My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Elegantly Denim: An Elegant Prelude, by Tee Smith, is the introduction to the Elegant series. This contemporary romantic suspense sets the stage for the series in such a fashion that is intriguing. This novella will leave questions of where the series will take the reader, but it provides the peak into where the series will look to start. The character personalities were not fully detailed, but appeared flawed, yet beautifully done. After finishing this prequel, I am now deeply curious to see where this author takes me next through the series.

Imperfect Heart, Combat Hearts Book 4, by Tarina Deaton is a well written romantic comedy. This story of Zoe and Tim is absolutely hilarious. I thoroughly enjoyed the way the story began and the hi-jinks that follow make this a great novel. Zoe is a strong female character in this story, but she can’t deny that she needs help at some points. The question is, how much can she take and from whom. Then, adding Tim into the mix, and he has a protective streak a mile wide. Their personalities clash, but at the same time, the magnetism between them is undeniable from the beginning. This was a fun story throughout.

This author has created characters that each strongly stand apart from another without clashing within the story. Dane’s intensity in this story is the epitome of the alpha male. How he works to protect and support Lauren was superb. Not only was the romance in this book amazing, but the story sequence/plot was well thought out, put together and shared with the reader. Aless’ story continues and the author takes us deeper into her story, her growth both in ways she aspires to and those she does not, as well as, the emotional interludes that drive Aless’ on her journey. The strength that is shown in Aless is amazing, under no circumstance could most live or attempt to live their lives with the cards this individual has been dealt. Necie Navone is a strong storyteller and the way she has come at this series is remarkably done. She has created characters with individuality to stand apart, yet flaws that show you their strengths and weaknesses. This is not a simple tale, but one full of suspense, dynamic imagery and twists.

The opening scenes in the first chapter(s) immediately captured my attention. The characters each stood distinctly apart and made me inquisitive on each of them – to include who they are, what they are doing and their pasts. These are not simple, one-dimensional characters. This story is suspenseful along with the romantic elements that are tied in. There are emotional ties, raw and hard that are being fought, pushed upon and resisted. It makes a great story for Hard as Steel, not only for this individual story, but begging the reader to take a chance on the other books within the series.

Credence Woods, by Alexandria Sure, is a contemporary romantic comedy. This story was a riot to read, but at the same time, there is a lot of self discovery that is part of this story – moving on from the past and finding who you truly are apart from any misconceptions. I could not put this story down and read it in one sitting. I have previously read several other novels by this author and this one is my favorite, by far. Talk about one sexy alpha male that you can just feel the southern gentleman vibe dripping off of him – truly delicious. Kennedy is one independent woman that wants to stand on her own, not to obligated to another man – but you can feel that something about Max just changes all of that. This contemporary romance follows Faith and Greg, who were minor characters in part of the previous book in the series, Must Love Fashion. In Must Have Faith, the reader learns what caused the bride-to-be to bail on her wedding to the love of her life. Regrets, longing, misconceptions, second chances are what is delivered in this story. Romance in Rehoboth Boxed Set (Books 1-3) by K.L. Montgomery – Review by Heather Bahm

Romance in Rehoboth Boxed Set (Books 1-3)Romance in Rehoboth Boxed Set by K.L. Montgomery
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

K.L. Montgomery’s Romance in Rehoboth Boxed Set (Books 1-3) includes Fat Girl, The Flip and Plot Twist. I’ve read of the books within this set and each was thoroughly enjoyable – highly recommend. Here’s a summary of my thoughts of each of these books in this boxed set.

Fat Girl
Fat Girl, by K.L. Montgomery, is Claire Sterling’s story. She is almost 40, divorcing her husband, moving back home, and veering back into the dating scene via online. However, she fears that she will always be a fat girl.

Most of us can relate to this story in some shape or form. We have all looked in the mirror at one point and seen ourselves as others do, some piece of disappointment in ourselves. A failed marriage with a cheating ex-husband and now being a single mom venturing back into dating trying for a new relationship. Insecurities abound and trying to find a way to respect herself and love herself inside and out.

K.L. Montgomery touches on real life issues. It is in your face, right there in front of you, in black and white on the pages. Claire’s character definitely has many roadblocks in her life that she has to knock down, move around or avoid. She’s courageous to move into dating at a later age and the unknowns of whether a person is truthful or hiding something. There were many times in the midst of reading this story that I wanted to sit right next to Claire and ask her what would you tell me… and then, don’t you think you should do the same for yourself?

