LOVED THIS BOOK! I was eager to read this from the charming synopsis. I love a good cozy mystery and love finding new authors. And what a goldmine I stumbled on! This book stands beautifully on its own but now that I know there are more by the author in this universe I cannot wait to get my hands on them all! Pease is just brilliant – I love her writing style and her wonderful characters. Just a fantastic book that I will most definitely read again!

Where have I been that I missed this sweet and engaging author?? I haven’t read anything by her but when it came across my timeline I saw the bright and sweet cover and knew I had to check it out and see what story laid beyond it. I was so pleasantly surprised with how much this novel swept me off my feet as I read. This book has all the holiday cheer you could want with a holiday book and plenty of other layers like cozy mystery, romance, and some paranormal tidbits as well. There is literally something for everyone in this perfect holiday read. I will personally be going back for more of Heartwood Hollow’s stories and more of Joanie I hope as well. These characters will make you feel as if you have a whole new family to visit from time to time. I want someday to experience a small town Christmas like the Hallmark movies tote because it seems so magical and unique. This book read like a Hallmark movie and has won a spot on my favorite list. I can’t wait to see what else Rosie Pease has available and whatever may come in the future from her!

Sweets and Santa: A Paranormal Cozy Mystery (The Matchmaking Baker Book 2) by Rosie Pease is a Christmas quick but fun read. Christmas in Heartwood Hollow is supposed to be peaceful and loving time with a little magic thrown in to make it special. It is full of matchmaking, magic and roaming Gnomes but when things go haywire and the finger is pointed but is it pointed at the right culprits? Just who is behind it and will they get back on track for a wonderful Christmas spirit? The story is a short read but is a real ‘whodunnit’ mystery, just what is needed to get in the festive mood.

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

‘Sweets and Santa’ is an enjoyable paranormal Christmas cozy mystery novella and part of ‘The Matchmaking Baker’ series, however it can be read as a standalone story. The storyline is packed full of mystery, magic, and matchmaking which is all happening at Christmas. It is Joanie’s first Christmas as a bakery owner and although she is confident with her perfect recipes she is less happy with her holiday window decorating skills. The festive spirit in the town of Heartwood Hollow is overshadowed when items start disappearing and when an engagement ring goes missing from the bakery Joanie’s reputation is at risk. Having believed her town to be safe baker and matchmaker Joanie wonders if it’s a prank or something more sinister. As well as trying to find the ring and win over the town with her cookies, Joanie is also concerned about the Christmas gnomes that get moved each night. Joanie needs some Christmas magic to help her work out the mystery and I was definitely left feeling full of the Christmas spirit having read this fun novella. An enjoyable and engaging read, I was hooked from start to finish and enjoyed solving the Christmas mystery alongside Joanie. I look forward to reading other books in this series.

Sweets and Santa: A Paranormal Cozy Mystery is the second book in The Matchmaking Baker Series by Rosie Pease. I can’t believe I haven’t discovered this author before now- because after reading this, I know that I’ve been missing out on some wonderful stories. I enjoyed this book so much that I will definitely be going back to one-click as many more of her books as I can find.
This is a wonderful Christmas story- full of all the magic and spirit of Christmas that makes these types of books such a delight to read, anytime of the year. It has a small-town community feel- with mystery, magic, secrets, a little of the paranormal- and some unique and clever touches that really made this story quite memorable.
Joanie’s is one of Heartwood Hollow’s newer residents- a gifted baker, she has spent a long time renovating her bakery and getting everything just right. She opened the doors to her shop some months ago- and even though she has had the bakery for more than a year, this is the first Christmas she will be able to enjoy in her new hometown. Things are getting underway and all the businesses are decorating for the holiday- so she is extra excited to join in all the festivities, decorate her shop front- and even come up with a few unique Christmas recipes. But things begin to go missing from all around town, and adding to the mystery- the town seems to be overrun with decorative gnomes. Things take on an intriguing turn the closer to Christmas we get- making for a sweet, feel-good story.
I will be diving in to explore more of Ms. Pease’s stories, and the rest of this series as soon as possible.

Thank you, Rosie Pease!

