moving. I felt like the book didn’t have a steady flow to it.

Her Blackened Soul is written in fairytale tale style, but from the villain’s angle. I am a fan of dark fantasy so I enjoyed that aspect of the story. Overall, I feel like this book could be fabulous with a little bit of added depth and removal of some of the more repetitive parts (i.e. the constant reminder of Isra’s evilness).

Even though I had a challenge with this book, I’ll probably check out book two to see if the writing has progressed. It may be that this book, because it is the first in the series, is a little bit rougher and things will polish up as it goes forward.

My rating: 3 of 5 stars

Her Blackened Soul (The Blackened) by Isra Sravenheart is about a villainess who is a witch and very, very dark witch at that. It is a dark fairytaleish type story even as dark as the Grimm brothers. Not that this bothers me, I like dark and twisted sometimes but only if it is done right. For me the characters didn’t quite have the depth and growth I would have liked, and I found the constant reminder that our villainess was bad and had a dark soul a bit too much. I also found the story to be slow and found myself wandering whilst trying to stay focused. Just because it didn’t live up to my expectations, I have high standards, does not mean it will not for others, so please give it a go as it is an original concept.

Her Blackened Soul by Isra Sravenheart was a good book, but not great to me. I expected much more from reading the synopsis, and I was just a little disappointed in what I got. It wasn’t a bad book to read, it was just very slow to me building the story up, and it read so much like an old fairytale, but it wasn’t as short as a fairytale, so it just made it seem that much more drawn out. The characters were great and it had a great storyline and plot, it just wasn’t what I expected going in to read and I guess that just threw me off a little bit. I did enjoy reading this book however, and I do want to read more from this author in the future.

Her Blackened Soul (The Blackened Series #1) by Isra Sravenheart

This is the first book that I’ve read by Isra. This was a wonderful read. This fantasy had me in the world of Lady Isra. This is the first book in The Blackened Series.

Isra, a dark witch, is learning more of her powers. She shields herself from the humans eyes so she can move about. She no longer believes in love. The quote I choose for Isra is: “No, I will not stop. I will not give my magic up. I will not surrender any power, no matter what ! But on a more humorous note, I am much better than what I used to be. I have control; I can do what I want. Like you said, you never asked for this job, so go back to your army of golden messengers and leave me be.”

Kane, a human, can see through the shield. He knows he shouldn’t seek her out, but he does. When he learns she’s not going to help him with what he wants; he knows he’s in for it. The quote I choose for Kane is: If I survive this, by God I will change my ways. I will be a better man. I will be the warrior my father wants me to be. I will be good. I will do good. But only if she doesn’t kill me first.

I highly recommend this for anyone who loves Fantasy. This will leave you on the edge of your seat wanting more.

This story is about a witch who gets revenge on a selfish man. It had a very fairytale vibe to it. The thing that I liked the most about the book is that the main character was a villain. Unfortunately, the characters were flat. Had they had more depth maybe I would have enjoyed it more. I found the story slow and quite repetitive. The witch constantly said how bad she was and how dark her soul was. The narrative felt like it was someone reading a story to a child.

This is the first book in the Blackened Series. Its a great story filled with adventure, fantasy and romance.

I loved the fairytale feel to the story and it was unique in the fact that the story is from the side of the ‘villian’ and not the hero, Prince or Princess. I loved the characters they were easy to feel attached too. The story is easy to read and keeps you hooked.

Lady Isra is a witch who over the course of time due to heartache and the attitudes of the people around her has turned into a dark witch who’s only plans is to cause death and destruction. That is until she gets told about a man seeking her out.

What the man whats and who he is she doesnt know but her immediate reaction is to get rid of him. When he arrives however her plan changes and a whole new adventure begins.

Her Blackened Soul by Isra Sravenheart is the first book in the Blackened Series. This book is a dark fantasy book that is certainly a bit of a twist on your normal story.
This is the first book that I have read by this author and I definitely enjoyed it. The idea for the story was a strong one, and one that certainly held my interest. While I found that the actual story fell a little flat in a few places I thought overall it was well written and the writing style made up for this.
I enjoyed reading about character of Isra. It was nice to read about a character who seemed truly dark for once, instead of just playing at the idea. Again there were times when I thought her development needed a little work to it however she was overall an interesting character.
This was a good introduction to this author and I will definitely be reading more of her in the future.