Fat Girl offers several laughable moments. If you aren’t quite sure on your next book to read, I would recommend this book as everyone should be able to relate to some piece or part of this story.

The Flip
The Flip, by K.L. Montgomery, is the second book in the Romance in Rehoboth series. This romantic comedy features Andrew and Sonnet with their relationship shifts from that of high school dynamics of dislike to something that changes in a way neither of them anticipated.

The characters are well developed and I felt that their chemistry flowed smoothly and was not forced. I honestly enjoyed their antics in the story. This author does a good job in their writing for this series/story. I did previously read Fat Girl, the first book of the series. The Flip was as good as the previous book and I loved the characters of Andrew and Sonnet. K.L. Montgomery is great at romantic comedies and kept me on my toes and laughing through this novel. The story was addictive and a true page turner.

Plot Twist
K.L. Montgomery’s Plot Twist is the third novel in the Romance in Rehoboth series. The author overlaps several characters that appeared previously in the series in subsequent books as supporting cast members. I enjoyed how these characters overlapped between books. Within Plot Twist, the main cast includes Meric and Lindy; this romantic comedy has all the major elements, to have you laughing to wiping stray tears, to wondering what in the heck that last conversation was?! The build up in this story was well paced and created allure and intrigue into possibly where the author was planning to take these main characters and when they would peak and/or plummet. The story was fun, inspirational, and everything in between.

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Love, Christmas – Movies You Love is the second installment in the Holiday Series. This set features an amazing abundance of stories from a glowing cast of authors that deliver and do it well. Among my favorites within Love, Christmas are:

A Royal White Christmas by Leanna Banks
A Royal White Christmas is set in the country where one small-town girl meets a friendly neighbor. They continue to connect and the chemistry these two have within reach of one another cannot be denied. This was utterly sweet and a perfect example of meeting your fairy tale prince in the most unexpected of ways.

A Christmas to Remember by Cynthia Cooke
Seconds chances are possible, if circumstances allow. In A Christmas to Remember, the author has provided the landscape for what may be impossible to become possible. Fate has plans other than the characters anticipate and keeps pulling them together. Will they succumb to this or will they forge on the path they believe they need to be on? This was truly a holiday to not forget!!

Christmas with the Clouds by Suzanne Jenkins
Christmas with the Clouds is not a story I anticipated when I began reading, truly emotional and raw. I felt for Tracy in this story and tears were hard to keep at bay. The author did an excellent job in creating a touching and story full of growth and potential.

Boyfriend Wanted for Christmas by Melinda De Ross
It’ll happen when you least expect it. Nothing like a time crunch to push you to find something that has been elusive in your life. In this holiday story, the author provides the reader with plenty of laughs while looking for that “boyfriend” for the holidays.

I am always a huge fan of anthologies and this holiday themed set is no exception. Many of these authors I have not read previously and now look forward to reading full length novels from them in the future. These stories all pair well together in the theme and make a perfect holiday read.

Calling the Curveball: a Lawson Family Novel, by Tracey Cramer-Kelly, is a sports romance. From the beginning the author has woven the story with characters that are broken in some sort of way that touches the reader with their story. Two individuals who may not have necessarily found one another are brought together initially over a game of baseball, with its underlying theme throughout the story. Both Kira and Jamie are charismatic individuals with passions that seem to intertwine, but they each have their own faults that they are trying to live with and move on from. Jane Suen’s Alterations Trilogy includes: Alterations, Game Changer and Primal Will. This is a science fiction/fantasy/psychological series. I found this trilogy unique and quite enjoyed how Jane Suen tied this series together. There is a lot for three characters, each with their own stories, to be compiled into this short stories. We get a glimpse into their stories, but there was the potential for much more to be added and/or expanded into with each of the individual women.

Alterations:
This is a story that will push your concept of what is possible and real versus what could be possible beyond our imaginations. This is about three women who are seeking change, but what they are seeking may not ultimately be what they receive. This was the first written work that I had read by Jane Suen and I was absolutely intrigued after reading the synopsis for this story.

I usually avoid same gender romance plots/stories as they are not my preferred romance stories. However, I have read several other stories by this author and wanted to see how she tackled this story line. To say I was impressed would be under appreciating the talent exuded by Manda Mellett. This story held true to an MC theme while embarking into the M/M element and it was tastefully done. Joker and Lady each have their unique character traits that were well suited for them and complimented one another along the excursion it took them upon. There was such an underlying theme of family that stayed true within the story despite indications/inklings that things could change, you could feel it present.