I give Sweets and Santa: A Paranormal Cozy Mystery (The Matchmaking Baker Book 2) by Rosie Pease , 5 stars.

What a fun read! This is my first book by this author, so I knew nothing about the characters or world this is set in. While I liked Joanie in this book, I hope she grows more into herself in future books. However, this book seems like it’s leading up to things, which is great for me, you are constantly waiting for the next thing to happen. Trying to solve the puzzle is the best part of a cozy mystery and this book exceeds expectations in that part. I love this inclusion of the gnomes too, what a brilliant, fun, and original idea! The other characters in this world really make this good book exceptional.

If you are a fan of paranormal cozy mysteries, I definitely recommend this book.

Sweets and Santa (The Matchmaking Baker Book 2) by Rosie Pease

5+++++++++++ Stars

I don’t even know where to begin with this review. I picked this book up because first I love a cozy mystery and the cover was interesting and the blurb was enough to have me hooked. This is my first book by this author and I’m already a forever fan. The second I finish this review I will be going to her page and getting whatever is available with this series and these characters.

I can’t even describe in words the writing style of this author who had me so wrapped up on page 1 that I couldn’t stand it when I had to put the book down for things like “adulting” yuck!

I felt like I was transported to Heartwood Hollow while I was reading, I could envision everything and it just deepened my desire to move to a small town just like it. Suncraft Bakery is like an unspoken dream of mine so living that through Joanie in this story was like experiencing it for myself. Now I want it even more, add a few books and tables in the bakery and call it done LOL The writing in this story made me feel like while the recipes were being created that I had to wipe flour off my hands, I could smell the creations. Simply amazing!

The storyline is so unique and it seems that it’s an ongoing story and from what I’m seeing the full length novels start next, this has me needing them even more since I hated when this one was done. Adding in the matchmaking and the little pieces of paranormal as she did was genius. You don’t even really realize it’s a paranormal although it obviously is.

This is EASILY one of my favorite reads of 2020 and I will have them all as well as following this author for whatever else she comes up with!

This is a must read Cozy Christmas Mystery!!

I enjoyed this paranormal Christmas mystery. This is a well written story that has characters that bring the Christmas spirit and a whodunit mystery to the holiday season. This story is about Joanie. She is in a new town and has a new bakery on top of it. Things start disappearing around town including her bakery which could put her in a bad position. Will she find what is missing? Will Christmas magic be on her side? I enjoyed how the characters brought the story to life and made it feel realistic. It is a shorter story but it was well done and easy to read. I highly recommend this holiday book.

Running In Snow: A Holiday Novella by Renee Regent is a super quick read and is made up of two short stories in which are set around Christmas and New Years. I found myself lost in the pages and truly enjoyed both stories and was wishing they were longer. In the first story Noelle’s Promise we have Noelle she hates the holidays but has promised her boyfriend and lilly his daughter that she will spend the Holiday them. She makes it through the party until a family member gets loud which brings back memories from her childhood. What does the future hold for Noelle? In the second story Eve’s Hope. Eve doesn’t like the holiday either and New Year’s eve is no exception. But when her heat goes out she accepts her neighbors invite over to his party. Find out what happens next in this must read.i look forward to reading more from this Author.

This is a lovely read for the holiday season, with two heartwarming tales to get you in the mood (plus there’s snow!). Although a quick story with little plot, the way the backstories of the main characters were revealed and the way this played out into the character development was delightful. This was a warm book and super quick and easy to read. I would have loved them to be a bit longer. Nevertheless, the characters were relatable and well-written, and the stories were interesting. A sweet holiday novella.

These two stories were the perfect way to kick off the holiday season. The author did a wonderful job illustrating how past experiences should not dictate current life experiences, which is a great lesson for readers to learn. The first character Noelle had to overcome her past anxieties to be able to celebrate new traditions with her boyfriend. I feel like I related with Noelle the most because I also deal with anxiety and the holiday season can be a very trying time. The second character Eve had to learn how to break her holiday bad luck by going to her neighbor’s New Years Eve party. These two stories were a quick afternoon read that left me feeling uplifted and in the holiday spirit.

