Not So Broken (Love Grows Series Book 1)Not So Broken by Renee Regent
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Not So Broken, by Renee Regent, is the first book of the Love Grows series. This story is a contemporary romance that brings together two unlikely individuals who each have their own secrets. Set in Georgia, the author provides all those details to showcase the difference between small town and big city living. The main/lead characters, Gibson and Sacha, are irrevocably drawn to one another. The hurdles that they each have to maneuver gives great depth to each of them. The supporting cast of characters add additional light to the story. Both Gibson and Sacha show emotional growth as the story progresses. The method in which Renee Regent has these characters work through their struggles was well thought out. I look forward to read future books by this author.

Caught in the Spin, the Caught series book 2, by Sharleen Scott continues the romantic suspense theme experience from the first book in the series. In Caught in the Spin, we follow Tallie in her story amidst the drama, danger, action, and more. This story was enthralling and I could not put it down until I finished. Sharleen Scott has a way with her writing that delves into the story in such a way that makes the characters unforgettable – they may have flaws, but there are redeeming or aspiring qualities within them that make them shine. I enjoyed reading the events as they untangled in Caught in the Spin and waiting to see which way the ride shook them out.

Alicia Street’s Rainy Day Lovers is the third book of the Rocklyns series. This contemporary romance story was emotionally touching, full of growth, values, and more. The opening scenes captured my interest and the following chapters maintained it. I felt this story was completely intriguing, well written and filled with a mix of elements that make the story more than just romantic words on a page with a dash of drama thrown in. Raina and Roman were beautiful characters and much more than the facades shared with the world, there was true depth to the characters. Building Storm, by Gwyn McNamee, is the fourth book in the Hawke Family series. This is a contemporary romance that fits well within the series, but holds its own, as well. Storm is such a strong character even though it may not appear so. I found this character to be amazing and the development and growth that occurred outstanding. The continued overlap of characters from previous novels in the series makes this story more fulfilling and deep overall. The chemistry is this book just sizzled every time Storm and Landon where together. It was magical and absolutely magnetic. The drama was perfect and added just that right amount of something more to make this story great.

Rowena Holloway’s Bad Things Happen is the first book in the Ashes to Ashes series. This gripping psychological suspense was a thrilling page-turning read. The element of suspense was expertly timed keeping me fully engaged within the story. The details that were embedded into the story were rich and well thought through. Charlotte’s character shone in this story with her ambitions to move out of where she was presently in life. However, things don’t always play out the way you would anticipate and that is absolutely the case for Charlotte when Joey comes into her life and changes everything. The unknown was riveting to read in this story and seeing where it took the characters within the story.

Tapped, by Tarrah Anders, is the third book in the Night Moves series. This contemporary romance brings Kai and Janae together in the most unlikely of places after years apart. This story was a fun read and the locale where it was set was perfectly described and in tune with the overall story. The way Tarrah Anders tackled this second chance romance was ingenious and I really liked how she overlaid several different dynamics within the story itself to create a multi-dimensional story with intrigue and attraction. I don’t want to give away any details of the story, the characters each have their own lives they’ve been living and choices that have shaped who they presently are. How they maneuver around one another in the present was evident of that, but how they come together was amazing. Tarrah Anders did a remarkable job with this story.

At times, I could not turn that pages quick enough to see what was to happen next – I was completely involved in the continuing story. Victoria and Brad had a love that couldn’t be ignored and they both grabbed on to it and pursued that relationship to it’s fullest. The drama immediately begins as they moved forward to spend their lives together – enter the mother-in-law. Judy Moore has given the allure of evil incarnate in this story in the form of a mother-in-law. However, not everyone sees the facade that is seen from the outside. Brinda Berry’s The Shape of Trust is the fifth book in the Stand By Me series. This new adult/college romance was touching, unique, and rife with pieces of drama filled obstacles that need to be overcome. He comes across as a charismatic and dependable individual, but yet afraid at the same time. Enter Lily. She’s just an amazing character. Of course, she has her own unique challenges in her life, but she works to make sure they don’t define her and attempts to arise above.
