From The Ashes: a gripping psychological thriller (Ashes to Ashes Book 3) by Rowena Holloway – Review by Sheri Schrader

From The Ashes (Ashes to Ashes, #3)From The Ashes by Rowena Holloway
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

From the Ashes – a gripping psychological thriller by Rowena Holloway is the third book in the Ashes to Ashes series. I do not recommend trying to read as a standalone book. This series and the characters have grown with each book. This is a gripping thriller that will keep you on the edge of your seat. When I thought it was winding down something else would be discovered or happen. I really enjoy the character Charlotte and have enjoyed reading about her and seeing her grow as a character. I will definitely be looking for more from this author in the future.

Hidden Tracks by Zoe Lee – Review by Karyn Taylor

Hidden TracksHidden Tracks by Zoe Lee
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Hidden Tracks is a wonderful contemporary romance novel by Zoe Lee. This is the 2nd time I have read a book by this author, having previously read A Perfect Fit, which contains the same group of friends. One of the things I mentioned in my review of A Perfect Fit was how much I loved the camaraderie between the group of friends and how much they all love and support each other. This was very much evident again in Hidden Tracks as the friends came together to support Seth, the main character in this book. I’d honestly love to have a group of friends like this.
I adored the 2 main characters in this book although I have to admit to wanting to bash their heads together several times. Seth Riveau is a singer/songwriter with a lot of hurt in his past. Astrid Sinclair is a music journalist who used to be married to a very famous rock star. Her latest job is to write about the band that Seth used to be part of, and is currently helping them out at a few shows. The connection between them is instant and Astrid realises that the big story shouldn’t be about the band, but be about Seth.
Interactions between Seth and Astrid are full of emotion, both trying to get a better insight of the other, but neither willing to let their walls down. This book really grabbed me and had me doing a lot of soul searching. The conversations between Seth and Astrid were often very deep and thought provoking.
This is a really fantastic read and I really hope that the author writes more about this group of friends.

Evergreen by Mya O’Malley – Review by Erica Fish

EvergreenEvergreen by Mya O’Malley
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Mya O’Malley knows how to tug on the heart string with Evergreen. Mya O’Malley’s does a great job with her characters in this book. She gives the animals a voice which is a great idea for a Contemporary Romance story. The story is a simple one but it is a “warm cuddly” book to snuggle up to a warm fire and read with your best canine friend. June is a “rich girl” who has a passion for animals. She has decided that she will live with her perfect canine to live with for all her days. That is when she meets Maxine, the Great Dane. It appears as if Maxine is working her charms to get Graham (her best friend) together with June. Will it be that simple that a Great Dane will get these two people together? Will there be obstacles that may keep Graham and June apart?

These are two sweet holiday romance stories. They will warm your heart and keep you reading to the end. The characters are connectable and I could relate to them. Eve feels she is not so lucky during the holidays and than you have Noelle whose past has influenced how she feels about the holidays. Is it possible that these two will overcome their feelings so have a merry holiday? I highly recommend this book, these two women will boost your holiday spirit.

Fire & Ice (Spicetopia #3) by Phoebe Alexander – Review by Cassi Rogers

Fire & Ice (Spicetopia #3)Fire & Ice by Phoebe Alexander
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Fire & Ice is the third installment in the Spicetopia series by Phoebe Alexander. I have read the previous two books in the series and while each book can technically be read as a stand-alone, I would recommend reading them in the proper order so you get the full context and implications of each story. In this particular book we are introduced to Enya and Neve, who are pretty much polar opposites. He is former military and head of security, which means he is a man of very few words. His life has taught him that having a cold heart and steel exterior will prevent people from getting too close to him. Enya is the head of public relations. She is a red headed spitfire who makes her living talking to people. She is always chattering away being all bubbly and cheerful, and her personality makes Neve cringe. The Spicetopia adult theme park is set to make its grand opening soon and some unknown force is doing the best they can to sabotage their special night. Ironically Neve and Enya are thrown together, with the help of their friends to try and get to the bottom and identify the one who is planning such mayhem. This story had more dangerous-like action than the previous two books did, however it had just as many steamy scenes and a lot of humor. I think this is my favorite of this series thus far. I can’t wait to get my hands on the next book!