Running In Snow consists of two short, sweet novellas that I thoroughly enjoyed! It was absolutely perfect for a quick afternoon reading break!

Story One is Noelle’s Promise. This is about a woman who had something bad happen as a child that resulted in her never, ever celebrating Christmas in any way. She avoids all this Christmas cheer like it’s the plague! This year, against her better judgement, she has agreed to spend the holiday with her boyfriend and his family. Can she get through one week without being overwhelmed with tragic memories? Can she get through one week without making these people think she’s completely crazy??? Noelle and Logan are such a great couple!

Story Two is Eve’s Hope. This is about a woman who swears she is cursed and refuses to leave the house on New Year’s Eve and refuses to drive ANYWHERE in the snow! So what is a girl to do when her heater breaks in the middle of a freak Atlanta snowstorm that happens to be on New Year’s Eve??? Head over to the HOT neighbor’s house is what! Will her curse continue or will things change at the stroke of midnight?

Both of these stories were beautifully written and pulled me in. You know it’s a great story when you are completely absorbed in it and can feel an emotional pull to the characters in a book that only takes about an hour to read! These stories will leave you with feelings of hope and happiness which is something we can all use this time of year and always!

Running In Snow, A Holiday NovellaRunning In Snow, A Holiday Novella by Renee Regent
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Noelle has faced a tragedy at a young age that has left her a bit anxious about the holidays as she’s gotten older. For her, they hold very bad memories along with the wish to just skip them altogether. She’s been lucky enough to have met a man who not only respects her wishes but doesn’t push to hear the reasons behind it. Within a visit to his family during the holidays she is confronted with her past, faced with the reality of what the bitterness and sadness can do to her in time as well as how deep her love runs for her boyfriend. Can that love help her overcome the bad?

Eve has had a good life, enjoying her relationship, work and is happy. But new years eve has been a day of unease for her since she was dumped. She’s content with keeping to herself on that day and hiding from the world. Instead, her house works against her and makes it difficult. When she decides to take a chance with an offer to spend time with her neighbor it isn’t what she expected. She’s faced with yet another bad memory in the making, realizes she misjudged and has to decide if its time to turn it all around. Can she open up her heart again to find a happy memory?

With short stories its sometimes difficult to capture the true essence of a character’s story from the background, to the present. However, I didn’t experience any lacking of depth in either story. I felt a connection to them both of the women, they’ve had to conquer some pretty bad moments. I loved their journey and had a few aww moments along with a tear or two for Noelle. This may be a quick read, but it’s such a good one! It’s the perfect pairing for some hot cocoa, a blanket, the book and some quiet. Which is exactly what I did.

Running In Snow, A Holiday Novella by Renee Regent.
This was a novella made up of two short stories that take place on Christmas and New Years Eves. My only issue with reading a novella is that I never get enough.

Noelle’s Promise
Noelle has vowed not to celebrate the holidays again except now she has Logan in her life. Now she will be spending Christmas with Logan and his family. Can her holiday be happy or will her memories come back and ruin it for her.

Eve’s Hope
Eve doesn’t like New Years, it is always an unlucky night for her. When an unforeseen incident happens and she end up at her neighbors before midnight, will this be a New Years Eve to remember or will her bad luck strike again?

This novella was a quick, wonderful read. I enjoyed it a lot.

2 short novellas by Renee Regent will leave you with a smile on your face. Both of these novellas are sweet happy reads just in times for Christmas that you will love

Noelle has had a rule to never celebrate Christmas since she was a little girl. She never does gift exchanges with friends or coworkers but this year she was invited to her boyfriends family celebration. She feels a bit uncomfortable for a little while until the moment arises and she goes running. To many memories are brought back to the surface and she cannot handle it. Will she make it back to Logan and have a happy ending or was this trip a big mistake. Loved this book. Loved the characters…and you will too!

Eve’s Hope
Last year Eve had a horrible New Year’s Eve so this year she plans on staying home in comfy clothes watching an X-Files marathon. Now she finds herself bundled up in her warmest clothes including a parka because she has no heat and no one is able to come fix it for her. Suddenly, her hot neighbor knocks on the door and invites her over to his house for a little get together. She wants to decline because it is a last minute invite but at least he has working heat.
The last person she expects to see over at Kirks house is a guy she had spent a night with not to long ago. She tries hiding from him but somehow he found her and was harassing her about getting together again. Can this New Year’s Eve get any worse? Sure it can but it can also get a lot better.

