Books like these tend to stick with you and resound deeply. Emotional, gripping, raw, real. This story of faith, of healing, of pure emotion, just drew me in immediately. Hawke (Men of Syn Book 1) by Anise Storm – Review by Heather Lovelace

Hawke (Men of Syn, #1)Hawke by Anise Storm
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

From the summary I knew that this book would be one that didn’t fall within my normal reading queue. That said, the author, for me, didn’t belittle or make light of the lifestyle she explored. The characters were relatable and complex. The relationship between the main characters was well established and layered. The plot had a natural ebb and flow to it. I connected to the characters insomuch that I cared about them and wanted to know how things would resolve. A very good read and one I look forward to seeing continue in future books of the series.

Amman continues to leave me breathless with her wide array of books and characters. I cannot even begin to explain how much I enjoyed this book. And truthfully I don’t even know how to put into words how much I enjoyed this book. Amman has an innate ability to engulf the reader into her imagination and develop a new world with complex characters and themes that challenge you to consider lines between good and evil, right and wrong, black and white. I truthfully wasn’t sure what to expect when I picked this book up. But truthfully it is best with a book like this to pick it up with a blank slate. Thank you Ms. Amman for sharing this amazing treasure with your readers. It is extremely well written and just a delight to enjoy.

Happily ever after – check. Forbidden love – check. A whole lot of steam – check. This was my first book by this author and I thoroughly enjoyed it. I always love finding new authors to read and new series to dive into and this hit both right out of the ballpark. The characters were well developed and felt very relatable to me. The plot flowed seamlessly. I found myself entranced immediately and had a hard time walking away until I had read the last page. If you like romance and HEA, you need this book in your life.

I am a sucker for a fairy tail and even more so for a new take on a classic. This book was an enjoyable take on one of my favorites. I felt that the tale took some nice deviations from the original and yet stayed true to its roots. Who doesn’t want to have their happily ever after? All in all, this was a sweet adventure and perfect for a cozy afternoon.

Extremely well written, I jumped into this series blind not having read the previous installments yet found myself enthralled at the action that unfolded before me. A very solid and engaging romance from start to finish. Sometimes good romance still lends itself to the predictable paces found in many stories. This book did indeed have some expected moments occur as anticipated. But that didn’t detract from the storyline. In some ways it only enhanced the credibility of this story. This emotionally charged tale left me wanting me and anxiously awaiting the next book in the series. Strong characters, solid plot, romance – I truly enjoyed this book.

Dalby does a beautiful job weaving a Civil War era tale with riveting characters. I simply couldn’t read this book fast enough and was hooked from the very first page.