Falling For His Badass by Jessika Klide – Review by Cassi Rogers

Falling For His BadassFalling For His Badass by Jessika Klide
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Falling for His Badass by Jessika Klide is a short but wonderful stand-alone novel. Although I finished the book in a few hours, it was packed full of action and excitement. Lizzy has a problem picking guys who are not good for her, therefore she ends up getting her heart broke quite a bit. She agrees to go out on a weekend getaway with her best friend and roommate Tara. They are going to stay at Tara’s boyfriend’s house and he has a little brother they are secretly trying to hook Lizzy up with. However, Lizzy only agrees to go on this trip if she can go out and be by herself for the weekend, she isn’t really interested in meeting the little brother. Lizzy finds herself out and about and becomes dangerously attracted to a man who is all consuming, charming, and smoking hot. She ends up spending the weekend with him and can’t wait to get back to tell Tara that she finally met someone who is worth her time. This book drew me in and held me captive from start to finish. It is short, sweet, and steamy. I would definitely recommend this to other readers.

Draigon Weather (The Legacies of Arnan Book 1) by Paige L. Christie – Review by Erin Wolf

Draigon Weather (The Legacies of Arnan, #1)Draigon Weather by Paige L. Christie
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I give Draigon Weather (The Legacies of Arnan Book 1) by Paige L. Christie, 4 stars.

This a fantasy story focusing around Cleod and Leiel. It starts out in Cleod’s life in his present day, but goes back and forth to their childhoods, starting around the time they first met. It slowly shows in great detail how each one of them grows and the paths they chose throughout their lives. There are many hardships and sad times, they become people they never imagined. The story is very moving. You feel Cleod’s determination to keep his promise while is young, and his guilt as an older adult. Leiel’s story is heartwrenching. The ones who are supposed to love her instead hate her. She could give up and let it break her, but instead she hides her time. Then things become clear that she never imagined.

The places and events are described so well, you feel like you are part of the story. While I have read stories involving dragons, I have not read one quite like this. The concept is unique and interesting, another reason I could not put the book down.

If you enjoy fantasy stories showcasing two people who strive to do one thing, but end up destined for something else, this book is for you.

A Cowboy Under the Mistletoe Anthology by Susan Fisher Davis, Leslie Garcia, Melissa Keir, Debbie Desmarteau, Stephanie Berget, D’Ann Lindun – Review by Lisa Helmick

A Cowboy Under the MistletoeA Cowboy Under the Mistletoe by Susan Fisher Davis
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Who doesn’t love a good Cowboy story? Then add in the magic of Christmas! Sparkling Magic occurs! Below are my thoughts on each book:

A Cowboy for Christmas by Susan Fisher Davis is a wonderful to start the book. I loved this story because it was so sweet but also sad. Former Bullfighter and his best friends widow. I loved their connection but could easily see the conflict as well. This one brought out a few tears from me.

The Cowboys Christmas Hand by Leslie P Garcia was confusing to me. I struggled to make a romantic connection between the main characters. This does have a little suspense thrown in that made the story round out nicely.

Tempting the Cowboy by Melissa Keir. This one involves alcoholism and working on recovery. I usually enjoy this authors works but this one Seemed to sad for me to really get into the characters. It is filled with Hope and that’s a wonderful way to end it.

A Different Kind of Gift by Debbie Desmarteau. I loved how Nicholas was all in! He was very romantic, polite and kind And with the help of Lily he was able to get Destiny on a date. The Mom situation with Destiny was a wonderful add. Very Complex! I loved how things worked out and that her mom even became a friend and advocate for Destiny. This is one of my favorites and I would be interested in more from this author.

Saving a Cowboy by Stephanie Berget. While I enjoyed this story and the characters I felt the connection between Gina and Drew was pretty non existent. Gina seemed way to mannish and standoffish. I would have loved some sort of Femininity in her thoughts, actions or really anything. I get her aloneness and she did make giant steps forward. The family (brothers and wives) were wonderful additions. They added some fun and flair to the story.