2 great reads you will be glad you read. Renee Regent is an amazing author and these novellas are no different from her great writing style.

One of my favorite things about the holiday season is getting to devour sweet and soul-warming novellas that center around the magic of the season. Running In Snow: A Holiday Novella, is just that. Two heart and soul warming short stories that bring to life the promise of hope. I loved that these books were taken from the experiences of the author and spun into the stories. It made them seem just a little bit more magical.

Noelle’s Promise:
This lovely novella brings us the story of Noelle. Noelle has a history of bad Christmas memories and is determined to avoid celebrating the holiday forever. Things soon start to look like that is not going to be an option since she has developed a relationship with her boyfriend Logan. Him and his family convince her to give it one more shot. Nothing of course comes easy and the past begins to rear its ugly head. Will Noelle run and avoid the feelings that come to head or will she face the past long enough to bury it and start anew? This was a sweet and short novella, almost making me want a tad more. I think a lot of that has to do with how much I enjoyed Noelle’s character. I feel like she has even more story in her, or just maybe one with a tad more detail, but for the holiday novella idea this covers everything.

Eve’s Hope:
Eve of course is the main gal for this novella. She was a bit more light-hearted of a read. Even doesn’t enjoy New Year’s Eve, in fact she thinks the whole thing is just jinxed for her and she does everything in her power to keep herself in a safe and neutral space for this one evening. Of course we need a sweet twist to make that interesting so things don’t quite go as Eve had hoped they would. Will she be able to embrace the ideas of NYE and start new memories that will be worth celebrating? I think this one has to be my favorite of the two and again I would have to say I would love more of Eve as well.

Running In Snow: A Holiday Novella by Renee Regent was two beautiful and deep holiday reads. I would give these 2 stories a four out of five stars. I loved the emotional tales because they were perfect snippets into these characters. I felt like I was peeking in from a window on a specific time in these characters lives. I know novellas are supposed to be quick but I truly wish these two were longer. I loved the names, Noelle and Eve, they fit the books perfectly.

This is a super quick and easy holiday read. The holidays are always stressful, more so when you’ve suffered a traumatic event so close to them. In this novella, we have 2 stories-2 women, 2 holidays, 2 horrific past events. Each woman comes full circle and gets her happy ending after confronting the issues that keep her from fully healing. Great job. 5 stars.

5-Stars

Running In Snow: A Holiday Novella by Renee Regent was a light romantic holiday read. I lost myself in this short collection and read it in one sitting. Noelle and Eve were amazing characters. I loved Noelle’s story the most and how she overcame her holiday trauma. It was such a sweet read. I enjoyed how despite her issues with Christmas, she pushed through for love. That story had a happy ending that had me bubbling over with joy. I really enjoyed this book and loved that it took me away from some personal holiday craziness. I highly recommend it!

RUNNING IN SNOW contains two holiday novellas.

The first one was a 3.5 read for me. It is about a woman whose past defines her present. It bothered me that this seemingly successful woman hadn’t dealt with her 8 year old self yet and lived in such an extreme state for so long.

The second story was a 5 star read for me. A classic holiday romance.

Both stories were quick and easy to read and while the first wasn’t my cup of tea, it was still a well written story.

This is my third book by this author and once again I loved it..I think my favorite part right now is that I read it when the holidays are approaching and it seriously helped me get into the spirit. Of the two short stories I think Noelle’s Promise was my favorite. It was a story full of alot of feelings and my heart went out to her all the way through. Although quite short and I would have loved a lot more it still felt like a full and complete story. I loved how patient Logan was throughout and his family was awesome!

I also enjoyed Eve’s Hope but did not connect to that quite as easily, that one felt a bit rushed and before I knew it I was done..I think I’d have loved that had there been more story involved. I did really like the fact that one story focussed on Christmas and the other New Years.

I read this in one sitting and can not wait for more from this author.