Another favorite story is Noah’s Christmas Faith by D’Ann Lindun. It’s a lovely story between Faith and Noah. I could see and feel the romance building between them. I loved how This town is full of other characters stories. I can see them all with the random people Faith met around town even though I have not read them. The ending seemed a little rushed but that could be because I was at 99% and the couple were still in a disagreement. Maybe a little more closure would have worked or something. It was enjoyable and I would look into more from this author.

Overall this is a good collection of books. I have Even found some new authors to look Into. Enjoy!

Evergreen by Mya O’Malley.
I was completely taken surprised by this story. Not because it was amazing ,because I already had a feeling it would be. But it’s different than other books by this author I’ve read and I absolutely loved it! It’s a book that has you wanting to find a comfortable chair and just reading and never stop. The characters are complex and relatable, June has a story to be told and trust me you don’t want to miss out. I was just so completely hooked. If you’re looking for a book that gives you all the feels I highly recommend this story. It’s well written and paced nicely never feeling rushed or lacking anything. The author truly put each emotion so intensely in this book you can’t help but feel them. Five stars all the way! Go get your copy now!

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Hope (Feisty Lawyers Book 4) by Seelie Kay. Once again this author pulls me in so deep I couldn’t put this book until I’d finished. I do highly recommend reading these in order. This author just has this amazing way of finding the perfect mix between action, suspense and romance. Hope is quite the amazing character, there were times when I was wishing I had her as a friend. She’s relatable and you can’t help but root for her from the sidelines. This series seriously just keeps getting better, kept me on the edge of my seat. This might be my favorite one yet but I feel like I’ve said that before so just take that to mean they are all amazing! It’s well written and paced nicely never feeling rushed or lacking anything. I found myself completely lost in its pages, and hoping it wouldn’t end. I’m excited to see where the author takes readers next! Five stars all the way and highly recommended!

Falling For His Badass by Jessika Klide – Review by Randall Murphy
This book is a classic beautiful girl that thinks she’s not good enough and the badass Seal that proves to her that she is everything he wants. It’s a good story with a few twists and a couple of surprises. Other than a couple of scumbags that try to trap Lizzy in a 3-way groping on the dance floor with possible mal-intent, there’s no real arch-enemy or bad guy. It’s a happy ever after kind of story about a girl that has low self-esteem and has been used battling to believe she’s worthy of the lust in the badass’ glazed look. Characters are lively and realistic. It’s a really good story with pretty accurate characterizations of military culture.

Hope by Seelie Kay is the fourth book in the Feisty Lawyers series. Hope can be a name or something someone believes in. In this book, Hope is a remarkable woman who has gone through special training in order to help those who can’t help themselves. Since this is the fourth book in the series there are some parts better understood after having read the other books but I believe this can be read and enjoyed as a stand-alone book. I really enjoyed Hope’s story and tore through it in one sitting. This is a short book and you won’t want to put it down. There is action, intrigue, and some romance. I really enjoyed this escape from the everyday.

The Rise of House Valdis (House Valdis Book 1) by Naomi Valkyrie was a fun and romantic read. This novel. Was full of magic and supernatural beings. I loved the variety the author used in creating her characters. She demonstrates a fun imagination especially with main character Xenobia. I kept trying to figure her out at first but wow! I found this book to be intense, emotional, with danger never far behind the characters. I was pulled into the story from the start and didn’t want to put it down. I enjoyed reading about the character Isaac Reid. He finds himself having to make a choice that is hard to make. I could really feel the conflict that is felt by Isaac. I found my emotions going up and down. In this book there are characters and decisions that are more shades of gray than clear cut. The book is very detailed and I felt like I was there with the characters. Don’t miss out on a fast-paced journey. I would recommend reading it.

What a kickoff to what I know is going to be a great new series. I will start this by saying this is not my go to genre but when a synopsis grabs my attention I have to read it, and this did that and so much more.
I absolutely loved this book. The characters were so well thought out and I never once felt lost or confused, even with the changing of character voices we follow, as they’re laid out of who is speaking.
Xenobia was a great character to kick this book off with, what a main leading lady.
I cannot wait for more from this debut author, and i want to say so much more but if we follow Xenobia and her girls some more I am all in. Adding to my waiting to buy list.

The characters are what make this story. It’s multiple POV but there is so much depth to each of them. My favorite part is the one split second decision she makes and it starts a spiral of events that could expose who she is.

This is the first book in the Valdis series and I’m impatiently waiting for more.

What an amazing book to read. It includes the paranormal, paranormal creatures, and the situations that they face. One of the reasons I loved the book so much are the characters. At the top of that list is Xenobia. She is smart, independent, and stubborn. She is also kind and protective of those she cares about. Will she be able to face the danger before her and accept her new role and the responsibility that goes with it? Read this book to find out. I found the story is fast-paced and once started hard to put down. There are other characters that I enjoyed reading about such as Xen’s bestie, Maggie. The author writes.in such a way I felt I was right there with the characters. Don’t miss out on a story that is entertaining and intriguing. I highly recommend it.

I absolutely loved the character Xen. She is everything that you want a female lead to be. She is such a strong and interesting character – definitely me favourite one in the book.
I enjoyed every moment of this book and I ho early cannot wait to see what else this author does in the future.

I enjoyed reading about Abbie. She is an intelligent woman who is a mother and a great cook. When she first meets the neighbors next door she can’t help but feel that something is not right. When other situations occur that feeling becomes stronger. Is Abbie right about her new neighbors? Are they not who they say they are? Is her family in danger? Read this book to find out. Falling For His BadassFalling For His Badass by Jessika Klide
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Falling For His Badass is a very fast paced contemporary romance novel from Jessika Klide. It was the first time I had read anything by this author but it looked like just the kind of book that I enjoy, so I gave it a chance. I’m so glad that I took a chance with this novel as I thoroughly enjoyed it.
I mentioned before that it was fast paced, it was so fast that I just kept going and devoured the whole book in a couple of hours.
I loved the characters of Brody (BA) and Lizzy. Brody is home on leave from the military and is captivated by Lizzy. Lizzy is visiting with her best friend Tara whose boyfriend John is Brody’s brother. On a couple of occasions Brody steps in and is Lizzy’s knight in shining armour and it’s instant love between the 2, although Lizzy is not aware of the connection between the two of them as he introduces himself as BA, a nickname he is regularly called. I really loved the interactions between Lizzy and Brody and how instantly they both fell for each other. Pretty much love at first sight.
I highly recommend this book.

The Rise of House Valdis (House Valdis #1)The Rise of House Valdis by Naomi Valkyrie
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

So I grabbed this book not knowing what it would be about, how many pages, etc. I thought it was going to be a GOT type of story. It is not BUT IT IS JUST AS GOOD!!!!

The story is written in a very unique narrative, the chapters are super short and each is told in a different voice. I still don’t know how many pages there are – I tried to read it all at once but I had to go to work. I finished it at lunch and I am very grateful I don’t have to punch a time-clock because sometimes being an adult is hard.

Ok, without giving anything away I will tell you the following:

A. This is a clean book, there was no cussing and no sex
B. The protagonist is a strong female who lifts women up instead of holding them down
C. There are a few interesting fellows
D. This book see its characters take almost a “spiritual” journey to new self awareness.
E. It is very visually written and I was transported into the book watched it like a movie

I look forward to reading more in this series (please tell me this is a series). I’m going to check the author’s other books to add to my WTR (want to read) list.

I love this! This book pulled me in right from the beginning, I couldn’t put it down until the last page. Her characters made the story come alive and made me feel as if I was right there with them. Xen was given a second chance to start over on Earth. Who knew that one decision could expose so much for her. Now danger is near, will she have to expose her secret? She is a great character that has some trust issues and could use a boost in self reassurance, I loved her. This is a must read.
